The Cruise doesnt have an OK button. I find it frustrating to use the DPAD for scrolling, but then have to reach to the top to tap the OK button in the upper right hand window of the window. Is it possible to remap a hardware button to this task?
I tried AE Button, but it doesnt seem like AE button behaves properly for me on the Cruise.
Does the red phone button not act like an ok button on your phone?
AE Button does work. I use it on my Cruise and have mapped the IE button to become the OK button. One thing I have noticed is that depending on which ROM you are using, sometimes you have to select the "OK/Close" action and other times you have to choose the "Close active application" action.
I Hope this helps
The red phone button does exaclty that.
Why do you map this action also on another button?!

No, the red button will only minimise the application but it doesn't act like an OK button. In any screen or dialog where you need to press OK, pressing the red button will only take you back to the Today screen and will not press OK. By mapping a hardware button to have the OK feature, the button searches for the OK button on the screen and presses it.

I have Dinarsoft's Handyswitcher for task management. I use the following key mappings to supplement for lack of an OK/Windows Button(s):
Long Press Phone start - HandySwitcher Menu
Messaging Button - Launch QuickMenu
Long Press End button - Suspend
IE button - Close app (using Handyswitcher)
Update: Use AE Button
Thanks for all the suggestions. After reading your thoughts I re-attacked the problem. It turns out AE Button will work. You can set the IE key to be your OK button. Actually AE works great!
The conflict was between AE and S2u2. I did not realize S2U2 has a conflict with AE.
Issue resolved.
I really love the Cruise. I have owned the 3300, 3600, TYTN II and I like the 3300 and cruise the best. Why? The are feature packed and very light. If you dont need a keyboard (and trust me, its overrated to have a keyboard) the cruise is great.

If you still want to use S2U2, you can use a setup like I posted above. No conflicts using S2U2 and I have the functions that I need without the use of a button mapper application.
Maybe I'm not understanding your problem here, but just map it using the Buttons icon in Settings. There's a choice in there for <Ok>/<Close>. I have the ok button mapped and it works great.

same thing for me, except the O2 Orbit 2 variant actually shows a "Windows" logo button on the left and the "OK" button on the right. i have to map them as such because I'm using a custom ROM.

Let me rephrase that, I mapped the ok "action" to a hardware button. It can be mapped to any button, in my case I just used the top left one (for Voice).
The best for me was to map the left messaging button to win-start, double to messaging, and long press to rotate fo tomtom, the right one to ok, doubleklick to opera, long press to vibratemode.. ... i had the same on my old tytn... works perfekt with aeb-plus.

Guys, this is what I have done with my button mappings and so far it seems to be working reasonably well. Well, reasonably enough that I am happy with it/can live with it.
Now I am very nit-picky and am coming from a heavily customized WisBar world. But in my quest to be stylus-free (and loving the WOW-factor of TF3D), I am able to live with the device by making the changes listed below.
-+-+-+-+-+
1. AEBPLUS - Volume Buttons
o Remapped volume buttons to provide Up/Down scrolling
o HOLD volume up or down - normal volume control
I did this because the TP was rejecting calls on its own whilst in my holster -- you know, the "press any volume button to mute the ringer" feature.
Note that if you do this, don't forget to look at the "Restore Volume Slider" option in AEBPlus (that guy thought of everything). I have all of mine unticked. Also take a look at: Options|Other Options|Control Volume Directly.
Screenshot: http://auxiliary.razer7.com/aevolume.png
··········
2. AEBPLUS - Phone Key ("Green Phone Button" in AEBP)
o Press once = Phone Button
o Press twice = Task List (Swipe left shows Programs)
o Press three times = Action List <-Note the Cut/Copy/Paste here!
Screenshots:
Task List: http://auxiliary.razer7.com/tasklist.png
Task List - Swipe Left: http://auxiliary.razer7.com/programs.png
Action List: http://auxiliary.razer7.com/actionlist.png
ABOUT THE TASK LIST: The Task List (and Programs list) is all touchable. AEBPlus provides its own task list as well but it isn't as nice as the one that I am using nor is it fingerable. The one that I am using is a freeware program called "MortButtons".
Download MortButtons here:
http://www.sto-helit.de/index.php?module=download&action=list&category=13
NOTE: Don't forget to also download the "ClickLED" skin on the same page. This skin closely matches the TF3D colour scheme.
During my testing, I've noted that MortButton uses about 250K (if you decide to leave it resident (recommended!)) and zero CPU since it is being called by AEBPlus.
ABOUT THE ACTION LIST: The "Action List" (as pictured above) is part of AEBPlus and can be custom-catered to your liking. I like to keep it simple and simply have cut, copy and paste in there, as well as toggle Wi-Fi (which works on the TP).
··········
3. AEBPLUS - End Call Button ("Red Phone Button" in AEBP)
o Press once = End Call
o Press twice = Last Task (ALT-Tab)
o Press thrice = Call DinarSoft TapText*
* "TapText" is a little utility that allows you to create a menu with clippings in it. I used it for email addy's and more. Check it out. I find it very useful and worth the ten bucks to register.
Screenshot of TapText in action: http://auxiliary.razer7.com/taptext.png

4. About the Home and OK Buttons...
Now these two buttons *can* be mapped using AEBPlus, however, they can't be *re-mapped*.
In other words, if you map something to these buttons, they will also perform their inherent functions (i.e. the Home button will always go home first; the OK button will always send an OK message to the system, etc.)
Personally, I have left these two alone.

