If I understand correctly, If i have ADP1 installed I will not have Myfaves on my Phone. Does this only mean no Icon, or will it mean I can no longer use myfaves? I would like to have ADP1 for the future, but i currently have 1.3 Installed. Would I still be able to use myfaves without the myfaves icon?

First there was no need for this post. You can find this info searching. But if you have myfaves setup on tmo website then it will still bill you correctly regardless of whether the app is installed on your phone
Thank you for the info.
I have been following all the posts closely. Unfortunately I am pretty sure it only states that you will loose myfaves. The post does not specify if this means the ICON or the Functionability.

Without the app installed you lose the functionalilty. Billing is different than software and apps
I think what he means is will he lose the ability to call 5 people at the rates that MyFave has.
While I am speculating, I don't think this would do anything except take away the fancy schmancy app. You "should" be able to call those people for free still.

Without the MyFavs app you can still make your myfavs calls and they will be rated as free if they are in your contacts. You can actually have a myfavs plan with any phone but if you dont have the myfavs application installed on your handset, you wont be able to change your favs on the handset. The calls will still be billed correctly as long as you have a myfavs plan.
I think momentary understood me best.
Yeah, I wanted to know if I would still be billed correctly. I did however. Forget about adding/changing contacts. This puts me back at square one. I will check to see if they can be added @ their website.
Any idea if the myfaves can be added to the dev phone as an option? While cheezy it is. I also like the function. Unlike a lot of G1 and Anti-G1 owners I find the phone to be attractiive and functional. I like well built programs with nice gui and I think the myfaves is a good thing.
Is their any reason other than building my own versions that woul neccessitate ADP1 over version JF1.31 currently or in the near future?

You can manage your myfavs contact online at my.t-mobile.com
Doing your contact management this way allows you to phones that aren't "myfavs compatible" according to t-mobile.
Hi! i have been reading over this website for a while and just got the new HTC PURE. i have a few questions and hope maybe some of the senoir users can point me in the right direction.
I have been searching and maybe im not using the right verbage.
I have used spb products before and liked what they did for the form and function of my old HTC 8125.
so now im looking for a couple of things for this new pure to make it how i would like it.
( fresh out of the box htc pure att )
first i would like to add some new tabs to the carousel such as a sports tab
next the start menu with all of the att support icons seem a bit useless to me and a waste of space. how do i remove things such as " att music, att navigator, att wi fi .....)
i have never done anything with rom and im not sure if i should but im up for suggestions.
so over all should i just buy the spb mobile shell or should i download something here.
ill keep reading the FAQs and hunt for answers on my own. and thank you all in advance for any advice

Never heard about a sports tab...
Cleaning the start menu is possible in /My Device/Windows/Start Menu/Programs and there you can delete all you want...
i guess ill have to find out if there any problems with removing that bloatware and the programs they are attached to.
Mobile Shell is used by a lot of people, but If I were you I would give the standard interface a bit longer, it really depends on how you want to use your phone and how 'shiny' you want it all to look while using it.
With the above tip about the start menu, I find it a great help to use folders to 'clean-up' the menu. (ie Create some folders eg GPS, Installed, Sports! ??)
As for adding tabs to the carousel, from what 'I' believe it is very difficult if not impossible to add tabs over the selection currently used, I know some have been able to change a tabs usage, or icon, but I haven't seen a way to add additional tabs, someone correct me if I'm wrong!
Edit: Just read about the 'bloatware' if it came with the phone, it can't be removed (its cooked into the ROM), but the shortcuts to it in the Start menu can be removed, I would cut them from the start menu and save them in a folder (in my Docs or somewhere other than the start menu), that way if you decide you need them, it is easy to put them back.
If it was possible to remove the bloatware from the stock ROM, my pure wouldn't have gotten flashed without 30 min of me owning it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=585201
That should help you with everything you need to flash. I don't believe its possible to add tabs in touchflo, unless they are hidden. Some of the newer ones have the program tab hidden, but you can reenable it via registry.
thanks for the help! i have moved the bloatware as suggested and thank you for the responses.
As for how i will use my phone, i love the touchflo, and the phone itself. i have never flashed anything and im not sure i plan to. generally speaking ive been happy with the proformance of the phone, however having a news tab a sports score tab and a facebook tab would be great and i would love to have them all update say on an hourly basis. maybe one day.
right now im trying to figure out what ill gain from flashing the rom and which rom i would use.
any advise would be great
thanks again
Hi
I know I'm well behind but recently I got my first smartphone and I can't believe how I've been without it since they were made available. I've plumped for the HTC wildfire as it fits my budget and its small size makes it very pocketable.
I've been playing around with various apps and installed "Where's my droid" so that if it gets lost/stolen I can turn it off silent and hopefully track it. However, reading something yesterday I became aware that changes to Android means that apps can no longer directly change system settings meaning that if the GPS is off, I can't track it. (Edit: yet it seems google navigation can do this?)
Is this correct and is there any other way I could implement a safeguard such as this in case the phone goes missing?
A few other queries I have:
> Can the messages widget be used as a more traditional inbox/outbox/drafts? I'm struggling to get my head around it!
> And I've been playing about with swype on another users phone but it won't work on mine due to the QVGA res, I've settled for slideit demo for now but it doesn't seem to work seamlessly, does anyone have anything to add to this?
> Lastly, my Dad (who isn't great with tech) purchased the same phone, apart from the user manual is there a "HTC for Dummies" youtube tutorials channel or anything similar I can point him at? I don't fancy adding another item that I need to maintain to the long list.
Hopefully at some point I can also work out a good way of utilising a speed camera and POI database for google navigation so I can replace the bulky tomtom unit!
Thanks in advance.
Paul
Longtime winmo user with t-mobile since mda vario so have gotten used to tweaking the registry direct and finding/installing ARM cabs off the internet, but as Android seems to be the way to go i feel now is a good time to take the plunge, so just a few noob questions about android to make me feel at ease
#1 Can you save direct from the browser files such as mp3s zips rars etc to be viewed later? having used a friends iPhone i noticed it streamed music and video files rather than a save as option.
#2 Do you have control of the directory structure eg a form of file explorer,so you can rearrange where things are located on your device or card.
#3 given I'm not very likely to mess around with roms and the like, and this phone has htc's sense front end, will I find the migration from the HD2s interface to the sensation easy? i love all the Facebook, YouTube and twitter integration so I'm hoping it will all be there in some form or another.
I realise a lot of this is subjective and rather depends on the individual, but I would appreciate feedback on these less techie issues, as im more likely to base my upgrade on functionality than specification.
cheers!

