hello!
Rom PDAcornerultimate dont have 3G, its the reason you dont have problem, i paid for 3G because i work with my phone and if i dont have 3G is not interesting
I had the same problem when i flashed the official HTC 6.1 rom. When I turn the band to gsm only, everything works fine. I have even tried sleuth and duttys rom. doesn't work at all.
So i flash back the official rom and send it for warranty.
Woohooo....new motherboard for me.
Seems that the on board 3g internal antenna had fried.
Now i was hoping for a new lcd.
Just flash back the official HTC rom and see if it works.

What is the problem? my Kaiser is dead?
You are one in a loooooooooooooooooooooong line (myself included) of people to whom this has happened. ROM flashes, radios, SPLs, nothing does the trick. I am considering using something to do a complete wipe of data (ie. FrankenKaiser) in the hopes that maybe there is a screwy memory block that is unaffected by the aforementioned flashes. However, I am putting such a drastic move on hold until the Fuze is released something between soon and the twelfth of never. The day my slimy paws get a hold of my very own Fuze I am gonna torture my Tilt something fierce. Squeal, get ready for it now, squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeal!
If it is, in fact, a fried antenna, one would think that HTC would offer replacements regardless of warranty status to anyone with the same problem, seeing how many people have obviously had the same issue. You'd think it would qualify for a recall. Eh, what am I thinkin'? I just talk silly sumtimes...
i dont have warranty any solution please?
thanks

u're not alone, search the board..a lot of people have the same issue..and isn't a software fault, but hardware...i've read something about fried umts antenna.. htc can cchange the entire MotherB if there's valid warranty...
bye
My kaiser was affected by this, along with lots of others, as mentioned before. Mine was returned to vendor where the antenna and mainboard were replaced, which resolved the problem completely.
hello,
ok thanks for response, i need to replace original rom ( orange france) for return to warranty??
thanks
Strange
I also have this problem, what i dont understand is every now and then i will flash a ROM and the 3G and H will start working, sometime for hours, days but never too long, i don't understand if the antenna is fried or the circuitry is damaged then how can this be ? I bet someday someone finds out what has happened, replacing the board will obviously cure the problem but if there is something we are doing by flashing Radios and Roms then the problem will no doubt re occur, i am one of the unlucky ones who bought my Kaiser on eBay with no hope of a warranty return. I now have a 2G Kaiser, oh yeah, will bad video support, great lol

Hi!
I'm soooooo damn tired facing thousands of radio issues day in and day out
I'm using radio rom 1.15 and i find it extremely buggy . I looked through the forums and noone seems to be complaining, so i wonder if i'm the jinx here :/
The problems i face are -
1. All of a sudden i cant make calls. It throws a notification popup saying "The call has failed". Thanks! The only way out....restarting the radio. And yea, thats a nightmare too....going to comm manager, switching of phone, and switching it back on....the damn thing doesnt work right AT ALL! I switch it off....and push the button again to turn it back on, nothing happens....i push it again and again and again a million times....it gets too painful. So what do i do instead? soft reset
2. My gprs connectivity goes for a toss every now and then. again, the same ordeal....it never connects until i soft reset or restart the radio.
3. The worst part, when the phone module has taken a crap....i.e....reached a state where no calls go thru (refer problem 1.), i cant even receive incoming calls! The person calling me gets a ringing tone, but my phone's a dead corpse here. All messages sent to me are "apparently delivered" but nothing shows up here....
Is it just me?
Is there a better radio rom?
I restart my phone roughly 5 times a day, once in the morning when i wake up WITHOUT FAIL....and all this is getting to me really bad :-/

Well i see you are from Banglore,im from Hyderabad,i have been using the 1.15 radio for ome time now with the pdav latest rom(.09) sometimes my phone acts a little strangely like when receiving a call sometimes the incoming call icon stays there for about 10sec before the screen comes on the call status one.I switched over to radio 1.09 which i found the most stable on my O2 exec, but in my experience radio roms also behave differently depending on location, and also the os system try to use 1.09 as i found it the best for me in India.
Radio versions works differently depending on your location.
Try other radio versions.
Or better yet, just use the radio version that came with your device.
Do not upgrade your radio unless your having problems with it.
Like our friend here at xda-developers said, "If it's not broken, don't fix it."

