Hi All,
As the title describes, I've just upgraded from standard HTC Touch Pro rom to Elite project rom... Everything was kind of ok until I did an spb restore - now when i boot the device up, it asks me for my pin/password, which i remember correctly, but whatever i type in, it doesn't unlock!
I've searched the forums and found this thread which describes the same problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=381722 - However, they mention hard resetting the device using softkeys, but the Touch Pro doesn't seem to have 'hardware' soft keys and u cant press both at the same time on the screen.... Also, I'm pretty sure I unchecked "use previous password" when restoring..
I'm really stuck, and can't use my phone.
Can anyone please help?
Thanks.
Alek.

After doing a ROM upgrade with such a major difference (from stock ROM to Elite ROM) it's a very bad idea to restore a backup.
I personally never restore backups but simply re-install my apps. (you can use UC to make that faster)
I think when you do a fresh install everything will work much smooter / more stable.
Thanks very much, I guess I just panicked a bit because it happened as I was leaving work (bad time to do it) and thought I wasn't going to have the phone for the evening.
The reset worked as described in that link and I restored a much more selective backup. I remember this problem happening before on my Hermes but its been over a year since ive done it and simply forgot to restrict the system files from being restored. The password thing was odd though, I'm sure I had that set right..
Oh well, all's well again for now. Thanks again.

Hey there
I have bought this fine piece of software but iam having trouble with it!
I am mainly going to use it for restoring after rom upgrading (These days a new "must-try" rom comes out allmost every day!)
I can make full backups with without any problems, but when i try to restore after a rom upgrade it gets stuck at HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT. The box stops spinning around and it nothing happens.. Only solution is a soft reset!
I have tried to Force Rom Upgrade mode but that does not help either..
Anyone that knows of this?

It works, disable close all running programs in the menu and try...
I've used the SPB restore function several times without problems. You might try posting a message in SPBs support forum... They might have seen this before.
Well i one click rooted and one click lag fixed but it didnt seem to change the phone when i press the power button to come out of sleep mode. It still takes a second or two. Also when i am done with a phone call it takes a bit for the screen to light up again. Should the fix have fixed this or am i doing something else wrong. Thanks in advance. Im new to android and loving it. Not very tech advanced either so try to keep it in simple terms.

If you are using SetCPU or any Task Killer it has been recommended by most all developers here not to use them because this will cause lag issues with this phone. You may want to check out this thread this ROM is super fast and no lag happenning here. Also, read the entire thread so that you know any issues associated with it.

It is a nice Rom packaged with Atimn's Voodoo Kernel and it is easy for noobs to install. Now that you are rooted get Titanium Backup (donated version0 to back up apps and data, it is one of the best apps money can buy. Also, get ROM Manager (donated version) another tool you won't be able to live without. Both are available on the market.
Ok this looks pretty good. i may have a dumb question though. Do i need to uninstall the fix and root i have?
Thanks
Are you using Ryanza's one click? Just remove the lagix, you can keep root, no problem with that. Backup with Titanium before you flash and be sure to get ROM Manager you will need it to flash this. After you install ROM Manager flash ClockworkMod Recovery, don't be scared it will reboot your phone into recovery and flash an image of your phone as it is now, think of it as a restore point like Windows system restore, it's basically the same thing. This process will then give you the ClockworkMod Recovery screen when you boot into recovery and reinstall packages, it is a green menu, stock is yellow menu, in the green recovery menu you will have an option for Nandroid, that is what you will hear people talking about when they say run a Nandoid backup. It is a great thing because if you eff up your phone you can always revert back to a setup that was working.
Before flashing the Cognition ROM read the entire thread, everything you need to know is in there. If you need any help you can pm me.
Ok great! Thanks a milion!! Ill try it and see what happens
Good Luck and enjoy your phone.
Hi all,
I think I might haves messed things up, where I would have perform a total wipe again, of my Asus TF300T.
Some of you know, I was instructed to perform a total 'wipe' (different than a factory reset), to determine if that would help my constant lag issue (and not responding messages).
Everything is going OK.
But tonight I was working on getting Titanium Backup Pro working again. For a split second I forgot that I needed to install Busybox to get it to work properly.
I installed Busybox and then launched Titanium Backup, granted the required superuser rights. And I was running.
However, almost immediately I got a message stating that my Android Device was changed.
It explained that it was probably due to a factory reset or wipe.
So far it was correct.
Then it offered me a one time chance to replace this new Android Device ID with the old Device ID.
I was having trouble installing a SVOX voice package, something that never happened before.
I made an assumption that it was because of the device ID.
With that stuck in my head, and before coming here first, I decided to restore the old device ID.
I have not tested anything yet. I cleared the caches and did a reboot.
And I immediately came here to get some help to:
1) Get an explanation on what the Android Device ID are used for? (I do have a basic idea what they are for).
2) Did I do the right thing by restoring the old ID? If not, what kind of things can I expected to go wrong.
3) I never wrote down the numbers of the old and new ID's , of course I have the old one, since that is what it got changed to. But if I need the new ID instead of the old one, would I have to perform a total wipe again, to generate a new Device ID ?
Thanks!
Rob
Its all learning for me, I do appreciate the advice and help.

