Disable word-completion - Touch Cruise General

Hello,
My HTC Touch Cruise was updated with the official HTC WM6.1.
I did not install any language or T9 ad-ons.
Until now I did not succeed in swithcing off (disable) the word completion feature.
I tried disabling everything in all keyboard settings.
There are some threads on this forum concerning this topic, but none of them has the solution for this.
Thanks for your help.
Arnie

you want to disable xt9? i did a search regarding that couple of days ago. theres 2 solutions for that, 1 is a cab file and the other one is via registry tweak.

Hello, thanks for your reply.
I'm not sure whether xt9 and Word-Completion is the same.
I use allways the Keyboard for typing and I don't like the software choosing a word when I press on space.
But please give me the links so I can check whether that will work.
Thanks for all help.

try this cab file found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=376649
or go to start/settings/input/input method(keyboard, block recognizer, letter recognizer, touch keyboard, touch keypad, transcriber)
then when you ex. choose touch keyboard options box will come out, click on it then xt9 settings box will appear, click on it then uncheck everything..... but i just remembered a friend of mine who also has this same problem on her polaris did this and it didnt work. i think i gave her the cab file that can be found on the link above to try. but i have no feedback from her yet.

Thanks.
I installed CAB. Now Word completion is disabled.
I totally do not understand what that CAB does.
But for the moment I'm happy with it.
Thanks again.

hey, i thought you all should know... i found this somewhere online and it worked for me without installing the cab
Start > Settings > Personal Tab > Input > Input Method Tab > Select Full QWERTY > Options > T9 Settings > Uncheck ALL
also do this,
Go to:
Start > Settings > Personal Tab > Input > Word Completion > Uncheck ALL
there's one final step... open a new text message or email, hit the keyboard arrow at the bottom of the screen to select a different input method, choose full QWERTY, move the slider at the bottom that is default T9 to ABC
hope this helps... i've fought with this for too long!

Thanks for this post.
Y.

Tweaking Asus P525's T9 default input to Abc

does somebody here know how to tweak the registry to make the T9 input of Asus P525 default to 'Abc' instead of 'T9 English' ?
and also, how to make the T9 as default SIP after a soft reset instead of the keyboard?
bumping up
In the download area of Asus there's a small tool that sounds like it does something like that. Sadly direct links aren't possible. You can find it by pressing "Download" in the upper menu of www.asus.com, selecting PDA/PDA/P525 + press Search, then click on "Utilities". Now there's a "T9 Disable and Enable Utility".
I haven't checked it myself yet...
btw: Do NOT install the firmware update that's on the same page, unless you've got or want a french device...

Don't now the registry entry right now, but you can always activate the T9 input by pressing the * key for some seconds.
i know the T9 Disable tool you're talking about and I know how to activate it. but right after activating the T9, you still have 4 options:
T9 English - predictive text input for English language
123 - for entering numbers
Symbols - for entering symbols
Abc - for entering words other than English.
whenever i'm going to type something, like SMS or notes, the T9 always defaults to T9 English. what i want is for it to default to Abc.
i hope somebody here can help me find the registry entry for this.
thanks in advance.
hi boybi,
did u managed to find out how to do it? let me know if you already have the answer. thanks.

haven't tried it yet...

I want original WM Keyboard back !

Hi all,
Do you know a way to enable back the original WM keyboard ? I really miss it because of the gesture settings for shift, backspace, space and and enter keys!
Or do you know a way to enable gesture settings in HTC keyboard ?
Thank you.
Yes and I want wm Keyboard ... please help !!! THX.
the same problem
about 5 hours in active search and with no results
does anybody knows it is possible to take native kbd files from wm 6.1?
I'm wanting to test some keyboards before I buy, not sure what the original win mo one is like or how to get it, but imagine it would be quite hard.
Can anyone PM me some links to get some keyboards to try, like Resco etc? Sorry for hijacking!
In sk-tools I have seen under "Eingabemethoden" (= should input method or something simelar) that the standard WM keyboards are just deactivated.
So you can give it a try with sk-tools and reactivate whatever you want.
I will not try it for you because so far my HD is running fine and I want to wait with the next hard reste for the next rom ...
Best regards,
dingolino

Thank you dingolino you are right, the keyboard is still there but hidden or may I say quite buried by HTC
I don't have the registered version of skTools so I browsed the web to try to find a way to enable it back :
First I tried to enable it in registery : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4990566&postcount=3
But it wasn't enough ...
So then I tried SIP Change which allows to force to display the keyboard But the little arrow that allows to choose the keyboard still doesn't display the keyboard in the list So for now I have to launch SIP Change each time I want to choose the standard WM Keyboard (which BTW is surprisingly good and finger friendly enough if you enable gestures )
So the last thing I miss is some hack to remove the s*cking uhh I mean HTC "customized" little arrow at the right of the keyboard to display a menu with all the keyboards installed and also the settings for each keyboard. I tried to wander as discussed it the following post : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=482910 but for now I didn't found a solution that works.
So if someone have a solution to disable the "HTC customized little arrow" and replace it by the standard one please share it with us
Cheers,
Nibbler.

how can I add spell checker WM 6.5

I just got a Sprint Touch Pro 2 with Sprint WM 6.5
I can not find spellchecker in SMS texting.
any way to add it?
OK.. so you can turn on xt9 .. it is on virtual keyboard..
with or w/o it (xt9) while texting tap menu (bottom right key) then you should have an option for spell check
Let me know if this helps
thanks
my phone does not have the spell check option as you outlined, it will suggest while using XT9.
I found that if I select "All Messages" and then select the person I want to text to I do have the spell check option. At least that helps a lot!
If I just reply after receiving a text I do not have spell check.

Disable auto correction in mango

is it possible to disable the text auto correction in Mango (OS version: 7661.WP7_5_Trial) ??
it was possible in NoDo but it seems they changed it...
Thanks in advance
Joel
How to disable autocorrection
The autocorrection functions look hidden in Mango B2 but I found the settings after some intense tapping. Open the menu Settings --> System --> keyboard --> press button "typing settings" --> press on the language below the text Keyboard et voila there is the settings page. The settings can only be changed for all the selected languages not individual ones.
Nice catch!

[Q] changing Gingerbread Keyboard to an other one

Does somebody knows how to disable Gingerbread Keyboard?
Ik hate that one.. and if i install some other keyboards, gingerbread wont change!?
Please help?
That's easy to do ! You just have to download a keyboard (for example GO keyboard), then you have to uncheck Touch Input keyboard in your preferences !

Haha sounds easy, but i wont help me
I've got a Custom ROM installed on it.. and normaly you can choose between Keyboards, but of i do CHECK an other keyboard, like GO for example, it wont pop up when i want to type something. And yes, normaly it do works, but this time none of the other keyboards wil activate
I had the same problem before but i found a solution,
I maintain my finger on the screen (where the text is typed) a popup appears and i can chose a tab which is named "Mode de saisie" in french (maybe input mode in english) and then the system ask to me to choose between the different keyboards I installed.
I don't know if you understand me, but if you don't you can ask me some questions
