There is no default Chinese support in WM6 ROM built here. CE-Star is good choice to add Chinese support to WM6. Working good with SimOne and WM6 Brushed. Not working with S.V.I. and WizFlo. Hope this help.

I don't think its problem of CE-Star. If you are using a custom built ROM, the problem might be the ROM. The SimOne & M2D Brushed are working fine with CE-Star.
If you install CESTAR, it will cost u 10M more, that's why I don't like installing it. Still looking for the other ways.

Then reastart,and select "Start Menu--Setting--System--Regional Settings" as "Chinese(People's Republic of China)";
Now,U can install the Chinese font as U like,From"3.39MB to 14.6MB",I prefer to install the one which is 3.39MB called"Chinese_WM5.cab"

So can the chinese fold name and file name display correctly?
I found the easiest way, downloaded one file call Ricky MSYH 6M ChineseSupport v1.1
but if u can read chinese, go to Ricky's website, u will have more choice for u. Try MSYH first, I installed the SIMSUN one, that didn't work.
I have the same problem as you. This is what I figure it out after trying several things.
You need to install a chinese font (*.ttf), so your device can read Chinese characters. This can be sunglobe, yahei or any other you can find here. If you just copy to your "windows" directory in the device and do a soft reset you will be able to read most of the files in Chinese. If you need suppport in all programs, you may need a real tweak also. This means changing some of the reg (HKLM with regedit or similar). Also there are some cab files that do it for you (install the font and do the register changes).
If you also want to write in chinese, you have to install a chinese input program this will allow you to write te character or use pinyin (like A4, PlumSIP or other).
At the end this is what CE Star and other programs do, install fonts and the input program, but also install many other thing you may not need.

You may install "O2 Chinese Plus Fixed" into your device.Then your ppc can display simplified Chinese. It takes about 3M space.
i will try your method when i reach home, every time i install the chinese display software on my wm6.1 (atom exec),will make all the hard buttom lost their function!
why don't you try O2 Chinese Plus Fixed for your WM system

Does the same error come up when you flash with a shipped-rom which hasn't been changed?
Does your device respond to any commands from the update program? If so, what happens on your device?
And what did you change in the rom?
As you probably guessed: I don't know an answer to this & i'm trying to figure out what is different in your setup compared to a regular update.

No dear every thing is OK When I try to update with shiped ROM it works 100% no problem. When I click in my computer the device is located and opens software installs nothing abnormal every thing is as usual, But when I try to update it with special ROM (got from Kichen that I like very much) the folowing masage appears
I guess that romkitchen isn't compatible with magician :-(. You can try to put in the GetDeviceDara.exe from a shipped-rom in the appropriate romkitchen folder, maybe it helps. Cause I love to see this working.

I try to update one of my friends i-mate JAM in a dfrent PC but the same problem I got. I think the rom is not compatible with JAM. Do you know another ROM to work on my JAM like available in Kitchen???
Well I haven't experimented with RomKitchen & don't know what you want to achieve with it. Ext-roms can be edited with bal666's tool too & there are loads of different (not edited) ext-roms @ the ftp.
& of course there's the BIG Storage hack, with which you trade in the ext-rom for an enlarged internal Storage folder.
Haven't seen anyone yet who really edited the CE image :-(

Yes I tried but...
I tried big ROM but in 3rd stage the folowing masage appears "card incilize error" When it tries to back up ROM on SD card. I have MMC not SD Now may be this is cause or somthing other. Have you updated your device with big storage rom & is it OK???

I downloaded the ROM form this site http://www.romkitchen.de I updated one of my friends PPC from this site's Rom its performance is 50% increased. but mine (JAM) is not going to update

Yes it's no problem to use another magician rom, use maupgradeut_noid.exe to bypass country id error. To flash your current shipped-rom back just follow the same procedure.
Be carefull to backup your current ext-rom cabs though, they do contain some operator specific settings for eg gprs, voicemail etc. You need to install some of them instead of the TMO ones present in the TMO 1.13WWE rom. You can use WinCE cabmanager (available on trial) to have a look inside the cabs & decide wich ones to use.

Download Vista Rom, unzip it, connect your mobile to your pc (via ActiveSync), you will find in unziped Vista Rom folder a file named ROMUpdateUtility, open it and follow the steps.Is very simple

I'm using this ROM. The joystick is better with this ROM as it was not with some others. Font is also pretty for displaying Chinese character.
No wifi
I liked this Rom until I discovered that there is no wifi control! Is it just me or is this really missing? Back to the I-Mate rom for my SP5.
What is the camera like on this rom?

Try this to show the WIFI on the Comm Manager...
Use a Registry Editor
HKLM - Software - HTC - CommManager
If there are 6 keys present..
Add a key named 7
Under the 7 key
Create a string named - Default
Value Data is - WLAN
Go to HKLM - Software - HTC - SupportedFunctions - just add 1 to current Value Data..if it's 6 then make it 7.
Wait for half a minute then reboot
You guys have to put NetCompactFrameWork into Storage Card/Program Files/NETcompactFramework/. It is provided by the Cooker in the original ROM as a separate bundle.
Oh sorry I don't know if the guy provided NTFC bundle in the package.

