1. Do I have to buy the TV Out Cables for this phone, or can I get them somewhere else? And cheaper?
2. If I flash this phone and something is wrong with it, can I put the original ROM on it if I need to return it?
1. Yes. Buy it from expansys.
2. Yes. It's just like flashing any other rom onto it.
Next time. Read before you open a new thread. These questions have been answered before.

okay first I would like to say sorry to the forums mods...for posting this in the main forums when it might have been placed somewhere else.
Okay, I am a new member and I have been wanting to do some tricks and bring out all the beast that awaits within my phone. (I have the Motorola Droid-original with the 2.2 update)
Here is a list of what I am looking to learn:
1) how to get to the recovery screen
2) how to do a root and unroot
3) how to do a backup of the current system I have (just in case)
4) everything else that the phone has to offer

Umm, don't want to sound like an ass but you might try looking in the Droid forum rather that just posting a question here. I'm willing to bet they have a sticky about rooting your phone, recovery, and so on.
okay thank you....I will move it to there.....again thanks.
I am trying to move this thread to the proper place but can't seem to find the way in which to do this. Can anyone help me with this......It should have been in the Droid section of this forum. Sorry.
My apologies up front. I have been doing ALOT of reading and may have missed this along the way but.... All I want right now is ROOT. No roms, no voodoo, just root. I am mostly concerned with backing up all of my data with Titanium Back up.
Feel free to bash me, but some where along the way please point me in the right direction.
I had tried rooting once before with my samsung Fascinate but I bricked it, so I'm a little gun shy with Odin.
Thanks in advance.
Noob
Here's the steps as I know it:
0. Download the latest Samsung drivers onto your computer and install them (so your computer recognizes your phone when you plug it in)
1. Download the latest ODIN
2. Go to this thread and download the Clockwork Mod Recovery (CWM)
3. Use ODIN to flash CWM onto your phone (if you don't know how to use ODIN, follow this thread)
4. Download imnuts' kernel from here
5. Follow the steps in imnuts' kernel thread to flash the kernel via CWM
6. ????
7. Profit!
Your phone is now rooted. No ROMs, no voodoo enabled.
EDIT: It's actually really difficult to brick your phone, at least the Droid Charge, as long as you follow the proper flashing instructions for ODIN. Make sure you use PDA!
See this thread. It's up at the top of the Q&A section. Try searching there next time before posting a question.
It's a shame that's all you want to do though. Stock really bogs down this phone, it can be so much more if you let it.
First, Hiien...thank you
Second Hazard209... like I said in my post, I must have missed it. I have gone cross eyed bouncing from one thread to another. The vast list of options for this phone is both awesome and confusing as hell for a noob. I find myself getting off track, almost "you tube like". I start with rooting and wind up looking at posts about gps problems and the newest music player.
for now I just want to root----back up-----and then go forth and rom myself silly.. but first, baby steps

Lol. I know what you mean. I was the same way when I just got my charge and "discovered" XDA.
Hi, I've searched the threads for this question but didn't really find a clear answer. I'm sorry if this is a noob question because i just sold my Mytouch 4g and looking to buy this phone. I'm just wondering how easy is it to brick this phone because I've read on forums of people bricking their sensation by formatting their SD card, installing an aosp roms, etc. I really want this phone and i NEED ROOT. Any suggestions?
You'll be fine. You've already done some research and found a nasty way of bricking it. Beyond that, it should (hopefully) be just the standards: trashing radio or bootloader
Thanks for the reply. Ok so basically just don't format the sd card on an aosp rom and i'll be fine?
Bug may have been addressed in some newer (read: very new) implementations, judging by a post I came across a few hours ago. Don't have it on hand anymore.
But, might as well format via pc or recovery to play it safe.
Check hash of radio/bootloader if possible and be very careful to not cut the usb / crash if flashing externally.
Alright thanks for your help.
I just downloaded a rom for my phone, Galaxy Y. The rom already had OTA (I believe it means Over the Air Updates), from 1-7. When flashing them, should I flash them one by one then restart my phone or can I flash one then flash another before I restart?
By the time this has been answered, I probably already have flashed them one by one (then restart). But thanks anyway for any answers since I think I'll be checking a lot of roms.
You can flash both but understand that one will write over the other so make sure to back it up and flash either the suggested ota rom or the one you found. If something goes wrong? The backup will put you back as you were before the rom flash.
Why not see for the answer in the rom thread?
I guess it has been answered several times in that thread if you are talking about evo x3.

Got that. Tried yesterday and only one update worked so yeah, copy that.

Nah. New accounts have to have at least 10 posts somewhere before they can post in any Developmental sections.

It is a noname unit, otherwise you would have known the brand already yourself.
Besides, it is not a brand but a reseller. It is indeed a FYT.
Nobody will tell you how to do "step by step" as you obvisoulsy did not read anything here. It is already described in multiple threads.
I bought the car with the unit, all i know to put files on USB stick and connect to unit then it should reboot and install itself. Ive looked around the forum but i'm completely newbie when it comes to do such a thing.

First use my HWgetinfo apk (see below in my signature) to check what the reseller id is.
Then read (at least) post #1 and #2 of "General FYT based Spreadtrum uis7862 (unisoc ums512) - Q&A, Mods, tips, firmware".
Normally you should know what to do after you did read that.
Nobody will repeat step by step what you want, when it already has been described.
Don't expect others to waste time when you don't want to put time into it.
That is waht a forum is for. You are certainly not the first asking this, so search the forum.
