Hi guy,
I've an ELF and I've installed the new Opera Mobile 9.51b2. Well, the problem is with the default keyboard ( I think ). In with page that I acess, i have to change the keyboard, for example, if i acess gmail, the first keyboard is the "keyboard" that is not good so i change it to my "PCM keyboard", however, in the next page that i need to write something, it goes the "keyboard" again and not the one that i've chosen ( PCM for example ). So i have to change everytime the keyboard.
I tried to change de SIP, so i've download the SIPChange, but when i go into the Opera the same thing happens.
I'm using the ONYX rom if it matters.
Someone knows about it?
Thanks
no keyboard support
Opera beta does not support aftermarket input methods. Only built in keyboard. Check opera.com for more info.

Hi,
Does anyone know if there's a way in WM5 to use a different default SIP keyboard for different applications?
EG, for SMS messaging, I'd like the HTC Phone Pad to come up automatically, but for, say, Pocket Internet Explorer or Word Mobile I want the normal stylus Keyboard to pop up.
Thanks for any suggestions!
Cheers,
Ben
Perhaps you could use Mortscript.
write a batch script that will change the default keyboard depending on what active program is running. Plenty of information on Mortscript in this forum.
There a some software that I love using while I travel such as pocket putty or Picsel Browser.
But there is a big problem with them when I use the touch pad only numbers get out what ever mode I am in, (abc, XT9, 123) any key I hit on I get a number out.
is there a way to configure it so that what ever mode I choose I get it right: abc & XT9--> letters and 123--> numbers.
Thanks for any help.
Try using Resco Keyboard Pro, it integrates perfect with the TC even works with the word completion on my device! I had the same number problem with several keyboard programs but Resco works the best.
thanks I'll give it a try.
but I was more hoping for a fix or a reg teak...
Hi. I have purchased my HTC Pro recently and installed my most usufull programs. One of them is softmaker. I was really confused when couldn't have input any word in Plan Maker and Text Maker using built in keyboard. The same problem had with logmein remote control aplication. When connected to my PC thru HTC Pro I also couldn't have input any words using the slide keyboard. What's the problem? Have you experienced the same problem using these programs? The slide keyboard works when writing text messages so I suppose that the problem lies in OS.
dunno about softmaker, but had the same problem in log me in.
I noticed in log me in, that only the standard keyboard worked, and not any of the HTC qwerty t9 stuff.
Try setting the normal keyboard as the SIP and see if it comes back to life. I've a nasty feeling that the T9 is interfering...
Same here for LogMeIn... I was kinda shocked that the hardware keyboard didn't work... But the regular soft keyboard works. I have posted on the LogMeIn forums (there were already posts there from people with the Diamond with the same problem). I'm hoping they'll fix this, I'd love to be able to use LogMeIn for work... I work on a mainframe, so text input is kinda important...
I had the same problem with Softmaker Office 2006. I've downloaded the 2008 demo version, it works fine with the keyboard (at least you can use it for 30 days!).
So I've emailed Softmaker support, I don't want to upgrade at least until they handle Office 2007 file format, there is not much new in this 2008 version. Let's see what they say...
Have problems same too with DOSBox.
And also when I type with the keyboard in TomTom it adds a an a with a round on the top after each letter typed.
Me too
Sad to say, having the same keyboard issue with logmein service (rather disappointing). Maybe I have to switch back to the Dopod 838Pro workhorse I have - a bit of a fat boy but at least it worked as it should.
guitarguy: how did you get the software keyboard to work? it doesn't seem to work for me...
Note: I noticed in another thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=417616&page=3) sub69 had linked up to logmein in a tv out demo - not sure if they'd used the keyboard to login to the remote unit though. If anyone knows sub69 perhaps they can shoot them a pm...
I guess we can all shoot a message through to HTC and ask them. At the least, they'll be aware of the issue. I've contacted logmein for any help - but all they've sent back is a "not supported yet" message.
That may caused by ClearType in Landscape mode. Try to go to Settings->System->Screen->ClearType, clear checkbox Enable ClearType.
Had the same problem with pocketinformant 8.
I disabled t9, autocorrect and stuff like that , and now no more probem.
Except that, in french, when i push on FN then on é , the program closes !
Always filling a hole by digging another one
Th
I had problem with Softmaker Office 2008. When i pressed Fn Key+another key like !, &, # or else, the cursor in Planmaker/Textmaker will move away.
I'm using Opera Mobile 9.5 on HTC Touch Pro, but there is some annoying issue in cooperation Opera and hardware keyboard. And I'm still searching for some solution... but not successful. Anyone know what to do to solve it?
- When activate some input or textarea, Opera shows SIP. Again and again even I'm writing on hardware keyboard. And I won't to use NullKeybooard.
- The second problem is when I activate input using Enter key. When I use Backspace Opera represent it like Back key on front panel of Touch Pro (minimize Opera or go back to history). When I activate input by touch on it, Backspace key works correctly.
Is there some registry or Opera Mobile tweaks to solve it? Or only thing to do is wait for next build?

Similar Opera Issues...
Hey carnero,
just wanted to let ya know that i just tried what you mentioned to be your isseus with opera and i have the same problem or close to it with my touch pro... i am trying some things and ill let you know if i find a solution...
Hi guys, i have similar problem, but I think I cannot typ with HW keyboard at all! In all apications, its not working. keys like sms or email works, but input is not working!
I tried to install official Opera Mobile 9.51 (b1718). Now it switches SIP back to default Microsoft Keyboard everytime I tap to some form. No mercy with settings (some of three HTC keyboards). This version of Opera has some bugs more - lower build number predicts it. Grrr.
same problem
still can't type with the hardware keyboard in opera even with nullkb
any fix??????
I've just put Opera 9.7 beta on my XDA2 WM 6.0 and it's suffering from the same issue as the other builds that I cannot use the touch keyboard.
Details are here: http://www.opera.com/mobile/download/
One of the known issues is:
Some input method editors are known not to work well with Opera because they do not comply with Microsoft's SIP and/or IME standard. When such an editor is detected by Opera, Opera will use a known (default) input method instead. An exception is EzInput v1.5, where the phone keypad and compact QUERTY, ABC mode doesn't work, but the rest of the modes work fine. We recommend upgrading to EzInput v2.0 to avoid this.

Is it the case that the HTC touch keyboard does not comply.
If so, does anybody know of a decent alternative/upgrade?
use Finger Keyboard, works a treat and also is much better and user friendly to use. It may take a day or 2 to get used to but after that it will be fine and you will never go back
