Hello. As you all know, HTC developed a Linux operating system, that is Android.
Can anyone make it work on S710? I know some people tried Linux to work on this smartphone, but did not work out as aspected. So, could this Android give us another hope? I am not the only one that would want to use Linux on his smartphone...I'm sure of that....
and Android is now available as open source.
http://source.android.com/
I hope all of its drivers are also available for vox.
I'm interesting in it too . anyone test it on vox ?
Looks good to me lots of interesting stuff on you tube about it
Just gotta wait until one of you Clever people decide to play with it and make it work on our beloved handsets

I was just wondering if we could have the andriod os on the VOX
Before it runs on Vox, it should maybe run on just one device^^ Wait for releases of a phones with Android. Nobody has the knowledge to port it, except maybe the linux guys, because it's linux-based. So maybe, maybe not, depends on driver support and a guy who ports it!
http://www.pocketables.net/2008/07/android-install.html
is there a way to try it on vox?
There are a few HTC (and rebrand) phones that have had Android successfully boot! some have even gone so far as to have keyboards mapped properly and data plans working
interesting..
UP!
Hi!
I wonder if it's possible to port Meizu OS (see http://www.meizume.com/ or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meizu_M8) to our HTC devices?
I think it's a really cool OS that would be awsome to have on a HTC phone, and since it's based on Windows CE6.0 maybe it isn't that hard to port? Just a guess
I think the kind people at the MEIZUME.COM forum would give us a dump of the ROM if we ask kindly
nobody knows if this is possible?

no offense but how be we concentrate on finishing up the various ports of Android for HTC devices 1st.
Well... did CE6.0 change a lot as far as driver interface compared to CE5.0?
I doubt it will work.
The M8 uses Windows CE6 with a Custom Shell made by Meizu.
You would have to also port the drivers of our Windows CE5.2 Devices to CE6 and at the moment no one knows if that is possible or how long it would take.
That's what I mean, though. Is porting of drivers required or is the driver model the same?
Drivers are not the same and would have to be rewritten.... which is not an easy task.
windows mobile 7 is based on ce 6 so it will be possible then. until then... we wait.
okay, thanks for the replies! thought it was easier to port windows made stuff to windows made stuff but I seems like it was easier to port android to our phones lol
Is this possible? To run android on nontouch display devices???

Short: no!
Andoid is really meant for a touchscreen device..making it to work
without most likely involve significant effort.. (Source)

But it seems back in 2008 there was a demo that shows that it is possible: "Non-touchscreen Android Phone Demoed at CTIA"
But why you want that "dirty" walk around? I like WM6.1 very much!

Yes and no is not an answer its a strange response. The answer is it has been done but most developers here prefer working on high end phones.
Take a look at this post, Motorola just brought out a phone that does exactly that. As for popular non touch WM phones like Samsung S7550 and HTC snap.. they are just waiting for someone who wants some recognition and is not scared of the challenge.
http://www.androidpeople.com/worlds-first-non-touch-android-phone/
As for your comment on WM 6.1, its the most app unfriendly system around making developnent difficult. Just try android and you will see what i mean.
To the Chefs: get ready, nontouch android should be with us soon if one of you hasn't already gotten hold of a build.
Somebody have now B7330 with android OS?
It is possible to make this?
Thnks.
What are possible (custom) roms, please advice :good:
It's a old phone but there must be nice rom's & apps for it, or not?
so please give you're opinion about this B7330 Samsung Phone!!
hiya there people...
im looking for a phone that allows dual boot. i want to run android aswell as windows. what phones do you know that are available which are good spec that allow me to do this.
many thanks
The HTC HD2 will do as you ask. You run WimMo from the handset, and Android from the SD card. Check the HD2 forum for more info!

I would say HD2 too, but it's already an outdated phone. If it's really necessary to have Windows on-board, then you could probably wait for some of the new W7 phones to be customized. Keep checking for example the HD7 development forums.

I was just curious as to why you want this? Don't get me wrong, I like both OS's but android is far ahead in OS/app development and MS is stalling by saying the next Windows will be when they focus on handheld dev.
Is there a certain piece of the current Win phones you like that isn't present in android?

Hi everyone,
I am really curious to know if it is possible to install WP7 on Android phones?
Thanks.

No..
This is the first time I will say this but, if you really like Windows Phone 7, sell your Android device and get a Widows Phone 7 device. Best choice you can make
Yes. If not.... can someone enlighten me?
It will just take a lot of work and won't be near feasible to even support. Cellphone adoption rate says its better to just go buy the phone.

It's technically possible if the phone is using a Snapdragon processor, but so far no one has figure out how to hack the Windows Phone bootloader onto those devices.
So no or at least not currently.
No, because wp7 and android uses another hardware.

You meant to attach any link?
i belive it's called launcher 7, it's ok but not great. So far the only device that has had the WP7 OS ported to it has been the HD2 because 1.) it had a partial internal build from HTC, and 2.) the HD2 has probably the largest community support of any device aside from the iPhone.
Thanks for your quick response.
I do think the OP asked about OS not theme
So from what I understand my Galaxy ain't gonna eat WP7 and that's something that's neva gonna happen.
