I have to say, when i got the 6700, i thought that phone was amazing. Then came out the 6800, and that was even better. Now having the TP, I just cant seem to put it down. this is stupid but, does anyone have a clue to what might be comming out next.. well in 2 years?

no one will be using phones anymore because we'll all be talking to holographic images out of our watches. Phones will be too old-school by then j/k
i have a feeling we'll be looking at dual touch panel phones in a few years with haptic feedback, if that's what you're wondering.

moved to general discussion felt it was more appropriate here

whats next
will they be water proof to 100m? i think they couldd have put more memory in the tp, but other then that.. the phone is sex!

[LAUGH]Iphone 4 fanboy

Just bored so I decided to write about my coworker and his love for the iphone.
My 65 year old coworker told me he waited in line from 4:30am till 2:00pm, called in sick for work, just to get the iPhone 4, talk about dedication. So he brings it to work, brags to everyone about his new toy, even at random people.
Today, at work we had a 7 year old patient, showed him my nexus one with live wallpaper running in the background and the iphone 4 and asked him which phone was better, "this phone" he pointed at the Nexus. My coworker over heard our conversation and saw the kid pointing at my phone, and confronted the little boy.
Coworker: Wait a minute, did you say his phone is better?
Boy: *Shy smile*
Coworker: Did you see my phone?
Boy: Yeah.
Coworker: What made you say his phone is better?
Boy: I don't know it just is.
Coworker: Come on! you cant even tell me what makes his phone better, and you're telling me this?
Boy: *Kept quiet*
Coworker: So you're not my friend anymore then?
Boy: *Kept quiet*
Boy: *Looked at me and said, WOW!*
Wow... Just thought wow... lol.
Thought I'd share. It cracked me up!!!!!

WOW is right haha thats guys crazy. Well all iphone fanboys are
I think individuals in general are fans of whatever phone they are using. This could have gone the other way around considering you showed off your phone to a 7 yr old who more than likely could have cared less about it in the first place.

Valid point you got there... But using live wall paper would clearly influence the kid's choice, so already aware of the outcome, I did this solely foe kicks and giggles, he just took it way too personal. Which now makes it different, coz im not sure how you woulda handled it but I woulda just laughed about it and moved on with my life. Catch my drift?

[Q] Which cellphone u think can be used for a long time?

I know the cellphone’s technology change quickly, but I’m really tired to change cellphone.I have used the Simens,Sharp,Samsung before, but all of them have many problem. So do u have any idea of which brand’s cellphone can use as long as it can?
If you're going to get an Android device and have a bit of patience, I'd say wait until Q4 2010.
I know it's a huge pain (heck, I've been playing the waiting game for years now) but it is obvious that a big technological leap is on the way: higher resolution, dual-core processors, better display technologies and Android 3.0 (which means no longer being dependent on OEMs). It's the first time in years that I can look at cell phone specs and say "Hey... this actually looks relatively futureproof".
Nokia candybar phones last a long time, and my htc blueangel has been used daily since 2004, and still works fine

more complex devices= more power and more bugs.
I know MANY people in proffesional environements that are still using old Nokia 61xx/62xx phones. These monochrome display phones still do about 9 years on 1 charge and allow you to read "War and Peace" on the talk time.... oh and they don't crash either and never require rebooting!
edit:
linky to picture
HTC Leo!!!
Capable of running Android too
Moto phonese last forever. I have one that programs music in midi, they;re really hardy as well. If you just need to make calls, this is a good brand to get.
Thank u guys!I just hesitate with Nokia and HTC...btw,where u guys think is better to buy the cellphone?I mean cheaper and good quality..In store or online shop?