1) yes
2) yes (Astro File manager works very well)
3) you shouldnt have a problem making the transition.
I'd like to add in a questions since I'm doing the exact same thing (MDA>Tilt>TP2>HD2).
Is there any way to backup my text messages to my PC & read them from there? I currently use Jeyo Mobile Extender to back up my HD2s texts to Outlook & can read them there.
Also, I use Outlook to sync my calendar & contacts, is it an easy transition from this to using Google? I've seen how you can use the HTC Sync program to sync with Outlook but that doesn't look as easy as using Active Sync/WMDC
When I used WinMo/Outlook last (2008), I imported my contacts directly into Google. A search will get you multiple ways I'm sure.
Handcent is widely considered the best replacement SMS client on Android, and it offers some cloud features for SMS.
Alternately, you could port your number to Google Voice or simply use Voice for all of your SMS needs so it's all managed withing the Android app and available on the web.
There are many SMS backup app utilities also.
Ok more questions.
-How easy/hard is it to change the various icons & stuff in Android. I currently use DINIK's custom just about everything on WM6.5 & would like to do something similar in Android.
-Can the camera timestamp pics on the image like in WM?
-If you add a birthday to a Contact & sync does it automatically add it to the Calendar (& put it all the way back to the year) like in WM?
I may have more. Also, sorry OP for hijacking your thread.
I've never seen a reason to change any of the icons in Android. The stock Android icons are just fine, and Sense might change that. Can't answer that one.
I'm not sure why you'd want to put a timestamp on the actual photo. All of that information is in the EXIF data embedded in the .jpg. My Nexus One has no apparent means of adding the timestamp, but there are many, many camera applications available and I'm sure it's a feature elsewhere. Also, the Sensation might not use the Android camera, and that feature could be present in an HTC camera.
I always did like the birthday thing in WM, and I've not fiddled with it enough to see if that's a feature that has been retained. The stock Android calendar widget is crap, as it's only one event per day, so perhaps Sense and/or a Calendar app, of which there are many, can facilitate this.
(As I said, I've used WM6 in the past, but it's been a while. My Herald with WM6.5 was okay, but the last time I used it as a primary phone was November 2008 on the MDA.)
I understand all the info in in the EXIF data, but I do like having the timestamp so I can see the date of the pic right away.
So the stock Calendar app kinda sucks huh? Hmm I'll have to look in to that when I get this phone. I rely on this app a lot for reminders of birthdays, bills, tasks, etc.
As for the icons, I'm just curious. WMs icons sucked (as everyone knows) so of course everyone wanted them changed. I'd just like to know that the option is there for Android in case I want to do it.
Fair enough.
The calendar app is decent, and you can set alarms and notifications with ease. One of the greatest things about the Google integration is that your changes done on the device or web are synchronized, which I'm certain you're aware of.
The Calendar widget is my complaint. You can have 10 events happening on a day and it'll only display one of them. Not two, or an indicator that there are more events to be seen. One.
There are other free and paid calendar widgets that make this much less an issue.
Google app icons are, like most things Google, simple and effective.

ah ok, thanks for the clarification. Sadly WM is the same way but the mod Cookie's Home Tab was able to fix that & let's you decide how many to show. I guess I'll have to find a replacement.
I'm actually shocked people still use winmo on HD2. Android is a breath of fresh air.

