i have a weird feeling im gonna get my head bit off for posting this....
i have this weird problem when i use alex's kaiser rom kitchen. my phone has no audio in the normal use of the phone, but if i turn speaker phone on during a call i can hear the persons voice perfectly clear. i also have normal audio when i use an official rom from htc.
my internet problem occurs when i try to use an amazing new web browser called skyfire http://www.skyfire.com/. the phone says its trying to connect to the network but then it says that it failed dialing (or something like that) with a long paragraph of text that never helps of course. i need this browser to work to use my phone for work. but the official htc rom is so amazingly slow.
finally when trying to extract a rom from an nbh file using kaiser rom kitchen, i flash my phones rom and upon reboot (after the bar reaches 100% and the phone turns off) my phone stops booting after the numbers and text appear at the bottom of my screen

Hi all,
Would appreciate help and comments on the following issues I have with my new XDA IIs. Have always been a Palm user but some issues that I face looks more than just software issues.
1. Reception - When my phone comes out from an area without phone reception, it does not get back connection until someone calls or sms. So no outgoing calls possible until someone calls me or sms me. It's a major pain in the neck.
2. Bluetooth - does not work with my Motorolla headset which worked brlilliantly with Nokia and Sony Ericsson. I can hear the other party but they hear everything else loud except my voice soft.
3. Hangs a lot or rather, sluggish at times
4. Does not cut off calls even when end call button on the handsfree set is pressed.
Can anyone help???
In my opinion why don't you Upgrade your ROM, there's lots of articles in this forum how to upgrade your handset.. "Search" Follow the instructions and I assume your device will work properly once for all
Get the latest v1.31 ROM update from O2 service center
As far as the hangs go, I would clean out every unnecessary thing that's in the \Windows\Startup folder. This is stuff that is automatically started up on a soft reset. Stuff like the "aPerSave..." file links for example should be moved somewhere else for safe keeping. I have a PDA2K, so I don't know if you have the same files as I do, but I imagine they are pretty siilar. The Pocket PC OS is limited to 32 running processes and out of the box the PDA2K is running close to that number already. I imagine the IIs is configured similarly. Starting more than 32 processes can cause others to shut down prematurely, causing hangs. So, getting rid of the unnecessary processes leaves more free for apps later on as you are using the device.
I had many unexplained hangups on my PDA2K until I cleaned out that Startup folder. Once I did that, the hangs vanished.
Answer to Question 4:
Unfortunately the button is not supposed to hang up. (I think it puts it in Mute mode?)

i wonder if there is a way to install this on a hermes,i know am well aware of the fact that it can brick the unit but what the heck is it possible?
did anyone notice this makes reference to an 8915 model?!? its been reported that att was going to have the 8900 (no camera) and 8925 (with front and back cam) .... but i wonder if they are stupid enough to market a 3rd model with only the back cam (well thats my guess anyway, would fit in their naming scheme)
you can,t brick your hermes because it wont let you install it

I'm sure you'll find elements of this rom appearing in a suitable ROM once the chefs have had a chance to work with it.

according to this article ... Kaiser do comes with 3 different model specs
http://crave.cnet.com/8301-1_105-9750809-1.html
Yes - 3 models
HTC Kaiser 100 - no camera
http://www.pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=807
HTC Kaiser 110 - 2.8M camera on rear
http://www.pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=808
HTC Kaiser 120 - both 2.8M camera on rear and 300K video calling camera on front
http://www.pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=733
looks and feels pretty much the same as the previous version. Some quick notes:
- Plain AT&T splash screen (removed the words "test only, not for sale") suggests we're getting close to the final version. The animated 3G splash has audio this time...
- looks like same software package as previous version (e.g. Ms PacMan trial, OZ IM etc. cingular pre_midlets is still there too (had assumed the pre_ meant pre-release).
- Device Name default (in About control panel) reports 8900 this time (could have sworn it was 8925 last time). Model no (in Device info control panel) is just "Hermes".
- The annoying backlight problem (where it goes dim every 10 seconds and reverts settings in the backlight control panel) seems to be gone!
More notes later, after some usage.
Nice...!
Thanks for Share...!
After 1 day of usage, some interesting issues:
* created program shortcuts from TaskMgr, and the program links (in Start Menu) lose their icons after soft reset. Also the Messenger program link has no icon, and the link itself is broken (application cannot be found)
* sound through headphones does not work! This is a major problem. Sound plays fine through speakers, but as soon as headphones are plugged in nothing from the headset. Of course this worked in the last version.
I am suspecting a bad interaction with the few apps I installed (HTC Home plugin and HTC Audio Manager from HTC ROM) so I'm rerunning the imaging process. If not, will step back to the previous release as no sound thru headphones is a no-op (would be a very boring flight home for me without music).
No Audio Thru Headphones
reinstalled the ROM and verified that sound does not come thru any headset. I had to reinstall an older ROM to get headphones working. Bummer as the new ROM looked more polished. I especially liked the way that backlight dimming worked.
Hope AT&T gets it right soon, else I'll have to try the HTC RTM ROM.