CLOSING COMMENTS:
Now there is MUCH MORE you can do with the above two apps in the configuration I've described. Customize it to your delight.
I hope that this post helps some of you guys out. I need to give back to this community!
This community R0X.
Thanks for sharing. Will try this out as soon as possible.
You're very welcome!
I was playing around with this setup earlier today and so far, it has been working really well.
Take care.
I have AEBPlus and it is working great. My home key is mapped to be the start menu on a single press and torch on a long press, the back button closes active applications on a single press. My soft keys are mapped to lock the device and contacts. Works perfectly for me.
I'd already re-mapped the volume buttons as you did, though for a different reason. I use MS Readern often, and find the circular direction button on the TP pretty useless - I try to press arrow down and get the centre keypress instead more often than not. The volume buttons are a perfect substitute.
On tip though - when mapping the volume buttons it works best if you map double click and triple click to none. Doing otherwise gives confusing results.
Excellent post Minus-1, AEBPlus is a program I'd been looking for since getting my touch pro and the Mortbuttons program is proving to be a very useful program itself. one q though on the button options list in AEBPlus which ones cover the touch pros 'home' button and '<-' button

Absolutely. I have only single click (directional up or down) and press-and-hold (volume control).
I often double-click the volume button to move up two elements, etc.
Excellent tip. Something definitely worth noting!
P.S. One quick note about the smartwheel: I used to HATE it but now I LOVE it. U have to get used to it and memorize the length of your stroke, etc. Once you do, tho, honestly, doing things become a breeze (especially whilst reading RSS).

Hiya, Yan2K!
I'm glad that you're enjoing AEBPlus and MortButtons.
In AEBP, the '<-' is mapped as the "OK Button" (which is precisely what that button means; some people like to call it the "back button" but it actually send a WM_OK message to the system).
As for the HOME button, you will have to map it...
In AEBPlus, go to the FILE|ADD BUTTON menu entry and press your HOME button. The TP will go back to the home screen but don't worry -- AEB is still running. Just click on your Quick Menu in the home screen (upper right corner of your task bar) and switch back to the AEB task.
Now remember: if you map these two buttons, they will NOT unmap their original functions... I generally leave these two buttons alone m'self.
Cheers!
thanks for the quick reply. I've created the 'home' button as you instructed, ended up with 'button #00ED' but cant get it to do anything either on 1-2-3 or long button press nor can i get the 'ok/<-' button to do anything either. prob doing something stupid can you help? ideally i want to be able to run a program on a long 'home' key press
Well mine is working, but not when TF3D is the active application. I remaped the (Long press) Home butoon to Second Today, and when I press it (long) it opens Second Today. Again, only when the TF3D is *not* the active program.
Hope that makes sence...

Mapped the volume buttons as you did. Just what I was looking for. Also set 'back' to proper 'ok/close'.
Cheers.
I think, the original functions are hardcoded somewhere(dll or something else). We need to find the file and modify it to disable these functionalities.
I remapped the "green" button the following way:
1 press) Phone application
2 presses) Alt+Tab
However, now when there is an incoming call I can't use it to answer. Which is quite logical.
Is there a way around this?

played around with it and found purely by chance that just like you said you cant use the home button or '<-/ok' button to do anything when you've actually got the TF3D home screen showing. hopefully someone will come up with a workaround for this as although i can make use of the '<-/ok' button it pretty much makes the 'home' button redundant for anything else but its original purpose

Oh man, the OK button is one of the buttons I miss the most.
Specially while texting and such.
I hope I can remap some of the full keypad buttons as well.
I noticed that it sometimes doesnt' start up well, but oh well.
I re-maped the volume down to Ok/Close and Volume up to Start Menu
Then changed the volume settings to long hold, Which half the time when i press the buttons the volume comes up. haha.
hello!
I want to remap some buttons and I've tried with AE button Plus without success. Can you help me?
What I have is the call button configured for a long press to cyberon voice dial.
The disconnect button long press is for vibrate / ring.
what I want is to turn home and back buttons long press to wifi and bluetooth on/off and.
is it possible?
can I do this without AE button +? like a registry change? would be even better... or another program suggestion is also a good help!
Please help!

