Jbed: Where are the scrollbars? - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
Ever since I have been using jbed (for opera mini or for gmail apps), I have run into the same very annoying problem that is : data input field doesn't have scroll bars.
So basically, any time I write an email or anything long enough to fill up the empty area from the top of the screen to my SIP Keyboard, at the time the text reaches the keyboard, no scroll bar appears and I find myself writing a blind email. I have to keep hiding and putting back my SIP to check if what I am writing is ok. This is very annoying and doesn't happen in other applications like the Note taking one for instance.
Do you have any idea on how to get those scrollbars? (more basically, to reduce the size of the text input area to the visible area) I don't know if the problem comes from Jbed or from my SIP (none of the SIP I have show me scrollbars... see what I mean...) but it would be a great improvement to be able to see what you write from the beginning ... to the end...
Thanks in advance for your help!

Anyone has the same problem? Is not showing scrollbars in text input fields a regular behavior for Jbed? Is there anything to do?
Please, feedback me on that issue, even if there is nothing to do to fix that.

Couple ideas/requests

Figured I'd post this where some developers might actually see it. Please let me know if anything already exists to do what I'm looking for.
I Just got a new 8525 (USA carrier: Cingular, slightly modified HTC TyTN) and love it so far. BUT there are a couple things I'd love to change...
The FIRST is disabling the flashing notification LEDs, there's two around the front earpiece, the one on the right flashes green for cellular network connectivity and is on solid when charging (orange then green when charged). On the left is one that flashes blue for BT but green for WiFi.
There's already an effort at MoDaCo BUT it also disables vibrate. Need to keep vibrate and ideally would like to keep the ability for the phone to use the LEDs for notifications (voice mail, call missed, etc). Even in my shirt pocket the flashing is always catching my eye.
Next, I'd really like a way to send all audio to a simple BT earphone (i.e. not an AD2P stereo jobbie) for listening to podcasts, audio books, etc unobtrusively. There's something out there called BTAudio, but it doesn't seem to work on this device. When I run it there's noise audible in the earphone, but audio through media player still comes out of the speaker, not the earphone.
Seems this would be useful for all HTCs (and any others?) with slide out keyboards: a way to disable the popup of the onscreen keyboard. An example: I'll open something that requires text entry, the keyboard pops up, I slide the phone open, the onscreen keyboard goes away, I enter stuff into the field then go on to the next one, and the d_mn onscreen keyboard will often popup again, which is very annoying because if covers much of the screen especially in landscape.
--Maybe a way to link disabling the popup to being in landscape?? Would just as soon keep the on-screen button for the keyboard though, with it's notifications for shift and blue dot...
Well, is there any hope?

Did you read my related article ( http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=1398&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1 )?
Bluetooth Audio is reported to work with the Hermes / TyTN. Please see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=278778
BTW, do you want me to relocate the thread to the TyTN forum?
I figure it applies to more then just the TyTN, which is why I put it here. These forums are so segregated now...
I think I FOUND a solution for popup onscreen keyboard annoyance:

you don't need any new soft to disable popup keyboard. first of all, it disappears the moment you start typing with slideout one, and stays gone until you manually activate it. another thing, also found here without any effort tells you about a registry tweak to disable it permamently. search.

Yeah, the popup goes away, then pops back up as soon as you move to the next field, possibly covering it, then goes away when you type, then comes up again next field... Especially annoying with the gmail midlet (which has problems of its own relating to selecting fields in the first place).
Would appreciate a link for the registry tweak, haven't seen it in any of the Hermes/TyTN tweaking threads, and there doesn't seem to be a way to set nullKB to be the default.

try this out for the sip problems... personally don't know how it does, as im fine with ignoring the virtual keyboard;]
I'll have to try that, thanks Banannq.
So I came up with a few more things I'd like a way to do or would be eager to help somebody beta test
The first two relate to being able to unlock and show off the phone to friends and co-workers while keeping some things private...
1: Except maybe for replying to an SMS I really would like a way to make it so I have to enter a password to run the messages/email program, or even better to enter certain folders within it. Love the way Hotmail works on the PPC, but without some way to keep my private email private I just can't use it.
2: Ability to set a default filter in contacts, for example I'd use the 'no categories' filter, but others have many other uses for this. Not sure if I'd want it to apply to quick dialing or caller ID in the phone app, but an option for that too would be nice.
This is just a general one I've heard many ask for:
3: The ability to set the Calendar application's default opening view, for me it'd be 'month'.
Any of these things possible? Anybody else have some small changes/options they'd love to see added?

H/W keyboard input lag issue. (SIP Related?)