Radio Rom?
If you are still having issues, also post back your OS Rom that you are running, this may also have some bearing on the underlying issues.
Cheers,
Beast
Using radio 1.15:
With Ivan's base it causes my device to experience problems with the phone and GPRS\3G
With Midget's base everything seems to work fine
(btw I have an O2 Exec - Just suggesting that it may be the differences in hardware...)
dreamtheater39:
Same problem here.... Since I (sim) unlocked my MDA-Pro I'm experiencing EXACTLY the same problems as you have.
I posted several items on this forum, no success till now.
I'm thinking of reassembeling my old MDA-Pro, which is sim locked but screen broken. replacing the screen with my new (sim) unlocked MDA-Pro and see if the radio problem is still there. Just to exclude if the problem can be (sim) unlocking the phone...
But it is VERY anoying, I must agree...
regards
arjan
Also,.. I've tried almoast every Radio rom!! still no success.. even te Original T-Mobile rom (ROm and radio) give me problems...
So can it be the Sim unlocking (V1 by Buzzdev)?

Hi,
I doubt it is the SIm unlock.
I used Buzz's too, originally many Rom flashes past that.
I have Exec with Radio 15 and customised Rom with Midgets as base and no issues at all.
I would advise finding out what the latest Radio Ver offered by Manufac for your model and try that one for a bit.
Perhaps we should start a poll as to what each user is using and record Radio and OS Rom info with a comments section for any issues noted. It would at least help stablise WM6 builds.

Beast
That damn radio issue!
I think it is time to stop discussing whether there is an issue and start looking for a fix!
First off: basically all HTC-phones have had a similar probblem, going back to the MDA 2. The key problem has been, that the data connection does not properly switch between mobile cells when you are on the move.
My device loses data connection every time I go into the parking garage, where there is no reception. Also, when I'm sitting in an area with very poor UMTS-coverage, the MDA-PRO loses connection after a few successful switches to GPRS. BTW: You can see you have a problem when Active Sync on the MDA says "Waiting for Network".
This wasn't such an issue as long as we didn't have the data connection constantly on. But, latest with the MS-Pushmail this has changed - the data connection is always on.
HTC and the operators have seemingly been working on this issue for quite some time. The only ROM on the MDA-PRO that was quite stable on this was actually the last T-Mobile WM-5 ROM.
With WM6 we are back to the issue. I no longer believe it is a problem with the Radio-ROM. Most likely is that there are differences in the driver dll. THis might explain why Midget's ROM seems to be better than IVAN's.
So, guys start troubleshooting!
Yes dreamtheater, are you running WM6? It is WM6 that seems to display these problems, regardless of the Radio. If I roll back to the official T-Mobile Rom (WM5) or Orange Rom (WM5) my problems disappear
HA!
Finally some usefull information. But very strange, buying a very expensive devise, but not being able to make a proper phonecall with it....
a.
YIPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I installed Radio 1.09 and so far sooooooooooo good!!!! None of the issues i mentioned, it works like a charm!!!
The only noticable issue i've found a couple times is, the gprs automatically disconnects once in a while, but i can ask it to reconnect and it does so without a fuss! Wowwwweeee!!!!
A BIGGG thanks to Arvind09 for this!!!!
So guys, i guess you got to try all radio roms and find which one works best for you, no other go as i see it
Cheers!