Is it able to remap the PTT button? That would be AWESOME.
dumb question, but where can I download AEB Plus?
I can't find a direct link or site to get the program!
Thanks...
http://ae.inc.ru or ask directly the author AE(here on XDA-Alexander Eltsyn).
So, is there any way to change the mapping on my keyboard? Like the hot button keys really get in my way, and I'd rather have a TAB key than a CAPS key, and stuff. So is this possible yet?
Hi all. I am ready to take the plunge and get the ATT Fuze once it is out here in the US. I don't want to flash it yet with custom ROMs. Can anybody tell yet (maybe by looking at the ATT ROM structure) whether it would be possible to remap the PTT button? (so we can remap it to MS Voicecommand)

Search, I already posted this.
Well, either a mod removed my post on how I remapped my PTT button on the Fuze or the search function ****ing blows. I can't find it using any of the key words and searching only my posts, so good luck figuring out what to edit in the registry, but I assure you it can be done.
I'm almost certain I've read AE Button Plus can remap it. I use it on the 8525 for MS voice command as well.

CONFIRMED, this is how to keep that annoying PTT message from coming up on American Touch Pro's (Fuze maybe? whatever).
Keep in mind, you can't individually map this button with this method, that may come later.
Step 1: Registry editor, remove HKLM/Services/PTT
Step 2: Create a key in HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Shell/Keys called "40C2"
Step 3: Create a string within that key, titled Name with the value being "Button 6" or whatever
Step 4: Soft reset.
From this point on you can remove 40C2, but your PTT button will simply perform with a press what your send button performs with a hold (which can be remapped easily... Settings/Buttons/Button1(Hold)).

Any ideas?

Well, I'll admit to being one of those who has said that, but now that I have a Fuze I figure it's time to put up or shut up.
Yes, you can use AE Button Plus to remap the PTT button!
Here's what I did:
1) Delete the value, not the key, of HKLM\Services\PTT\Dll (was "PTTService.dll", will now be "") and soft reset.
2) Run AE Button Plus, add the PTT button as a new key, and set its action.
Mine now brings up the camera with a single press. I haven't tried the double, triple, and long settings yet, so I can't guarantee that there aren't problems.

Hey I would like to do the same exact thing you did. I'm having a little trouble. I have successfully deleted the "PTTService.dll" value under HKLM\Services\PTT\Dll.
I found AEbutton plus but which version are you running? the free unsupported one or the newest one? Ive tried to run the trial version of the new one. When I try to add button the next sceen ask what type of hardware key I would like to add. shift key, win key, ctrl key or alt key.
Your help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm using the current trial version (will register it later today).
I just left those boxes untouched and pressed the PTT button. The code #00ED showed up, and I accepted that. That code then appears in the list of buttons, and a press-and-hold on it in the list brings up the mapping options.

Great! I haven't tried triple and long yet, but I do have single and double assigned with no problems so far.
Great tips with AEBplus. I got the PTT button remapped by deleting that one registry key, and then installing AEBplus, adding a new button, and then mapping actions to it.
Anyone figured out how to remap the Home key? it's redundant with the red hang-up key in most contexts, so I'm thinking of remapping it to start menu or voice command.
Also, how to activate voice command with a key? I can't find that anywhere from within AEBplus.

Is anyone elses camera now randomly comming on? lol I picked it up and all of a suden the camera came on. I def did not push the button. Its happend a few times now.
I've used this program for years but I'm having trouble getting it to work on my FUZE.
I searched the forums and found a few threads where people recommend it and said it worked great on their phone. I also read that the home and ok button's can't be re-mapped (well... they can... but it's bot practical).
So, I'm trying to re-map the send and hang up keys. I assumed the keys are the green and red phone keys listed within AE Button Plus. I edited those to do what I wanted and soft reset the device. Problem is, neither of the buttons do anything I told AE Button Plus to do. A long hold of the green phone button starts Voice Command. A long hold of the red phone button opens the "Long Press Red Key" application. I'm using NATF's 2.2 ROM (if that makes a difference).
I thought that maybe the FUZE has it's own button codes so I tried adding buttons. But clicking on the red or green phone button while the add a button window is popped up doesn't work.
How do those of you with your FUZE have AE Button Plus working with the phone hardware buttons? What am I doing wrong?
I have mapped the Green button with AEBPlus and it is working fine. For this button you don't need to use Add button function and I think, the Red button can be mapped same way.

Try again to add the buttons, but this time hold the call and end buttons longer. It will only let u remap the long press. However it will also remap the PTT button. This is a problem for me. I have found a way to kinda cheat this though. I created the PTT_Long.lnk file in the windows directory. (You can find the directions somewhere here in the Rafael forums) Now my short press = camera and I can program the long press etc. And I can use AEBPlus to remap everything else.. Good luck..Hopefully AEBPlus will update their software to work with the Rafael...

