I have been looking through the forums for other phones like this one(w/Hardware Keyboard) and I found some people having problems with the keyboards lagging. They found a registry edit that fixes it but performing the edit in reverse on the pro actually does the trick! I was having problems with the keys not typing as quickly as I did but now it works great! I am still having trouble with the hardware keyboard trying to type in the background while I'm using other programs though which is causing skipping and enormous lag! Does anyone know how to solve that problem?
Here is the regedit I did !
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd
I changed the InitialDelay key to 50 from 250 and left the repeat rate at 30 instead of changing it as they did for the problem they were having! Hope this helps solve some issues!

Alright this is what happeneds, everything works great, im using duttys 2k v3 Dual touch ( called somthing along those lines) and what is happening alot is that the keyboard is not keeping up with what i am typing..
I am also using Palm Threaded SMS messaging.
Alot of times the spacebar doesnt work when i want it to i have to repress it.. and it doesnt type as fast as i am inputing it. Is there anything i can do?
Yes this same thing happens for me too. It gets very annoying.
is there anything to do to fix it or is it just how it is?
Tilt keyboard fix
I am newer than new but I've been reading a lot and it could be that you need to install "Tilt keyboard fix.cab" which can be found at:
http://www.cinetsystems.com/xda/index.php?path=Kaiser+Cab+Collections/
and i'm here thinking i'm the only one with this problem. and the tilt keyboard fix does not fix this problem.
Try the disable xt9 cab thats on the post with the touchdual v2 and v3 thread.
Thank goodness I'm not the only one with this problem. I was starting to think that my spacebar was going bad and was starting to panic!
Please post if anyone has a fix for this because it is driving me CRAZY.
And I don't know if anyone else is experiences this but sometime on my Tilt with Dutty's v2 my backspace key will act like the del key without having Fn lit up. What is even more bizarre is that it will randomly fix itself and randomly occur again.
Install this
Install this .cab
All should be well.
the disabling xT9 worked perfectly =) thanks!!!
Hi,
If I use the hardware keyboard (ie the one you slide out) in TomTom 7 it adds a weird character at the end of each letter, so for example if I write:
"New York"¨
It will appear on screen as:
"Nåeåwå Yåoåråkå"
Anyone have that problem and know how I can solve it?
I get it it tomtom 6 too, some peeps on here have had issues with it representing the same charater no matter what button is pressed in several different programs
yep, I get the same in TT7.
I get the same problem with TT7.... would be keen know if anyone has a fix.
yeah, I have that as well... very strange indeed...
Maybe someone comes with an answer...ya never know...
I use Tommy 7 btw...
+1 same here, pain in the ass so i just use the onscreen
I had this problem at one point but I don't now. I've been trying to think how i got rid of it.
I definatly installed the following patch http://www.tomtom.com/support/index.php?Language=1&FID=9852 other than that I played with the keyboard settings in tomtom and WM 6. Not much to go on, I hope it helps.
This seems to be a problem with the key assignment of the hardware keyboard, it behaves strange also in other applications. I solved it using the reg hack from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425646
Unfortunately, problems with auto-screen rotation appeared on my device.
i have the same problem, i found that KforTouchPro (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425646&page=4) can be use to fix the problem
I have a Fuze with the stock HTC rom on it. recently my fuze started doing something strange when I slide the keyboard out and change the screen orientation to landscape. when a text entry field is on the screen, in SMS sending, internet explorer, word. etc...anyplace I enter text, the text itself isn't readable. its all bunched up in one spot on the screen. when I change the screen orientation back to vertical it becomes readable. if i type to say, send an SMS i can't read it until i send it or reorientate the screen. I recently installed the following programs, not sure if any of them are causing the problem - Advanced Config 3.3, Sushi's Diamond TF3D Config, IM+ by shape services. I also have the fuze keyboard fix istalled. I already uninstalled both IM+ and the keyboard fix but neither of those seemed to be the cause (I reistalled them after checking to see if they were the problem by restarting the fuze-the problem still remained). Does anyone have this problem? Does anyone have any idea what might be causing the problem or how to fix it???
Thanks for any help
I've got a Touch Pro with the same issue
Hope someone has a solution, otherwise that little keyboard becomes quite useless
I had the same problem. Turning off Cleartype in landscape mode using advanced config finally fixed it for me!
I tried the cleartype solution. that did it. Must be some incompatibility with Adv. Config 3.3 and the new FUZE..hopefully this bug will be fixed in a subsequent version of Adv. config!!! Thanks for the help!

