Hi Guys,
I've just got a shaddow to replace my MDA (broken screen and free to good home if you can send call tag to pick it up in Atlanta). I've used xda-developers for a few years now and have always found the guys here helpful.
Anyway, I want to start putting a few tweaks together for the shadow not least of them is to store email attachments on my sd card. Can any one point me in the right direction? I've looked for a forum and tried searching for what I need but generally just come up with a load of noise.
I'd like to get this thing unlocked and even look for a nicer cooked rom.
Thanks in advance.

Loving the phone been browsing the forums for a while now but first post lots of great work on here much appreciated
last night i decided i didnt like the vodafone rom that was on there it was almost identical to the one listed in the wiki except the protocol was different i had 52.33.25.17U but 52.33.25.17H is listed
but i installed hardSPL and put on a new htc branded rom and love it because its default black
battery life is great had an annoyance with the data connection keep coming on when i wasnt using wifi but if stopped that now so thats great
only thing im not liking right now is when i go to messages on the touchflo bar at the bottom it shows the last message and its contents and i dont think its that private so if anyone knows of a way to change that would be much appreciated
but is there a way i can get it all back to stock and get my warrenty back now after ive installed hardSPL and a new ROM?
yes you can ive posted the rom here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427507
i have the same issue with the messages
suppose u do have the option to password your phone tho
Hey guys,
Great forums here, lots of awesome stuff going on and the development community is kicking!
I recently got rid of my iPhone (couldn't stand Job's arrogance anymore) and decided to go with the cost effective route of MetroPCS. When I found Android phones could be flashed to work with it, I was quite excited. I found a phone and someone to do the flashing on Craigslist (actually a local phone shop that does it).
He flashed my phone and loaded Evil Eris onto it. I wasn't under the impression that if he put this rom on, I was going to have issues, like no voicemail notification or softkey leds. Going into this, I was pretty unaware of all the different rom choices, and the effects they have on the phone, and I still kind of am. So I have a few questions, because I've been reading about Ivans and kind of want to try it out, but want to make sure I've covered all my bases.
1. I am still unaware of the exclusivity or co-dependence that "flashing" a phone and changing a rom have with one another. He flashed my phone to work with Metro, and upload the Evil Eris rom. Main question is - if I wipe and load Ivans, do I lose the ability to use Metro? Or is it simply an issue of loading up my Metro APN (i think thats right) settings once I've loaded the new rom?
2. Nandroid backup - I made one the other day. If I go in, try another rom, and screw something up, I am under the impression that I could restore that backup and my phone be working like I never left it, including MetroPCS settings, correct?
3. Can anyone suggest a good program to backup and restore carrier specific settings, so that if I load a new rom I can quickly port settings over? Does something like this exist?
4. Finally, if all of this has been answered somewhere where I didn't find, feel free to send me to those links!
Thanks in advance, everyone! Looking forward to getting to know my new phone better!
anyone able to help me out? or point me in the right direction?
I also want to make sure I posted this in the right place, not sure if it needs to be in the Eris specific forum.
I really hope you've found help already. But if not, I THINK the app called "APN Backup & Restore" is the app you're looking for.
i had my htc around 5 months and it broke, so i got a new one from virgin and it came today.
ive just switched it on and it had a virgin media quick link. so i went to delete it and its got a little lock where the X should be.
anyone know how to get rid of this?
xx ty xx
oh and to top it all off its got a ****ty virgin logo as my phone loads up... wish i still had my old one
=[
This will be cooked into the rom I guess, you can flash it and that may solve your problem. Maybe if you unlock you phone.
there were some cabs floating around to remove the OEM links, not sure if they were for Virgin or not, but you should consider a custom ROM ..
Also , this really should have been in Q&A ....
sorry for not posting in the right place..
whats a custom rom? is better than just installing loads of cabs?
please im really stupid can you explain. ill be you best friend