Hi guys. Long time lurker here, first time poster - So before I get in to it I'll just take this opportunity to thank you guys for the countless times you contributing members have saved my ass, provided useful advice or applications - XDA-Developers rocks.
Secondly, I apologise if this issue has been covered, but I searched through the forums, googled 'n' whatnot, and got no love.
Okay - The problem I'm having is with input lag - Whenever I try to type anything on the hardware keyboard, there is an SIP running, suggesting words & alterations, and this SIP is massively slow - I can type out about 15 words before it finishes accepting the input for the first one. Am I the only one having this trouble?
I believe it's an issue with the "Full QWERTY" SIP installed by default on the device, but I can't seem to change the SIP to another option - it changes itself back automatically whenever the keyboard is used. I can't find a way to remove a factory installed SIP without flashing the ROM (Which I don't really want to do right now..) and I've tried SIPChange and another similar piece of software to no gain. I've disabled all suggestions and corrections, and this makes negligable difference to the speed of input.
So, if anyone is able to help me either remove the SIP - My preferred option - or simply stop it being so damned slow, my thanks in advance.
Did you change from t9 to abc in the on screen keyboard? There will be a slider from t9 to ABC. Then go and disable all the spell checks and word completion in the settings. That worked for me.
I appreciate the quick Response, Raspster, but I've already done that. It did remove one of the issues - that annoying grey bar - but the keyboard input is still way slower than it should be. My old TyTN was much faster.
Potential fix
Hi guys, try this seemed to work for me kb much faster on text input only for main body of message though, not for contact selection. Using a reg editor navigate to HKCU/ControlPanel/Keybd then find value key InitialDelay and change to 0 or any smaller value. Mine set to 0 so keyboard responds almost instantly. naturally a soft reset is required. cheers
How did you get the annoying grey box to disappear? I think I have unchecked all the right things, but it is still there.
Thanks for your help
Steve
Sorry about the delayed reply, Steve. To get rid of the grey box, all I did was open up the on-screen "Full QWERTY" keyboard, and there is a selection button for T9/ABC. Slide it to ABC, and the annoying T9 box is gone. :]

Test changes size

Okay it's not a huge issue and I can live with it, however I'm interested to see if anybody else experiences the same problem. With my email I have set text size to smallest, but now and again it decides to change on it's own to largest when I open an email
Note: Tiltle should read TEXT
If you brush the scroll 'wheel' the the text changes size, up or down. You're probably pressing the center button and activating the scroll wheel.
I find that sometimes the scroll wheel doesn't work at all. Other times, I can work it with the slightest touch. It really gets on my tits.
Thanks guys will give it a try and be more carfull
Edit: Although now Im trying to do it on purpose, I can't
Yes that works

HTC HD2 niggles

I wondered if anyone has some advice for me? I am quite a novice with this device (or any device):
1. I cannot download a working Flash player. Any suggestions?
2. When I try to reply to SMS messages in a thread, often pressing on the 'Tap to compose text' box simply doesn't work. If I press the last incoming message and get the menu 'Forward/Deleted Message/Copy to SIM/Move to SIM/View Message Datails' 1-2 times, it then sometimes works.
3. If I am using the internet (Opera) and I access a Google Map, it comes up as a narrow strip of the map (about one inch of the left hand side, but the whole length of the map). Do I have to use the Google Maps app (I do have this).
4. My e-mail is a hotmail (Windows Live) account. I prefer to view this as per the full PC page. Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't. Whatever, I always get an error message and am told XML parsing has failed (syntax error) and am given the option of reparsing document as HTML - this is the point where it either works or doesn't.
5. In IE, I cannot enlarge and reduce pages using finger and thumb. Is that normal? I can do it in Opera.
Thanks

Issue with Keyboard

Hi all, been lurking for a while but thought I would finally post up.
Having an issue with my Nexus S on stock ROM v2.3.3. It isn't the same issues with the keyboard disappearing etc but it is an issue with the keyboard not inputting text when I type.
If I am typing a SMS reply to someone on my phone and I pause for a few seconds (to talk to someone for example) then I try to continue typing, the keyboard acts like its typing but does not actually type anything else into the message. The only fix I have managed to discover is exit the SMS so that a draft gets saved then once I go back into the message it works again.
Don't know if that is a clear enough description but if anyone else has any suggestions or even a fix for it then it would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Yeah I have that too sometimes. What also happens to me about every week is, that the smiley sections' and the (particularly important for me since I'm from Austria and using the German keyboard ü-ö-ä) special buttons and symbols' pop up extension (hard to describe, but I mean the thing that pops up when you put your finger on the expandable tile for like 2 second and which let's you select the unusual symbols from a list) simply will not pop up. So it would make it impossible for me to choose from the pre-created smileys etc.
I have found out that changing your input method to another keyboard (I use SwiftKey in these cases) and then changing it back Android keyboard make the problems disappear. But they seem to come back regularly and I haven't found out what causes them to appear...
Any help?
