Noob Hard Reset Question - Touch Pro, Fuze General

I think I have hosed my QuickGPS app. I installed the HTC_QuickQPS.cab that I found elsewhere on these forums but now when I attempt to start the app It says "The file 'QuickGPS' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found."
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the .cab file but it is the same thing.
If I do a hard reset, will I have to call Sprint and reactivate the phone? What will I lose? Contacts? Programs?
I don't want to be without the use of the phone!
Can anyone think of a way to get the QuickGPS app back (I never could get it to work anyway).
Chris

No. Hard reset is to bring your device to manufacturer state. You will loose everything e.g contacts, programs, and settings....
If " QuickGPS app" is pre-installed on your phone, you will get it back after hard reset.

Can not remove ANY program from WM5 Device

Hey everyone,
I'm having problems with my i-mate JASJAR. It has stock, updated firmware and is running really well. The only real problem that I have is that I can't uninstall any software. The error message I get is:
"<Program Name> was not completely removed. Do you want to remove it from the list of installed programs?"
This goes for ANY program. If I try uninstalling from ActiveSync, it churns and works for a few moments, and then just goes away. There is no uninstall of the program.
If anyone can lend assistance that would be great.
Thanks
Sorry, I don't remember the link, but if you look in the Prophet forum, there was a thread on this exact problem.
Several solutions were offered, please use the search.

Hi,
Have had this on the Jasjar as well.
What you need to do is soft reset your device - then uninstall.
When you receive the message "Do you want to remove it from the list of installed programs?"always say no to removing it - as this will remove the log containing the list of files and locations from the original install.
Another note is that if the program you are uninstalling has a today plugin - always uncheck the item first before uninstalling/performing a soft reset to uninstall.
I could be playing a demo of a game and not like it. I then go straight to the remove programs list and i receive the error message....if i leave the device for a while or launch another program i can sometimes uninstall otherwise a soft reset always cures it.
Hope this helps.
Matt
Thanks for the responses. I did use the search function but couldn't find anything appropriate. I'll be more vigilant in my searches.
Thanks for the soft reset advice. I'll check it out as well and report back.
Thanks

I did a reset and still didn't work. I then went the next step and put it in 'safe mode' (SBP Pocket Plus) and still the same problem.
Same here
I have exactly the same issue.
It seems that uninstall doesnt work. It doesnt delete the files from the file system. Doesnt matter if it is Storage or SD. When you re-install the program, it doesnt install, because there are files already there.
The only thing that helps is manually remove the files from the file system. But that is quite a hassle for every program you de-install.
Is there anybody who knows how to make the uninstall work successfully?

Messages will not be erased after soft reset (WM 6.1)

Hello all. I have an HTC Touch Diamond on Bell. The issue I have is quite annoying. I want to avoid a hard reset as much as possible. Basically, the problem I have is that when I delete messages, they will always reappear after a soft reset. Any messages I received between the last reset message will be deleted once a soft reset is performed. For example, I received a message on May 23rd and messages received after that are not kept once I soft reset. I found users with a similar issue here: http://www.technologyquestions.com/...general/225754-text-messages-wont-delete.html
I have tried everything. Clearing ALL text messages doesn't even work. I clear my messages, wait overnight, then in the morning, soft reset, all the messages have returned. I would appreciate any help that you can give.
PS: It does the same thing with my email. I have 2 new emails in one of my three accounts, which I delete, and then sync again. After a soft reset, they have returned along with all the other text messages. It's very frustrating!
I should also say that I am not using a cooked ROM, I'm using the stock Bell ROM. Anyone have any ideas?
I've heard of this problem before.. and to be honest, i couldn't find a solution other than hard-reseting or replacing the ROM... i'm sorry..
wm reads your pim files everytime it loads.. and apparently you have a problem erasing data from within the file.. no idea why.
wait for a couple of days to see if someone managed to solve this.. if not, i'd hard-reset.
Thank you for your reply. I did a hard reset. I just hope this problem won't return. I really don't want to do a hard reset every 2-3 months!
flash new roms
you will be hard resetting every 2 weeks and finding out how much better your phone can be
try out the new microsoft my phone software you can sync over the network so you dont lose anything when you hard reset

I flashed a cooked ROM in the past and I didn't like it at all. The time stamps on messages were way off and even when changing the time manually it would switch back.
And thanks for the MyPhone suggestion. I've been using it since April and has worked pretty good so far. I also used Dashwire which worked nicely as well.
cooked ROMs in this forum are usually fantastic. you probably just stumbled upon a sucky one. I always suggest cooked ROMs as they are faster and more useful than the official ones (to be honest, i wouldn't be surprised if HTC actually assume their official ROMs will only be used for reference applications and system packages)...
also, ALWAYS backup your data. ALWAYS!
you can use PIMBackup2.8 to backup messages/recent calls/appointments/tasks.... and SPB Backup/Sprite Backup/Resco Backup...to backup you system.
dont soft reset hold the power button until the popup appears then press yes... worked for me
If you soft-reset just in few seconds after deleting mesages, they'll appear again. They'll also appear again if you don't let time to write again the registry.
For soft-resetting, better use an app to do this, slowly. If not, take your time to power off after some minutes. Remember the message "everything you did not save will be lost" and apply it for the fact you deleted the messages but this deletion was not "saved" yet if you don't take you time.
As I stated earlier, I even waited overnight to reset, and have done it by holding down the power buttion. They would still come back. Something was corrupt and only a hard reset would fix it.
Regarding the cooked ROM, I used MightyROM before and it gave me issues.