OH CRAP!!!!!!!!! I SPOKE TOOOOO SOON
Woke up early morning and the damn things crapped again :-/

If you tried different Radio Version and still does not work, it is time you change a service provider, provided you are sure that your hardware never had problems before.
Bangalore is a big city, coverage should be good, could it be the part of area you are in has bad coverage, try asking you friends about service provider other than your current one in that particular area.
If changing provider still does not work, make a complaint to the providers, it nothing improves, its time you need to move somewhere else.
I have the same issue when I keep the Radio Band in Auto mode (GSM/3G) I change my phone to GSM and it is better.
Ye, I did the same too. only switch manually to 3G when needed. I almost forgot about this point.
Furthermore, GSM mode makes the battery last more days than 3G mode.
encountered the same probs, 4 me radio 1.12 is the most stable one (I believe it's an exotic/not commonly used version)
I have been struggeling with this since the first WM6 Pre-release ROM came out on this forum. Tried all the radio ROMs available, without succes. As said, the only ROM that does not suffer from this, is the latest WM5 ROM.

Ok could you tell me which provider are subscribed to? I use Airtel and hutch on both my pocket pc(universal and orbit)Ive noticed that airtel tends to loose its signal whereas hutch has never given me a problem.for this reason i use hutch on the Uni,though i cannot say that im very happy with their service, they are any day much better tha Airtel and Idea both. Also try to change the rom and see if the problem still persists.
I know, I'm supposed to search but I wasn't getting anywhere....
My device (Originally AT&T Tilt)
Now running Dutty WM6.1 WWE 4/29/08 (phone suggests.)
Radio 1.64.08.21
Location NYC
ISSUES:
Internet waaaaaaaay too slow. Never had a problem before.
The 3G (square box) is present and 3g over signal.
Signal- I average 2 to 3 bars TOPS
prior it used to be full
Can someone suggest anything?! Downloading Cab files is slow and or it freezes. My Youtubeplayer.cab doesn't even work anymore because of this problem.
Also...prior to using the Rom..my phone hates the Hollywood/ Beverly Hills area which is my second home.
Thanks in advance.

Just thought of something else... why does my touch keyboard and touch keypad stop working after about 10 times?
What's going on??????? I love the Rom but damn too many problems with my device.

1st put on some flame retardant, 2nd you should try duttys thread, not start a new one, how long have you been running this rom, did you hard reset after the first flash, have you tried to reflash, have you tried a different radio, radios make a huge difference base on location, many radio threads out there, and last if it has to many bugs try another rom, i have used this rom and i love it.

Minus the rudeness, you actually helped because I didn't know if it was the rom or radio. And for the record I did search for my specific problem using keywords. I'll try changing the radio because I can connect to the internet..its just edge is faster than my dumb phone. If all else fails, Ill sell the crap.

He wasn't being rude, you should post this in the thread for dutty's rom. My guess normally would be that you don't have 3G turned on, rather than a radio or a rom issue, as i remember several of dutty's roms do not have 3g enabled by default. bit apparently you're getting a 3G signal. Have you tried other roms to be sure it's somethign rom specific and not your network? In the future post your questions in the appropriate thread to TRY to reduce the clutter in the forum. Also, it is the xda policy, so there's another reason to do it.

No use.....I am having a Prepaid Connection and huge problem...losing business......
I am shifting to Voda in Delhi.....
Where are you and whose yr Operator ???
even in bangalore i face the same problem..

I'm facing different problem. As you all are in India, I'd like to ask are you facing this problem or ever faced...

About Airtel:
It seems airtel network is very confusing for HTC vox. I also use this sometimes it works properly sometimes its annoying. I've tried almost all radios. But the version I suggested above is quite good. But it seems sms and internet data is not flowing properly with this radio. I'm thinking to switch to vodafone again. Any suggestion about vodafone or Idea network.
Thanks
have no idea regarding the Idea n/w but vodafone works fine.
guys.....
my phone must be having a Hardware issue.....as after relying on the "so called 99% Solution of mine".....
I continued to have problems....
I have DUMPED the phone for now and bought Samsung.....
HTC service providors----salora..refused to repair the phone and decided that the "Main PCB" needed to be replaced ...as this is what they do for all HTC Phones...... and asked for 9000.00 Bux or about USD180....first I thought they were kidding but what the hell.....went ahead and bought Samsung....
I will continue to finger the phone and try as and when I get time different solutions and let you know if something really turs up......
Request to all the "LEARNED" in the forum...... please give your inputs for a complete solution.....
BTW..just remembered...that once while Flashing the ROM I got an error but I reboted the Phone and it Flashed the ROM fine.... after this I have flashed the ROM 3-4 times all were fine......but if that Error had anything to do with Call Drop.. ??????
Any input by the "Learned" will be highly appreciated.....
Also any other Solution will also be higly appreciated....

