Have you tried using HTC Home Customizer to obtain this effect?
Need HTC customizer
dharvey4651 where can I get the HTC customizer, I tried the link in the Blackdiamond thread but it does not work. Thanks
htc home customizer..
yes i tried the customizer.. but it only shows htc audio manager and windows media player..
i have core player and morthplayer and both of them don't show up...
Hmmm... Have you checked the registry and played around with that? It might be possible to change the default Media Player through the registry
registry edit
well i am not very familiar with the registry.. however i learned from one of the threads that i could change the string value on the registry to change default player.. but only 0 and 1 makes a difference again switching from audio manager to windows media player... tried other digits.. but don't seem to work..
please help me!!
the commands and paths calling the media player application is embedded within the mediahub.exe (the file responsible for the media face of cube and calling the media player from the plugin)..
unless you decompile the exe and hexedit the values/path.. you will be stuck with Audio manager or WMP...
there's a walk around though.. look for VJbrisk (google it: try VJBrisk vijay555 as querry).. rename the installed EXE as AudioManager.exe then copy-paste it on the \Windows Directory (don't forget to rename the original AudioManager.exe in the windows directory before pasting).. then grab a shortcut of CorePlayer or MortPlayer, rename it as target.lnk and paste it in the \windows directory..
that's the hard way to do it..

no.. only launch the coreplayer (or any other app).. but playback control is not possible (Coreplayer doesn't handle command line controls)..
What about Mortplayer, will this method work with it?
I have Att Fuze(touch pro)
with Coreplayer where i can use the Pad to click forward on movie Videos
like a que forward while watching movies
Was wondering can we Set it on Volume to forward Video ?
Cos will get a phone which doesnt have the Dpad
Conduits Pocket Player Support
In case anybody still wanted to pursue this...
I just bought a HBH-DS205 BT-headset, and was wondering if I can set it to, when pressing play/pause button it starts something else than windows media player, because it doesn't start the music there I'm not using TF anymore, but spb mobile shell, and since that it just opens windows media player. While in TF3D the music began at once... so I was wondering if I can make it start coreplayer instead? (which I believe has an autostart music on launch-function)
No one that has any clue how to remap the buttons on the headset? I've tried the keyboard config found somewhere here, but it is unable to capture the BT buttons i just want another software than wmp
I don't think its the button you need to remap, but the program used to play whatever music file you're playing. If you change the file association (I would use Resco Explorer, but maybe Total Commander would work as well) to use Coreplayer instead of WMP ???

wish it was that easy. I've tried that, with no luck. It still opens wmp could it be something with my BT headset? Perhaps I should just return it... useless if one cant remap the buttons
All,
I've searched the forums and I've seen that people are asking how to exclude certain folders from the search path of the htc music engine. While this approach may work for some, it doesn't work for me, because I would have to know all the folders where music is stored to exclude them, and that can be a pain if you have several programs installed on your device.
What I've been trying to do is I've been trying to find out how to restrict or "force" the htc engine to search for music in one folder that I can configure and only in that folder. I save all my music to
\Stogare Card\Music\
But i have audio books in \Storage Card\My Documents\My Books\Audiobooks\
and when i go to the music tab, it tries to play my books (very annoying) and also, it plays the system sounds from the \Windows folder and any other sounds that it finds from the \Program Files\ folder, etc...
Does anyone have any idea how to tell the player to ONLY scan the \Storage Card\Music\ folder for music?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!

Dunno about Sense Music Player (I stay away from HTC bloatware and only use third party or MS apps), but some decent 3rd party media players that allow for excluding dirs when building up their library. See the "Library scanning: ex/including folders?" row in the chart in my dedicated article at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=415063
btw, my article has a lot of other goodies you may find extremely useful

I've tried using third party players (TCPMP, Nitrogen, Mortplayer) but i can't control any of those with the forward/back buttons on the HD2 hands free, and when I lock the phone with the end key to put it in my pocket, the only player that keeps playing music is the Sense Music Player, all the others stop playing and i have to unlock the phone and hit play again.
Also, with Sense Music Player, I can be reading something on the internet, or using my GPS and I can still change songs without having to go to the music tab or switching applications by simply using the forward/back buttons on my hands free, so i prefer to skip the files i don't want to listen to (little annoyance) to having to switch applications or to not being able to lock the phone (big annoyance)
So in my opinion, the only thing that the Sense Music player is missing to be perfect is the ability to tell it which folders to scan for music, like Mortplayer does, for instance.
I use mortplayer for audiobooks, the ability to add bookmarks to mp3 audiobooks is great, no other player can do that as far as i know. (there is Overdrive Media Console, but you have to use THEIR audiobooks)
thanks for your reply, though... as i said, all help is appreciated.