Some application cannot access network

Hi all,
I have got a really weird problem. Some application, such as QuickGPS, Youtube (Google's app), SPB TV, Windows Live Messenger Mobile can't access the network. Some other apps are not affected, such as Internet Explorer, Opera 8.65.
I don't want to reinstall everything since it takes quite long. I think I probably modified registry or installed some stuff and that has caused the problem. I can't figure out what I have done wrong.
Any ideas?
wifi ?
gprs ?
I would look how the settings were set in settings->connections-Connections-advanced-select network
and try changing them
Wifi and Activesync, Windows Mobile 6.1. The top box in that tab is set to the Internet, the bottom box is set to the work network. I tried to change them, it didn't help. Now Google Map doesn't work neither.
It says:
Error: wininetHTTPError [0 2]
A soft-reset does solve the problem, but I have to reinstall all my apps...I am very reluctant to do that.

Soft-reset does not delete any installation. I've done many times. But you probably meant to say hard-reset instead!

Sorry that's what I meant. I think I am going to go for a hard reset later on, if nobody finds a solution.

I need to Factory reset my Arrive, How do I make a backup?

So I am having issues relating to Bluetooth and car stereos and both Kenwood, HTC and Microsoft want me to Factory reset the phone. I would rather not have to reload all my crap and lose my texts. Is there a way to do this or not? Also is there a way to even factory reset the phone to the shipped O.S. When I did it when I first got this phone it just rolled it back to a clean version of the current O.S.
If you do want to know what my problem is with Bluetooth I will explain. This is my second Arrive, the first one paired with the radio fine and would do every function it was supposed to on all sources. The second unit is not doing any incoming Bluetooth text functions on the SiriusXM or HD/FM radio sources.

If you have a Zune-Backup restore it without Hardreset your Phone.
After a Hardreset all Backups made before are useless, you cannot restore them.
If you cannot fix your Problem by Zune-Restore you can do a Hardreset as last Option.
After that you can reinstall your Apps with Reinstaller.
So only your SMS, Mails and Mailaccounts are gone. But it should be easy to setup the Mailaccounts. I heard that SMS an Mails can be saved to, but i cannot tell you how to to. Please do a Googlesearch for this.
No Zune backup because the first and second phone came after Mango so as as soon as I plugged it into the PC the software updated with nothing in the phones yet.
Sent from my T7575 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Hello,
So you have no Choice.
Backup SMS is possible only on unlocked Devices, so all you can do is to Backup it with Copy & Paste Piece for Piece to a Word Doc and Upload it to Skydrive.

Massive app crashes, phone unusable

Hi,
My girlfriend has the moto g and since this morning it's unusable: every second comes a crash message that a app fc. All apps belonging to Google (YouTube, calendar...) are crashing and especially the launcher. It's just possible to go to settings via quick toggles. But I can't delete any data etc from apps. And it won't accept any changes to any settings. I can't open any app because the launcher doesn't work...
The problem: it's an unrooted, totally stock phone with just a few apps (whatsapp, chronus...) . Now I wanted to ask if anyone can help and maybe knows this problem and how to fix it. And: I can't connect it to the PC (win7). Anyone has a link and a description to install the USB drivers? I tried all the "normal" ways with Motorola device manager and manually install USB drivers. I want to backup the messages and pictures before I try a factory reset. I rebooted it in secure mode, but all the problems still exist...
I hope anyone can help... Thanks in advance!
I want the moderator to ban me.

If it always crashes how would you be able to back up SMS and picture? Try to go to the store you bought your phone or call your tech support. But if nothing happens you just need to factory reset your phone.

If it connects to the pc, you can easily make a backup of these things. The Problem is that it doesn't connect because i have problems finding the correct usb driver.

Already tried a factory reset - doesn't work. Can't even boot into recovery... Now it's sent back to Motorola I would love to know what happened there on a complete stock phone with just a very few apps and just used for messaging, calls and photos. I hope Motorola says what went wrong when the phone is repaired.
Try to uninstal apps and try instal again.Maybe not completed installed before.
My girlfriends phone started doing the exact same thing this morning, what was the outcome? Did they replace the phone?
