Okay it's not a huge issue and I can live with it, however I'm interested to see if anybody else experiences the same problem. With my email I have set text size to smallest, but now and again it decides to change on it's own to largest when I open an email
Note: Tiltle should read TEXT
If you brush the scroll 'wheel' the the text changes size, up or down. You're probably pressing the center button and activating the scroll wheel.
I find that sometimes the scroll wheel doesn't work at all. Other times, I can work it with the slightest touch. It really gets on my tits.
Thanks guys will give it a try and be more carfull
Edit: Although now Im trying to do it on purpose, I can't
Yes that works

Figured I'd post this where some developers might actually see it. Please let me know if anything already exists to do what I'm looking for.
I Just got a new 8525 (USA carrier: Cingular, slightly modified HTC TyTN) and love it so far. BUT there are a couple things I'd love to change...
The FIRST is disabling the flashing notification LEDs, there's two around the front earpiece, the one on the right flashes green for cellular network connectivity and is on solid when charging (orange then green when charged). On the left is one that flashes blue for BT but green for WiFi.
There's already an effort at MoDaCo BUT it also disables vibrate. Need to keep vibrate and ideally would like to keep the ability for the phone to use the LEDs for notifications (voice mail, call missed, etc). Even in my shirt pocket the flashing is always catching my eye.
Next, I'd really like a way to send all audio to a simple BT earphone (i.e. not an AD2P stereo jobbie) for listening to podcasts, audio books, etc unobtrusively. There's something out there called BTAudio, but it doesn't seem to work on this device. When I run it there's noise audible in the earphone, but audio through media player still comes out of the speaker, not the earphone.
Seems this would be useful for all HTCs (and any others?) with slide out keyboards: a way to disable the popup of the onscreen keyboard. An example: I'll open something that requires text entry, the keyboard pops up, I slide the phone open, the onscreen keyboard goes away, I enter stuff into the field then go on to the next one, and the d_mn onscreen keyboard will often popup again, which is very annoying because if covers much of the screen especially in landscape.
--Maybe a way to link disabling the popup to being in landscape?? Would just as soon keep the on-screen button for the keyboard though, with it's notifications for shift and blue dot...
Well, is there any hope?

Did you read my related article ( http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=1398&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1 )?
Bluetooth Audio is reported to work with the Hermes / TyTN. Please see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=278778
BTW, do you want me to relocate the thread to the TyTN forum?
I figure it applies to more then just the TyTN, which is why I put it here. These forums are so segregated now...
I think I FOUND a solution for popup onscreen keyboard annoyance:
http://personales.ya.com/beemer/dow..._WM2003_WM5.zip
you don't need any new soft to disable popup keyboard. first of all, it disappears the moment you start typing with slideout one, and stays gone until you manually activate it. another thing, also found here without any effort tells you about a registry tweak to disable it permamently. search.

Yeah, the popup goes away, then pops back up as soon as you move to the next field, possibly covering it, then goes away when you type, then comes up again next field... Especially annoying with the gmail midlet (which has problems of its own relating to selecting fields in the first place).
Would appreciate a link for the registry tweak, haven't seen it in any of the Hermes/TyTN tweaking threads, and there doesn't seem to be a way to set nullKB to be the default.

