Do the "AC resuming from suspend time" and "Battery resuming from suspend time" tweaks from Schaps advanced configuration tool.
Default for both is 1 second, set them to 60 seconds...

thanks for the suggestion, i'll try that, thanks

SuspendToUnattendedMode: what does it do? Any clues?

This is from the pm.dll (powermanager) of 2003se (also applicable for wm5?)
The dword value must be set in
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power
"SuspendToUnattendedMode"=dword:00000001
What is Unattended Mode? Does it prevent Alarms going off?
Is it a deep sleep mode?
Anybody with a clue?
I also found in my registry (dunno where it comes from after so much messing about) a strange value:
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\Timeouts
"BattStandbyPeriod"=dword:00000004
However I cannot find this in any of my rom files. Must be a leftover from
a test with HP power management I guess.
ps: alarms work so much better if
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\Timeouts
"ACResumingSuspendTimeout"=dword:0000001E (30 secs)
"BattResumingSuspendTimeout"=dword:0000001E (30 secs)
or even 60 secs.
Cheers
Unattended: This is a confusing state in which the screen, the backlight, and the audio are off. I won't go into too many details, other than to say thatthis is a PocketPC-only state that is used by applications which need to do things without alerting... of the other states.

Thanks for the info vijay
I can't believe it!!!!
At last!!!
this little "SuspendToUnattendedMode" value is what I've been searching for all over the place for the last couple weeks! This one little edit solves a ton of problems with the buggy WM2003 and WM5 issues, (bluetooth, wifi, missing SDcard, pda freezing on 'off/standby' etc, etc). It's not perfect... it burns the battery like crazy, but at least it allows the pda to function somewhat normal without constant soft resets.
Thanks for sharing this. My device is finally working sufficiently.

Advice on Activesync Peak schedule setting - Comm Manager sets to as it arrives

Apologies if this is not the right forum to ask this. I'm using a TyTN II, and using the WM 6.1 roms from here.
I had tried many of the roms, and the same thing will happen.
I normally set Peak timing under Activesync- Menu -schedule:
Peak times: As it arrives
Off-peak times: Manually
Sometimes, I want to stop Microsoft Direct Push during Peak times, so I use Comm Manager to switch it off. When I set it on again with Comm Manager, Activesync- Menu -schedule will appear as follows:
Peak times: As it arrives
Off-peak times: As it arrives
I tried using other Apps like SBSH Phoneweaver to do it too, the result is the same.
Am I doing something wrong here?
If nothing can be done to this, is there a registry key that I can use to make a shortcut so that instead of using Comm Manager to power on, I use that registry key?
Thanks.
I think I found the key:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\ActiveSync\
KeepAlive (Dword)
Set to 1 = Set as "As it Arrives" for Peak times
Set to 0 = Set as "Manually" for Peak Times
This key doesn't affect Off-peak times
Hope this information will be useful to the community.

backlight goes OFF

Tytn 2
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
hello
When i am have a phonecall the backlight goes off after ca 30 sec. IT DRIVERS ME CRAZY. I dont want that, i want it still on so i can chech kalender, other numbers, even make that choise 12345 that you have to do in some companychangees.
-is there a fix?
- som program that can handle this?
have you tried to adjust the "Turn off backlight if device is not used for" in settings?
don't tipple post the same question I removed the 2 other posts
as well, you could just give the phone screen a little flick in the dead space every minute to keep it on, if you don't wanna extend the default backlight of settings.
use shaps advanced config or i think kaiser tweak has the option to turn off fast sleep while in a call.
If you use S2U2, you can set it to prevent this, check the Tips link in my sig for the settings.

No email in standby...

Hey all,
Recently i've been having some problems with my emails coming through to my handset. I have the settings set to send/receive every 5 minutes.. but for some reason if my screen is turned off (phone on standby) no email comes through but when i turn my screen back on the emails come.
Has anyone else has this problem? I've never had this problem before it started out of no where...
Which software are you using as your email handler?
The original software that came with the phone.. I havn't installed anything on the phone its at its original state...

