"Sym" key on hardware keyboard not working - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hey guys and gals.
This problem is driving me nuts.
Did a search, but can't find solution.
I am running Da_G's rom..brilliant and fast.
But somehow my "sym" key on the hardware keyboard of my touch pro is not working.
Changed the CSWLayout to 0, to change from fuze to touch pro.
But no sym..need it to get from / to \
Also, I can't see, to get the pund sign, "FN" w and the euro sign "FN" e working..
Anybody know how to solve this?
This is so frustrating..
Thanks for your help...xda's the best!!!

please.....help?
Anybody????
This is driving me nuts....

Is your keyboard correctly mapped? e.g. Are the other symbols and shift keys working correctly? Are you using a FUZE or a Touch Pro? Try this if your on a FUZE to return the standard key layout.
mrvanx said:
Na, theres a reg setting which determines the layout. Goto HKLM\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD
Change CWSLayout to 0 for Touch pro, or 1 for Fuzes.
Create the key if it is not there.

Click to collapse

Did you install ezinput?

nope, nope

I've got a touch pro, and changed keyboard layout to touch pro, from Fuze rom (Da_G)
cwslayout is 0 in my registry.
I don't have ezinput installed...
FN key is working, just not the euro sign and the pounds sign.
sym key is not responsive, however fn sym (internet shortcut) launches opera, so no hardware default.
Is there another way to get \ on hardware keyboard?

ezinput..
with ezinput, the pound sign and euro sign work, but pressing the sym key, just gives me the é and nothing else...argh, still frustrating me.. How can I get the \
this is driving me nuts....
Please, anybody....

How does it work.. it's driving me nuts...

After looking very hard, I found a registry setting that I think describes the behaviour of the sym key.
It is mapped to the exe symselector.exe (\windows\symselector.exe)
However, this exe is not in my rom.
Can anybody help me out and copy it from their windows rom and post it?
Thank's a million...

Shift + Numbers
Hi,
I just installed EnergyROM. I changed my hardware keyboard map to english (CurLang 1033) and it is a TP (CWSLayout 0).
With the stock rom, i was able to press fn OR shift and a number to type symbols on the number keys, now i can only use fn. is there a way to get the shift+number for symbol back? eg. Shift+1 => !
W

ive noticed that it depends on the application that has focus - e.g. my sym key doesnt work inside a putty/screen session but does in other apps

No need to soft-reset.

how do i disable T9 via registry hack

hi,
can anyone tell me how to disable T9 perminently via a reg hack? i am using wm6 and i have done the alt-space bar command, but sometimes at power up the t9 mode restarts and does not allow me to enter numbers so i cannot unlock my device and end up hard resetting it. i think this will be easier then bypassing the device lock password.
thanks
If you want to enter numbers, you should be able to just hold down the button that has the number. For example, to enter a "2" press and hold "E".

thanks for trying, but i am not new to smartphones and i have already covered all the basics. thats why i am looking for a registry edit.
there isn't one as far as i know.
on the S621, you just press the FN key and SPACE bar key together and you can choose your default input.
Cheers

i take it you didnt actually read the very first post in this thread.......thanks for trying but reading the question usually leads to a better result, lol
Strange... mine stays off with alt-space until I turn it back on -- through multiple reboots, even after one of those endless-rebooting sessions...
my problem is random. it will work fine for a couple of reboots, then lock up, or sometimes it will not get past the first reboot. very frustrating as i am on the road all day i rely heavily on my smartphone. looks like i will be waiting for a rom upgrade
I Have a S620 Italian..
How to activate T9 or similiar?
Thanks
to turn t9 off on an S620 wm6
in
\HKLM\Software\Tegic\eT9\ME

Japanese QVGA IME - Help!!

