Hardware issues anyone? - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Yesterday my fuze started doing somthing strange. During an incoming call the bottom buttons started blinking rapidly as usual all except the hang up button and wouldnt stop even after i answered the call. It would occasionally randomly start flashing at random times and appeared to start when the lower pad was touched or jiggled. Anyone else with this?
I restarted and it hasnt done that again but the hang up button still doesn't flash. I cant remember though if it ever did. Can anyone help me out? Also there is a Speck of dust under the glass that drives me nuts but its not a huge deal, anyone else on this?
And finally like a lot of others i have a fuze with a terrible speaker/ringer. Also i've noticed i get feedback when im talking to people, almost as if im hearing a quiet voice of myself in the speaker as im talking. Not enough to be overly distracting but enough to notice...once again anyone?
The strange thing is though, i love the phone still. Too bad att doesnt have anything comparible for me to fall back on. Thanks for any observations anyone has.

ive been having the same problem with my Fuze where all the lower buttons (except the "end" button) begin to flash rapidly as if there's an incoming call, but there is no incoming call... Havn't been able to tell if its random or if its happening b/c of something im doing.. i will update once it happens a few more times and i know more... but for now, anyone have any ideas?

im glad to see im not the only one, i thought i had been imagining things. i have had the same trouble determining if it was something i caused or not as well. The first time it happened i was convinced it was merely a software issue but a few times i was able to get it to repeat by just tapping the bottom of the phone. can anyone let us know if the fuze is supposed to flash all but the end button wheb recieving a call?

I purchased a G1 from a third party, unfortunately When I powered it up It took me to The screen that has the exlamation point, and said it wasnt reading my SIM card and that I can only dial Emergency 911. That is the only thing that appears on the screen when I power it up. no matter what I do? I have an active T-mobile sim card with the data plan that works in other data phones, so I know thats not the issue. I have spoken to several T-mobile Tech support people and I am getting no where! They told Me that they could not do anything for me with no warranty. In the mean time I'm out a couple hundred bucks! The phone is brand new! I'm about 95% positive that it is a Hardware issue? T-mobile told me that it is basically just a paper weight? Frustrating!!!! Can anyone help? any Suggestions?

lol why are you asking about the g1 in a raphael/TP/Fuze forum?
and if you didn't buy it through tmobile i'd say you're out of luck. try contacting htc to see if tehy can do anything about it. also, try different sims, tmobile and nontmobile

[Q] buggy Focus... anyone else?

Hi all, my Focus was doing some weird things, including sporadic reception issues, so I went to an ATT warranty center and got it replaced. Unfortunately, this phone has the same issues AND more.
First of all, about half the time, if I go somewhere with NO reception, and then enter an area with reception, it won't find reception without turning the phone off and on, even if I toggle the data network in the settings. This is especially annoying because my office has no reception in the cafeteria/main entrance, yet my cubicle does. My old phone did not do this.
Second, on my first Focus, I picked a SMS sound on day one, after a few months, I changed it to something else. about 15% of the time, it would play the original sound, then immediately play the second one... Well this phone is doing the SAME thing, but I've only used one SMS tone. I find this especially puzzling.
Third, this phone occasionally won't flip from horizontal to vertical and vice versa. It seems like whatever mechanism tells the phone the way it's oriented is broken.
Fourth, yesterday, my phone went from a 100% charge to 0% and a warning that it was critically low. I took the battery out multiple times, and when it was plugged it, it would show that it was charging, but then not gain anywhere on the status meter. After pulling the battery for like the 10th time, it came up as 100%.
Has anyone else experienced any bugs like this?
This will be the 4th time I've gone into the ATT warranty center... I am the type who is always rational and polite, but this is getting annoying. I hope ATT gives me a credit or something. I wish I could get a NEW phone and not a warranty replacement refurb that is clearly not working like it should.
I've never experienced anything like what you're talking about. As far as orientation not switching, it does happen if say I take a picture in landscape mode, then MMS the picture to someone and turn the phone upright as I enter the message.