btw, as far as button assignment problems are concerned, did you try third-party tools? see my dedicated article at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=337602
Create a file named .nomedia in the directory in which you don't want them to show up. This works on Android, not sure what OS you're using.
Edit: You're using sense. It will work. Worked for me anyways. I have "Better Keyboard" installed and it stores all sounds on SD Card so I created .nomedia and viola, it's all gone from my music player. File needs to be blank, just needs to be named .nomedia.
Another edit: I guess you're not android. I thought you were talking about Android Sense. I'm sorry, but I can't help on this matter. Very sorry. However, if you ever get Android, there's a trick for you.
will check this out and see what I can do with it.

Tried it, but windows doesn't let you create a file with only an extension and no file name... it would have been great if it had worked! There's got to be a registry setting somewhere! if only somebody knew it and shared it!
thank you for your help, though! I appreciate it!

One workaround i found is making a playlist with all the songs on the device and skip all other audio files, but this is annoying and takes a lot of time...
try using A_C S2P AND S2U2
S2P will only detect play/pause. It will not detect track forward/backwards.
iam also looking for this solution on my omnia 2 with sense 2.5, went to the registry with no luck
Another option is to hide all folders you don't want SENSE to scan. Read more here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5504259
I have the same problem... I can't believe HTC didn't think about this issue!
In old version of windows mobile a dummy "ignore_my_docs" file use to do the trick.
Don't know if it is still effective in wm6 or if it works with the sense media player....
+1 i have the same question
The .nomedia works
This is what I did, I followed the advise of the .nomedia, but since windows does not allow a nameless file I created a "a.nomedia" and pasted into the folder I wanted to exclude.
Then with ES File Explorer in the phone I did a rename and removed the "a". It worked like a charm!! Now I can use HTC Sense Music and no third party.
.
Thread moved to Q&A due to it being a question. Would advise you to read forum rules and post in correct section.
The .nomedia worked however how do i remove it if I wanted to?
Hidden file?
Es file explore doesn't find it
When I connect my HTC Desire S to my car's bluetooth, it starts playing music immediately from the default htc media player. However I installed Winamp onto the phone and wish to use that as the default instead. How can I change it to the default?
go to settings-applications-manage applications. find htc music app. clickt it and at the bottom you'll see defaults section, clear that.
next time you open a music file, phone will ask which program, you can select winamp and always use this selection check
I don't see "htc music app"; the closest thing in my list is "HTC Media Uploader" which doesn't seem right. Can anyone tell me the exact name the app should have on the htc Desire S?
Did you press the all tab?
It won't show in the downloaded section because it's a system app. Not sure if you can clear the defaults on a system app. Give it a try!
My previous phones were a Samsung S2 & S4, and one of the features I found useful, was being able to change the default video player (usually to MX Player). However, on my G7 Power, I can't seem to be able to do this, and there isn't a video player option in the app defaults.
Is there a way of doing this within the OS, or with a 'hack' ?

I can change the default player to VLC or x-ploer without any issue.
There is an option when you first time open a video file let you choose which program to play it as default

I don't get that option on my G7. If I go into Files, and pick a video, it just opens with the default player; to open it with another video player, I have to select a video and then go to the three dots at the top, and choose Open with.
I have tried resetting the default apps, but that didn't give me the option of picking a default video player, it just stopped half my apps working, as they lost their permissions

From app management to clear the default app , you are ready to go.
It was because you already selected the default player at the first run (or you didn't have the second player installed at the first run), so you won't see the option again until you clear the default
Here my moto G7 power, it still has option to choose which player can be chosenView attachment 5046801
Unfortunately I can't see your attachment, if I click on the link, I just get the message "Invalid Attachment specified"
When I look in Default Apps, I don't have any default apps for video - see attached screenshot

When you installed a second video player, next time to click a compatible video file , you should see the option to choose the player , also there would be a "default" option's check box

I have now tried UPlayer & Xplayer, and clicked on a mp4 file in my downloads (in Files app), and it still always open the default video player. I tried granting one access permission beforehand, but that didn't help. There is still no video player showing in default apps either. I can't find any reference to the default/stock video player in the apps list or recent apps, so I can't even disable it, maybe it is part of the files app?

Were you ever able to solve this issue? I'm having the same problem with my G7 Plus. Even if I remove/disable all the apps in the "Open With" menu, something else is still always opening videos by default.
