This question is related, and a possible workaround for the problem with sound from applications like Tomtom, while playing let's say a CD in the car stereo.
As it is now, when the phone sits in the car holder, all sound is transferred to the audio contact on the car holder.
If not selecting the phone as the source on the car stereo, no sound is heard from the phone, which is a problem if listening to cd, for example.
I have understood that it might be difficult to route the navigator sound to speaker, while all other sound is routed to the connector. But after searching the net for some hours now, I have not found any application that is able to toggle ALL sound betwen wired headset/connector/line-out and internal speaker. There is many applications for toggling between BT and speaker, but not connector/speaker.
Anyone?
Does anyone know?
I am looking for the same solution but to no avail so far.
Not only BT can be toggled, but also the sound when using the FM Radio, as posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2934624&postcount=7. So there must be a magic switch somewhere.....
Stupid me !!!!!!
To toggle I now just start the FM radio app when connected EDIT....actually in my car I have to have some audio playing running to make the toggle, e.g. CorePlayer END EDIT .....then mute the radio sound (with the speaker icon) and select speaker (the headset icon (toggles between headset and speaker icon). The just start e.g. TomTom and ........the sound is still trough the speaker......
As I said, still need to find what the radio app actually toggles to switch on the speaker to make this a standalone app/registry fix/switch.
MortScript
Since there was no answer or other solution....yet..... I decided to create a MortScript to enable the speaker for me automatically, maybe someone finds it useful:
#Set Volume low to not disturb too much (does not work for the FM app though...)
SetVolume 1
Sleep 2000
#Start Media Player to have sound output
Run "\My Documents\Business\let.mp3"
Sleep 2000
#Start the Radio Application
Run "\Windows\FMRadio.exe"
#WaitForActive ("FM Radio", 15)
Sleep 15000
#Radio Mute
MouseClick 400,600
SendKeys M
Sleep 1000
#(Re-)Set Output to Wired Headset
MouseClick 400,600
SendKeys O
Sendkeys W
Sleep 1000
#Set Output to Speaker
MouseClick 400,600
SendKeys O
Sendkeys S
Sleep 2000
#Exit Windows Media Player (not needed anymore)
Close ("Windows Media")
Sleep 1000
#Set Volume to Max again for Navigation
SetVolume 255
Sleep 2000
#Start TomTom Navigation Software
Run ("\Program Files\Navigator\TomTom Navigator.exe")
BTW: The WaitForActive is removed/commented out in above script since I tried it but did not work with the following mouse commands since it did not wait long enough...
BTW2: I did use the autorun.exe which is included with MortScript and renamed it the same as the script file I created, so I can run an .exe to actually run the script. That way I could use it together with the Diamond TF3D Config tool (available here in the forum) to create an entry in Programs so that it is only one click to start the script.
BTW3: I have not yet tested anything that would notice when I exit TomTom so it would close the FM Radio app too. Currently I am doing this manually.....

I have an 8525 and an A2DP equipped head unit in my car. I love being able to just jump in the car and go, BUT I have to manually hit play/pause on the stereo to control if its playing on startup. If I don't when I get out of the car the thing just keeps on playing over the speaker in the phone.
I did some searching and could not find any results. Is there a plugin or program that does this?

Nope, you always got to play or pause it. Otherwise it just keep playing through the internal speaker
I have a Venturi and with Mortplayer running in the backgroudn when I connect it plays automatically although it doesn't pause or stop...
is that something you can set up in mortplayer? cuz i tried mortplayer and I never saw an option like that
Is it possible to set different volume level as default?
I´d like to play music via Blutooth to my car radio,
simultaneuosly TT is running.
My wish is, that TT-Voice is a little bit louder than music.
I´ve looked into registry but can´t find the correct keys.
Thanks for your ideas.
I use a program by Ageye called G-Profile ( http://www.ageye.de/index.php?s=gprofile/about ). It allows you to set all kinds of different profiles based on different scenarios.
For instance, I have an "equipment based" profile that automatically kicks in when external power is connected + headset. When I'm driving I use that adapter that has 3 plugs going in one side (power, headset & data) and one plug out the other side to plug into the bottom of the device. I plug in the car power adapter + a cord that interfaces with my car radio to play music through the radio and leave the data plug empty. With this setup my phone charges while driving and playing music + using TomTom and all the sounds come through the car speakers. Just set your TomTom to the level you want it to be when you drive and it will be the same each time you use it. Also, look in your TomTom settings...there is something about linking the volume to your car speed (increases as you drive faster, if you want).
There are several tabs in the G-Profile program for all kinds of settings...volume (I have mine to set volume max when I plug in in the car, but turn the ringer way down), connectivity (nothing changes for me while in car), execute (my prefered music player), reminders (none for me while driving), notifications (I don't change any), screen brightness (no changes for me here either).
When I get in the car and plug the one plug from the adapter into my device, G-Profile automatically notices I've plugged in power and "headset" and it automatically launches my music player and sets the volume etc how I want. Very cool. When I unplug it goes back to the default settings for all those tabs, or another profile depending on how you have it set up. I have it so it knows if I'm home (based on Cell tower ID) to turn on my wifi (and make some other changes) so I am connected to my home network before I even get in the front door and have my phone volume etc set how I want it while home. It can tell if I'm at work (grown up sound notifications as opposed to fun sounds used while not at work), in the library (mute everything and jump onto their wifi) etc. You get the picture.
It's a nice program. Might be overkill for the one thing you need. But maybe it does all kinds of stuff you didn't know you "needed" until now! It's not free (4.99 €), but it's not too expensive either. I wouldn't want to be without it since I have 8 profiles set up to all work automatically (no ringers going off in the middle of the night while it charges etc)!
Good luck!
Hi...
the registry key you are looking for is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\HTC\AudioManager\Config]
"music_player_volumn"
default is 100, 65 should work for use with TomTom!
Cheers,

you made my day
testing on way home after work.
That´s it, everything wireless with good sound and volume.
I think it´s worth to move this thread into tweaks and tricks.
Thanks

