He has the right of it
This is how i did it, I had gone from RC19 > Modified RC30 and noticed a bunch of problems. After downgrading to RC29 then back to Modified RC30 the phone runs a lot better now. I was getting a lot of Network errors. But haven't had that many since. Could be the network was having problems, and is now fixed but i can't really say.

After a hard reset in hopes of restoring the MDA to "factory settings" I lost a couple programs.

Does anybody here know on how to contact the mfr to get the original software from them? I would really like to reinstall it and restore it to the original settings.
The phone was supplied from T-Mobile (Netherlands) and then unlocked and now operating on the US Cingular GSM/GPRS network.
Any assitance would be greatly appriciated.

There are several extended ROM downloads available at the xda-developers site. Do a search. You can run the setup files to get the programs. However, you might want to go ahead and update your ROM while you are at it.
well i have the 1.13 t-mobile firmware on it... after i flashed that one the apps were lost. but i just found out theres a slightly newer 1.13 out noiw, so ill try that one.
Thanks for pointing towards the extended stuff, i was under the impression those things were standard on every mda/xda/jam etc. ill check those out im kinda new to this stuff
I feel kinda stupid... turned out those apps are just in the appsuite on the cd :x somehow they didnt install after i updated the 'firmware'. everything's okay now
I installed JF1.5 adp, and I have an issue, when I make a call to someone from my contact list, in the call log it "logs" it as "unknown"....

Scroll about a quarter way down till you see the radio link
Also use a pc the radio download link is not g1 friendly
okay, so the issue with contacts still exists, I call then it logs it as unknown... should I try to reset everything to default? alt+w? and as far as battery... I just lost 2% in last 2-3 mins, so seems no difference...
ok
Alt w will work also with batery did you flash any non default themes to your phone my phone does that too but I have apps2sd and aero black flashed to mine. Also if you have a theme app loaded they cause lots of problems with 1.5. Only thing that could cause battery drain is something running in the background try doewnloading close everthing from the market it has a feature to tell you what's running in the background there is a free one in the market.
another thing
You could also reflash jf 1.5. To the phone see if this fixxes no need to go back to rc29 to root/hack or flash radio since you've sone that.

same thing =/
hmm
I've run out of ideas maybe someone else has one usually there would be a few people here jumping in to help. Only other thing I have is to do the root/hack again update the radio first then jf 1.5.
yeah I will most likely do that, before I get too deep into customizing the phone, probobly tomorrow I'll do it. I appriciate all your help!
I rooted my G1 and went from rc-29 to Jf 1.43 Holiday[http://jf.andblogs.net/2009/02/11/jfv143/] and everything works but i want to move on to hero or 2.0 or maybe motoblur or something. any rom i try to load the same way i got to "holiday" sends my phone into a never ending loop or sits @ the g1 screen so i just go back to the jf rom and wipe and reload it....can anyone help me? im not able to find any info on how to downgrade from a jf or move to a different rom.

There is a great guide over at http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com, but for the upgrade from jf is easy just follow the instruction's over here at http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/How_to_upgrade_from_JesusFreke_1.5. Hope this helps.
sweet that worked!! running cyangn 4.1.9999 or sumthing now and its great!! the cyanogen wiki was perfect!
figured id share...
i had a rooted .6 stock that i updated to .7 with the attached update file here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=791953
then for the heck of it, just to see what would happen, i flashed the htc no menu unlock by flipz(attached) and voila! it worked. no more pesky menu unlock...now that i think about it, the device pocket unlocked on me a few times yesterday. hopefully no more.
now im gonna try messing with the vanilla lock, maybe thosell work now...
Glad it worked, just remember that you are flashing outdated files from the .5 or .6 release. So you can potentially break something or break some optimizations. Unless you are doing the edits to the latest files this could turn out to cause and issue later on.
Ok thats all, just wanted you and so many others to realize what you are actually doing.

everything seems to to be working properly.
I just ran it on nfinite's latest Odex Update2 .7 and it gave me some funky lockscreen, and menu-menu still unlocks. :-(
Need something that works on .7...
I created this thread to help those who have made a rookie mistake like me. I have the latest Amon Recovery 2.3 and was not aware that the system wipe setting would do just what it says. I used this wipe a few times before the problems started. I flash ROMS as fast as they come out. So here is what happened, I was using MIUI latest ROM at the time 1.2.19 ... and I am on cricKet so I was having problems with a few things on there and I thought the ROM was to blame, so I kept trying to get it to work, (which I finally did)
but....
what I did was a system wipe which I don't recommend unless you plan to put your phone back to stock. I had no idea what I did and I lost my 3G, my phone was now locked and it reverted back to stock for most of my settings.
After trying to figure out what I did wrong, I got to the point where I almost re-did my whole phone back to stock and started from scratch, which is not very fun especially when it has been over a year since I rooted and unlocked my phone. Who took my stickies!! .. lol
SO HERE'S THE FIX....
I posted this link to make things easier, as you can see I didn't write this part but I wanted to make things easier for anyone who has made the same mistake.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=704161
A BIG THANKS GOES OUT TO killac93 for re-posting this as I was having a hard time finding my stickies.. lol
This will fix your EVO or other cricKet or Metro phones who have lost their settings or for anyone trying to get their settings right so your phone will work.
UPDATE:
It has come to my attention .. it was the MIUI ROM 1.2.19 .. it wasn't my fault after all ... the ROM wiped all my data .. almost .. it put my phone back to the stock lock code and reverted my custom settings ... BEWARE!!! Don't use 1.2.19 it has bugs
Actually MIUI just doesn't like kernals with HAVS .. so any version will do this.
***3/21/2011 UPDATE ***
The reason it reboots is b/c the ROM doesn't like HAVS .. therefore you need to change wifi settings to never sleep .. that should fix the problem
