Greetings people.
Since my storage card is full with over 700 mp3's, audiobooks and stand up comedy shows, naturally when I navigate to the TF3D music player it lags. A lot!
It takes about 10-15 seconds just to load the music files, and another 10 seconds from the moment I hit play/pause/next till it actually starts/pauses/changes a song. Plus it loads all my audiobook tracks as well.
Is there a way to make the TF3D Music tab search under -only one- folder? For example Storage Card/My Documents/My TF3D Music?
I tried the solution posted here but it doesn't work.
Thank you in advance!
I love the net.
On December, I was searching for over a week for a solution and found nothing.
Yesterday, I searched for a minute and voila, solution found!
Quick note: Total Commander did not make sub-directories hidden as well. I had to mount my sd on my pc and manually set any folder I wanted as hidden.
It all works flawlessly now
Seems a bit excessive but I guess if it works?
I don't think I've ever had to do that with the ROM in my sig but if you aren't up for flashing a custom ROM, then perhaps this is a better solution.
Hello everyone.
So if you got your GTA3 on your Android and would like your own custom songs played in car radio stations, here is an easy way to do it.
All radio stations are actually 1 recording, which includes commercials, songs, etc. So for each radio station there is 1 audio file.
What you can do is either replace the radio station with 1 song, edit the existing radio station or combine more songs into 1 file and use that.
Here is how you do it.
1) Getting the files
Connect your phone via USB, navigate to this path:
sdcard/Android/data/com.rockstar.gta3/files/GTA3/audio
***note: the path could be a little different, check both internal and external cards and look inside Android/data or just data/ or data/data folder - you are looking for com.rockstar.gta folder, should be over 400MB size***
When you find the folder, copy the following files to your computer:
HEAD.nfx
CLASS.nfx
KJAH.nfx
RISE.nfx
LIPS.nfx
GAME.nfx
MSX.nfx
FLASH.nfx
CHAT.nfx
Each of these files represents one radio station, here is the chart:
head radio = HEAD.nfx
double cleff fm = CLASS.nfx
jah radio = KJAH.nfx
rise fm = RISE.nfx
lips 106 = LIPS.nfx
game fm = GAME.nfx
msx fm = MSX.nfx
flashback 95.6 = FLASH.nfx
chatterbox 109 = CHAT.nfx
2) Back up!
Once you have those 9 files on your computer just copy them in a folder for backup.
That way, if you screw something up OR wish the original radio stations back you can.
3) Customizing radio stations
Replace 1 radio station with 1 song
Let's say you don't like game fm and would rather listen to your song coolsong.mp3
Make a copy of your mp3 song
Rename coolsong.mp3 to GAME.nfx
Replace your newly created GAME.nfx file with the original GAME.nfx file on your phone (overwrite)
Done. In game, select game fm radio station to listen to your coolsong!
Replace 1 radio station with multiple songs
Similar to replacing 1 song. Only here, you use some audio joining software to merge multiple songs in 1 file.
Let's say you don't like game fm and would rather listen to X other songs
Merge/join your songs with audio editing software (google for help)
Let's say you merged X songs in a file named mergedsongs.mp3
Rename mergedsongs.mp3 to GAME.nfx
Replace your newly created GAME.nfx file with the original GAME.nfx file on your phone (overwrite)
Done. In game, select game fm radio station to listen to your mergedsongs!
Edit existing radio stations
You can also edit (cut out, add, etc) the existing radio stations.
Let's say you wish to edit radio station game fm
Rename GAME.nfx to GAME.mp3 --> now you have 1 mp3 file you can play on your PC or edit
Use any audio editing software to add/remove/etc parts of the GAME.mp3
When done, rename GAME.mp3 back to GAME.nfx
Replace your newly created GAME.nfx file with the original GAME.nfx file on your phone (overwrite)
Done. In game, select game fm radio station to listen to your creation!
4) Tips
If you wish to have the original radio stations back, just copy your files from backup folder on your pc to your phone in the /com.rockstar.gta3/files/GTA3/audio folder and overwrite
You can edit only some radio stations, none or all - depends if you only want your custom music to play or only wish to replace certain stations
If you can't see the file extensions (for example only see GAME and not GAME.nfx) on your pc, go to Control Panel -> Folder Options -> View and uncheck "hide extensions for known file types"
Questions?
If you have any questions feel free to ask.
Enjoy listening to your favorite music in your GTA3 game on android.

Thanks Too bad that it lags so much on Galaxy S.. I hope they fix it in future updates or that someone figures out how to disable replay recordings or something to improve playability.
Great tutorial!
The file renaming and moving is also possible within your phone using a file manager!
I tried it a few times and it worked great but i may have messed up somewhere as each time i enter a vehicle it seems to crash im assuming this is to do with the audio anyways....
Playing on Galaxy SII
Glad you like it Yeah no reason why it shouldn't work on phone, glad you find it useful.
Working well on Galaxy S2..Thank you!
Cool dude, thanks !