I get that too, but I'm talking about IE and other instances. Guess I should have mentioned that.
Thanks for weighing in!
never also with my focus....what u do to urs jw lol
I have the same reception problem. Everytime I go into my gym I lose AT&T and have to reboot. It started happening the minute I did the March Update.
For everything it fixed it broke something else for me.
I think your issues are hardware flaws, rather than software bugs...just change to another device.I think they should allow you to do so as long as the value of the plan is equal.

Hi, I don't have a focus but have noticed this on my HTC Mozart so am wondering if it could be a software bug?
My phone seems to either pick a SMS tone at random, play 2, one after the other, or not play one at all depending how its feeling that day and depending if I'm using the phone when a message comes in lol!

I've noticed that with mine (HTC Arrive) it plays the 10th ringtone by default whenever the phone is facing up or flipped over. But when it's flipped over and the first ringtone plays then you flip it over, the screen lights up and then the second ringtone plays (I think its ringtone 5). Weird...
Well, the warranty center swapped out my Focus. I told them it had "a reception issue," but did not explain what it was, and then told about how the phone screen was not rotating depending on how it was oriented. Guy went into the back, presumably to check out the issue, and he came back saying that he confirmed it was not rotating properly, so he gave me a new one. He didn't even care to hear about the other issues. I've been into the warranty store multiple times in the last two weeks, and every time they've said that the Focus is not typically a phone that comes in with issues... so we'll see what happens.
Of note, the guy who gave me a new phone did not set it up properly, so data was not working. I had to call customer service to get my IMEI number updated. I politely explained how much of a hassle this has been and was given a $25 credit on my account.
I'm back at my cubicle at work, so I've gone through the basement with no reception, and it was able to find the network on its own when I got out of the dead zone... hopefully that means this phone is working properly.
However, I am moving to a new house in mid June, and I am 99% sure the house is in a dead spot... urg. If it's as bad as I figure it will be, I guess I'll see if AT&T will give me a free microcell AND free service for it; otherwise, I'll have to switch to Verizon.
Thanks for weighing in everyone. It seems like there is some sort of ringer issue because others are reporting it too.
I have the reception issue too, have to reboot the phone to fix it however, I haven't experienced any of your other issues (samsung focus here)
Maybe they are giving you your old phone (refurbished) and u just keep getting the same phone over and over again. (doubt it, but you never know)

Am I the only one having serious proximity sensor problems (hang ups)

this has gotten to be a real serious problem for me - hanging up with my face while on a call. i am surprised this isn't talked about more here. any help would be appreciated! is it possible for the dev's to not only remove the end call button but the mute as well?
so far you are the only one that has ever reported anything like that,ya know it could be a hardware defekt

Nope I'm in the same boat as im sure are many others. I have only ever had it actually impact me I think twice on phone calls out of almost a hundred or so that I have had since I purchased the phone. All the others times though it was extremely annoying to keep hearing the click sounds of the screen turning on and off on and off on and off etc.
I keep hoping for a software update that addresses the sensitivity of the sensor, but still no
I also wonder how much the battery is affected by the screen turning on and off repeatedly while in a phone conversation...
I get the same. More on my right ear than my left, but it will often take a digit that I just typed for an automated system and try to dial it, resulting in an alarm tone in my ear during the conversation.
sorry but i have 3 different bolts, the 1st one was rooted stock had that problem but it also went into the brick loop so it got replaced, rooted that one but never had the prob again, this one has the bamf 2 prev 3 on it and no probs that is why i suggested harware cause my first one had major hardware issues

i get it too. but i dont call so much. so i dont really care lol
I too had this problem, and did some quick searching on Google. Stumbled upon someone who said to spray it with canned air to clean it out. To my surprise, it worked. There is just enough room between the screen and the body of the phone for dust/crap to get in and it hinders both the light and proximity sensors.
You might be holding the phone in a weird position?
THUNDERBOLT
Damn, you lean something new every day, this thing makes phone calls too!
I've had the issue too recently. But it only started when I returned the last phone to stock. Before that, I had a small issue with it, but it didn't happen often.