First download Diamond Tweak:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=409540&highlight=Diamond+Tweak
Once you have that downloaded on your phone, open it up and go to:
17. Diary > 17.7 ClearType in landscape mode > Enabled (advised)
This will allow you to type in landscape mode with cleartype enabled in most of the apps you will use, from internet to sms (text messages). However, this still does not work when trying to add a contact while in landscape mode. In order to add a contact using your keyboard, you will need to disable cleartype.
Cleartype is a know bug in WinMo 6.1
Hi,
I had the same problem you are having, and after reading around these forums, the fault seems to have nothing to do with Diamond Tweak or Advance Config or your IM program. The problem is WinMo itself. Cleartype in Landscape is screwed up.
Many people have the same symptoms:
- disappearing text in menus
- bunched up text
- invisible text in input boxes
The WinMo bug is not caused by the config tools, but perhaps exacerbated by them, because many people turn on Cleartype using these tools. To make things confusing, Cleartype can be globally activated in the registry, tweaked using config tools, switched in the WinMo UI settings, or switched inside individual applications. All these switches may or may not agree with each other, or over-ride each other - so it's hard to say when Cleartype is in effect. But I suppose you can tell, because your screen is messed up!
From what I can tell after an hour of reading around, there is no solution to the problem. The work-around is to turn OFF Cleartype in as many places as possible, particularly for landscape, since portrait is bug-free. The following global setting in the registry is a great place to start. It fixed my problems:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \System\GDI \ClearTypeSettings]
"OffOnRotation"=dword :1
Some out there have called "turning off Cleartype in landscape" a fix. It isn't. A fix would be to make cleartype work. For me, I'm satisfied with the work-around.
Good luck.

had the same problem, went crazy and hard reset, added back tweaks carefully and same problem showed up. There is no problem with the stock at&t rom, it's just annoying to have to live in that "box". I went to the reg edit, it was set at dword :1, so I turned off cleartype in landscape mode (diamond tweak) and portrait mode start\settings\system\screen\ and it is working fine now. Thank you for your input, it lead me to the solution.
the registry hack solved my annoying problem too.
have searched this and other forums to find a solution,
thanks for sharing your experience
Thank you - this worked perfectly for me too.
Hm, old thread but I guess it's worth updating.
For anyone who is still encountering the landscape-cleartype bug, please note that it has been fixed in many of the newer ROMs due to driver updates. I can only vouch for the Da_G ROM (since that's the one I'm using), but ClearType does work correctly in landscape mode.
So if you haven't already, be sure to test-drive a new ROM.
Hi all,
I am new to this forum, so please bear with me if I have posted in the wrong section.
I am with T Mobile UK and I have the MDA Vario IV.
Recently, I have had a strange problem when using my slide out keyboard. When I use the onscreen keyboard, I can see the text as I type. However, when I use the slide out keyboard, I can see the cursor moving as I type, but I can't see the text being typed. This happens when composing an SMS, typing into Google's search box, entering log in details for Facebook, etc etc.
As I am Deaf, I obviously use SMS and emails a lot, so this is a problem, as I find the slide out keyboard MUCH easier to use than the onscreen one.
Hope you can help.
Wayne.
How fast do you begin typing after you slide out the keyboard? I know sometimes when I begin typing too quickly after sliding it out that the cursor will move while I'm typing but no letters will be displayed...but then they all pop up at once.
Have you used a tweaking tool or registry editor to turn on ClearType in Landscape?
There is a known issue with the font not displaying.

Hi mate...

You are correct David....that WAS the problem!
Thanks - all working fine now
keyboard lag solved - possible software conflict
I had tried all the above fixes and they helped, but did not fully alleviate the lag. I was getting annoyed and wishing my hermes was still alive.
Then I remembered that the only real difference in my keyboard setups between the fuze and the 8525 was that I was using the iphone like full qwerty sip instead of the keyboard sip. i selected the finger unfriendly keyboard sip, and voila the slide ouy now has instantaneous response. no lag at all.
It seems to be that the full qwerty sip option forces a t9 function even when you have all that turned off.
Happy again except for the laggy shift between portrait and land scape.
now to find an iphone sip clone that doesnt affect the slideout. By the way this is with the recent stock att rom.
further issues with keyboard
The lagging keyboard issue continues to nag me. it seems to be related to the fuze having a difficuly time with switching to landscape mode. for instance in opera mini when i switched to landscape to type this there is no lag. if I am using messaging for text or email, when I switch to landscape, the lag occurs until I change the sip. it doesnt matter which sip i change to or from, just that it gets changed. i suspect that it has something to do with resetting the keyboard drivers. anyone else noting this problem. Anyone know of a fix? I have t9x turned off, cleartype turned off.
my question is this. I just got a new omnia 2 i920 and there are several problems with this model that it would take a long time to post them all but a few I would love to see fixed on my phone through reg edit or hacked skins.
first problem I have is the qwerty keyboard. no matter what I do my messaging speed on this phone is very slow just to type out a few words takes too long. I also own a captivate and the keyboard on it is way better and more accurate. I can't type very fast at all on my omnia 2 whatsoever I find myself using the stylus just to send a message. on the captivate no issues and I can type very fast on. is there a way to change the skin on it? I'm seeing the letters closely grouped together unlike the captivate layout is much better and faster. i see 2 issues that is the culprit in this the touch responsiveness and the grouped up letters which I changed to the available layouts on this phone to Samsung and swype. I've changed the responsiveness in the settings and in reg edit from 40 to 0 it seem to help a little. can a new skin layout fix this issue?
second problem is the increased ring. as I get a phone call it takes like 5 seconds for this phone to reach the highest level volume. is there a way to turn this off?
any help on this will be very appreciated.