So, after selling my x7501, about 3 years ago, I have had the HTC Touch Pro (unlocked), HTC Touch Pro 2 (Tmobile US), & now the HTC HD2 (Tmobile US) - don't get me wrong, they were all great devices in their on right, but I was much, much happier & productive with my x7501. & with those devices I still have 2 carry a netbook - not 2 mention all the freezing & resetting i am dealing with with my HD2 - such a headache! in order 2 get back to my "happy place" I am in the process of ordering an x7510!
Question: Can someone tell me what's the maximum size memory card it supports??
Double post
it depends what rom you use (my one has the latest drivers/build ), 16gb card works. (haven't tried 32gb)
Thank you!! I'm sorry for the double post i hit the back browser by mistake & couldn't figure out how to delete one - but thank you for replying, I appreciate it!
I notice in your signature line you have WM6.5, is it easy to upgrade from 6.1?

You can't 'upgrade', its like a 'full instalation' , it does a hard rest and so you lose your data. Also you need to change your stock SPL to a hard SPL found in the sticky.
i guess i will have 2 try it when i receive my phone, before i load anything.
i hope the process is painless, i've never did a full install before.
on that thread will it give me information & warnings on what to look out for? will i loose any valuable programs thats already installed on the phone?
You can always revert if you don't like it, no problem.
Hey, chellie, good to see an 'old' new X7510 user.
It's very simple to change your ROM.
First of all, read this thread about Hard-SPL: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=441684
After that, just select the ROM that you want. We have few 'chefs' here. So there are few options, but all of them are making good ROMs.
The new one is from Vico100.
Unfortunately, 6.5.x does not support RealVGA (if you don't know about this app, search it here on xda. It is a real new life for X7510 to make it as a wonderful netbook).

Thank you hiroshi.rio.
I owned a x7501 previously, but I used it stock.
With purchasing the x7510, I may just do the same, I am way to nervous to dry to change or update the ROMs - I have no experience in doing so, and I don't wanna mess anything up
I appreciate the information and I will look at the recommended forum and take in as much info as I can.
So updating the system or changing it to RealVGA makes it more like a netbook? That sounds interesting, I have to look into that.
Hello everybody,
First time posting but great job with all the advice given on this forum.
I recently bought a BLU Pure XL phone online (not sure I can post where I bought it from). When I was playing around with it, I found some ringtones that go on for about 30 seconds and have names like turkish_music or persian_wow_music. This is my second BLU device and I can recognize some ringtones also present on my other phone (Life One), and their naming is, for example, HalfwayHome and the length of those is not more than 10 seconds. I have screenshots if this would help, but again I am not sure if I am allowed to post them and I would like some guidance on how .
I was wondering if they are part of the default ROM or if someone was using my phone before I purchased it, because I only bought the specific one that was listed as new. Do they exist on anyone else's phone as well?
I was offered a free exchange but I would like to make sure the phone is not new before I proceed, since this will probably involve paying the shipping costs, and having to wait for the new phone to arrive. Is there a definite way to find out if the phone was used before I got it? I have searched for hours upon hours and also tried all the relevant secret codes but most of them didn't even open the respective menu they were supposed to open.
I would much appreciate your help or your view on this.
Thank you

I can assure you those are the default international ringtones you speak of. If you factory data reset the phone, you will still see the same ringtones. I personally would visually inspect the phone along with its packaging to ensure it is new and not used. Good luck!

There are no visible marks on the phone or the box. I just was thrown off by the existence of those ringtones. No other data/apps or anything else exists on the phone. I already tried resetting and they are still there so I guess you must be right. Do you have the international version as well? Are those ringtones present in yours as well?

I honestly wouldn't worry about it then. I bought my phone from Amazon here in the USA. I am 100% positive it's brand new and I have the same ringtones. I wouldn't exchange the phone for that reason alone. I had to exchange my first one since it had a small screen defect. My second one the fingerprint sensor started acting up. I'm on my third one and (knock on wood) it's been perfect. I've had it for over two months now. All three phones had the same ringtones. I personally think it's cool how it has such a variety of ringtones.

Thank you very much for your reassuring answers. :good: I hope that your 3rd is the charm. I also think it's cool to have lots of ringtones. I may even have some more on it in the near future. Oh well, for now, let's get comfortable with the new phone first
