I have done a quick search here and on google and found a couple of apps that are freeware that allow to force a certain resolution downwards from the native resolution.
This is my issue. I have a couple of old apps that come from WM2003 times that where specifically written for QVGA and on there they don't look right. Is there a registry hack or any software out there that will force the screen to display 240x320 by default.
I know this is kinda silly to run the phone in a lesser resolution it was designed to do, but I hope someone might have a solution to this?
Thx
I think there was an app for switching between 640x480 (VGA) 480x800 and 480x480, but not for lower resos im afraid

Hi all
I have a xda exec, and when I use internet explorer all the image seems blury. Is that just me or a common issue with VGA pdas? thank you
It's normal, since IE on a VGA device doesn't work in True VGA mode, i.e. the pictures are forced to expand over its dimensions. For example, a 100px x 200px photo will be forced to display at 200px x 400px in order to compensate the higher resolution of the screen, which is why the pictures look blurred.
I kinda figured that.... So is there any software or ways to solve this?
Try OzVga, it's free and lets you switch between real VGA and the standard mode.
Ok, a question that needs answering that has popped up in my mind from time to time is about resolution.
#1. If a person buys a Asus P565, or Touch Diamond with 640x480 VGA res display, will the games and programs that used to run in 320x240 on my TYTN res be now a small square on the screen?
#2. Or again, If a person buys a Sony Xperia X1 or the Asus P835 (Glaxy 7) and is running a program that used to run on a 320x240 display but now it is running on the Xperia that has a 800x480 will it be in a small square, or will it be full screen and all distorted, will it be cut off on the sides, what happens?
Basically, what happens? Will everything be screwed?
The answer to the problem?
Doesn't anyone know what will happen?
there r some apps which are auto resolution or use force mode. Also there are few progs developed here by the developers for resolving the resolution. So no need to b panicky
HEHEEHH
I was actually a little nervous, so when you wrote panicky i laughed ehehheeh.. Thank man!
Problem with my resolution.
I am having a problem running some games and apps that were designed for 320x240 rez, now that I have a device running at 640x480. Does anyone know what is available that could help me?
Does anyone know if theres a way to make games/programs stretch to fill a 640x480 screen?
Or if theres a program to change the resolution when that program is loaded?
I have using the o2 xda zest
Games/Apps are fit for specific resolutions..
if a game is not made for 640x480, you can't change it..
Hi there. I have some questions about the capabilities of the Touch Pro 2 when it comes to display colour depth and video playback. I apologise for the painfully newbie-ish nature of these questions.
The TP2 is always listed as supporting "65k colours" only - it's a Windows Mobile 6.1 device, after all. However, I've read that it's upgradeable to WM 6.5. Does WM 6.5 permit colour depths beyond 16-bit?
I've also read that it is possible for an app like a video player to get around the 16-bit colour limitation in WM6.1 by using DirectDraw overlays. Is this correct?
And finally, if either of the above methods (overlays or WM 6.5) can potentially give access to colour depths beyond 16-bit, is the TP2 capable of supporting this, or are there limitations (in the hardware, the drivers, or the TFT panel) which prevent it? And, if it can do it, what's the maximum physical colour depth the device can achieve under those circumstances?
Edit: oh, and if the overlays thing does work, which video player apps support the use of overlays?
Bump, I'd also like to know this. I am assuming it is only capable of 65k though.
Hello,
I want to know if it is possible to optimize the resolution of android games?
I have a galaxy tab android S2 and some games have too low a resolution. It's like 400x300 on a 2K device.
Thx
I believe the reason of that is because this particular games are not optimized for your device. I doubt you can do anything about it.
is there a way to "simulate" another device ?
What I was about to say was that it's not the matter of the device model but it's the matter of the screen size and density. The system performs scaling and resizing of the application to make it work on different screens. However, scaling can result in blurry or pixelated graphics. To avoid this problem, the developer of the app should provide alternative resources (bitmap images, etc.) for different densities (i.e. optimize the application for different screen sizes and densities). If this wasn't done, the application is simply stretched to fit the screen that results in poor graphics quality.
And if i root the tablet to use an app that changes the DPI and resolution of the device.
Do you think the game will also change the resolution to improve it?
I don't know if this will work. Maybe someone else knows.