What? You mean you don't want a 10 year old phone? WHY???
I doubt you will beat an online price but that would depend very much on your country I guess?
i bought a iphone from an online marketplace whose name seemd to be Topons, and it is still used without any problem though it is cheap.lol... am I a lucky guy?
If it's the genuine device and not some knock-off then I don't see why a phone obtained from any source would be more reliable than any other (assuming the same software etc.).
Probably a blackberry.
The problem with the iphone is you cannot remove the battery.
I kind of feel this thread is a lost cause.
Phones (all tech for that matter) will keep being replaced. You cant buy future proof technology! A top end PC is good for what a year? two years?
A mobile phone a year if your lucky, half a year...?
A TV a few years before something better?
You cant buy a phone now, that will not be 'under-spec' in as little as two years time!
The question you should ask your self is do you really need a more 'powerful' phone, or could you live with what you have now for the next few years?
I own a HTC HD2, and I can honestly say I'll want a new, more 'powerful' phone in a few years to play higher quality video, better games ect.
But do you want that?
My dad is 'tech savi' but hes still using a Sony Ericsson K800i. Because it does everything he needs! (having said that he is getting a desire this year... lol)
As for the build quality, you'd be lucky to find any phone that wont be dead after a few years use! Unless your super careful...
Having said that, that K800i has had a hard life and still works perfectly and looks fine...
Its all about what you need from your device. Technology will just keep advancing.

Post = epic win
I still see people using moto razr's, even razr2's. If your not a phone geek and just want a decent reliable phone to make calls and text on, those seem to be the most popular.
I agree with the above post also, if you want something a little more 2010 and future proof, a Blackberry is a good choice too.
It's best to go for the phones that are the most advanced now, such as the nexus one, desire, iPhone 4 and such, cause they will get updates for a long time, and it will be some time before they become out-dated beyond use. For example, the Nexus One and the HTC Desire shall be able to use Android 3.0, Gingerbread, while the others won't.
And go for something like Android, cause with the ROMs and such that are out there, you can easily change its ROM and it will feel like you've bought a new mobile.

Goodbye my sweet DHD

Well after a few torrid months of appalling service, I have been allowed to get out of my contract with Vodafone 21 months early with no penalty (!)
They just couldn't provide a service for me that worked, so after multiple complaints and even the TIO, I was able to port out to a new provider, the only thing that is a problem is they wanted the DHD back, they tried to tell me they were being gracious and offered me it for $500, I declined.
So... I have also had to jump hardware camps and I now have a Samsung Galaxy S I9000
The reason to tell you this?
The way you do things on it is TOTALLY WEIRD compared to the DHD, so far if I even fart it goes into a boot loop
I know it will be a week or so before I get my head round it, but to all you 'users' that keep asking obvious questions and think the DHD/HTC method is hard...
Try the bloody SGS
I'll keep looking in as I loved my DHD with LeeDrOiD, more in the hope he decides to do a ROM for the SGS....
Out of the frying pan, into the fire.
Do you miss the screen real estate that you had before?
jumping ship from htc for better phone is like flying out of tibet for a higher mountain

Totally agree. Samsung makes good hardware. They just suck with software. Again, this is all just personal preference. I don't like Touchwiz (looks too iPhone-y and toyish) and I don't like that they take so long to roll out updates (or none, here in the US).

Captivate 2.2.1 Paragon
You should of just bought it, I payed $850NZD for mine about 4-5 weeks ago and I wouldn't trade it for any other phone. LeeDroid rom is sure awesome!

Taking some time to get used to it, but once you grasp the basics, plenty to play with ;-)
Cheers people for reading.
Phone companies must not work the same when buying contract phones I guess as it does here in the States...So question for anyone in the UK, even if you cancel your contract halfway through a 2 year agreement, do you still have to give back the phone?
Meh, I sold a Vibrant for one and the vibrant is the worst of the galaxy S line... just trade... craigslist it...

I think we might have one Samsung fan on the whole forum. I have a Samsung Epic 4G. Best hardware available (second only to the Atrix, now) and have 2.1 Eclair. Why can't the most capable single core line of phones get a f***ing upgrade??
F*** Samsung.
Enjoy your new phone dode , that ok you should hold back : )

[Q] Which phone to get? (I am sure you get this a lot.......)