Is it possible to copy the taskmanager app from the faraday rom to this rom, 'cause I cant find the task manager.

The zip file contains LED info from the kitchen posted above. I created the attached cab file using the zip which works on my spl. You will need to app unlock first. Test at your own risk.
Just found the reg values for WMP & IE keys. The WMP & IE keys are much more responsive using the reg fix over AE Button Plus. Worked for mine but use at your own risk.

mhan finally someone replied and gave me these nice fix...thanks mhan...
btw i still encounters some problems with alechy's rom:
1. it always hang when i access storage card thru file explorer and i only have 1gb minisd. i hope theres a fix for this.
2. typing on sms is too slow....could there be any tweak to make it faster or more responsive?
i believe the other roms are better but they are not fully in english.

I sent alechy a pm and email requesting an English version of G4WM6.1 ROM XIP 20202 faster and add SDHC support. alechy's previous 6.1 EN rom has easy to read font and is all English, and his newest CH rom has .net 3.5.
Let us hope alechy finds some time to do this for us.

I have extracted and packed the ezinput files from WWE Asia ROM, which has Chinese input support. I did this in preparation for my custom ROM flash, since most, if not all, of the cooked ROM are based on Europe/UK WWE and therefore the cooked ezinput would not have the Chinese support.
I've yet to try this on any cooked ROM, so if anybody can try and see if this works I would be most appreciated
NOTE: I've taken down the CAB because it's not working so it's back to drawing board for me.

I've been looking for it for a long long time ago...
but i cant find any workable CAB of it.
so thats why i still keep my LEO as default 1.48 ROM..

I can try the newest 2.01 ROM.
I *think* I might have found the problem but I need to flash a custom ROM to test it. If anybody is game to try it on their custom ROM, please pm me your email address and I'll send you the CAB. The reason why I'm not publishing it here is because it might cause you to hard reset your phone if it didn't work out (as happen to one of the 'early adopter' user)

WARNING: uniinstalling this CAB might require your device to be hard reset. I suspect it's because of the default SIP being removed when the CAB is being uninstalled. But I don't have a custom ROM to test, so if you don't mind the risk, I would appreciate your help in testing.

I volunteer to try your cab, and report back soon!
I've tried it, but it didn't work. when inputting sms contact names, no name suggestions available. and the Pin Yin didn't work at all. And when I tried to uninstall and reset the device, the whole device couldn't boot, I was forced to hard reset my HD2.

I tried it on PDAVIET V05 28014
I can call it out but the hand writing does not show the line when you draw on the screen, when using the 筆畫 it just show the E T U D G instead of chinese.
ok so it looks like I really have to use a custom ROM to test myself, as my fear is that the existing registry in the pure english rom conflicts with the CAB.
this will take awhile unless somebody adventurous could trace the original ezinput registry and identify any potential conflict to the chinese input. (but doing so will also mean you will need to hard reset ur device after the troubleshooting)

Thanks for your effort.
Can you create a tutial or CAB for LEO custom ROMs (like Dutty's, Xanny's ......) to add Asia support? (just capable of viewing, not UI localized)
You can try to analyse the cabs from Lingvosoft, as they offer asia input keyboards.
I am using their Japanese Keyboard. This will show up the keyboard.
But the keyboard alone is not enough, you need copy a chinese font from your desktop windows to the windows\fonts folder on your Leo.
Then you will have to change the standard font in HTC manilla or Windows 6.5 if you want to be able to display the characters in the main applications (unless that application offers font selection).
I have attached the Chinese and Japanese keyboard cabs, as well as the Chinese font (ming true type font). Those are from the trial version of their translation suit, but I think the keyboards don't require a license (except for use in the translation application, then they get barred).

sorry to say that my voluntary offer ends there. The problem is if there is a problem, I cannot uninstall it and revert to previous state, and also, worse is, the entire rom couldn't start. I can't take too much trouble to try it unless it can be reverted easily.

settings working when you activate language not over settings, but over keyboard by tap and hold "q"
when i do that... nothing happens, and when I turn swype On, it tells me that this package that i installed is configured for another device and will operate with limited functionality?? what it it about
my swype runs on a custom rom in French (040c) & 24001, I used the packages from the 2.10 rom

as i see this topic is pretty old.
I just want to describe how i made my Swype German.
It's basing on Swype-LordYuz-3.9.10.10.5032.CAB.
Rename the following files in Swype install folder:
SwypeEnglishUS.htm -> SwypeEnglishUS.htm_
SwypeEnglishUS.zdb.le -> SwypeEnglishUS.zdb.le_
or something else..
then:
SwypeGerman.htm -> SwypeEnglishUS.htm
SwypeGerman.zdb.le -> SwypeEnglishUS.zdb.le
Do a Softreset and check if it works.
Even though the settings show EN as language - mine is German and Umlauts work as well
PS.Italian or Spanish people should try it too, the relating files are located in the install folder.

OK but what if one wants to have two or three different languages available. I write a lot in French but need sometimes to send some emails in English ... pressing and holding 'q' does not open any windows with available languages, which is strange as files are available within the installed swype package ...