Hi everyone..
I use Vox with Airtel prepaid in India..
My phone is one year old now.. still under warranty..
I am facing a serious problem with calls as many incoming calls are not being notified on the phone.. though the caller says that he hears the call ringing..
This way i'm losing many calls..
There is a Thread in the forum about this problem but nobody came up with a good solution..
They said in that Thread that only thing that might work may be radio version change..
Now my questions-
1. Does anyone have a better solution to the call drop problem?
2. I am using the original ROM that came with the phone.. so can i change radio without affecting the original ROM.. will i lose my warranty?
3. Where can i get the latest radio?
4. Whats the procedure to change it?
THANKS EVERYONE.. AWAITING REPLY
lots of the radio roms can be found on xda ftp
you wont loose any data (but be sure your phone is fully charged!)
i dont know about warranty^^
its same prcedure like flashing a normal rom!
maybe uspl (first threat) is nessecary this coudl cause loose of waranty!
So you are the guy who has shown us the way for surfing via Airtel NOP. Thanks for that. And using UCWEB 6.3 java browser may allow you to remove NOP download limitation.
Now about your query. I think there is nothing regarding radio ver for India. I think the latest ver is 4.1.13.60 which I am using at present. By default my VOX came with previous ver 4.1.13.54. I have also tried the 4.1.13.47. All three are good and I could not notice any significant difference amongst them. All are available for download _ see wiki.
Reagarding flashing - the process is same as flashing OS ROMS and it shouldnot affect your installed apps - but then keeping a backup is always good. It will need unlocking your phone and also doing USPL which will void the warranty. But I dont think thats a problem. If anything goes wromg reflashing with shipped ROM should solve the problem before taking it to service centre.
One more thing when there is a question of warranty why not flash with original shipped ROM - I think it will not require unlocking and doing USPL. In the process your phone may also get rectified.
Try this solution!

hi there. i had a similar problem. what software and third party programs r u running? sometimes when the base memory dips below say 8 mb, this can happen bcos a program called connmgr.exe gets disabled. so what happens is, the call is completed, but u cant either pick up the phone while ringing,. at best it shows up as a missed call notification. i dont think this is an issue with ur radio at all. my advice is, shut down most running programs. use a hibernate function that is available on software such as smart toolkit ( or sk tools lite ). this should solve ur problem. if not, pm me with a list of whatever 3rd party software u have.
Have you tried hard reset? A lot of times, some or the other intalled application causes problems, a hard reset cleans up such mess, but cleans up all your data and app from the phone memory as well .
what is ur radio version by the way? mines a pretty old one, and works perfectly ok. as addicted2xda says, try a hard reset if u have no other choice. im convincedthat it is an issue f free memory only. happened to me lots of times...have changed my rom now to fireburned's lite rom. seems to be pretty good so far!
Bro...
If you are on Airtel Pre Paid...this will continue to haunt you........ try as many ROM's and Radio Versions....... NO USE
I faced the same problem with Airtel Pre Paid in New Delhi..... I have tried all the Radio Versions available on the Net and as many as I could lay my hands on from elsewhere
Ultimate Solution.........
DUMPED the VOX till the time I am on Airtel Pre Paid and bought a Samsung......
Neither Airtel nor HTC Service Center has any solution to the problem..... Though HTC Service Center guys are dumbest ass**** you will ever find....
This problem was raised by me ages back in this forum and modaco.... was suggested some solutions but nothing works......
the choice was either continue to loose business or change the Handset..... I chose the latter....
best of luck
BTW if you find any solution....lemme know too
hey i was on airtel prepaid in madras, had no problems whatsoever. the great bsnl gave me hell earlier. but i had another handset then. dont be in a hurry to dump ur phone....just try it out. i dont know abt the signal quality in delhi though. on roaming it was pretty ok to me
else change over to postpaid. seems to make quite a difference. they do have a few good schemes. the postpaid scheme is supposed to come with a 64 k sim card which is faster and seems to have better signal reception. maybe that'll solve ur problem.
Hi...
I was never in hurry to dump the phone as I have been a HTC user thru'out....starting with SPV aka Canary...and so on....
I even changed the SIM to 64K ...
Tried every conceivable solution...... scanned the Phone for virus/ worms, tried all ROM furnished by the Learned here in the Forum.... Tried the Shipped WWE ROM with the original Radio version.....Tried all Radio versions including the Arabic Radio, Shipped Radio versions....
but the result was the same...
as for the signal quality..... am at same office and same factory as I was when I was using Canary, or other HTC phones and now Samsung.... so wudnt blame signal strength or location for the issue...
again.... if you find a solution lemme know too as the VOX is being used as her play mobile by my 7 yr old daughter at the moment.
thanxxx
BTW... try the Bluetooth Registry patch from HTC site and see if it helps your cause...because HTC claims that if you are using Bluetooth there are chances of Call drop. This is a suggestion from my side as I use Bluetooth Hands Free all the time and tried the Patch on my VOX but still the problem remained .... see if it helps ya out.

