Vox Dead - HTC Vox

A couple of days ago, I plugged my (Vodafone branded) Vox into a charger. The phone turned off and ever since I haven't been able to turn it back on. I have tried taking the battery, sim, etc out and leaving them out for a half hour or so, but to no avail. I have tried a different battery...
I don't get anything from the phone - no leds lit no nothing. Anyone have any clues? I have searched far and wide but haven't come across anything
... help!

Maybe there was a power peak. Wich burned a circuit of your vox?
Do you still have your phone under warrenty? I would RMA it. Since you don't get any response from your phone there isn't much you can do about it (my guess)
Good luck with it

Only waranty can help you. PCB components are destroied by high electricity power.
Good luck again

i had something similar after a bad flash..
have u tried go in bootloader...
hold the camera button and plug in usb.

Many thanks for your replies - I don't think it's still under warranty When I get back home I'll give the bootloader thing a go...

Slightly bizarre - I had to go over to Dallas on business this week (Mon-Fri). When I got back I put the battery back in (had left it out whilst I was away) and everything worked fine! I'm not sure if it had collected some moisture before or what... just very happy it works now!!

Strange, but good that it's solved
Good luck with your re-lived vox
* Maybe try the new dr. gonzo s740 rom, it will provide a much longer battery life! It used 1% in 6 hours while beïng idle in use it uses about the same amount of battery as any other rom and it has some handy features wich the previous 6.1 roms didn't have

Have moved over to the s740 rom and like it Although it is my better half (?) that has the vox, and she's just happy to have her phone back!

XDA II ALWAYS think it's charging

My XDA II suddenly decided to think it's always charging, EVEN when it's not in the cardle. I don't know why. The upper right corner is always yellow (not flashing). The backlight brightness can only be controlled by the 'On Power' slider. Simply, it thinks it is in the cradle. No matter how I try, be it soft or hard reset, it's the same. In this siutaution, the battery drains VERY VERY QUICKLY.
In fact, this is the 3rd time I experience this. For the previous 2 occasions, I send it back to service centre and they change a new unit for me under warranty. But it's just 5 months and it has already happened for 3 times! It's hassle and I am thinking what I can do after warranty period.
Am I being alone and anyone else has experienced the same situation? Any means I can solve it by myself? Thanks a lot.
I have same help me now
I think this is from using the cradle, for some reason it distorts the pins in the phone and causes a short between pins. I found that using a usb cable makes this less likely to happen.
hm
this is happening to me too
i had to buy a new xda 2 .... i still have the old one , if anyone knows how to fix this i would apreciate it very much. ...
it is the same story, the led is always on, it always says charning even when is not... and the battery only stays charged for 3-4 hours.
I´ve the same problem since yesterday with my T-Mobile MDA², it´s Rom Version: 1.72.01GER (6 months in use without problems), Rom Date 03/16/04, Radio 1.17.00, Protocol 1337.28, ExtRom 1.72.170
The yellow light is always on and the batterie runs very fast out of energy (1-2 hours) and it´s always says charging and think it´s connected to AC power...
Possible fix to "always charging" problem
 I got the same problem yesterday but I think I fixed it. (long rant)
By coincidence I was just finishing up after an upgrade to WM5 with Ramdisk when it happened. Of cource I suspected the upgrade to be the problem.
However, I remembered that I had gotten some snow onto the PDA exiting my car some hours previously, and started to suspect that this had created a short in the system somewhere.
Looking into the charge plug hole I could see that half og the bottom of the hole was covered with some light gray stuff. I used a thoothpick to gently scrape on it and lo and behold a big (relatively) wad of pocket lint came out. It had obviously become wet from the snow and created a short.
Everything works just like normal now. Charge stays fine (especially with my new 1700mAh eBay battery, recomended)
I have not had the problem return after the "fix". Fingers crossed.
I don't think everyone has exactly the same problem but I suspect it is caused by a slight short in the plug area in most cases.
Good luck!
In relation to this, when I sync my XDA II to my PC via the cradle, the phone automatically charges (even without the power supply). Is there a way to disable this charging feature? Cause the battery life will be shortened if charging happens when the battery is not drained first.
Thanks

My 2i does this as well, from what I have read this will not damage the battery. LiOn batteries prefer to be recharged before they get fully drained, in fact they like to be topped up rather then ran flat then fully charged. This is only going by what I have read on the internet, but it was on several differnt sites so I have no reason to think the info is duff.
Tx a lot for the confortable info.
@threadstarter:
the warranty should begin again if you receive a new device!
the warranty is on the device, not on the contract you have!
if you continue that way you should have a new one every half year ;-)

