Is there a way to update my touch cruise with the latest version of Windows Mobie, which was released on 1st April ?
Officially, no, not until HTC customizes WM6.1 for our devices.
Unofficially, yes, check out the Upgrades section of the Polaris forum. Many have customized it for our devices already. Just be sure to read all the directions and understand the process before doing an unofficial upgrade.
Read some threads in the, well, "Polaris Upgrading"..
Hi all. I was wondering wether this unofficial ROMs are legal or not. I mean, distributing on e-mule a customized version of Windows XP would be illegal, but with Windows Mobile it may be different. The emulator for Windows is free, for example. So?
Thank you
M$ wanted to shut down XDA-DEV... i guess this answers your question...
Ok, thank you.
By the way, I think that uncle Bill would love to shut down many other legal sites... say, for example, www.ubuntu.com, or www.apple.com...
Sure they do... but those only mess up the market, we correct their products
HTC releases WM6.1 Upgrade for Touch Cruise
After update my Touch Cruise to Windows Mobile 6.1, I have noticed that ActiveSync is always running, even after close it. I have an Outlook Exchange account configured but the sync schedule is set to manual. I’ve read some forums and some people suggested to uncheck the automatic time zone in the phone settings, but this is not working also. This don't happen with WM6, before upgrade. Someone have this problem?

ActiveSync should always be running, it is possible that it was set up not to be shown in the WM6 HTC App manager exclusion list.

There was no 6.1 upgrade released on the date quoted. Recent one floating on the first page of 'Polaris upgrading' threads. Check them and upgrade your device.
HTC has released 6.1 for the touch cruise. you can get it from there site.
The device I currently have does not have a good build(I think there is one but its terrible) at this point and time. So if I have wm6.1 you think it is possible to install wmp 6.5 on my device with out any issues? If so can someone please provide a cab for it.
roms are never in the form of cabs
roms have to be specially made for a device to work look in the wiki or the forum
of your device if one of the early beta roms of 6.5 is available for your device
Hello to everyone.
I starting cooking by myself and I need to summarize some knowledge, which I got all over xda forums. Now I know, how to dump/convert/add/remove, etc., but only within one device type. That leads to my question. How is actually made upgrade of OS between different devices? For example (it is meant in general) I have Vox device with WM6.0. Then I dump MS smartphone emulator image with WM 6.1. What is actually needed to add to 6.1 dumped ROM to make it working with Vox device?
I am guessing some drivers or something like this (maybe SYS?), but I know nothing about this so maybe some of you can point me to some directions.
Thanks for all your advices.
Hey guys,
I was wondering if there is anyway to change my OS from WM 6.1 to the new Android 2.0 OS. If you can give me any in site on how to do this i would greatly appreciate it thanks.
In some devices you can run android on top of wm. But some functionalities don't work yet. Go to your device's subforum and search if someone started the port process.
Check for a forum for my device and there is one so i just posted the same question in the smartphone general forum. I dont want to run android on top of WM i want to completely change from wm to android.

That requires a new phone.
I had a look at Android first by running it on my HTC Diamond but it is incomplete. I liked what I saw so went out and got an Android phone.
Android is loaded by running a utility called Haret which somehow manages to reboot the phone into Android replacing WM. When you reboot again it goes back to WM. Without knowing which phone ou have it's impossible to know if that is possible for you to do. Look at the Wiki section of this site specifically for your device.
i am running a samsung i910 omnia from verizon wireless. I like windows mobile but i love the android system. The wm allows you to use more technical stuff where as android is more fun.

Hello,
I have a Htc Fuze p4600 with carrier At__ . ( You know who)
I was wondering if anyone knows how to download the lastest and greatest OS 6.5 on my devise ? Ive been to to the Htc website and my carriers website and cannot find an upgrade for it , any help would be mostly appreciated, and Is there a possibility for WM7 for this devise as thanks
Mr.nobody
Officially, Touch Pros' & Fuzes' don't support Windows Mobile 6.5, but several modern custom ROMs have flawless Windows Mobile 6.5 builds, along with extras. Just peek through the Touch Pro/Fuze ROM Development fora, you'll find several custom ROMs: TAEL, Energy, etc.
I recommend starting here --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448008
Agent Zach is right in that there is no carrier or OEM upgrade to 6.5 and his recommendations are spot on. As to the question about Windows Phone 7 I can guarantee you there will not be an OEM or carrier upgrade to this platform. It's further unlikely to see custom or cooked ROMs for the touch pro / fuze for WP7 as the core OS is designed around much more stringent hardware requirements that our device does not meet.
