Hello all
After long search in this forum and in cruise's registry, I didn't find how to play video with tcpmp (instead WMP) in HTC Video Album.
TCPMP is correctly configured for play all media by default in my phone, (photo, music, video), since the explorer, by example. But not since HTC Video Album.
Someone could help me?
And I think it will be interesting for a lot of people!
THX a lot!
Bye
After one week of research, no solution...
possible fix
Hi,
I did the following with my device:
I opened the registry and browsed to HKLM\software\HTC\Biotouch\MediaHubMini\App1_3\ and edit Path. Insert the following value if you have an English device: \storage card\program files\tcpmp\player.exe
If you have a different langauge device you should replace the \storage card\ with the name of your card.
N.B. This only works if you installed TCPMP player with the default settings on the storage card.

Good suggestion, however this only gets you to open TCPMP through the cube "Videos" icon, not within HTC Album as requested by ZueBug - I think ZueBug meant that he wants to be able to click on a video from within the HTC Album UI and then have it call up TCPMP to play the video instead of WMP. This would be great since the HTC Album has a much better UI as compared with TCPMP for browsing through your video collection. I started a thread on this issue a while back, however no one has come up with a solution as yet.
Better yet, i don't even see any videos in HTCAlbum. That's why i changed the Video button in the cube. I wouldn't be able to view any videos, now i am. So for me it's a win-win situation.
But after reading your post i assume you CAN see videos in HTCAlbum?
TCPMP is my default music and video player. But my problem is: how to make TCPMP default player in HTC album!
THX!
Touch settings
Use Carlosp touch settings v 2.2 .
Works almost perfect for mine Cruise , except a message at the opening.
For wich I'm still waiting for a solution.
If you read my first post in this topic you'd have your solution to PCPMP player being defautl in the cube. But i guess reading is hard these days...

Yes, videos are viewable in HTC Album for me after clicking on the Videos button in the cube. Apparently though, it only recognizes videos in MP4 format. Any videos in AVI format are ignored when placed in the folder from which HTC Album reads. I guess HTC Album was really designed specifically for the videos taken by the on-board camera and nothing else. So I assume this is why you can't see any videos - your collection is not in MP4 format, correct?
As a test, I converted an AVI clip to MP4 and, low and behold, it was recognized in HTC Album. However, I am not about to get started converting my whole video library to MP4 anytime soon!
Well, the fun part is, all video i have is made by the Polaris. So either the HTCalbum sucks balls, or there's something wrong with my ROM.

That is weird! Here is my rom info if it helps:
ROM Version: 1.25.405.1 WWE
ROM Date: 12/11/07
Radio Verision: 1.58.21.23
Protocol Version: 25.65.30.04H
Anyone else with my rom version able to confirm my findings? Anyone with NeoS2007's rom version able to confirm his findings?
THX for all, but my problem is still not solved...
(not possible to find the solution to play video with tcpmp or another soft since HTC video album, not f..... WMP... )
And NeoS2007 stop to talk if understanding (and reading!!!) my problem is hard these days...
I launch TCPMP from the cube. It's my default multimedia player. But when I'm in HTC album, videos are played in WMP. Voila le problème...
I've been going nuts trying to figure out why some videos just won't show up in HTC Album, but others encoded with the exact same settings (seemingly) will.
I usually use Handbrake to do my encodes. I start with the iphone preset, then change the quality setting to 600 kbps. If it's a widescreen video, I may use the cropping to crop the content to 4:3. I change the file type from m4v to mp4 because album never seem to want to see the m4vs at all (even though I could have sworn it's supposed to).
MOST videos show up just fine, but not all. For some of them, I'll see album try to recognize them the first time I navigate to that folder. It will create a space for the video for a moment, and try to get a preview thumbnail of the video to put in it. A moment later, it will fail, and remove that video from the list entirely.
Here's the really strange thing -- if I click on the space where the video is supposed to be, right when it first shows up (before it has a chance to scan it for a thumbnail and then remove it), it will open in the fullscreen player and play just fine. If I wait a moment longer, and hit it after it's tried to generate the preview but just before it's going to vanish, i get an error saying it can't play that sort of mp4 file.
I've been using newer roms that use the blackstone (or other) album and fullscreen player packages, but I tried installing the oem album and had the same thing happen.
These files play fine in mobile wmp, and they play fine in the fullscreen player if i can trick it into opening them -- so what's the problem?
Oh, one more detail -- I've seen the same thing with other encoders, including the one that's being developed in the blackstone forum (but now has vga as an option for us non-widescreen folks).
Phone: HTC 6800
Provider:US Cellular
Windows Mobile 6.0
How do I play other video formats? Also i cannot go to youtube and view those videos either, or videos in general such as those from lorouchepac.com in the LPACTV sections.
Doesnt seem to want to play MP4s or anything.
Playing video on a 6800 mogul.
Harris,
Go on, search, download and install "TCPMP" media player. It will play lots of media types. There is an associations list so you can set what types of media you want it to work for. It will work before Windows Media player if you have one set for this. If you want WMP to work instead, uncheck the box for the particular file type. Also, you can download an application from Youtube to play the videos from the phone. Mine works quite well. hope this helps.

Hello,
Im interested in adding one (or more) tabs to the Manila slider, and specifically a tab that would have a similar cover flowing interface with HTC Album (or HTC ereader) but would be only showing files (movies) from a pre-specified folder, and played when selected with a prespecified player (tcpmp, etc).
Is this possible? Would it be possible to copy/reproduce the Pictures & Videos tab or the eReader tab, rename it "Movies" and link it to a specific directory and player?
Ive searched the fora for something similar but only found the Manila TV tab app. Any ideas, suggestions or thread directions will be most welcomed!
yeah a video tab would be awesome. looks for avi mp4 etc which also has a preview like thumbnail in windows
I get a lot of video clips sent to me through Whatsapp ( a messenger type application). Since a lot of my friends are on iPhones, the video files are in .mov format.
I can easily see and play these files if I go to them directly in the storage folder of the Whatsapp application. HOWEVER the video files do not show up in the video tab of the HTC Gallery app, ie it doesnt recognise .mov as video files.
Any solution, eg to register .mov as a gllery video file, etc or anything else?
Thanks!
rename them to *.mp4 then they play in Gallery
.mo. files