I have the screen turn on during calls, but I've never had a face hang up. Honestly I think the screen turns on for me, but can't be interacted with.
Scratch that just did a test. I guess I'm lucky. Then again I don't hold the phone flat to my face. So I guess I would never hit it...
i have had hangups, the mute button pressed, and a 3 way call started. i just tried blowing the screen out with some compressed air as someone suggested. it seems better - will give an update after some testing.
No issues with hang ups for me. Had that problem all the time coming from the X.

I have the same problem and have had it with every Rom I've run and stock. I'm surprised we don't have a way to adjust the proximity sensor yet, that's something I really miss about my Droid X.
After answering a call and putting the tb to my ear, my screen stays on.
Sometimes my ear dials numbers, sometimes the screen stays illuminated but doesn't respond to any touch! I have to toggle the screen on/off with the power button to get the touch response working again.
I have never had an issue. Been on mostly whatever the latest bamf release since rooting.
It happens to me whenever I forget the bluetooth especially after working out or anytime facial area is warmer then normal. I have a screen protector and clean the screen frequently.
I am having the same issue, so I called Verizon yesterday and they are sending me a new phone. I hope it works, because it makes talking on the bolt almost impossible.

Have the same problem...its really annoying man....will not get a refurbished unit until they fix the reboots

ATT HOX Not receiving calls

Anybody else have issues with their phone not receiving calls?
There have been a few times when people have told me that they tried calling me but I never picked up; however, the phone never rang, I never got a missed call notification or anything.
Today, I was looking for my phone and used the house phone to call it. I called it 3 times, it never rang once, it would ring but my HOX never made a sound. I found the phone and stood right next to it, called it, and nothing. As if I wasn't calling it (screen didn't light up, phone never rang).
Anybody else have this sort of issue? I was going to call ATT but they are closed for the holidays.

Well I think it's a valid assumption that they didn't sell you a phone that doesn't ring.
I had that problem with cleanrom and elementalx. Not sure what the problem was, ending up flashing jb from tachi91 and it went away.
But mine rang, but only for a split second, or I couldn't answer it, or it didn't ring but I had a missed call, even tho I was sitting right next to it

On ROMs that have been released from devs, it's a problem with the RIL.smali files in the framework. Simple patch, you just have to notify the dev of that ROM.

I've had this happen a lot with my stock HTC One S.
I have also had this happen but only with notifications on my XL. If my HTC One XL receives a text when on vibrate it will not vibrate half the time. I've watched it happen sitting on my table. I use CleanROM and ElementalX.

thanks for the replies.
should have specified that i'm running a stock rom.
this is my work phone and i can't root it (running the stupid good enterprise email app).
i'm about to backup my phone and try doing a full restore to see if it will solve the issue.

Hello twice before caller hears me?

When I receive a call and slide the green phone symbol to answer, the caller never hears my first hello or two, only hears me after a few seconds go by.
At first I thought it was network related but it has happened in a few other places too including bluetooth in my car.
Any ideas where I can look for the problem?
Phone is unrooted.
Thanks.
Actually, now that I think of it... I believe I might have this issue as well. I can think of a handful of similar instances where this has happened, but it took this thread for my mind to connect the dots. Time to do some testing...
Yeap. Same here. I learned to be quiet for a few seconds. But then there are some like my brother who would get irritated that he doesn't hear me as soon as he picks up.
I really want to say this is an AT&T problem. I have been wondering the same thing. This also happens to me. But not just this phone. All my phones for the past two years. Including my n5. And if you search this problem in Google it's common on our network. And across many phones.

I think this call quality issue is actually a SIM issue

Hi there,
I'm one of the many that's been hit by the call quality issues of the Pixel 3. I use a Pixel 3 white with Tele2 in the Netherlands and I cannot make or receive calls when the problem hits. I also have the problem where I'll cut out every 20 seconds or so any people will tell me they can't hear me.
Restarting it fixes it temporarily and then it just goes on again. It's ridiculous. I'm on my second phone already.
I've found that when this happens, when I go to settings in the Phone app, go to calls and then call forwarding or additional settings, nothing loads. It may even say SIM read error. When I restart the phone, and I can make phone calls properly again, these settings load again. Seeing as these settings are loaded from my SIM settings, I have a feeling something with the phone reading the SIM isn't quite right.
Got T-Mobile NL and especially at home, most times, people can't hear me properly.
call quality
I'm on verizon, and when I call into work conferences from home, I get complaints that I sound like I'm underwater. I've tried disabling advanced calling and that doesn't change anything (was a recommendation in a Google forum). I haven't experienced dropped calls yet, but I don't make a ton of phone calls, so that doesn't mean much.
There are tons of threads like this talking about sound issues when calling. For me the only problem I have is when someone calls me they cant hear me on speaker phone until I turn that off and talk on the regular mic. I dont know why Google hasnt addressed it yet? Leads me to believe that it may not be a software issue that it is more like a hardware problem so they will just keep swapping them out until you are good or they are done swapping and your screwed.