try this out for the sip problems... personally don't know how it does, as im fine with ignoring the virtual keyboard;]
I'll have to try that, thanks Banannq.
So I came up with a few more things I'd like a way to do or would be eager to help somebody beta test
The first two relate to being able to unlock and show off the phone to friends and co-workers while keeping some things private...
1: Except maybe for replying to an SMS I really would like a way to make it so I have to enter a password to run the messages/email program, or even better to enter certain folders within it. Love the way Hotmail works on the PPC, but without some way to keep my private email private I just can't use it.
2: Ability to set a default filter in contacts, for example I'd use the 'no categories' filter, but others have many other uses for this. Not sure if I'd want it to apply to quick dialing or caller ID in the phone app, but an option for that too would be nice.
This is just a general one I've heard many ask for:
3: The ability to set the Calendar application's default opening view, for me it'd be 'month'.
Any of these things possible? Anybody else have some small changes/options they'd love to see added?
Hi,
Ever since I have been using jbed (for opera mini or for gmail apps), I have run into the same very annoying problem that is : data input field doesn't have scroll bars.
So basically, any time I write an email or anything long enough to fill up the empty area from the top of the screen to my SIP Keyboard, at the time the text reaches the keyboard, no scroll bar appears and I find myself writing a blind email. I have to keep hiding and putting back my SIP to check if what I am writing is ok. This is very annoying and doesn't happen in other applications like the Note taking one for instance.
Do you have any idea on how to get those scrollbars? (more basically, to reduce the size of the text input area to the visible area) I don't know if the problem comes from Jbed or from my SIP (none of the SIP I have show me scrollbars... see what I mean...) but it would be a great improvement to be able to see what you write from the beginning ... to the end...
Thanks in advance for your help!
Anyone has the same problem? Is not showing scrollbars in text input fields a regular behavior for Jbed? Is there anything to do?
Please, feedback me on that issue, even if there is nothing to do to fix that.
Has anyone else noticed this, or know of a way to fix it. On certain applications, like contact list, for instance. You use your finger to scroll down or up, and the screen just takes off. it eventually slows down, but only after skipping like half of the contacts. It also does this in a few other places like in the file explorer. It works really smooth when I use the call history tab or the program tab. Is there any way to correct this or is it just something you learn to deal with.
Well yeah.....I know what your talking about. Happens to me too. And well....I've made my peace with it...lol. It's probably the touch screen trying to differentiate between a tap using your finger and your nail. When you see your screen taking off that way, just tap the screen again...it stops right away.
Usually if i do it in my contacts i immediatly put my finger down on the screen to stop it and then i scroll a little slower
ya, I've made my peace with it too. It's not a big deal. I just figured someone mite have figured out a way to smooth it out. hadn't seen anything so I figured i'd ask. Definetly a small price to pay for this pimp phone.
You can modify its behavior like this:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.php?p=541168&postcount=14
hey all, two questions. first, I was wondering if anyone has figured out (or bothered to look into lol) changing the behavior of the back button in messaging. it seems like it goes back to the last message you were on, even if it's the same one you're still on. it'd be nice to have it just go back to the message list every time. i get this may be a bug that's being worked out, but hey, there's no harm in asking
second, would it be possible to make the keyboard enter key not send messages? i don't care if it does nothing, i just don't want it to send the damn message... i think like 1/3 of the messages i type wound up getting sent prematurely. it would be nice to just have the one on-sceen send button.
thanks so much
Well, if you use ChompSMS, you can set it so the enter key will just put a return line in, instead of sending the message. It's a setting that you can toggle on/off. Thats about the best I can give you right now.
cool... this little iphone knockoff looks pretty sweet. now i just have to figure out how to change the icon to match my theme
thanks a lot
The font size in my text message screen has grown out of control in the last week. I was typing a message about 4 days ago and the font in the thread started increasing as I tried to type.
This led me to believe it was some combo of keys I pressed that made it happen.
However I swear today it is even bigger. Easily a 14 and that is huge on this little screen.
I have the 08.14.09 Bloat Free Official HTC Fuze ROM Update and it has been fine since Nov. This only just happened recently and it happened while I was watching. No other changes have been made.
My searches keep pointing to utilities/downloads that let you control it, but I just want it back to normal. Do not want to add more software. This just happened...so there has to be a way to undo it.
Anyone know where the text font settings are controlled. (I also have registry editor and advanced donfig installed if those might have settings in em...have to go look.)
Oh damn, talk about breaking the rules. I guess I need to search ON this forum and not assume that Google knows all.

Ok, text issues are controlled by the zoom feature same as images are. DOH!
(Flaming can now begin, I deserve it.)
Side note, I have been having issues with buttons sticking or not working on first press. Phone just about 1.5yr old. So not surprised that the main pad on front may have done stuff without me touching it. (Del button not work all time, space bar now up to 3 spaces occasionally, etc.)

I agree with you that he should use the search, but what would you search for if you didn't know the problem?
Anyway, when your typing a message, try moving your finger around the center of your device, You will see then how it works.
