Manually removing applications from the Uninstall programs list in wm6.1 - General Topics

Hey there!
I wonder if there's anyway to manually remove an item in the list of installed application on WM6.1? I have a couple of annoying programs there that just won't go away. WM said that the uninstallation couldn't be fully performed in these cases, and asked if I wanted to remove the items from the list. But they are still there. I even made a search and removed all files related to those programs, and I also deleted all references to them in the registry. But they continue to appear on the list. Where the heck are they stored, I wonder? Is it text in a specific file? Suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks
Edit: Sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum, perhaps it should have been at Questions and answers instead...

Did you ever find an answer? Trying to remove Commontime with out resetting the phone. Darn thing locks the phone up when uninstalling.

uninstalling
Heres a solution I have found to get rid of useless programs (real player mainly) found it on the Microsoft social pages
"I have found the solution to the various posts listed on not being able to get rid of an uninstalled prog in the remove progs window. Using MemMaid 2.3 go jump to/databases/database usage, highlight SwMgmtMetadataStore and click browse, highlight offending entry and delete it. Then do and soft reset and you will find that the prog is no longer in the remove prog window. Hope this helps."

hope this works ,i have been search for the the last month to remove get scan life off program launch. i hate that i have to pay for this app, wish their were a free alternative ,wont go into this now, thank you will post my success or failure

Yes, I can confirm that it works!! Thank you VERY much for this post!! What you wrote is very helpful and seems the only way to solve this problem. I have tried searching all through the registry and removing all the keys I found and still - nothing!! It seems that in this, Windows Mobile is very different from its "big brother"
Now give me the retarted programmers who are writing programs, which can't be uninstalled !!! (boxing)
Just one small addition - the entries in the remove programs list disappeared immediately, no soft reset was needed.
THANK YOU ! ! !

Try going to hklm/software/apps and deleting the reg key for the app. I won't guarantee it will work, but that reg key records the install directory. Do a soft reset as well.

Thanks for the above tip, I have done the registry search trying to get rid of an app called point UI and a new theme which has been a stubord s%$& to remove, I got rid of the registry details and the folders and everything after I had done an uninstall (there were bits lefts) despite all this when I go to memaid and look at "installed apps" the folder including a list of empty folders for the theme (not the app itself) have not gone, I can't delete them and I can't find them in toal commander or file explorer, only in memaid and it is unable to shift them and when you click on "explore" it says the files are missing or deleted.
Problem is when I try to re-install everything from scratch it always says the previous version is still there and crashes the install.
I at a total loss on this, I've been waisting my time with it all day with no joy.
Is there anything else I can do to remove the empty folders ??

Many thanks to julioDave (post #3) - the tip was spot-on for solving my problem with a YouTube WVGA app "YouTube_Player_-_WVGA_-_800x480.rar" on my Vodafone TP2, which hadn't uninstalled properly and left an entry "MyLostBlog YouTube" in the Remove Programs list, no matter how many times I tried getting rid of it conventionally. MemMaid 2.3 (fully functioning trial software from DinarSoft), in Advanced Mode, does the job when following julioDave's instructions.

Removing that database entry can also be carried out using SKTools:
Category > Maintainance > Databases > Highlight "SwMgmtMetadataStore" > Action > View Content > highlight the offending entry > Action > Delete

Notification Error on Wakeup?

I tried installing chome nrg weather without realizing that chome was some other program that was required (and not on my 6.0 pro phone). Now whenever my phone wakes up from being locked I get a notification error that it cant find that program to run (I uninstalled it). I thought maybe it was S2u2 but it still does it even when I have no weather program selected.
I've been trying to look and see if there is a launch on wakeup folder hiding somewhere but I figured if there was it would have a shortcut to that file in it. Running a search looking for a shortcut turned up nothing. Same with looking in the registry. Where is the cause of this little annoyance hiding?
maybe you should try looking for mortscript????????
I dont have that installed. Is that something I need to fix the problem?
(yes im a windows mobile newb only had it for 3 months)
If you get this error. it means you have some program's execution scheduled in the system notification queue. Basically, it's a kind of system's "do do" list. It contains various actions to be executed at given circumstances - such as sounding the alarm clock at given time, piopping up a reminder, doing something on wakeup etc. It's much lower level than the startup folder and normally, it's not accessible to users. But thanks to some great devs around here we have freeware tools to manage it
Go and grab dotfred's task manager:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=280104
Fire it up, and choose "notifications" section (use arrow button in top right corner).
Look if you see any references to programs you recently removed there. If you do, simply delete these entries (the button with red minus sign in the bottom menu). Or if you're not sure what to remove, post a screenshot(s) of your queue and i'll try to help.
That worked great! and I now have a new software tool too. Thnx for the help!

