on downgrading or rooting rc30??? i would just like to kno...
thnx...ciao
Long story short, when there is a result, it will be all over. I would go so far to say as even if there is a small hurdle overcome... it will be the top thread on every Android forum.
Very true. I got screwed with a RC30 phone too, so I have to wait as well. I'm sure with time, someone will find a way. Of course if you don't like waiting, you can always buy a dev phone.
Or better yet get a replacement phone. I had a bum trackball on my old one, got my replacement and it came with rc29 on it. I'm now running rc30 rooted.
I'm past T-Mobile's grace period. Is it possible to get a replacement? My keys are all bashed in.
What was the cause of it, dropped it? If you dropped it then probably no chance. You can always call and ask them if there is anything they can do, its worth a shot! I had my old one since the g1 first came out and no problems returning it for me.

T-Mobile support has been very bad to me. No I did not drop it, it came that way. And the screen squeaks.

well yes there is a warranty, but if the keys are smashed in (probably physical damage) that warranty would be voided....

BUT i got my g1 off ebay and i dont have a receipt so i dont know if they will take it any thoughts maybe someone who payed in cash could scan me a receipt,?

I called them (HTC, T-Mobile said they couldn't help because I didn't have my original contract with them ) and they said they were going to "repair" my "problem."
So a repair won't do, a replacement is the only option for us.

well if you bought it off ebay, t-mobile has no obligation to replace it for you. that is a service for T-Mobile customers. you would need to speak to HTC directly.

HTC has an obligation to repair/replace the device under the 1 year warranty regardless of whether you bought the phone on or off contract. Problem is, you cant submit a claim directly through HTC, only T-Mobile.
Well I switched from an iPhone 4 to the Nexus S (Nexus S is better) but I used a micro-sim adaptor but when I took it out one day it took a pin with it. I called Samsung and they said they don't do repairs like that so where in Canada can I get this repaired? I would love any advice. Thanks!
- Ryan
Same crap happened to me. But I guess I got a little lucky cuz only half of the pin broke off, the other half I just bent up so it would touch the sim when it was put in. Worked for me. Idk if yours came off completely or partially like mine did

Well one of the pins is shorter and one is completely missing so I guess I was not as lucky as you haha. Do you think I could take it to somewhere like Best Buy and just pay to repair it? Or will I have to go to a speciality cell phone repair place?

The person on the phone said as long as it's not physical damage they can fix it for free... which is ridiculous if you ask me because most people on this forum could fix any non-physical damage on the Nexus.
They told me to go to Rogers for some reason to get it repaired even though I said I got the phone as a gift and it was not from Rogers. I guess I'll try calling them again to see if I can get anyone more helpful.

I'd check Craigslist, there's always shops that do these kind of fixes. There's plenty here in Philly so I'm sure there're some where u are

Sorry for the bump but I still have not found a solution to this and I'm looking for any suggestions.
This is probably your best option right now:

Other than that, don't think anyone was able to find any replacement unit online.

Well after a long time of playing with it I manage to get the phone to read my sim by putting strips of tin foil on the contacts on the sim card. Disappoints me that I have to do this though and now the phone has no resale value.
I just got mine spoiled after returning from a holiday I've tried putting the copper thing back in place and slotting it back but it doesn't work. Now i have to wait till tomorrow to call Samsung support in hope that they will fix it if i pay money because my device has no warranty because it is from Australia and i'm using it in Singapore. Will they accept it to fix it if i pay for the repair?
And can anyone who used aluminium foil or anything to make it work post photos or videos on how to do it? I have no experience in soldering and stuff (15 years old) and i dont know how much foil to put there. Please help me!

