ATT Fuze backlight issue - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hi All,
I have a (strange?) problem with the screen backlight - dont know if this is a feature or a bug? I have the "Auto adjust backlight" checked on (by default). While I connect to my pc (via usb) during autosynch, the screen dims after a certain time - which is good, but the screen backlight does not brighten up when I start using the phone (the phone still being connected to pc via usb). The screen brightens up if I click the power button off and then on but this disconnects the autosynch and reconnect.
Am I missing something?
P.S, I have installed "Autoconfig" and "Diamond Tweak" both, but have not configured anything from there.
Thanks,
pkshr

Any suggestions ....

In the mean time why don't you just turn off auto backlight ?

Hi abc12345,
I am noticing this issue not only during syncing but even when using the phone too. If I use the phone for few minutes the backlight automatically dims even I am still using the phone.
Sorry if this seems a stupid question but why does the power button turn off and on brightens the screen if it has to dim after a while? Is this an expected behaviour? Is unchecking "Auto backlight" the only issue for this?

Is this problem only with my fuze ??

My backlight wont go off since last night.

It wastes lots of battery. I think i might have damaged the light sensor but i've tried turning it off but it doesnt change anything.
Anybody know?
Even if the light sensor is damaged, your backlight will go off after your device idles for some. Check your settings
thanks for the prompt reply.
ive checked all my power managment settings and they're all on the lowest time settings..
i dont understand why it would do this.
Are you using any softwares that manages the backlight timeout? Such as Tweak2k2, etc
it seems to be working fine now after i restarted my phone.
i wasnt using any software.
thanks for your help.

my phone did this before. but yea just a simple reset fixed it
Maybe you installed maniac's AutoKeyLock, I had the same behavior a couple of time...
It seems like after some time, it overrides by mistake the power mgt values.
Hi!
I have the same problem. Wm6 The back light turn to the dim mode and that"s all. It does switch off the screen. If I connect to the AC power It does the same. When I lock the keypad, every thing seems to be all right. It switches the screen off. Any idea. I restarted the phone, but nothing changed, i didn't install any Autokeylock program.
Hi, this problem exist occasionally after you install some apps (i.e. AutoKeylock). You can fix it easy - enter registry and open key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Power" then modify value in key "Display".
Thanks, it is working.

Screen does not go off....

not sure why but as soon as the timer for the screen kicks in it turns right back on.....anyone have suggestions?
Unlocked ATT 750 with ATT leaked WM6.
It is something to do with the brightness setting. Put it 40% or more.
Hello
I've got a Treo 750v with the latest WM6 installed and I'm getting the same problem too. I've got it set so that after 2 minutes, it turns off, but instead of doing so, the password screen comes on and stays lit till I put it to standby manually!
The other problem is, I've got mine to auto connect and check for messages via GPRS, and whenever it does this, the screen turns on and never turns off again.
I've had to turn this feature off else when I wake up, in the morning or even during the day when I'm at work, I find that this kills the battery!
Any ideas?
Thanks
D.C
I ocasionally have the same problem, I do a soft-reset when it happens.
I couldn't reproduce the problem, but when it happens again I'll investigate the brightness setting...
It really is the brightness-setting...
Isn't that redicioulus?

How to turn Backlight OFF

Hello,
i am using my touch cruise (or better o2 xda orbit 2) for navigating on my bike.
I use it in my pocket, only listening. After some research and testing i found a way to use tomtom with locked screen.
I now want to turn the backlight off because of power consumption. But when locked the backlight is only turned to minimum, not off. How can i turn off the backlight completely ?
I tried several tools which turns the whole display off. This works fine with all applications except tomtom, i dont know why but as soon as the display is switched off tomtom stops.
So i want to turn at least the backlight completely off, but how can i do that?