mines very old radio and rom. never had this problem, and in madras the signal per se anywhere is lousy. so maybe it isnt an issue with the firmware at all. what rom were u using last? and wht radio version?
Last ROM on my Phone:
Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard (Build 20282.1.3.6) by frauhottelmann
Last Radio Version Tried:
4.1.13.47_02.98.90
RIL Version
2.002
The Signal strength shown on the phone has NO Issues whatsoever....
No other software running on the device other than the ones started by the frau's ROM.... was aware of the fact that some third party softwares could create issues so never bothered loading them unless got the phone working in stable mode for a week or so......
thanxxx
Hey
I am experiencing the following problem with my new Sensation (EU, unbranded, ROM 1.28.401.1, radio 10.42.9007):
From time to time it suddenly loses its signal and the only way to fix it is to disable and enable the radio (flight mode or testing-menu).
Any ideas how to fix/debug this?
I could get a new SIM card or flash the leaked RUU with the newer radio or get a new unit. How should I continue?

Search "Death Grip" and learn how to hold your phone to avoid this problem.
Stinks, but you can get around it.

It's certainly not the death grip problem I meant! I flashed the leaked RUU yesterday evening, until no the problem did not occur again.
Check the networks.. i select GSM only and it works better...

I will definitely try this later, because I been having this problem for a while now, and it only happens when at home!!! and nowhere else!!!
I'll let you know guys!!! wish me luck guyz, cuz if this dosn't work .. ama take to them chines around the corner, and pray they bring back safe!!! ...
I also have this problem and nothing seems to resolve it.
Its certainly not the death grip issue as it happens when the device is sat on a table and not moved, can change from 3 bars to no signal and back again.
I however dont have to disable the radios though as it just comes back on its own.
I always have mine set to GSM only due to the intermittant 3G in my area so its alos not that either.
This never used to happen to either my magic, Desire or Desire S, or any other phone ive had recently for that matter, very, very annoying.
Upgrade your RUU.
1.35.401.1 has fixed this for me - no sleep problems, WiFi connects a HELL of a lot faster, and temproot still works
(I have (and have had) no touchscreen issues)
I have exactly the same problem as dndxn
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA Premium App
Same problem here.
t-mobile US.
Also, it has happend on 2G and 4G.
Hoping for a update soon.
So far flashing the newest leaked RUU fixed it for me. But flashing also included a full wipe, so doing one might also help.
Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, .... it worked!!!!!!!!
I changed the Network setting to GSM only and now I have my network signal back ...!!!! full bars!!!
is there anyway to guide others having the same problem to this thread???
Thanks guys ....