WinMo6.1 - Notification Error on startup

When starting my WinMo6.1 device my start screen welcomes begins wiith a Notification Error which is......
Cannot Execute \windows\myphoneruntime.exe
I have actually removed Microsoft myphone beta as i believe it was resulting in conflicts with TF3D not loading, but my phone obviously believe's its still their.......
What I need to know is how or where should I look in the registry editor to remove the line entry which is causing my device to think it needs to run a program which has been un-installed?
Thanks in advance........
First thing to check is if there is a shortcut in the \windows\startup folder, and delete it if there is.
Failing that use a registry editor with a search feature, (I use resco), and search for and delete any references to it.
Thanks for the advice. I have downloaded and installed the Resco stuff (very cool software compared to what i was using) but I still couldnt find anything. I haven't exhausted all search options yet, but I didnt think it would take much finding to be honest. Will let you know if i get this fixed

Delete HTC links in windows start menu

Hi!
How could I delete HTC default links in windows start menu (footprints, music, etc...)
I've tried to delete them from (\windows\start menu\etc...), but when i reboot the phone they are still there !
Many thanks
no one has the same problem ?
thx
To be honest, they don't bother me in the slightest, but I was just able to delete the HTC messaging link, and it's still not reappeared after 2 resets.
I know that some files will be replaced if they're deleted, but these links don't appear to come under that heading, on my phone at least.
Maybe create a sub-folder in the programs folder and just try moving them to there. It may not recreate them unless they're actually deleted.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5046612&postcount=54
Like I said, I'm personally not bothered whether they're there or not, but I've just checked that registry entry, and it's set to 1 but I can delete the links and they don't come back.
Weird.
Edit: I take it back. The only that doesn't get recreated is the one I tried as a test - the messaging one. The other 4 (calendar, music, people & twitter) do come back. Never mind!

Semi-bricked Phone from Registry! Please help!

Hi everyone,
I was recently experimenting with my LG Quantum, trying to add another theme instead of the two that are already available. I know you can just change the values of one of the existing themes, but I wanted to keep both of the other ones. Anyways, I was using the Registry Editor app (not sure whose it was), and trying to add a key called "2" to HKLM\ControlPanel\Themes. It kept deleting when I refreshed the Registry Editor, so I decided to go into MFG and create the value HKLM\ControlPanel\Themes\2\BaseThemeColor. I then tried to go into the Registry Editor application to see if it had created the Key. But the registry editor didn't open. So I restarted my phone and everything works fine...except none of the applications that have been installed will open. I've tried reinstalling them and downloading different applications that I've never had. Nothing works.
Also, in settings, under the theme, it usually says the name of your current accent color. Now it doesn't say anything, so I'm pretty sure the problem has something to do with the new key that's been added to HKLM\ControlPanel\Themes. I can't delete the key either because the MFG application and Registry Editor won't open... I have no idea what to do.
Any ideas?
Thanks for your help!

EDIT: push notifications from applications work, I just got one.

Click to collapse
Time to reset the phone.
Settings
then select about.
Then scroll down and select Reset Phone.
You will need to reinstall things and reconfigure your email accounts.
Use the same Windows Live ID and you will be able to reinstall everything without repurchasing.
that's what I was dreading... I'll just restore it in Zune. So it's not too far away from what it used to be.
LET THIS BE A WARNING FOR EVERYONE WANTING TO ADD ANOTHER THEME.... DONT DO IT