At the moment I have an iphone 3GS but it is getting a bit old and beat up.
I have used the iphone since the first day it came out and about 18 months ago I moved onto the 3GS. I was expecting to get the 4.0 at first, but now I am not so sure.
I prefer to stay with AT&T and use my phone some for work. On the work side it is not much more than using Outlook and maybe reading Excel and PDF files.
I text a bit and would like a nice quality screen and processor to play games, etc. I am also thinking about getting an ipad 2, and want to be able to have a phone that I can tether and use with my ipad.
Suggestions?
You can wait for the next one in June/July, just a few months left
Edit: Welcome to XDA
Poke around the forums a bit and I'm sure you'll find a phone that fits you!!

lol, next what?
And yes, poking around is great, but at the same time is a bit overwhelming. But I guess choice is good.
I am also seriously considering a Windows phone, but I have not seen ANYONE other than the salesperson @ AT&T that has one. He loves it, but then again, he is a salesperson.
I like it for the Zune if nothing else. Worse case is I get a Zune player, but I love having my phone/music all in one.
Seems like a pretty good site.
After another visit to the AT&T store, I really can't see myself getting a Windows phone. The salesperson I spoke with went from a 3GS to a windows phone and while she says she still likes her new phone, the iphone was so much more user friendly.
She suggested I get an iphone 4 or a droid phone.
But having said all that, after playing around with them for a bit, I am liking the Axfinity from Motorola a whole lot. Between that and maybe an iphone 4.
Everyone keeps saying wait a few months for some new Android phones, but what new ones are coming that are much better than the Axfinity? And in a few months, will there be more talk of wait a few months for Xxxxxx phone?
Droid incredible.
I work for a Verizon partner and windows phones are great but I prefer motorolaa droids. The X or Thunderbolt. And moto bionic is coming soon also.

The Dinc is at end of life. My friend at my local store said he won't be recievng any more. But if I had to pick with what's out, either nexus s or the thunderbolt even though it has abysmal battery life. And you said at&t. Htc inspire is a beast of a phone. Better then the atrix IMHO.

iphone 5, you were talking about iphone, my guess is you'll be satisfied with the next
Who knows... just play with a couple at the store. If you like it, check the reviews. If you still like it, buy it. If the reviews lied and it sucks, eBay it, and try again. Repeat until you find one you like.
HTC Inspire 4g

is the HD3 out yet?

hey guys...
just wondering, is the HD3 out yet?
cuz I saw a store selling some cases for it in my local shopping mall and it looks pretty sweet...
and I don't remember it being released so just wanna ask
p.s. yes I know whats the HD7 and HD2 is and Im sure it wasnt any of those... looks like its got a bar of hardware buttons like the HD2, cept running WP7 (so 3 buttons)
cheers
Well I think the news related to HD3 were fake. I do not think its released as of yet!
thats strange... how'd they managed to get moulds for the cases if the phone aint even released yet?
I'll see if i can grab hold of some of those cases...

it is likely that a tipster within the company is where said 'cases' originated
HD3
If it look like hd2 with Windows Mobile 7 maybe its just a hd2 with a ported WP7? sorry if i had misread your post. But i'm pretty sure there is no hd3 (cause hd7 is suppose to be the predecessor already?) defective cases trying to pass but i dont see making sells there...
a picture tells a thousand words......
i'll see if i can take a pic in the upcoming few days or weeks
The HD3 is actually the HD7. HTC had intended to call the current HD7 the HD3 but was pressured by MS to call it the HD7 in reference to WP7. That's why you see all of the current WP7 phones having a "7" in there name or model number.
yess I know what the HD7 is and Ive heard all the rumors about and seen it in action personally...
but the main point I started the thread is that Im not believing what I saw the other day on the store shelf, selling HD3 cases placed right between the HD2 section and the HD7 section....
could be my mistake though, dont get your hopes high yet, and hopefully they are still there
