ATT Tilt internet - General Topics

Is there any way to disable the Att internet (MediaNet) but still be able to send and receive MMS messages?
I did search for this but I didn't find anything.

Internet
Strictly speaking, internet is required to send and receive mms messages. With most phones the profile that is used to connect to the internet is used to send and receive pictures and video. Now if you are wanting to disable internet on the phone except to send mms then that may be possible

NoData
Would NoData work for what you are wanting?

SMS Service option

I am running the octaivoi v6.2 and under Settings>Connections TAB> SMS Service
I go into the sms service, and I try to change the settings to send over GPRS. But when i do, it doesnt send my texts. When I change it back to send over GSM, it sends the texts.
I have att wireless... does anyone know any way that I can send my sms messages over gprs instead of sms?
what would be the advantage of using gprs over gsm?

Click to collapse
You only have to pay for an internet package, not an internet package and a text package
Does anyone know where I could find any information on this feature?

Use MMS without internet

I have the pantech pn-820, and the manual says I can send an MMS like a text message if I don't have an internet connection setup. Note: I did not setup one on my phone.
The Internet Connection is set to Automatic, so I can't turn it off! I just want to use basic pix/txt messaging and sync my outlook calendar appointments. No wireless connection needed for this.
I think it is ridiculous that I would get charged kb usage for something I never got charged for before.
How do I:
Disable the MMS Client (which uses internet to send MMS messages)
Enable regular MMS messaging
Disable Internet Connection, or alter the registry so I can choose if it is on or off.
Any or all of these would be awesome. I have been looking through the registry quite extensively, but am not sure which values I need to change/add/delete to make this work.
Thanks!

AIM on HTC P4351

Hi. I have an unlocked HTC P4351 (a.k.a. T-Mobile Wing), I want to get an IM program on it, to use my SMS gateway to log in to AIM network and to send/receive messages. The T-Mo's version of the same device, is the Wing, has this OZ Messenger on it, you don't need no data plan for it to work (Log In and to Send/Receive Instant Messages.) Since my device is unlocked (not T-Mobile Branded), I had to manually set up the connection for MMS. So I probably need to set up some other connection for this also, to start maybe some another "GPRS" other than the one that starts when I send/receive MMS.
All I want, is to get a normal AIM app on my phone, and for it to use my SMS connection to sign on and to send/receive Instant Messages.
Thank You For You Help!

[Q] MMS over wifi?

Is there any chance to get MMS (send/receive) over Wifi, i have an unlocked htc 7 pro. interopunlock OS 7.10.8107 ???
because i have no data plan i Bosnia and Hercegovina i use my wifi connection and i have wifi all over the places where i'am around... i know that mms is a service of gsm so can it work over wifi instead over gsm.
Well.. I can think of a few options.. neither is great but it would work.
First would be to download IM+ from the market and add SMS numbers to a AOL Instant Messenger account (see the internet for how to add numbers for your country. I know for when I use the SMS, you add a contact with +phonenumber with your country code to lead off.. so check the internet to see if it is supported in your country or not).
2nd, you may be able to download the Skype beta and send SMS via Skype... although I don't know how SMS would work on Skype for Windows Phone 7... :/
...actually.. after downloading IM+.. wow this app is awesome. Yeah... it should have some kind of solution to your problem, check it out. XD It supports some Instant Messangers that are just for SMS.. so check it out and see if you find something that works.
skype supports sms, but i think mms not. and uses skype credit i thought something like MMs over GSM+wifi. so that all sends and receives via the GSM like normally, but only the data for the picture over wifi that i have... but i think that not possible, yesterday i looked on other forums and sites, but no luck that this gonna happen

Getting texts

Ok - I'm trying to think of a creative way to get text messages if you didn't have access to cell service, but had access to internet. Something like having all SMS forwarded to Google Voice BUT that wouldn't require it to be done at an application level or using t-mobile WiFi calling to access SMS. Any ideas?