Don't fly with Jet2.com as they made me switch off my Wizard when I was listening to mp3s via headphones even though it was in flight mode. The annoying thing was that she continued to allow 2 kids , 3 rows apart,to play on their Nintendo DS which I know were linked up wirelessly.
if you guys don,t mind me asking
can you please post how you got your hands on a kaiser
and if you happen to have an extra you want to sell please pm me i would be very much nterested in trying one out
It should be released in 3 weeks. If you can't wait, try eBay. There's one for sale there now.
OMG Your right!
I've been using this ROM for a week now and hadn't tried the headset. How do you jack that up? I wonder how long it will be for a release rom to fix it because I like the new rom, but goota have the headset jack
Buy the way where do you get the HTC RTM ROm? Thanks
must be nice to mess with one of these units and be a prick and not share where you got it from
byetheway IF THE SHOE FITS WEAR IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow nice post! Im not sure why you are so upset. Your question was answered by Mlekas, we gotem on ebay, at least thats where I got mine. I think theres one on there now. Their pretty pricey though.
can someone try to rip OZ im client from this rom and put it in a cab so we can try to install a more WM6 friendly version of this software on an upgraded 8525
Hello all, I recently purchased an Intermec CN3 running Windows Mobile 5 on the Sprint CDMA network for development purposes and am having a couple of issues. It uses EV-DO Rev A I believe which allows for simultaneous voice/data, just for the record.
The first is the device randomly wakes up and turns on the screen. This morning, when I was in the car, I would push the power button to put the device in sleep mode.. every 15 seconds the screen would pop back on. I do not know if this is due to it trying to grab email, or what. However, now that I am at work, it has not come on in a few minutes. This is all random.
The only idea is that SEVEN, a push email service, is starting data on the device and it is waking up. I tried using a config tool to have data always on and this did not fix the issue. It will wake up even when there is no new email. I also have Battery Pack Pro installed.
My second issue is, when someone calls my phone and the phone is in sleep mode it takes about 5 rings for my phone to even register a call is coming in.. when my phone rings twice, the call goes to voicemail. Is there a way to tweak WM to make this faster?
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
This actually reminds me of the bugs present when we ported WM5 for the Blue Angel (same exact bugs)...
It might seem that you are right on your assumption of the data transfer. Try to disable/disconnect the EVDO connection (put it in Flight mode) and see if the device still wakes up by itself.
As far as the ring delay, you may want to read through this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=258109
This is a patch that was for both Himalaya and Blue Angel, but should in theory work for other WM5 devices as it seems to be modifications to the registry rather than anything else.
Just so you know, I do not believe that the CN3 is a HTC device, but since your problem was mildly general, you got lucky
Good luck...
Thanks for the reply.
It is certainly not an HTC device however this forum has some of the most knowledgeable people around and figured I'd give it a shot.
As you stated, this is a fairly generic question probably related to software and configuration.
You could try over in the Developers Forum that Intermec just launched. It's at http://community.intermec.com.
The signature shown is incorrect. That was the earlier ROM giving me problems...
Hi Everyone,
I have been writing on this same topic over and over again. Following is my problem:
I bought HTC Prophet/O2 Neo and it works well with Windows Mobile 5. I wanted to upgrade to Windows Mobile 6 and other higher versions. I can upgrade to WM 6 as well.
But following are the problems I face with WM6 and higher versions:
1) When I send a short message (SMS) to someone my phone works normally but if someone calls me the phone rings at their end but does not ring at my end. I switch off the phone (put it on standby) and then it works okay.
2) IF the phone loses the signal anywhere it just keeps on hunting for the signal. In the meantime it shows the green light blinking indicating it does have a signal. Now if in the meantime any one calls me up the phone again rings at their end but I do not get any incoming calls. I do not get any missed call alerts either.
I have reverted back to Jester's ROM in WM5.0 it is working fine again with the following problems:
1) The voice quality is not so great and calls regularly get dropped in areas where signal is not too strong
2) The contacts do not have options such as "File As"
3) When you want to dial and you put in the first few numbers for e.g. for dialling SAM you put in 726 it will display all entries related to 726. Though SAM is a part of these entries it should be the first entry as it is someone I call more often.
4) When you are playing music and put the phone on standby the music stops!
I request you to advise me on how should I upgrade to 6.0 or further in the best possible way or help me resolve the problems in WM5 with appropriate apps
Also one thing I wonder is what IPL/SPL/GSM should be there ideally for WM6.
Also FYI my friend has the same phone upgraded to WM 6.5 and it works perfectly for him. I put my SIM card in his phone and it worked fine as well.
Please help.