Battery goes Unknown

Hi, i'm searching forum for few days, and cannot find answer for my problem. On my Uni is Ranju 7.6, and all was ok.
Few days ago, when i was searching in TomTom, my Uni said, I had to replace battery or stack in recharge cable. I found, it happens when i'm doing somethimg memory intensive. For example playing Revival, using TomTom, or yesterday when browsing xda-dev. So battery appears "unknown battery" and all pda goes off.
I know, uni is checking battery every minute, but sometimes it cannot find battery... doesn't mattery if battery is full or not full.
Can it be hardware prob? I remamber, few days ago i fell off my bicycle, my uni was in case, in backsack, so nothing could happend to him, but maybe the shock?
Uni is too sensitive to shock, deeply sorry to say that ur Uni is having a series hardware problem. I had dropped my ex-uni from about 1 meter distance and even it has any apparent signs of the drop, even any minor scratch, but it lost its external speakers' sound and i had to change its main board.
oh But I saw my friend, who fell uni many times on floor, and nothing happend to it

it is somesort of luck, and the fact that the shock is transmited via the Uni case to the main board, and if it reached a weak point it will affect the IC related to that point. If the Uni is lucky, the force of shock may go to the case itself with microsocopic or visible cracks in nonfunctioal part.
Also, try another battery, may be the shock went to it, and assure that the second pin from upside is well conducted. In addition, try to clean the battery conducting plates and the uni conducting pins with alcohol.
thanks for advises, i'll try.

Also using Ranju's but 7.7. I never had this problem before with any rom. Just I bought a new clone battery, since then I always have this problem. it seems the infolithium is not working very well in this clone battery. I got used to it. Or just buy a new orginal battery. I don't care much about it I can live with it
The problem is the battery.
WM6 and 6.1 Roms and also later radio versions require more power for all of the various functions than the plain old wm5 roms.
Make sure that the battery is an original ( not a cheap Ebay clone)
It is also worth buying one that is slightly higher than the standard battery.
The problem occurs because the battery is unable to supply enough power in times of high demand.
I have had the same problem with old batteries too.
Also, it is advisable to flash a new rom with a full 100% battery charge.
Cheers,
Beasty
last year, i had an o2 exec, it fell off my pocket when i was riding my motorcycle. imagine the impact caused on my exec as it fell to the ground, rolling for a number of times, bumping almost all sides. luckily i placed it in the leather holster, only the corners are exposed thus having few scratches only.
after that incident, i notice that my screen had a stuck or shall i call it dead pixel. aside from this, all else are working. so i guess our universal is rather tough than what we expect it to be.
Hey mr,we do it in old fashion way
1. cover your battery with blanket
2. put it in the freezer
3. in over a night, you can dry it in the morning than,u charge it and you have a new batteries, its more cheaper than buying a new one

Now i'm buying the new one.

earpiece stopped working...

The Earpiece of my Vox just stopped working. Anybody else had this problem or knows a solution? Could it have something to do with the Win6.1 Rom from Gonzo?
Hi Bunecarera,
had exactly the same problem today.
I made a hard reset- hasn´t change a thing.
While I was driving home, my battery went emty. So my vox was without power for a few hours.
After that (while preparing for sendigt it to htc) i gave him a last try - and it worked!
So, I would propose that you remove your battery and wait for a few hours.
But now I have the problem, that i can´t establish a usb connection to my pc :-( It´s just charging... but no data connection.
I keep trying...
Roman
@NamorGermany
Change the USB cable
@matrix77
thanks for you tip, but i already knew this issue...
tried several diffrent cable... doesn´t change anything!
Aaah, i went into the bootloader... now the ROM-Update is working!
I´m really glad. Thanks secable (it was his post).
(Bootloader = Phone of, hold camera-button, plug USB-cable in)
@Bunecarera
I will let you know if the Rom downgrade (to original HTC Rom) will solve our problem. But I think its a hardware matter... :-(

It Worked!! Don't have an explanation for it, but it started working again after removing the battery for a couple of hours.
Strange, very strange...
My ear piece stopped working too. I found that hitting my phone on something hard brought it back to life. My casing is already damaged so i didnt mind! So anyway I waited til my warranty ran out and then took my phone apart to have a look at the ear piece. After taking the entire phone apart to get to it i found that the ear piece is connected using very thin, bearly 1mm cable. Mine has a dodgy connection but only very slightly where it meets a connector, most probably from all the drops my phone has had. But my advise would be for you to contact htc if your within warranty. I did before about my battery and a got new one!
FYI I did try to fix the connector but as the cable is soo small its too risky.
Hope this helps a bit! If at all lol.
Mine became very distorted a little while ago, I simply flick the earpiece when it happens and it solves it, heh.