It's still not working for me
If I press the green button too long it opens up a new windows with things like "Turn Airplane Mode on" and a few others being shown.
If I press the red button too long it starts Voice Command. If I press it any shorter then that it doesn't register as a new code within AE Button Plus.
I'm not sure what you did to get it working on your end... but I can't re-map the long press' of those buttons on my phone.
Maybe I need to disable the default long press commands via the registry?

There is a new version of AEBPlus out, however it still doesn't get along with the Fuze very well. I Finally uninstalled it and am happy with short/long press only on the PTT. I also run GScroll and use it to double touch the capacitive screen to launch stuff...much better...
home soft keys for PI8
please explain where in Advanced config do I go to change a setting for the 2 soft keys for the home screen. I can't find anything. I found it in Diamond tweaks under 14.5 but it does not give me an option to select PI8.
The long keypress for Green button can be solved by standart button settings as a "Button1(Hold)". I have mapped for a longpress the phone interface that way(1click I use as Alt+Tab). I don't know about red button, because I use red button to instantly drop the call and this feature is missing in my version of AEBPlus and I don't need to upgrade.

I want to use the footprints tool but unfortunaley I have an issue to take the photo.
If I want to take a "normal" photo I have to touch the display (this little icon that appears on the display). But I don't have this option, if I want to take a photo with the footprint tools.
How do I take photos there? Can I change the settings somewhere so that I can take a photo by pressing a key?
Thank you for your help!
Bye
Caessa
Hi, i have the same problem like above. I have installed footprint to my touch2. Unfortunately, touch2 does not has its own shutter button. It depends on onscreen shutter button. footprint does not have onscreen shutter button. Can any suggest on how to take photograph. can the shutter button assigned to any keys like - long press call button? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Where did you download Footprints?
answer
to take a photo with footprint you have to press return.....
on the mega I've found two ways:
1st one, free, is VolDpad (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=552947)
2nd one,not free, AE Button Plus (http://ae.inc.ru/aebplus.php), remap Volume up or down Long press to return....
I've found that VolDpad is far more stable than ABEP, but less configurable...
Have fun.

Hi Uppy. The footprints can be downloaded from here. forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4652165&postcount=1
Thanks Zogzerg, but voldpad is to remap volume keys to Dpad. I want to remap the shutter key. The remapping can be to either a physical button or on screen at the bottom taskbar. I just want a shutter key to take picture... can be anywhere. (footprint lacks onscreen shutter key)
Hello, there are a few footprints cab's floting around here on XDA. Most are for devices with enter button......http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4174400 this link is to a solution for Rhodium; a QVGA device without such a button. This may work for you.....have not tried myself or checked the thread
How do i get it on my M2D Tab ?
I installed the Navipanel and Footprints, but its only on my start menu .. Under a Multimedia tab.. help?
Hi Frank Caarls. Thanks for the reply. However there is no workaround for this problem in that thread. I have checked many threads but nothing seems fruitful so far. Hi deepakmk, u may need to enable it through homesettings.xml.
How do i do that?
Sorry kinda noob at this ><

read my post !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The shutter key for footprint is return !!!!!!!!
Zogzerg, the RETURN key DOES NOT work. It exits the application and nothing happens.
Can u tell exactly what changes u did? Enlighten me..
what programme was assigned to the return key? (start>settings>personal>Buttons)
not OK, return.
short example with AE button plus,
for volume up key (hard), assign
1 click:volume up
Long click:RETURN key (soft) AND NOT "OK" button or it will close the app
and for Volume down key (hard), assign
1 click:volume down
Long click:taskmanager
that's my setting, it work well with footprint......(to take a picture i longpress volume up)
btw, aebp is a little buggy with the (hard) back button (<--), so don't try to remap it.
with voldpad, first install it, then run footprint, add (+), then to take the picture :
double click volume down WITH hold
that's it: click and cliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick......

I also installed footprints on my mega. Also, ae button plus. I cannot find the return option you talk about as an action to long press volume up. Got any more hints about what we should do? I tried other actions available there as well. None of them seemed to trigger a new footprint photo

you have to choose long press = ENTER then save and exit
when you launch footprints press and hold volume up when you release photo will be taken
can you tell me when you installed footprints does your home weather still update??

I tried with enter too and still doesn't work. When I release after long press volume up, it just shows the volume program. As for my home weather, it still updates, but just once. After that, it crashes TouchFlo and I'm just stuck with the "tap here to launch touchflo" message. I think I'm going to uninstall this because of this home weather inconvenience and my not being able to trigger new footprints

Well. I have exactly the same problem.
As far as I know, there's no way to get M2D Footprints Tab to work even enabling it in HTCHomeSettings.xml file.
Any solution???