are you using wifi or data connections? If its wifi do you have wifi enabled during standby?
i am using data...like i said if my screen is turned on theres no problems at all but its just when the screen is off in stand by mode no emails will come through..
This is a huuuuge issue which stems from the dawn of WM6. To be honest, it works sporadically for me. A few hours of no email, then a whole group arrives at a time. Sometimes it wont check by itself all day. Other times it will go 1-2 days without missing a beat. This makes it really hard to determine if what I have been doing fixes it.
Here are links to threads I have dug up:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=420513
^This is not a good fix imo, as it forces your data connection to be awake 24/7, killing your battery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=437199&page=2
^ I am using the outlook email scheduler. Not sure if its working, or placebo. It still doesnt stick to every 30 mins, sometimes an hour late heh. At least you can have day/night settings and weekend settings. Maybe not a perfect fix, but increases email checking options.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=332362
^ Many Kaiser users had/have same problem, no solution found.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=445434
^Same problem, no fix in the Blackstone forum.
Thanks everyone for the help.
There has to be some kind of fix out there somewhere.. its unreliable
could try out the seven beta app
If I might make a suggestion...
Maybe you should edit the thread title to "No email in standby" as "Email..." doesn't really tell the story, more people will be likely to find it and post a solution
Problem solved with my Touch Pro
I also had this problem but I found the settings to change this. But you do need schaps advanced config 3 (and a regeditor) to make it happen. Now i always receive my email, it checks every 10 minutes, even in standby mode, with my own data connection.
With a registry editor go to:
HKLM - Comm - ConnMgr - Providers - [GUID] - Connections - [Connection Name] - Always On
and change this value from 0 to 1
(You can also change this setting with Schaps' Advanced Config under menu (right softkey) - More Settings - Connections.
Here you can select "Always On" for the type of data-connection that you use to receive your email)
The second thing is using advanced config and change the setting under power management:
- AC resuming from suspend timeout
- Battery resuming from suspend timeout
I have changed both to 60 seconds.
Now my touch pro is notifying me of new email, even in standby mode.
Good luck
^ by forcing the eternal data connection, are you not killing the battery? I think the phone should be able to connect, query, download emails, disconnect at set intervals while in standby. I think it is supposed to, but for some reason it doesn't do it reliably.
The way I have done it is to use SKSchema to watch for a data connection being connected and turn on the screen when this event happens. This wakes th ephone up and is able to download email. Then I use advance config to close inactive data connection after 10 seconds. As the phone is awake the data disconnects fine. As long as your phones screen is set not to power off quickly, mine is a minute it should be fine.
In the last day I got fed up with TF3D again and turned it off, email seems to check every 30 minutes. I'll let it go for a few days to make sure its not placebo effect.
Anybody here having this problem while manila disabled? Perhaps there is some obscure power saving setting running in the background of manila
Well i have no idea how to fix this problem.. i have played with my phone to try figure it out but nothing.
I will probably have to take rvjacobs advice and see if that works.
It looks like quite a few people are having this same problem.
Its weird.. If my phone is on standby no email comes through..but if its on standby and an SMS comes through, the screen doesnt wake but the email also comes through..
not sure whats happening there.
Mine does it with TF3D disabled also. Thats why I have to use SKSchema to turn the screen on when it detects an internet connection. This way, mail comes through fine and it also auto disconnects the data.
I can now confirm that the issue is still there, regardless of TF3D. Damn, I've tried everything, maybe this is a dead end... Maybe wm 6.5 will see a solution
Maybe it helps you to look for/change the following key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\Timeouts]
"ACResumingSuspendTimeout"=dword:00000001
"BattResumingSuspendTimeout"=dword:00000001
If you've got these values in the registry, try to cange them to
"dword:0000001e"
It's the time in seconds the device keeps running (without turning on the display) when it's automaticly woke up from the suspend mode (i.e. to look for mails). And if the value is "1", the time might be to short for picking up your emails.
With the new value you set the time up to 30 seconds.
The key exists since WM2003 and most of roms had a higher value in the past. But in the last time more and more roms come with a value of 1. I think its because the manufacturers want to get a good standby time for the devices...
I hope it works for you and you won't have to wait for WM6.5
Thanks for that deroland! I did manage to find them in the reg but it just says "Value Data 1".. doesnt say anything like "dword:00000001"?
I am new to this whole thing so it may be a stupid mistake im making..

Then your value is like "dword:00000001". This is a hexdecimal dword key.
So your device has one second to look for new mails.
Try to change it to "1e" and I hope it will help you.

The only stupid thing is that there is no open support by the manufacturers of the devices and microsoft for windows mobile. They only want to make their money ignoring the problem we have by the stuff they sell.

This is a setting which can be changed in advanced config, under power. I have mine set to 90 seconds, to no avail. I think this is what is causing it to work sporadically, as opposed to not at all.

"Messages" and "MessagesCS" keeps taking over phone

I've had my HTC Inspire for two months after switching from a Blackberry for several years prior. So far the phone is great, but I am having a problem with "Messages" and "MessagesCS" running wild and taking over the phone.
I have had Watchdog Lite installed since almost day one and am consistently getting alerted at least once per day (usually 3-4 times) that one of the two programs are using over 50% of my cpu (50% is where I set my threshold limit to alert me).
I uninstalled Watchdog as an experiment, and it was still happening and required me to reboot my phone to get it to go away.
I am new to Android and have bone stock phone. I have installed a few apps but nothing weird.
Please help me with this problem as it can be very frustrating during the day.
Thanks!
ive never seen that one....had sys idle ...but from what i understood that the percent is just the overall percent that that 1 app was using of the battery since last boot...dosent nessesarrly mean that its drainin that much battery thatts just whats usin it....but i may be wrong
I'm not talking about battery usage, I mean CPU.
My phone usually gets noticeably slower, sometimes to the point of where it won't do anything, and Watchdog Lite alerts me that either "Messages" or "MessagesCS" are over their 50% cpu threshold I have set for alerts.
Sometimes it just alerts me when the phone is idle and I have to go kill one of the two programs. Already happened 3 times today...
Please help.
Thanks!
Anybody got any ideas?
I had to "KILL" "Messages" and "MessagesCS" over 15 times yesterday because it was bogging down my phone.
Anybody have any ideas for this?
I am consistently killing "MessagesCS" 20 times a day. It takes my phone over and slows it down to the point of it being useless.
I was able to blacklist "Messages" in Watchdog, and while that helped, there is no option to blacklist "MessagesCS" which forces me to manually kill it.
Please help if you guys have any ideas.

Idk if MessagesCS is there, but you can look in "manage applications" (under all) and try "clear data" of both. This seems to solve issues with applications sometimes.