Hi All,
I have been trying to get japanese input working on my Raphael, and have run into some problems. Here's what I have done:
1. Installed LesJapanNo6 - all working/tested no problems
soft reset
2. Installed IME_31J_QVGA_F file
soft reset
-> manila.exe error, device.exe error, and another exe error (can't remember now - think it was TouchFlo3d related). Hardware keys dead.
3. Made the registry edit to get hardware keys working
soft reset (note, regional settings still Japanese)
After that, every time I would try and input something, or change the input method, I get ongoing crashes in device.exe (until I closed the kayboard).
I then decided to change the regional setting back to English (UK), and then soft reset. Now it starts with no errors, but input is stuck on hiragana and the keyboard icon has disappeared so no standard romaji input.
I think I now have to install the enable_ime_2 and/or enable_ime_3 cabs, but am paranoid I have already done something wrong (crashes etc from step 2). Can anyone more experienced hint at the final steps to get this all working?
Thanks,
Raj
The steps you have above should work fine, but use the VGA version:
http://rapidshare.com/files/159514259/IME_31J_F.cab.html
You might need to go ahead and hard reset before you try again.
Just for reference, I have LetsJapanNo6 and IME_31J_F on my Raphael 1.90.405.1 WWE (UK stock ROM), with the following reg tweaks applied:
Code:
[HKCU\Keyboard Layout\Preload]
default = "E0010411"
[HKCU\Keyboard Layout\Preload\1]
default = "E0010411"
[HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\IMEJP\3.1\MSIME]
Option3 = "D"
[HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e0010411]
Keyboard Layout = "00000409"
Word of caution: when you go to edit the reg values, highlight the text and write over it; don't use the backspace key, because for some reason it inserts a lot of garbled text. Once you've saved the reg edits and soft-reset, the backspace key functions as normal again.
Also consider using PQzII to map keycode 0xE6 to IME; this will allow you to press the SYM key on the hardware keyboard to toggle between ascii (A→a) and kana (A→あ) input.
Other known issues: JP IME breaks T9/word suggestion, some other minor oddities.
SoftBank is releasing its version of the Raphael, so be on the lookout for a native JP ROM (which will have everything set up correctly) in the future.
Working perfectly now, fantastic!!!
Thanks!!!
I tried to map the SYM button to IME. But there is no way for me to specify 0xE6 in the IME menu.
is the new Raphael PQzII different?

I typed it in.
I'm using 008e1, but the latest e2 should be fine.
I have had this working for about a month now but was wondering how to get a keyboard shortcut to switch the kana/romanji input. This works perfect.. thanks!!!
thanks!!!
just a shot question:
as I use the hw-kb of my xperia for inputting text, it would be cool to have the tegaki-kb as standard one. Whenever I set it in Windows Mobile-Settings, it gets switched back to romaji-kb on restart.
is there a reg-hack for this?
would greatly appreciate your help!!!

It might be a problem with Xperia Panels resetting it to romaji-kb (TouchFlo3D does the same thing on the Touch Pro).
If you use PQzII, you can configure it to override the default input panel. You can even specify different default panels for portrait and landscape. Just open up the setup program (PQzII_Setup) and the settings is on the first page.
nevermind, got everything working!
thanks!

Using hardware keys in iGO8

I've got a problem configuring iGO8 to use the hardware keys, such as the volume up, volume down, and back key. I know the keycodes for these keys, but when I edit the keybind section in iGO it won't respond to any hardware key input. Did anybody get this to work on his Topaz? If so, how?
I'm using iGO 8.3.2.96054. These are my edits to the keybind so far:
x75="VOLUMEUP"
x76="VOLUMEDOWN"
x875="PREVSCREEN"
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Zoom in zoom out hardkeys really needs
The topic has disappeared onto the 4th page by now, so I thought I might bump it. Can anybody please help me on this? I have done more internet research now, but I still have no answer.
i think its waste of time cause when newer version of igo come out it will support topaz buttons by default.

In order to have working volume keys BEFORE starting igo you HAVE To change screen keyboard from HTC to default Windows one. HTC Keyboard is hooking to volume up/down key presses and iGo doesn't see their state.
How would I do that? I searched in the settings for an option, but I can't find a setting to change back to the standard windows keyboard. I have found a setting allowing me to choose between touch input and a keyboard, but the latter seems to be a hardware keyboard option as is sets itself back. The touch input option is selected by default, it's the default HTC setting.

keyboard fn keys remapped?

I have a verizon tp2 that i bought on ebay recently and it works great other than a little issue with some of the function keys. more than half are not the one that the key says it is and others don't work at all, some are the correct key. for instance the ":" key actually produces a "/", the ";" key produces a "\", trying to type a comma just results in it doing a period which is the primary function of that key. "=" is a "_", and on and on. interestingly, all the symbols on the number keys work correctly and " is a " so not all of the symbols on the letter keys are messed up, but most are.
the keyboard is set to english, my region is USA, and the on screen keyboard works correctly.
It came loaded with energy rom and I just loaded the most recent version of energy on it cause i kinda like it and i was hoping reloading the rom would fix it, it didn't. I have looked all over for settings related to this and i see nothing. Is the keyboard itself screwy or something?
you just need to install the verizon keyboard cab, or install the verizon provisioning. it's in the energy rom thread
awesome, that fixed it thanks. If anyone else has the issue and wants the fix I linked it here.
