No photosphere, no leveler, some games controls take a hit also.
No Google Cardboard VR either.
Not a big deal. I've never had any use of a gyroscope... I don't even feel it's missing.
Starchart is very choppy also, probably becuase of missing gyro
Lol
Screen rotation works fine
The accelerometer does not have the same function as the gyroscope? As gyroscope is used in mobile phone?

At least the compass works?

A gyroscope is a device that uses Earth’s gravity to help determine orientation.
An accelerometer is a device designed to measure non-gravitational acceleration.

I dont feel the lack of gyroscope. People talks about CB and Photosphere but none of them knows the real functions of gyroscope, get over it guys. Its a great and cheap mobile.
I changed my Nexus 5 for the Moto X play a few weeks ago. Overall, I found a nice change, mainly by the posibility of having external memory, dual sim and a large battery, but, there is no point having a great camera if you can not take photosphere and panoramic pictures. Is there any possibility of emulating this function with any hack???

You don't need gyro to take panoramic pictures, because I have a Moto X Play and I can take pan pictures just fine. No photosphere though (but I don't miss this feature).

Does the built in camera take panorama photos? If yes, how?I don't have that option. If not, what camera app are you using for that?
What about something like Microsoft's Hyperlapse app? Will that work?

I think so, yes. Why wouldn't the app work?
You must be right, but it is uggly that with the google camera app, I had 5 different picture options on my nexus 5 but with the moto x play I just have 3: Camera, Video and Lens Blur. It's not a "neccesary" option, but I miss it.

I thought it used the gyroscope to stabilize the footage. Might be the accelerometer then .
So I'm not sure when it started as I don't use my camera much. However, whenever i use any application that uses the rear camera (gcam, snapchat, stock camera) the image is very blurry. Dunno if it's because it can't focus or because of something else. Anyone have any suggestions in what to do?
How does it look when you take a normal photo then? Like is should?
I had that with certain kernels, the focus is locked at x distance. I upgraded the kernel (elemental) and it solved my problem.

I might try updating the kernel or just install stock again. The focus doesn't appear to be locked anywhere.
No dust in camera lense?.
Hi guys. I was wondering if someone with a rooted device could answer me this. So, since the A8 has no live focus on rear camera, I wonder if it's possible activating it just by adding the same lines of the selfie camera on the camera-feature.xml file on the rear camera section.
Maybe Samsung could have disabled this. Since like the S8 has just one camera and got the live focus. I don't know, maybe the software really don't support it and I could be wrong.

Oh that's sad. Btw, thanks for the answer. Guess I'll have to wait till someone make an workable GCam for the Android pie.
hi everybody!
i dont recall the front camera to not zoom (pinch to zoom) before the latest March update. A colleague of mine told me, on his Nokia 5 he cant zoom in anymore with the front camera and neither can i on my N7+. Has anyone else noticed this? Is it something configurable in the settings? Thanks!
aint there anyone who can quicly try zooming with the front camera? If he has the latest update?

Maybe they blocked zoom because the camera is 4MP that create an output of 16MP through interpolation, so the zoom could mess up the process
