Duplicated Contacts - General Topics

Hello!!
Sometimes when I Sync my Beattle with activesync, some of my contacts are duplicated, triplicated... aniv, notes, everything!!!
Is there any software to delete duplicate contacts?! Where can i find them?!
Why does this happen?!
Thanks a lot
Hugo

When my contacts have been duplicated for whatever reason (normally I've done it by mistake - my fat fingers), I take the SIM card out (which has the contacts on) and then delete the pim.vol file (normally by renaming it first to pim.vol.old and then deleting it) on the device, then restart the device with the SIM card back in it....
Then it will read the contacts that are on the SIM only and create a new pim.vol.

thanks a lot, but I have about 500 contacts...
You know what I mean?!
how can I solve my problem?!

Lost contacts after copying to SIM card...how to restore?

Hi,
I've got a problem and I hope someone can help me out here! I've tried several searches, and remedies, but can't find the "helping hand" I need.
I have an HTC Vogue, AKA P3450.
Windows Mobile 6, ROM version 1.11.404.1G NLD (dutch version)
What was I trying to do?
I bought an android phone and wanted to migrate my contacts to the android phone.
Outlook
So I opened Outlook, deleted all calendar entries, contacts etc. and synchronized. I figured that since Outlook was empty, all data from my phone would be copied to Outlook. No such luck: only a few deleted call histories were put in Outlook. Nothing else.
Copying contacts to SIM card
So then I copied my contacts to my SIM-card. I knew it can only hold 50 contacts with limited info. I wanted to put 50 at a time on my SIM, then put SIM in new phone, copy the contacts and start again with the next 50.
Problem
But now, I can't find my original contacts anymore! All I have are the 50 that I copied to my SIM, but they are not actually ON the SIM. The icon before each name shows they are on my phone.
Also, when I put the SIM card in my new phone, there are no contacts whatsoever.
Does anyone know if I still have the contacts, but I'm looking at a selection of some kind? (All filters are off.)
Remedies
I installed PPCPimBackup to at least save my pim.vol file. This was after the copying-to-SIM. So I have that file. No idea if it only has 50 or all contacts.
I also installed a trial of SpbBackup to view the pim.vol file, but I cannot see the file in SpbBackup, so I can't check if all my contact are in there.
I am at a loss here, can someone help me out? I would really appreciate it!
(PS: Sorry for long post, wanted to make sure all info was in there.)
Damn
I'll ask around for ya.
Nobody has any idea?

[Q] How do I transfer contacts saved on my phone (or SD card) to my GMail account?

I have some vcard files on my SD Card that contain my contacts...but they aren't saved to my Gmail account. It would be nice if I was able to log into my gmail account (typically after I flash a new rom or something...) and it loaded my contacts that way...rather than always having to Import/Export them from my SD Card.
I've noticed that a LOT of the time when I import/export them from my sd card, i lose a lot of my contacts... when I import them, some of them literally just aren't there...and I don't understand why.
So I figure, if I'm able to keep them updated on my gmail account, it'll just be a more seamless transition for when I wipe my phone when flashing roms.
Nevermind.. I just sorta figured it out.
You can plug your phone into your computer, copy the vCard files onto your hard drive... log into Gmail, go to Contacts, then ADD CONTACTS, then IMPORT them using the vCard files..
Only problem is now... I can't figure out where the phone saved the vCard files on the SD Card, like...I don't know what directory to find them in.
Anyone have any idea what directory Android saves your vCard files in by default?
EDIT: nevermind, I found that out as well... I just went to the root of the SD Card, and under the "SEARCH" bar on the top right, I just typed ".vcf", and it showed me ALL of the vCard files on my SD Card/.
I won't delete this...because if someone comes across this and is trying to figure out how to do this as well...it may be helpful to them.

Syncing back contact's photos to Gmail

Hello.
I've got big problem which ate almost all my yesterday's free time.
Well, I have nandroid backup from may where I have correct(so called "Correct") contacts photos. Sadly when I restore it and sync with my Gmaill acccount it overwrite all Correct avatars these from Gmail.
What I want is to sync Correct contact photos from nandroid backup back to Gmail. I tryed a lot of different ways: delete contact on gmail, editing them on phone etc. None of them worked correctly. It's all the time overwriting Correct avatar.
Maybe there is any way that I can copy all contact photos so I can upload them on computer(it would take few minutes to do it)? If not what else I can do?
I hope you'll understand me.
You could:
1) restore the backup and reboot the phone without a sim card to prevent the automatic sync (or you could just be quick and disable your data connection right after the reboot)
2) save your contacts to sd card (there is an export/import option somewhere)
3) go to the google contacts website, delete all your contacts
4) delete all your contacts on the phone
5) import the contacts you saved to your google account with the google contacts website
But export contacts to SD Card doesn't export contact pictures, does it?

Click to collapse
I'm not sure about this, sorry...
Did this procedure for other reasons a long time ago.
It doesn't, because it's exporting contacts to .csv file and when I tryed to open it on computer contacts didn't have pictures. After all the file is too small(about 230kb) to contain contact icons..
I'll print a picture and post it on the wall of person who would help me. Maybe someone knows where are contacts thumbnails stored in Android?

Contacts problems getting me crazy.

Hello guys, i don't always ask in this topic, but when i do i hope it solves my problem
So, i'm a big flashing addicts and every time i change the ROM, even if i don't sync my contacts with Google, i have troubles.
But the big, BIG trouble came with Android 4.0.
I restore contact file from my sdcard with 179 contacts. I don't sync ANYTHING.
After a little time => 303 contacts with duplicates for NO reason.
So there is my idea, i will delete ALL contacts from EVERYWHERE even in gmail.
And i make a .vcf file with all my contacts i want to use.
But the fact is making a list of contacts on the phone is f*ckin annoying. I want to create a .vcf on my computer. Is there any way to do that ?
TL;DR Contacts doing weird stuff, anyway to make a .vcf file from computer ?
Thanks for all guys

[Q] Duplicate Contacts App which Sorts by SIM, Phone & Email

Hi All,
I am facing the Problem with duplicate contacts after Flashing New ROM. I had taken backup of contacts before Flashing & with New ROM, when I restore the backed up contacts, I am having a lot of duplicate contacts & the reason is SIM contacts are duplicated.
when tried with some apps to remove duplicate contacts, they are deleting phone contacts (which usaully have more infor than in sim contact). So, is there is any app which delete based on Phone/SIM/Email Contacts?
Thanks in Advance.
You can use this.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.accaci
But still there must some left. You have to remove it manually. Then backup the contacts to SD card. Delete all previous contact backups from SD card..

There are some apps that can remove duplicate contacts. e.g. Duplicate Contact App
You can remove the duplicate contacts from the native contact apps as well as Gmail.