Vinit Badani.

-this might have to do with correct settings did you check your phone settings or if not did you hard reset after flashing a ROM whether is WM 5 or 6?
2) IF the phone loses the signal anywhere it just keeps on hunting for the signal. In the meantime it shows the green light blinking indicating it does have a signal. Now if in the meantime any one calls me up the phone again rings at their end but I do not get any incoming calls. I do not get any missed call alerts either.
-this doesnt happen to me maybe there is really a network problem or better yet check your phone settings again there might have been an appropriate setting for this situation
I have reverted back to Jester's ROM in WM5.0 it is working fine again with the following problems:
1) The voice quality is not so great and calls regularly get dropped in areas where signal is not too strong -that happens really if signal is not so strong better find a spot where in there is an appropriate signal
2) The contacts do not have options such as "File As" -this is ROM dependent i think... some ROM cookers incorporate these settings in their ROMS
3) When you want to dial and you put in the first few numbers for e.g. for dialling SAM you put in 726 it will display all entries related to 726. Though SAM is a part of these entries it should be the first entry as it is someone I call more often. -you have to live with it i guess since your using WM 5
4) When you are playing music and put the phone on standby the music stops!check your media player settings there is a setting that says play music even on standby mode
I request you to advise me on how should I upgrade to 6.0 or further in the best possible way or help me resolve the problems in WM5 with appropriate apps
Also one thing I wonder is what IPL/SPL/GSM should be there ideally for WM6.nope IPL doesnt matter SPL should be HardSPLed if your G3 you should have 2.G3.4PDA or G4 2.G4.4PDA (read more on how you will know if your device is G3 or G4 on Prophet WIKI THIS IS IMPORTANT BEFORE FLASHING ANY ROM GSM its only for getting phone signals etc etc and sometimes this matter when your battery drains so fast
Also FYI my friend has the same phone upgraded to WM 6.5 and it works perfectly for him. I put my SIM card in his phone and it worked fine as well.
Please help.

I had been wanting to try out the actual android OS but not really wanting to buy a whole new phone (and plan because in America android phones are not on every network) and I found this site telling me how to get android on my phone
http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-install-google-android-on-a-windows-mobile-phone/
So I went for it
on the first boot the sound and mic did not work and every thing crashed and needed to be force quit repeatedly. so I booted back into windows
the next day I decided to give it another try and this time the sound worked but the mic was still not responsive. the internet seemed faster as well.
today the mic and the sound work the internet is smooth, but the "long press" of the home button does nothing, so I cannot tell if some thing is already open with out going into the terminal and killing the process, which works most of the time but a few things will not show up in the terminal as running and I do not know if that is because how I exited them shut them down or if they are just not showing up all the time.
So are these errors due to android not being set up for the fuze?
and does any one have any tips on fixing them?
also this site has alot of good info
http://www.androidonhtc.com/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=577736
They have a few builds that work pretty well on the raphael. I've tried it on my Fuze and if i rember right calling worked okay but couldn't send messages. Haven't tried the latest build yet though.