I tried it once, couldn't get the MMS settings to stick & just forgot about it. I like WM6.5 but I'm ready for an OS that still has support for new stuff.
Another question: my girlfriend has the MyTouch4G. I've noticed the screen doesn't turn on when receiving a text message. Is this standard on Android? Is there anyway to fix that?
Also, for the MMS settings on hers, there's no way to choose how to download the pic. With WM on my HD2 it gives you the option of original resolution & other, smaller ones. Is there a way to do that in Android as well?
The MT4G has some serious tweaks to it, but the SMS behavior is probably normal. I recommend Hancent again because not only does it wake and notify, but you can send a reply without unlocking the screen, though it does not unlock the device.
MMS saving is pretty much save-what-you-get, which sometimes is not that large. There are also MMS-saving apps.

If she is on stock? The stock screen turns on briefly then turns off. The mms setting is weird it took me awhile to find out how to do it. You don't click the picture you click and hold slightly above it and then there is an option to save.

Fair play. what got my goat, was windows mobile has been out for a looong time. And it didn't really change much. then iphone came along, with a million quality apps, and nothing really changed with winmo. and then Android came along with a million free apps, and after a while in the UK we got the Marketplace in the UK with, erm about 8 apps, and then they charged you like £20!
After playing with these other phones, as soon as a reliable android rom became available, I gave winmo the 2 fingers. I've used them for 10 years, so have a right to be miffed. But yeah, roms not designed for the device were flakey. and like you I prob won't mess with my next phone.
Was just shocked that people stuck to winmo, with there being an alternative, - unlimited amount of android fun.
Anyone not used these android phones will be blown away with the amount of free useful and gimmicky apps.

it sucks. I'll send her a pic from the HD2 & when she gets it it's been shrunk down a lot. When she sends me a picture it's still fairly big because of the setting on WM.

it's not the saving that I'm worried about, it's the fact that pics that I send her that should be a lot bigger are shrunk down in size. If someone sends me a pic, I want it to be as big as possible & not be messed with before it gets to me.

I agree, I like stock ROMs. The 3.14 ROM is nice & I have it set up perfectly with CHT. I'm going to do the same thing tho with my HD2 once I get the Sensation.
There's no good reason to use MMS between you two. Get Dropbox accounts and share a folder. Upload photos there and they're full size and accessible anywhere.