I don't like the radio in gta iii. E.g.: Commercials where they talking about cute kittens that you get over night blaaaaa.
Can I link your thread in my Modding thread? That would be great!
Ofcourse man go ahead
cool tut for those wondering how-to
can the changed filesize be as big as i want?
Yes filesize shouldn't matter. For example original file sizes were atleast twice smaller than my new files, so it shouldn't matter.
Im just preparing them and my files are like 40-50mb. Ill let you know if it works, but I think it will.
EDIT:
works all fine. thanks so much!!!
gta

just swipe left or right on the name of the radio
Hi, unfortunly it doesn't works for me, i've done all you've said, but each time i try it ingame and select the chosen radio, there is no music playing and after a few seconds the game stop running.
P.s : i'm on Tegra 2 smartphone, don't know if it matters but i wanted to point it out ^^
Anyway to make this works ?
Thanks !
Why not just use pandora in the background, or the default music player instead of going through all this? I use pandora while playing music even on foot just like the 360
I am trying to figure out how to get the title of the currently playing track from the shell.
The reason I am doing this is I am working on some "quick and dirty" keyboard shortcuts to do stuff on my phone. For example, I have a hotkey to play, pause, next track, volume + and volume - all from my keyboard and wanted a way to get the currently playing track from my keyboard, but I have yet to find a nice way to do this.
To do the above steps, it is specific to how my phone is set up (it uses "input tap" and "input swipe"). So my scripts will not be useful to anybody who doesn't have their phone set up exactly like mine, but I am willing to give advice to any other users who want to poke at this sort of thing.
The below steps can be done on any rooted phone. But is restricted to the apollo media player. I would like to find a way to either make it universal (which is unlikely) or find a media player I can do this with (be it apollo or something else).
I use Apollo for the media player and have used its /data/data/*apollo/databases/albumhistory.db file and sqlite3 to get the album and artist that is currently playing (by grabbing the row where oid = max(oid)), but this database does not contain the name of the track currently being played.
If this is easier with a different media player, I am more than willing to switch.
Any tips?
EDIT: Solved. run:
basename "$(ls -l /proc/$(pidof mediaserver)/fd | sort -g -k 9 | grep -m 1 mp3)" .mp3
as root.
I did this with my gear 1 . Uploaded a video to it via USB . is there a way to do the same thing with the gear 2/neo ? I want to be able to upload a movie or show for a bus ride or long car ride . I dont see a video player app or a way to transfer anything but mp3s.
I don't like it!
This goes back to the Tizen SDK/apps thing.
We would need to get a Video player install package, and need to install it to the Gear 2 via USB and a computer. Unfortunately I don't know of any place to get a Tizen video player.
You can do this. I ran a few videos through Handbrake and transfered to the watch via USB. They then show up in the gallery and you can play them.
Not sure I'd want to watch any full length feature on this when I usually have a bigger screened phone with me, but it's been useful for putting instructional videos I've grabbed from Youtube and then playing from my wrist while I'm fixing something.

Never mind .I figured it out. Next time I wont try and do this in the middle of the night .
for ref : /opt/usr/media and in there is folders for video , music , and more.
You will need to make sure your mp4 is formatted correctly . ( In my case the standard android phone preset in my trans coder ) Once uploaded it will not always show up in gallery . You many need to restart the gear for it to refresh the contents. But it seems to play fine Volume and seek options on the screen .
my rooted s10 stock android 9 OS randomly (every week or so) will play a 1 min long ringtone.
This ringtone file creates no notification or alert (I proved this by using several notification sniffers)
It's not saved as one of the ringtone or notification sounds on my phone.
It does not do any type of notification I have already tried notification sniffers and it does not do any type of notification at all.
I kill all apps, turn of the screen, nothing can stop it from playing the entire toon for about 1 minute
I have posted on several boards but cant figure it out.
I have heard of matlog but millions of things are firing and I can't figure out how that can help.
maybe if someone could help me with a procedure on what to do with matlog once I hear that ringtone sound start to play.
Like, first step, second step, third step.
thanks so much!
Can you search it by audio file types?
I recorded it playing using another phone, and searched all over but can't find anything about it
the audio file I recorded is here:
Dropbox - File Deleted - Simplify your life
www.dropbox.com
It may be a .wav file, a lot of phone ringtones are.
There can't be that many sound files in the phone for the system or apps.
If it happens in safe mode it's a system app doing it.
Play with it...

Sound files come as MP3, OGG or WAV files. Hence search phone for these file types
Code:
cd /data
find . -type f \( -name "*.mp3" -o -name "*.ogg" -o -name "*.wav" \)
