Is there anyway, that you can set the phone to disconnect after sending and receiving. I have the phone set to auto send/receive but it then won't disconnect after.
Thanks in advanced

I'm using latest AdvConfigTool and I cannot find an option to disable data connection after some time. There is such an option for WiFi, but not for GPRS connections.
Where is it?

Menu > More Settings > Connections. Check "Disconnect After" and set the timeout you want.
It's included in settings here...
You can simply "long press" the End key to disconnect the data connection (or other functions of your chosing):
Start> Settings> System> Long Press End Key> (your choice)

I have the Fuze version on at&t network. I've disabled 3G on AT&T's side so there is no way to connect through there.
Nevertheless, my phone ALWAYS tries to connect to the 3G network and i've disabled 3G connections using Nodata.cab, advancedconfig, diamondtweaks.
Still, the warning signs always come up:
"there is a problem connecting to the gprs service in your registered home network warning"
and this occurs, when I turn on the phone and many other times.
Is there a way to disable this warning? I know I cant connect, its because i disabled it!!!!
anyone? it comes up like 50x a day andi have to click OK to make it go away every single time
Have you unchecked the auto update setting for the weather program? Doing this worked for me.
did that, but didnt fix the problem. anything else that can be auto updating or trying to contact the 3G network?
Go to start -- settings -- connections -- connections --advanced -- select network.
Here I think you can change the defaults so that when ever a program tries to use internet it will either use wifi (if available) or nothing....
I have blocked the wireless internet access on all my lines and this is how I solved the problem of getting gprs disconnect warnings.
Hope this helps.
Is it possible to just disable this warning?
I'm switching between my personal and business SIM cards quite often, and I have the data connection disabled on the business card, while on personal I have a data plan, so I want to be always-online.
I disabled aGPS and now i dont get the warning as much. (remember, i disabled GPRS from att side).
when i start my phone, i get 1 warning (i used to get 3?)
maybe i'm on the right track...
But the point is not to disable features so they don't auto-connect to the Internet.
The point is for the OS to try to onnect automatically, but when it failes - it doesn't have to scream that to your face every 5 minutes.
I'm bumping this thread cause I did the same thing and want to know how to disable the message as well.
still no answer to this
Translating from Dutch, so bear with me:
Go to Personal > phone > network settings and put the band on GSM.
Note that you won't be able to use the 3G + H data connections then.
my father has the same problem on his Diamond, need help!
bump, i have the same problem as well
any solutions?
i have a solution.
download > install > and run NOGPRS.cab aka No Data. that will shut it up. i just had the same problem and i did that and now i havnt gotten any... i think i might get like one if i turn the phone on and off and what not, but other then that its fine.
Solution to GPRS warning message
Go to settings > Connections > Connections > advanced > select networks >
now check both options to 'my work network'
click ok
and reboot
the irritating message will go away.
until you again reinstall the sim into your phone and it will automatically reconfigure the settings.
Just repeat the above process.
solution
1. Tap Start.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Tap Phone.
4. Tap the Network Tab.
5. Tap the Network Selection Drop down.
6. Tap Manual.
7. Tap the desired network.
8. Tap Ok.
when i am at home i would like to use my wifi connection but it appears that it still tries to use edge. how do i configure my connections so that it uses wifi if connected?
thanks
Hey,
have you properly set up ur wifi connection on ur device including any password protection and security (WEP/WPA etc).
Also and this might seem daft, but is ur wifi connection on router properly working or have you set up any access restrictions on router?
its not a question on whether the wifi connection actually works but edge overriding it.
but... yes i did all of the necessary steps to add my device (wep password, mac address added etc...)
if i turn the phone off the wifi works just fine.
thanks for the reply.
Hy,
you have to set the networks (Internet and Private Network) to "My Work Network".
Does this not work you have to make a rom update.
Greatz
mccoffein
You will find it at Settings -> Connections -> Connections -> Avanced -> Select Networks
that just makes everything not work
Which rom version do you have? Which device do you have? Which Provider Label do you have?
its all in my sig
I find that if I want to switch from cellular data to WiFi, I have to hit the Data button in the Comm Manager, then hit the WiFi button. Otherwise, it doesn't seem to switch. If I just turn on WiFi, it connects, but never know which one is going to be used.
Go to:
Touch "Start > Settings > Connections > Connections > Advanced > Network Selection.
Set both settings to "Office Network"
If this does not work then install a small file called "No data" or "Modaco No data"

no data works by removing a registry key for your connection settings..... so it will also disable your picture messaging and/or email if you use it. (just a heads up)
Does anybody know if it's possible for the TD2 to download weather and stock quotes using the wifi only (if available), and not 3G connection (cause it's very expensive)?
Thanks
Its set up to automatically use WiFi when available. WiFi will always override 3G..
But you can't totally disable 3G, right?
You can, by using the Switch in the Comm Manager => Data Connection
Or you can go into All settings => Personal => Buttons and configure the End Button to disable Data Connection..
I know that, but the device turns this feature back on automatically if I try to send an e-mail or receive.
Go to All Settings>Connections>Advanced Network
In the drop down menu go to disable. That is all. Should be off for good till you turn it on/
heloooo~!!!1
i confirm that weather works with wify faster than 3G. Any application will lauch faster tahn 3G in wiffy.
Any who... i have T-mobile.....US...no 3G..just Edge but it works....actually i have the Touch pro2 and i can even stream video from my own home using Orb. Edge works perfect but wiify is way better than any band u are into.
Have a nice day guys.

HTC support said to go to Connections (in Connections tab) --> Advanced tab --> select networks --> create an empty profile and use it there
what about using NODATA.CAB???
If you're talking about Modaco's nodata.cab it didn't work for me....

That was the method I used to prevent costly dial-up on my previous 2G phone, it works fine.
what I did so that my Topaz dowsn't connect to 3G: settings - all settings - connections - advanced network - and there: Enable HSDPA only
and this pretty much did the trick. I saw that instead of a 3G icon on the screen, I'd see an icon with an "E".
I've got an Xda Orbit 2, which I like. I use the wifi connection a lot, but would like the phone to default to wifi if it is available, instead of trying to make a data connection. Is this possible?I've seen this somewhere before, so apologies if it's been covered before.
TIA
Desmac
Go to settings -> connections -> connections... then tap header advanced... then press button choose network...
for both options choose company network...
now the device is not using other connections anymore...
now you can turn on your wifi... it establishes a connection as soon as there is one reachable...
Thanks, sinoo, I'll give that a try

Hello everyone,
So a few weeks ago my phone just wouldn't start. It would get to the point where you see the samsung logo on the screen and it would turn back off. I took it to the store I bought it from and they fixed it by formatting the phone back to the factory default operating system.
Since then, the phone has worked fine but my internet just doesn't work.
Any ideas? I'd rather fix it myself than have to deal with those people again.
Thanks
Ensure correct wifi config & try static IP address
I assume by internet you mean wifi connectivity. Have you setup your connectivity properly? you can also try setting up a static IP adress (go t wireless in settings, pres and hold the wifi name and from the popup menu select "modify network config" and select the check box for "show advanced config" there you can select static). You can search on net about setting static IP address on android as well.

I don't mean wi-fi. I'm referring to my carriers internet service that's within my contact.