With my older pocketpc's and pocketphone's the backlight could be turned down with pressing the power button for a longer period.
I told it was about 3 sec holding te powerbutton and the backlight stops.
But with the HTC TC i din't tried it yet..and my device is now at the repair centre..so you have to try it.
But when the backlight is down..you don't see a think when ther is enough sun light..so why do you want that..buy a usb car powerplug and you can charge it and use it with full light on!
Does not work (3sec pwr button)
I dont need to see anything on the screen. it will be in my pocket while navigating so theres no need for backlight.
And a car charger on the motorbike - that would need a socket to plug it in.

Thanks, i already tried it before. As soon as the screen gets black TomTom stops.
It says it turns the backlight off but as far as i can see it disables the whole screen. And as soon as this happens the f***ing TomTom stops the Navigation.
If i press the pwr button for 3 sec the device asks me if i want to turn it off.

Hi remoh, I'm having the same problem. Have you found a solution for disabling the backlight by now?
How did you manage to lock the screen and keep TomTom navigating?
Let me get this straight... do you want to turn the screen off (i.e. lock it) or just turn off the backlight (in which case the screen remains active)?
For the second case there should be some options for it in TomTom, but it's primarily for in-car use. (never used TomTom before, it's crap for my country... i'm just basing on iGO)

Being able to turning the screen off would be great but just being able to turn off the backlight would be fine also. Tomtom doesn't have an option for this afaik.
Now, thats the second reason i won't use TomTom... if the first wasn't enough
Not even power saving options?

HTC Diamond - backlight not off after inactivity - just fading out a little

Ok so I have a little problem with my HTC Diamond. In options I set to turn-off the backlight after 10s of inactivity which is standard. The problem is that after those 10s I can see that the screen backlight is fading out but it doesn't fade out completly - if you look from an angle it might appear that it's off but if you look at the front of the phone or simply in the dark you can see that the backlight is still on only set to something near 10 or 5%. As you know the battery just sucks in this device and I don't want the backlight to drain it so any ideas or tips on this matter? Of course I can put the phone to sleep mode but I'd just prefer to make the backlight turning off so I can take a look at the screen to for example check the time without having to press any buttons...
Same problem here
After those 10s the screen is not turning off completly, just fading to 5, 10 %. The screen with all the info, the home page let us say, is still visible and drains the battery. I also could just press the power button to turn is completly off, but I would also prefer it to do this manually after ten second.
Did you find a solution to this problem yet?
Help Battery Drain
Same thing here, and my Backlight is stuck to 100% i think,
anyone found a solution to this? any hints?
Guys, i assume youve set the "turn off device if not used for xxx mins" correctly whilst in battery and external power correctly?
If you have, what roms are you using as you give us no information to help any further
Hello,
I had the same problem with ROM 2.03.421.2, date 12/24/08.Back then I had SPB mobile shell installed and a very few applications and I couldn't find the problem. I made a hard reset so now, with nothing installed, the device also enters standby. You should take care because it is possible that the device is not entering standby either and it is making calls. When I had this problem my friends were complaining that I kept calling them and not talking. It is strange as I'm sure I put the device to sleep with the power button. But still, somehow, it was making calls...

screen stop turning off

I noticed that after using the phone for a few hours, the screen will stay on unless I specifically hit the power button to turn it off. The screen off time is set to 15 seconds.
If I reboot it, it will go back to normal, i.e. turning the screen off by itself.
Any one experience this? Some app bug? How to fix it?
Hmmm. Is "Smart Stay" on or off? Do you have Dev Options enabled? If so, is always on while charging option on? All I can think atm.

Have you disbled any services or packages with Package Disabler Pro?
I don't have any of these mentioned issue, and I am still trying to pin point which app is the trouble maker.
Call Samsung support, and they said if I have bluetooth device as "trusted" home/location, they have seen such issue, and want me to turn off these "home" indicator Bluetooth connection.
I effectively turned off the Bluetooth wireless, and this afternoon, after a close to 2 hours meeting and was irritated to find out the screen has been on all the time.
I am going to find a good startup manager and disable APP one by one to see which is the bad boy.
thanks
