I have had this topic posted in the other forums and unfortunately no one was able to solve my dilema. So, I'm hoping some of the SW experts in here may be able to help out. I have an original HTC TP. When connected to my PC (Vista 32 bit) active sync works and the TP is recognized. When I want to browse the contents of TP, using my PC I cannot see anything? The content window shows 0 files/items? I've checked my folder settings and they are set to view all hidden and sys files. Even when I go to "my computer" and click on the TP icon, the content window opens and there's nothing there? I've disabled antivirus and firewall and still nothing? This is driving me crazy...

Does pressing F5 make them appear. I have this some times.
Re-installing Active Sync Fixes it (I have the MSI on my desktop )
EDIT:
You're using vista? Should you be using WMDC, not active sync?

After upgrading ActiveSync from v4.2 to v4.5, I can no longer see the list of PocketPC software located on my PC which can be installed on the PocketPC via ActiveSync.
What can I do to see them again in the Add/Remove Program list ?
cf. screenshot (only the software installed on the PocketPC are listed, what I do to have the PocketPC software located on my PC again ?)
Thanks for any help !
if you install them again on the pc they should show up
though it say they are already installed on ppc and if you want to leave it alone just say yes

The problem is that I already have lots of PocketPC application on my PC that I would like to install on my PocketPC... but I can not longer do that via Activesync because I can not see these programs in the 'Add/Remove programs' list
Not sure if this helps you... But check this out
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\AppMgr\Apps\
I've had a problem once, that my ActiveSync didn't want to install any apps to the smartphone again. So I searched in the damn registry and I found huge list of old applications which I uninstalled. So I removed from registry the old orphaned keys, and somehow AS allowed me to install again.
This registry key shows all the apps which are installed via ActiveSync. To say it little easy - what you see in ActiveSync should be also in the registry.
or reinstall them on the pc then they will show up no matter what will not take up more hd space as it will overwrite the old entries

OK, so now I understand where all these information are located.
Unfortunately the above registry key was empty on my computer
Everything as been removed by ActiveSync automatic upgrade
Thanks for your information. Next I will be smarter, and make a registry export before
Hi,
I need help on how to browse my home LAN. Weeks ago, with the previous rom, i was able to browse the LAN using total commander. Now that I've upgraded, i've tried in all the ways known to me, but never succeeded to.
I've tried using the File Explorer as explained in this tutorial, and it doesn't work: a balloon tip comes up saying that i "can't connect using the current settings" (i've already configured my gprs connection that works well with all other apps...wtf i need to configure then??)
I've tried using total commander, but here it says "error 53 while connecting" and then "error 0" ... The guy on TCce's support forum says that this means that the network path is not found, but it is not true.
I'm left to Resco file explorer, which i uninstalled some time ago coz i felt it was useless...
EDIT: Ok, i've isntalled Resco and it doesn't work! It finds my computer and shows its shares, but after having finished the procedure, the Network section doesn't show up at all! If I click on th enetwork shares button, the share i've just created is there, but clicking it, nothing happens!!!! I'M GONNA THROW MY UNI ON THE WALL!!
Please please please, help me solve without installing resco (even if I think that won't be a solution, too!)
and you didn't have to be connected in active sync when you were browsing the other computers? that's awesome! i have so much music to go through and i just do it upstairs! swwweeettt next on the to do list

Ummm what?
No i'm not connected to active sync... i don't understan what are you talking about...
i was able to connect to my networked computers with resco explorer 2005
Guys I've gotten this to work with the basic file explorer in wm6. The only problem I've found it that you can't open IP numbers but only the actual name of the computer I.e. your IP may be 192.168.0.6 but the computer name is Laptop1
If you "open path" from the menu \\Laptop1\ then it seems to work fine. hope this helps. I don't actually think you need resco. This work over wifi and actusync for me
yeah, that's what i discovered as well, but also resco is a much better file explorer, and from there you can just clock on netwrk/map drives, and blam!
it's pretty awesome.
Try this cab, it's Network Plugin for WM6 but i'm using this plugin in WM5 and work great http://www.4shared.com/file/28269154...5/NetPlug.html
Ciao,
I'm having a problem with Windows Vista that I have installed some days ago. Every thing fine with the connection but when I want to explore directory "C" in the device I can't see Windows folder; in the PC is already set the option to show all files, and of course in the PC I see all files, I have the problem just in "C" of the device.
Thank you for your support, best regards.

