1. I recently got my ATT Tilt and have been loading it up with some great apps. I noticed that in File Explorer there are some folders/files I cannot find. For instance, I have no idea where Java is installed. Does anyone know where the root folder for this is? Does File Explorer not allow you to search some files/folders? Would something like Resco Explorer be a better option or does it only have a better UI.
2. The Tilt has about 150mb of internal ROM but I have a 2Gb microSD card installed. I have several Java games in the form of .jar files that I have copied onto my SD card. When running these .Jar files, the games are unzipped somewhere onto my device. However, I have no idea where they are installed. I want to make it so that the .jar files are unzipped onto my memory card so that I have more storage space available for games and don't clog up my internal ROM. Does anyone know how to do this?
Generally speaking, if you want to see all folders in your system, you can always connect to your comp using activesync, make sure your PC file explorer SHOWS hidden files, mark the hidden PPC folders and in properties uncheck HIDDEN..
now you'll be able to see all folders in your PPC file explorer.
I use total commander, it can be used as a more complete "file explorer" and a registry editor.
the java midlets are probably installed where ever the java emulator is located, so i would just suggest installing a java emulator to the storage card and use it instead of the one located in the internal memory.

Hello,
I want to install apps into my SD card but one thing I don't know what to do is how on earth I select a specific folder where I want to install it?
I don't like having programs installed in the root sd folder I want it to be more like:
/storage card/programs
I use Dell Axim X30 with Windows Mobile 2003 SE
I heard that it can be tweaked with Resco Registry Editor but what do I have to do??
Help please !
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Apps\Microsoft Application Installer
find a Key fAskDest and change it's value from 0 to 1.
Alternatively you can also use this great program if you're installing directly from your SD Card
It's called CabInstl
download it from here:

thanks alot everything works I managed it to work using reg tweaking but it still doesnt see al folders in my sd card. I created a folder Programs and I couldnt see it till i moved it to another folder "My documents" which is located on my sd card as well. wtf?!? :?
Hi to all I am very new to Android.
I had ordered a tablet from China it is not very bad running Android 2.1 Eclair.
For several days waiting the device to arrive, I installed to my PC the SDK and I was running virtual devices to learn the operating system.
In all virtual devices there were a SD card, all the e-books and all the pdf files I was installing were in the virtual sd card, I had added some android market sites as applanet, and all the downloaded aplications were in the sd card, when I was installing the applications it was installed in the main memory (1GB) because of the limitations of the 2.1 operating system.
Now in my new tablet, programs like Repligo, aldiko, etc, doen't see the files were are in my SD card, but the system had installed in the root directory a directory /nand, and installes everything in it . It is as virtual SD, when I put the files in this directory it is all OK. My photos and the videos that are in the sd the galerry finds them ok.
To tell you an example to understand what I mean, when I use the OI File manager, when I press the blue icon of the sd card i am going to the /nand directory and not the sdcard directory.
I try to use Repligo for pdf reading, I have a lot of files in SD, but when I press to search for files it recieve file not found, if I copy the pdf files to the /nand directory, the software finds them all.
The same with the Aldiko reader, the Tablet forces Aldiko to install everything as the e-books, and import directory in the /nand directory and not the SD card.
Is there a solution to this problem? because there is no use of having a SD of 16Gb only for photos and videos, and all the other installed in the phones memory. ( And I tell you again not the applications but the files I add like ebooks and .apk files
Is there a solutions, or I do something wrong
Thanks in advance.
I am new to the android world. I am an avid flasher on my WM phone. I have a new G tablet which I immediately flashed the TNT lite rom. Works great.
I have one question though. Is there a way to easily transfer files from internal memory to my external sd card? I have tried copy and paste, but I never get a paste command once copied. I have downloaded some of the apps that are supposed to help move apps to the sd card, but none do files. Specifically, I put all my music onto the tab, and would prefer to run it from the sd card to preserve space.
At this point, it the only way I can figure it out is to repaste all the music to an SD card from my PC and then stick that card in the tablet. Am I correct?

Astro file manager can do this. Long hold and copy (or cut, more precisely), then move to the directory you want them in (/sdcard, for instance) and choose "Edit", and there should be a paste option.

You should be able to do this in the file manager that came with the rom. It's been a while since I've used TNT Lite (have since been using VEGAn and LOVING it). I move files (single and multiple) all the time in the iFileManager that came with the rom I am using. Although every once in a while it won't let me move the file but will let me copy it to another directory (then I just have to delete the original file afterwards). Simply long press the file you want to move, navigate to the folder you want to paste the file using the file manager interface (meaning using the "up folder" at the top rather than using the "back" button on your gTab. Once you're in the folder you want to paste the file simply select "paste".
I suppose you can install other file managers but with each app you install on your gTab you run the risk of cluttering it up with apps you will seldom use. That's just my .2 cents.
One more thing, if you're going to be doing a lot of sideloading and/or moving files from your pc or phone to the gTab I would strongly recommend getting a free Dropbox account which will allow you to transfer files between all of the devices you install Dropbox on.
I will try it. I am already using both the ifile manager and dropbox. I think I just missed a step.
So I'm sure many of you have run into this problem...
Newer phones tend to come with their own disk partition that shows up as "sdcard". They also have an external sd slot which shows as "sdcard-ext" or some variation.
Many older apps assume the built in one is the ONLY sdcard, not realizing that they need to offer the option to browse for other sd cards. They often don't give the option to go up directory to get to it either. So you have to copy the files you need manually from your external to your internal.. it's a big pain in the ass.
So is it possible to create a folder shortcut or symbolic link to the sd-ext from within the internal sd card?
Kinda like in windows, you can create a folder shortcut to c:\windows from c:\program files\
Then you could just open that "shortcut" as if you were opening that folder. That would make things much easier
Sure

Just want to ask, because I can't find some folders when I connect my phone to the PC, like the screenshot folder or obb files in my internal memory, however when I'm using file commander it's there.