It's so strange, it seems like a software issue. I got one replacement and it does it as well. But a restart fixes it and doing some of the cache clearing fixed it for me for 3 days. Now it's back again.
It would be nice if it were a software issue but it doesnt even seem to be on Googles radar to fix? If they just swap out enough phones for the next few months until the next phone is announced by Google, everyone will want the Pixel 4 and forget about these issues.

P3 white / SIM O2 Germany. I have No problems.
The SIM card is not the problem. When I had my Pixel 3XL and my wife had a Pixel 3, we replaced both our SIM cards. This failed to resolve the issue with both phones. Go read the official product forums. Too many people have ruled that out.
After 3 months without the ability to make phone calls, the only troubleshooting step that worked was to returned the phones and get another model (Oneplus 6t). Calls have been crystal clear using the same SIM cards in all the same environments.
This is either a software issue, or a component issue. I suspect its a component issue. I would put money that there is a bad transmitter or chip-set in the phone. As someone who works with electronics on a daily basis, the intermittent nature of the problem follows the type of symptoms I see when a circuit is slowly building stray capacitance and has no way to bleed out extra potential. Similar to static electricity. This would explain why it goes away for most people for a brief period when they power cycle their phone. It would also explain why not everyone experiences it.
Google may be able to band-aid the hardware defect with software by actually cutting out HD quality on calls and fudging it, and most people won't be able to tell the difference. They might have the ability to power cycle and fulling resent a single component after each phone call. They did the same type of thing when the bottom speaker on the 3XL was buzzing at certain frequencies. They simply programmed the software to prevent the bottom speaker from playing sounds from within those frequencies. Most people aren't going to notice that one of the two speakers is slightly muted.
The only way to remedy this is to have 4g enabled at all times. Calls should then be using volte or HD voice and the issue goes away.
I anable 4g even when wifi is on and calls on both my Pixel 3 (Sold) and Mate 20 Pro are clear and rock stable if not a tiny bit tinny or raspy at the high end due to HD voice.
This is on EE Uk , but I would imagine is similar on cariers from other countries.
On a side note, with O2 I do not have this issue at all so maybe it's something to do with the frequencies or bands the mobile operator is using.
It is definitely not related to the SIM. I have replaced my regular SIM with eSIM on T-Mobile CZ and I still have this issue. I have even transferred my number from Vodafone CZ due to my contract expiring, and its still there.
Hoping after Android Q , this issue will shine [emoji848][emoji848][emoji848]
Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
I have this issue too, updated to the Android Q beta in hopes this would stop it from happening - but it is still happening.
I can hear everyone perfectly well but they say I am breaking up or sometimes I hear terrible interference and the call is dropped. Tried all the troubleshooting steps.
One thing is I noticed if I am using hands free (car's bluetooth or the pixel headphones) the issue never occurs (so far). I am thinking the antenna might be interfered with while it's in my hand. Can everyone try using hands free solutions while not holding the phone and see if it persists?
Thanks

and now we need to know which are those "some 3d party apps"
please, thank you
Remove recently downloaded apps one by one , restart phone normally, then make a call to see if removing that particular app solved the problem. If not, continue until you do find that app. In my case, I had my suspicions on the two that I removed and that was it.
check SIM for scratches
My SIM card is scratched. Could the phone be damaging the SIM upon insertion?
I saw on another forum that their call quality issues go away when they use the headphones that come with the phone. So that would not be consistent with a SIM issue... hmm.