i have heard a lot of people having problems with there devices while connecting to windows vista. i heard its a active sync problem and that you need to get device manager instead of using active sync
Please bear with me, as this is my first windows mobile phone and I'm not all too familiar with it.
First problem is, tapping "Launch Browser" on the Internet tab does not work. After thinking about it for a while, I realized that the Opera browser was not installed on my device! Now, as far as I know, it should come already in all devices. So, I downloaded the Opera 9.5 browser off their website. How can I set it up so when I tap "Launch Browser" on the Internet tab, Opera 9.5 will automatically run? Currently tapping it still does nothing.
Second is, I've been hearing about this "Windows" folder in the HTC Touch Pro. I can't seem to locate this. When I browse for it with my computer, the name of the TP's "hard drive" is "\", and then I see the following folders:
Application Data, ConnMgr, Content, Documents and Settings, Music, My Documents, Program Files, cemail (hidden file), pim
Is this root folder the "Windows" folder?
Third thing is, in the "Programs" tab in TF3D, there's this icon there that when I press (looks like the default icon for a folder in Vista), it gives me an error. It says "The file 'wt5jetpr' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file."
There we go, that's all. Thank you, if you've read this far.
I can't help with the Opera thing but as for your Windows folder, it's a system file and hidden. You will have to unhide it in your Vista/XP operating system before you can see it using your PC>
You see, I already enabled the viewing of hidden folders. There aren't any other items other than the ones I listed.
EDIT: I tried creating a folder called "Windows" and Vista tells me I can't, because a folder of the same name already exists.
That's weird.. hidden folders are already enabled and I still can't see it.
Hiya, i'm a bit of a noob myselft with regards to wm6.1 so for the opera issue i dont think i could be much help with that same with the file that wont delete so i hope someone else will answer that, to see ur windows folder though when the phone is connected to the pc open up explorer on ur pc and click on tools/folder options then click on view and make sure either the "hide protected operating system files" box is unchecked &/or the "show hidden system files box is checked and this should let you see the windows folder.
Hope this helps.
EDIT: looks like someone already answered in the time it took me to type that, my own fault for multitasking ...

Same thing as you, when I browse to the device from Windows Explorer.
However, if I go to Tools - Folder Options - View tab and I select "Show hidden files and folders", the Windows directory is displayed.

By the name, it looks like it is JetCet Print 5.
Strange you have these errors. Do you use a custom ROM?
PS: been too slow to answer too. but at least the answers match ;-)
I'm not using a custom rom =\. The rom came with my device.
It's:
1.90.405.1.WWE
It's a HTC Touch Pro T7272
Then I advise you to do a Hard Reset. Opera and JetCet print should be there, and should not give you any certificate errors.
I advise you to read a lot these forums, gather as much info as you can, and experimenting with your device. You have a powerhouse in your hands, you know? you have unlimited possibilities. Any questions should you have must be asked.
Alright, I'll give that a try tomorrow after the day's gone so I have lots of time to figure things out.
Sorry for the double post, but I figure this message won't get read if I simply edit my last post.
Anyways, I hard resetted the device and I got Opera and that printing program working! Thanks creiz.
Just one last thing I'm trying to figure out.. is there any way I can get a custom alarm ring tone without downloading a program? (I'm trying to avoid having to do that if possible)
Hi!
My touchscreen stopped working and I really need to get my new sms's and contact list from the the phone (TD2). Is this possible? I'm able to browse to phone while connected through usb in Vista but I don't know where the information is located and whether or not it's viewable from Windows.
Any solution to this?

Weird, the software says "can't find the phone" after searching through com-ports. Though windows finds it and I can brows it through explorer.
Anyone knows a fix for this or any other way to get this information. My phone explorer looks good though and exactly what I need but it's strange I can't get it to find my phone....
edit: As I mentioned I use USB but that's not an option in the settings next to "port".. I can only chose "COM1"
Use My Mobiler to view your PPC TD2 screen on your PC (link in my signature)
You can extract sms & contacts using PIMbackup (found free on xda or via google) or many other software backup options.
If the above fails to work you can copy the pim & cemail file from your phone device directory.

First, thanks alot for the help. Second, My mobiler needed me to confirm on touch screen on my phone which is not possible, a software like this without this would of been perfect.
PIMback doesnt seem to work with Windows 7 or I need some additional files/apps 'cause it says its not a valid win32 software..
Still, I try to get it to work, meanwhile I'd appreciate if anyone has more suggestions to share. I've been looking around but is unable to find programs that work. Pretty puzzled why this is such a hard task.....
Where is the pim and cemail files located`? I find a pim file but what is the best way to view these?
Edit: I see pimbackup is a program for windows mobile. I need a program for windows OR a program which could extract the information from pim and cemail files or any other way to get this info
....one more thing, it seems impossible to read or copy the fil "cemail".. it says the file is being used or something.. guess my hope of retrieving the sms's and so on are gone.. I was able to copy the pim.vol file though... maybe I will be able to get my numbers, but how?....
The manual files of My Mobiler launched Via PC has never asked for input via PPC screen n any installation I have done & have used it on a couple of broken screen devices for work employees.
You can load your pim file to another device or WM PC emulator to recover data, or forward to me (PM me) & I will try make recovery files you can view via PC & use to install to another device.
Jeyo Mobile Companion worked for me.
