cus ive installed tom tom and garmin and they both cant pick up a gps signal ?

Um no. Read more, but it could be? What device do you have (what network)? You need to go outside to get GPS signal. Maybe it's not detecting a signal. etc....

Vodafone TP no GPS

Have just got my TP on Vodafone UK, it does not have GPS enabled, is there any way I can enable it
What do you mean? There is no GPS in Start -> Settings?
Anyway try this "must have" tool from schaps so you can manage a lot of settings, GPS included.

IF I load TomTom 6, it can not fin the internal GPS, I can connect to an external GPS via Bluetooth
Sounds to me like you've got the version of tomtom that doesn't have the option of choosing the internal GPS.
Download GPSTest to see whether the GPS is automatically detected.
can i suggest u try gps test n see what that does
also try it with google maps
i think this might be a handset fault tho cant see why it would be disabled as its a selling point
Im 99% sure that TT6 doesnt support internal GPS modules, had the same problem with my N95....or come to think of it was that TT5? Hmmmm im not so sure now lol...
TT6 worked fine on my MDAC3 with internal GPS.
Funnily enough, the Voda specs page makes no mention of GPS at all

have you tried Other NMEA GPS-reciever, baudrate 4800, COM4 already?
NO GPS
Your right vodafone does not show GPS
Have tried it with Google Maps and will try it with GPStest this evening.
Spoke to Vodafone are going to send another handset
have also tried Other NMEA GPS-reciever, baudrate 4800, COM4
I have a Vodafone handset and thought the same as you.
It does have a GPS and it does work with TOMTOM 6.
1. Go to programs and slect quickgps and download.
Then go into tomtom and under showgps satus select configure and choose other NMEA GPS, slect baud rate 57600 and then load a destination.
Make sure you are outside tho and it might take 25 mins to get your first ever fix.
Mine connects within seconds now.
Good luck and let me know if I can help you further.
Could someone post the link to the Tom Tom 6 or 7 cab file for the Touch Pro?
Thanks

The traffic subscription is registered to your account, therefore it will work on version 6 or version 7. However, your maps (6.75?) will not work with tomtom 7, but you can purchase new maps from tomtom home as the touch pro is now recognised by the tomtom home application (version 2.4 or above)

I'm also facing a similar problem. Google Maps is unable to detect the internal gps receiver.
When I run, GPS Test, it just shows the GPS starting up message (with 2 yellow bars, sometimes only one). I have run quick gps and downloaded the satellite data twice already.
Can somebody please help me?

If you mean your GPS device then you should be more specific so members can help you, also if this is the case perhaps this is not the proper section for that question.

No it doesn't have i've used imate Jasjar for nearly 3 years, and it doesn't say in that website... It says GPRS not GPS... and google map can locate your location if you use wifi instead of data... although there is a gps slot in the uni but HTC never installed it...
i-Mate JASJAR RUS communicator GPS, the only communicator, which combines

doesn't make any sence as... they can write what ever they want... but in reality it doesn't have any GPS... i used it for 3 years and now mda-IV for almost a year so i know that very well than the guy who wrote that web page, i bet he doesn't own an UNI... and the website is not reliable like HTC's own site which shows it doesn't have a GPS....

Uni can not work from base station navigation as it lacks some radio function.... well the only way it shows the location is by wifi in google map... it does pin-point your location if you use google map over wifi connection...

I believe the HTC Touch pro (and probably the diamond and Touch HD) does have an internal GPS reciever if I'm not mistaken...
The Univesal doesn't have GPS. The only way to get a GPS signal is to use an external GPS-reciever, I use a bluetooth one. That is the ONLY way GPS is made possible on the Universal

Gps / a- gps

Hi guys,
I have some questions about TG01. I just have bought one TG01 with orange ch. They said me TG01 have GPS and A Gps modules. Before, I had nokia navigator 6710 and I could use its navigation option in offline and it could connect to satellite easily. There are no data transfer and no internet connection so no price.
But now I cant menage to use its gps options in offline mode. In TG01 box, there is a storage card and some codes on it. How can I use it and I want to use TomTom or Garmin or iGO in offline mode. Can I use?
Please explain this questions smoothly because I'm a newbe on this pda. And I dont know any pda language
Thanks a lot.
Tom Tom Navigator is usable with no connection charge depends if you are subscribe to their traffic option or not.
Orange one needs data plan option.
another related question:
Does someone know about german providers blocking com7 port in their branding (to force you to use agps)? I cannot establish any connection to my external gps mouse
chris
if you are useing tomtom you need a program call GPSPLEX if you need it i have it just message cos i can't rem the website

Check the settings in the software, you might have to point it to a specific COM port and baud rate.
For example, on my HD2... if I pull up the HTC GPS tool it shows that the GPS device is actually on COM4 with a Baud Rate of 57600
Still not detecting
Sorry that was TP2 i tried with com4 but still no change. I tried with HTC GPS tool its not able to detect GPS sat. But google is detecting GPS Sat. Scratching my head abt this matter. PLZ someone help me out.

[Q] Need help about GPS/A-GPS on phones

Hi everyone just needed abit of help understanding the difference between GPS/A-GPS
I use a GPS jammer for my work vehicle, and to test the jammer is working i go onto my HTC touch pro2 satnav which uses GPS and the signal wont work whilst the jammer is on
Sadly that phone broke and i now have a HTC mozart that uses windows 7 - when i turn the GPS jammer on the satnav on the mozart still finds signal and doesnt get blocked at all
I was wondering if my GPS jammer is not working anymore, but then i tested it on a friends samsung android phone and the signal gets blocked
can anyone explain this/have a theory of why i can still get satnav on the htc mozart whilst the jammer is on?
please specify

Hi!
3 Questions about situation with mozart.
1. If you move (with mozart and jammer), the stamp from the GPS receiver will move as well or it will stay in one place?
2. If you turn the receiver is turned on after the jammer (jammer is turned on first)? Whether a receiver can correctly identify the location in this case?
3. Are you sure that is working on locating by GPS, and not by the base stations of the cellular operator?

hey thanks for the reply, yo answer your questions -
1. Yes the navigation moves whenever i move
2. Wether i turn the receiver or jammer on first makes no difference, i tried both ways and both times the receiver still finds my position
3. I read into some FAQ's about the navigation programme (orange maps) and apparently it works using something called microsoft location - and i think that works by cellular operators and wifi but i still dont quite understand it tbh