SOLVED!!! [Q] Help! Nexus S won't turn on!!! :(

Hi everyone.
Last night I went to bed and as usual I check my Nexus S battery.
It indicated me very low battery, and turn it off.
So far, no problem, i thought, well there isn't enough battery to turn on the phone. I connected the cellphone to the wall charger and went to sleep.
Today i woke up and try it to turn it on, the screens just flashes and nothing happens.... Removed battery, try it again, the same.
Try 100 times that, and there was one time a Warning of Bootloader came up. Don't know what i did different thought, but now i can't get the same result.
Actually now the screen doesn't even flashes when i press the power button.
The battery seems to be charged, i tested with a LED. My wall charger is also working cause it's able to charge my old phone.
And now to get things even worse, as i bought it in asia, i don't have warranty, and the gran finale, Nexus S is not been sold in Brazil due to some regulatory issues, so Samsung said it they can't help me with an imported product.
The Cellphone is brand new, doesn't have not even ONE month of use.
It's not rotted, and it was in the latest android firm.
Does anyone have any idea what can i do????
The phone doesn't respond to anything .
Tnks a lot in advance.
PROBLEM SOLVED!!! SEE THE LAST THREAD. BR!

Is it showing full bars when you connect the charger and press the volume button?
dude, i think there is something wrong with our country. take a look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1111761
i think you tried everything possible, can't see what else you could do. Looks like a hardware issue..
if i were you, i'd claim for warranty, even if you bought in hk, it has warranty, of course you will lose shipping cost, but, it's better than lose the phone! =o]
good luck!
GchildT: Nothing happens when i connect the charger to the cellphone.
Already tried the hard reset (volumn up + power button) nothing happens
thiagodark: Tell me about it, i read this thread ealier this morning, actually i send it a private message asking him if he solve his problem... samsung is really disappoint me.
The thing i found most said is that the phone is bran new! Not a month year old.
And i didn't do anything, not even rotted, dropped, anything!
PROBLEM SOOOOOOOOOOOLVED!!!
The problem was that there was a little tiny piece of plastic dirt in the usb male plug in the phone! And that piece was able to make a faulty contact with the charger, the phone battery was dead as hell.
Can you believe that?????
I almost sent my phone across the world in order to use the warranty.
Now I'm back with my cellphone up , happy as hell!
Tnks a lot, and remenber to always clean everything before use more drastic measures.

[Q] Strange power problem

My HTC Sensation seems to have a very strange power problem and I am hoping someone can help. Around four months ago my phone started switching itself off when I went to do something, it could be read a text, make a call or maybe send a text. What I noticed is when I turned the phone back on the battery level would jump down, it could “lose” 20-60% of its battery life.
If I then put it on charge it would never return to 100% unless I restarted it, it was almost as if the phone didn’t recognise the % of battery it had “lost”. This could happen many times a day and once it switched itself off around 15-20 times as I tried to make a phone call when hiking in the mountains.
The only time it keeps working is if it is connected to a power source. Also when it does switch off I notice it becomes quite hot at the bottom of the screen.
I swapped batteries with my girlfriend who has the Sensation XE and with her battery my phone worked fine but with my battery her touchscreen wasn’t as responsive as normal which was very strange.
I was running the HTC stock firmware but I moved to CyanogenMod to play with it and see if it was a software issue but the problem continues with CyanogenMod.
I spoke to HTC but they said I was out with my 12 month accessory warranty so I’d have to buy a new battery. The problem kept happening and it drove me round the bend for a while until I just decided I’d buy an Anker battery. I’ve had it for almost two months and all was going well until yesterday when my phone turned itself off as I tried to send a text.
Since then it must have turned itself off around 6 times either trying to make a call, read a text or send one.
Does anyone have any ideas? I thought it was just a dud battery at first but now with the exact same thing happening to the second one I wonder if it’s something else.
Thanks
try to put a piece of paper or something to fit where the battery connects with the device
maybe loses somehow the connection
best wishes
Hi Lsmith,
This issue seems to happen on many Sensation devices... but there is hope!
Sometimes it's due to a custom Rom or due to a let's say "faulty" connection between battery and the connectors of your device.
- I would first suggest to charge your phone up to 100% (if possible). After that, perform a reset (make a backup) and look how your device behaves.
- If you still detect the same behavior follow this thread ->
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531232 (check out the last picture). This is the so called paper trick...
For me it's enough placing a folded paper on the battery itself, covering part of the sim card. Just try out what suits you best.
Cheers