I had similar problem with my Nexus S. I just went to Carphonewarehouse and told them that my sim is not being registering. They have fixed it for free but it took nearly 3 week.
Sent mine to samsung on monday 21st. he said 1-3 days so tomorrow will be the 3rd day which is the 24th. Hope i receive the call to collect it tomorrow. I miss my nexus

Your post is kind of contradictory. You say they wont fix it for free. That suggests that YES they will fix it, but not for free. Which makes total sense, since you physically broke the phone yourself. That's not covered under warranty.
But then you go on to say they told you to talk to Rogers. Your post is very confusing.
Rogers is a carrier. If you have some sort of damage plan or replacement coverage they may help you. Otherwise, at best, they're just going to send it Samsung in the first place. More likely, they won't touch it.
Your options are to try to repair it yourself, try a local shop, or try Samsung again. I seriously doubt that they wouldn't repair it, for $$$.
Or get a 3rd party warranty. Although, that would be pretty unethical and possibly illegal, filing a claim for damage that occurred before you signed up for the plan.

Yeap they got it repaired within a week!
I was listening to music this morning and it suddenly stopped. I've checked everything and I think the speaker is broken. No sound comes out at all. Is the mt4g notorious for this problem? And should I get a replacement under htc or t-mobile?

Dammit I meant speaker lol.
Fixed it.
Bump? Can someone at least tell me whether to go under HTC's warranty, or T-Mobiles monthly paid one?
Bump? This has got 300 views already, come on.
I dont think is a known issue, it will be easier to deal with tmobile. tmobile will send you a new one then you mail the bad one back. where as with htc youll have to mail it to them.

So there is a $130 deductible for the mytouch 4g with the PHP bundle. Would replacing a broken speaker go under that warranty, or would T-Mobile do it for free?
how old is it and did you buy it from tmobile
I've also had the speaker go out on me for my MT4G. I got it replaced under warranty through tmobile for free as I've had the phone for less than a year.
Go with T-mobile, even if you didn't buy it from them. As long as you are first owner, your fine. I was able to get my phone replaced for free and i DONT have insurance.

Hi Guys,
Ive dropped my almost new Nexus 5 and the screen is shot. Pissed about it, my iPhone 4 took drops 10 times worse over the last 4 years and didnt have anything.
Now Im looking for a new screen. Screen replacement service in my hometown charges 200EUR which is 2/3 of phone price.
Ive stumbled upon this on eBay. Seems to be from a good store (Express Homeshop) but wanted your input first. Any ideas?

Alternatives are more than welcome!
Cheers!
Just make sure you get official parts.

Hi rootSU,
Thanks, I would prefer it also, any idea where to get them from? Ive got a friend who repairs iphone screens and told him about the repaircenter in my town and he said they most likely use the same parts we can order of ebay. Theres no way of telling if their claim that 'we use original OEM parts' is real or not.
Do you know a good webshop with official parts?
Cheers

Factory repair will give you official parts. Otherwise, check the outlets on ebay for price. Find the price that is most popular and then find the dealer around that price that is most trusted.
That's the thing, I bought it from the Google Play Store and they dont have physical locations, so I have no idea where to get it fixed?

I have had my s8+ for 2 weeks now and i just found out recently that sometimes, it shows some white lines ( i think there were some pink and green ones aswell ) on the top part of the screen. They used to show up while watching movies/Youtube videos and last night i saw them on the home screen and in the settings ( this time they were black ). I googled the problem and there was no one complaining about it. I just hope its a software problem as i do not have waranty nor money to get another phone.
What could be the problem? Thank you in advance.

Contact Samsung. As long as it's not user inflicted, those kind of defects are factory covered.

You should contact Samsung customer support.
Definitely if you are in the UK they just use your manufacture date plus 3 months as proof of warranty.

Well...i am not from UK. There are no stores in here that will just take my phone and fix it. All i wanted to know is if anyone had this problem and if its a software problem or the display itself...
sounds like a display issue, usually bad connection or faulty display driver (hardware driver), only fix is new screen

Your device very likely has a hardware problem. This won't get better, and may deteriorate. With that said, it's also very likely that Samsung will repair it for you at no cost. But you'll likely be without a phone for two to four weeks. I'd suggest contacting Samsung, then making arrangements to get by while your phone is gone. Pick up a used device somewhere?
Even if the phone was from the UK or somewhere else (not stolen) you could get this fixed by calling Samsung. If you continue to say you can't contact Samsung all I can surmise from that is that you obtained the phone illegally. EU Warranty is 2 years you have definitely got warranty.