Hey all, before I start I'd like to apologise for making the post here but I don't know what you guys would classify the state of my phone as, "bricked, soft-bricked, hard-bricked", I have no clue! As a result I have no idea what threads to start looking in so I've come here to make this, sorry again!
I'm here looking for help because I think I've completely destroyed my Moto G and really really would like to fix it.
Basically, I had been running an old version of CyanogenMod for months and was not able to update due to the fact my bootloader was not updated. After finally updating it through a tool on XDA, I installed the newest version of CyanogenMod onto the phone and it was all going well, except for the fact all of my Google apps were crashing and making it impossible to use.
Now, I'm not sure why, but without taking any precautionary measures or looking into it at all or what I needed to do, I then decided to try and flash a Paranoid Android rom onto the phone, which installed fine. I load the phone up and something comes up with a passcode saying I need to unlock it to use the phone. I put in some random things and eventually get it, but it says my data is corrupted and therefore I need to reset to factory settings and there's a button there to do it. I think "why not" and click.
So now, the phone did something weird and basically went into a bootloop of the PA logo, so I restarted the phone and went to the bootloader thing. When doing "Normal Startup" it loads the phone with the PA logo like before, comes up with a brief "Android is Upgrading" screen before showing me the passcode screen for half a second, before repeating this, thus having a bootloop. Every so often, I can put my code in and press the reset button again, but it does the same thing.
On the other hand, if I try to access my ClockworkMod recovery system, the screen repeatedly flashes with the CWM background of the Android Alien guy, as if to say it keeps trying to start but it cannot.
TLDR: I cannot access my phone through a normal powerup or through my recovery, have I screwed it completely?
I'd hugely appreciate any help here guys because I'm stressing like I never have before here, thanks!
EDIT: it is the X0123 version!

Just a few questions before I start suggesting a full flash to stock.
Did you have any SIM passwords, boot passwords, CWM passwords before flashing?
Also In CWM does it flash before any options are selected and did you dirty flash the new ROM over the old ROM?
Anyway, your phone is not hardbricked as it can get to recovery so thats good news.
I would suggest flashing your phone back to factory stock using the tools here on XDA (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542219). That should hopefully resolve most of the issues and then if you feel like it you can start flashing custom ROMs again.
Hi there! I have a Stock kitkat d80020y, made root with stumproot but without custom recovery, it's running stock right now.
First of all let me tell that I have in my computer nandroid backup of it (TWRP & CWM) made with OnlineNandroid and one LGBackup made with system restore menu.
Here's the trouble:
I am about to sell my phone so i was backing up some stuff yesterday when i realized it was not syncing contacts with google, after researching a bit I deleted the "com.android.providers.settings" folder which it was situated into "data\data" and rebooted device.
Then, sync problems gone but some another problems came up, couldn't get into some settings just as language, swipe down settings didn't work neither, home button didn't work at all, etc; when tried to use that things, phone just did nothing or stayed one second and got back to home screen. Read something that factory reset would definitely solve my issue, well it did solved it at a glance, home button was functional again but, things like language submenus were still not working.
So then, I try to install an LG Backup using the system app, could restore settings and appeared to be solved, but after another factory reset, remember I'm about to sell it, the whole issues came up again.
As I have nandroid backup I've recently checked the clockworkmod folder and find the deleted folder.
Considering that i could manage to get that LGBackup installed again, could it be possible to paste "com.android.providers.settings" back into "\data\data" folder then?
Should that be the definitely fix? Or I'll have to reflash all nandroid even though I don't wanna take that risk because is just those problems, apparently related to that specific deleted folder, the other things of the phone are intact and work great.
In case of need reflashing, could you tell me about any easy tutorial on how to do it, including custom recovery installation for my stumprooted device?
I don't actually know how to ADB any android device, if you could also help me with the right tutorial and drivers for this phone so i have everything ready just in case of needing CMD to fix this device it would be great.
Hope I get some answers soon so i can quickly fix the device, any ideas are welcomed and will be utterly appreciated.
Sorry for the long text but i wanted to be as clear as i could.
Regards!