yeah but there's still a reason to MMS between me & my mother/sister/brother/buddy/friends that don't have Android phones.
Your reasoning is kinda like the reason Apple kept MMS out of the iPhone for so long: they thought it wasn't needed because you can just email it. Sorry but MMS will be around for a bit.
Oh man, good on you for reminding me of how Apple resisted MMS for so long. Heck, most people forget that the iPhone HAD NO APPS for a year after it was released.
@OP
Are you looking about upgrading to the Sensation, or is this about android on the HD2
If it isn't about the sensation, do you mind if I move this to HD2 Android.
Long story short -
I own the SM-G925P and I'm very displeased with it after receiving yet another update today that included more bloat ware to the device. I was upset with the last major update as well because it included applications like 'App Spotlight'
App Spotlight allows Sprint to collect money and to push notifications to your device to highlight recommended applications. I don't agree with this practice at all. I found it very annoying back in the Android 2.0 days and was happy when Android effectively killed that in Android 4. I myself as others didn't pay a high premium for a device to be and ad space for Sprint.
The device has native voice mail notification turn off (WMI Support) which forces you to have to use their voice mail application on the device that looks like a 10 year designed it, let alone again, there is premium features and ad space in the application. These are set to on by default and you can turn this off by visiting the application and turning off the Premium feature or by paying something like $2 a month. If you disable the application you lose voice mail notifications all together.
Yes i'm very aware that you can disable some of the applications, I'm also very aware of using Knox IT policy to disable any application I want with out root, but it comes down to I shouldn't have to do this for a device you pay top dollar for.
Right now I'm using Package Disable Pro, I have 202 Packages disabled on my device currently. Not all of it is Sprint no alot of it is Samsung truthfully. Tonight after the update I still have 202 packages disabled and now I have to add an additional 10 or so, or see if they can be uninstalled or deleted from the application manager first.
Do i have a few issues with the device with 202 applications disabled eh yes really only two issues that concern me. One my dialer codes don't work. To lazy to locate the package that has them working, two my google wallet if I use NFC closes. Other than that no I don't and my phone is running better then ever with 0 to very little lag something that Samsung promised and advertised with these devices., but not to our surprise failed to deliverer the first set of issue was the major memory leak form lollipop, honestly this phone sucked the first time out of the box after the first day of use.
Any way long story short I filed a BBB report against them, they are not accredited so I doubt they will care, but I'm looking to have my plans canceled return the devices for a refund reminding on them.
Hows every one else's day going haha?
If you didn't want all that bloatware on your device (which has been the case since...like forever with Touchwiz), why didn't you just get a Nexus?
I doubt anything will happen with the BBB because there really is no false advertising or any misleading issues with your purchase. Now if you had gotten a few lemons and kept getting them replaced to fix an issue...maybe there would be something.
I'm not specifically talking about touchwiz bloat ware. I accepted the fact that touch wiz has its own and Samsung includes its own app store's etc.
What I'm talking about is Sprint's bloat ware, how the device brands it self after activation based on (Virgin mobile/Sprint/Boost etc) when you first power on the device you don't have a ton of applications pre-installed. After activation the device brands it self to either of these carriers based on who you activated it with. Like two voice mail icons / apps (com.sprint.voicemail: yellow icon takes you to voice mail, com.coremobility.app.vnotes: blue icon used for actual notifications and visual voice mail filled with ads unlike other carriers)
Spotlight - again used to push highlighted apps to my device; added during an update was not originally on the device when purchased.
I should have made notes of each additional bloat that was added to the device with each upgrade but I failed to do that, but noted the most annoying one sense I randomly was getting notifications in my notification center. (Mind you I don't have any third party applications installed on my device it is 100% out of box with what ever applications disabled or can be uninstalled).
The point of what I was making on this, is you spend 5-700$ dollars on a device for them to make it an ad supported. I would have been more understanding of ads or pushing bloat to the device with each upgrade if the device was free. They are getting paid to push notifications to your device for featured games/applications etc. I do not agree with this business tactic at all and no where does it state they may do this.
The device was advertised and pushed by sales teams as the fastest device on the market at the time with a lag free experience. I specifically remember the commercial about this. The problem with that is you released a device with a bugged OS knowingly from the beginning ( Android 5.0 memory leak ) many devices that received 5.0 had major issues and lots of people were wanting to downgrade back to 4.X because of it. It wasn't until the 3rd update that it was improved but not resolved. I don't know its current status as I stopped following the issues. The device is no where as fast / lag free as they claim if anything I have had more lag issues with this device then a device on kitkat.
Now what you don't know is that I work with cell phones on a day to day basis, I have my hands on many different devices at a time. Comparing this device to many other devices against other carriers and Sprints specifically is one of the worst between its stupid IOTA services and other things. Comparing this device to the Verizon edge with older software and the Verizon firmware feels more improved then Sprints.
I will have to write more latter, if you were local to me it would be easier for me to point out the issues in person, and if you have similar OCD like mine it will eat at you like it has me.
File a complaint to the BBB and that will get you nothing and nowhere. You can actually disable most of the apps, google play news/games/books/ect.
You put your finger on and app, hold your finger on it and drag it up to the disable option or uninstall on apps you don't want.

This is nothing new for Sprint either...nor Verizon for that matter. When you activate either of those (and my guess is the other 2 major carriers as well) it connects to the network, downloads necessary as well as licensed apps and drivers. There are a lot more Sprint specific apps that they don't install. Go to Apps and Sprint in Play and see what they could have put on. As mentioned, most of the apps are able to be disabled. With root they can be removed. This has been the case for several iterations of Samsung US phones. My GF's Note 4 did this, I think the S5 and Note 3 did as well. I fail to see how Sprint putting extra programs on your phone is a case for the BBB. But good luck with your case. Again sounds like you should stick to Nexus devices going forward.
This same phone is used on the CDMA network in India so it is more convenient to install carrier specific files upon activation.
I could care less about what comes on a phone being that it's 100% customizable. Hell, be happy it's not as much of a headache as iPhone. If it's not for you then don't buy it. That's what the demos are for in the store. I usually buy a phone, play around with the stock for a few hours, root and customize to my standard. After these last 2 updates, I'm very pleased with the phone
Try this
We all dislike some bloatware, but all carriers include it.
A better option that people can follow along with, is change.org where anyone can start actual community petitions against companies.
I would sign your petition. I'm sure many people will.
BBB is simply not the place for this type of opinion, as Sprint would probably call it just that.
If you disabled over 200 apps, i can bet a large amount of those are system apps that are needed by one thing or another. If you're going to disable things that you aren't sure of, dont complain about nfc not working. The system comes with about 290 total apps, and over 150 of those are required for everything on the device to function properly. And sprint isn't making much money off you paying for the phone. They have to buy them from Samsung, for more than what you even lease the phone for.