Hey guys, i'm looking for an app (or even built in functionality) which switches audio profiles dependent on what is plugged in the phone. Case in point, I have my ringer at max volume usually (noisy surroundings) but sometimes when I plug in my headphones to listen to music I forget to switch the ringer and when someone calls I get deafened. Very very annoying (yes my own fault but still), I was wondering if there's a way for the phone to switch profiles based on the fact that headphones are plugged in. Thanks!
Headset Profiler
Here ya go:

I was just having the same issue as you, and i installed this. Works perfect so far with FroYo on N1..
the problem here, I plug 3.5mm jack into two things... car stereo and my headphones. car stereo requires 100% volume where headphones need only 20% max.
I simply installed Quick Profiles and added few profiles, out of which these control the volume: "Sound - Vibrate", "Sound - Headphones", "Sound - Full".
Takes care of the problem, and is easy to use.
Hello,
I think this question has been talked about in another threads/forums.
but I can't find any thread that matches my problem.
To my problem:
When I listen to spotify(using bluetooth headset Sony SBH50) and receive a notification or use TTS, the bluetooth sound get maxed out.
I can't lower the sound until the notification//TTS sound is finished.
It started after last update of spotify
TS done:
Tested another headset (MW600) and I get the same problem, just it has it's own sound settings so I don't get deaf.
If I don't use BT headset I see that the sound get bumped up abit too but not maxed.
Inactivated tasker, same problem.
I have resettet the SBH50 headset and updated firmware.
Tested a mp3 file in xiialive and total commander(music player).
The music get a bit muted during the notification and then back to the same volume level. So sound is not maxed.
Tested Audible and it has a pause function on notification but no maxed out volume.
Solution / workaround
Solution: ? or to get Spotify fix the problem if it's a bug in the app.
Workaround: Was to change settings files to hard set the max BT volume to 50% of what is max today. If it can be done.
System:
Nexus 5
Android 4.4.2
Factory ROM
Rooted
Uses Tasker, don't have any sound alterations tasks.
Used xposed and GravityBox but exposed is deactivated.
TIA
Daniel

Only good side, is that this forces me to listens to some books I have put on hold for a year.
Note: I have dyslexia so if there is anything you don't understand just ask...
Same problem. Extremely annoying. Imagine the situation, casually using bluetooth earphones while shopping, running, commuting & whatnot. And suddenly the music volume maxes out because a notification eg. for a hangout msg or sms goes off. Any ideas how to cure? Re-route bt audio?
Here's something to try:
with the BT headset connected, go to Settings -> Sound -> Volumes and change the notification volume there (again, WITH headset connected)
This should then set the notification volume for the BT headset without changing the media volume.
I use a BT headset all the time with A2DP (LG Tone+) and have never had this problem because I set the individual volume levels as force of habit the first time I connected to N5...
Hope it helps

Hi, tried that but it didn't help.
I have read that ppl have talked about a BT bug, but I have looked into it.

New version of Spotify today. Let see if it's fixed.

I did extensive searching on this and no help so I thought I would try here.
I had Waze on my old S6 and was able to configure waze to send turn by turn directions and alerts through the phone speaker even if the phone is BT connected to the car by configuring waze settings.
Now that I migrated to the S8, Waze will not put out any sound to the phone speaker or the car speakers whens BT connected. It is totally silent. If not BT connected, it will speak through the phone.
I tried the same procedure I used on the S6 to get the audio through the phone speaker.
Anyone have similiar problems and find a solution?
Thanks in advance.
I haven't tried that yet, I usually let it talk through BT but I'll see if I can get it to work so we know if it's a common problem.
Edit: I checked the slider over to sound to speaker and it worked fine for me, sorry.
Nope i don't have that issue.
Just to be on the safe side (although i bet you did)
Did you :
Settings > Sound and voice > play sound to speaker?
Thank you. Yes, Settings > Sound & Voice > Play sound to speaker has a green, checked button that is swiped to the right. App Volume is set to max. Also Sound it set to "Sound on"
I did some more experimentation.
First, I discovered that under Waze ==> Settings ==> Sound & Voice, you must turn off "Play sound to phone speaker". If you have this on, or green, Waze will NOT provide sound guidance through the phone speakers, BT connected or not. Odd I thought.
Second, with the "Play sound to phone speaker" tuned off, and the phone BT connected to the car, if I put the audio source on the car to BT, the navigation voice does indeed go to the car speakers.
I still have not figured out how to force waze to send the navigation sounds through the phone speakers while the phone is BT connected. I prefer it go through the phone speakers, as I would like to set the car to other audio sources instead of BT.
I'm having the same issue with Google Maps. My S6 was able to send the sounds through the speaker instead of Bluetooth but it seems to longer be possible on the S8... The setting used to be in Google Maps but it's no longer there.
Solution found!
I put in a ticket to Waze support and this absolutely cured it.
1. If you are using a voice (I was) that has including street names under the title, please tap Menu > and type [email protected] in the Search bar. This will clear your cache in Waze and should resolve the issue. To check if you're using this type of voice, tap Menu > Settings > Sound and check which voice you're using underneath Voice Directions.
2. Restart Waze
3. Turn on Settings > Sound and voice > play sound to speaker
Enjoy turn by turn navigation while the phone is BT connected to the car and is playing some other audio source.
This worked for me just now:good:
