My WiFi shuts off every time my screen blanks out. I can see this being good if I were on battery, but personally only use WiFi when plugged into A/C. Is there a registry edit that'll change this 'feature' and leave WiFi running?! Thanks!
Yeah, that fix would be nice!
I noticed that Skype by-passes idle-mode in it's software and that's one way to fix it. To bad that not all apps do that...
If you use it only when charging, you can configure your cruise to stay on when the device is charging.
Mi cruise is in Spanish, so i will translate the options as i think it must be in english.
Go to START, CONFIGURATION, SISTEM, ENERGIE, ADVANCED
And there you can configure the options to turn off the device when is on battery and when it is charging.
Hope it will be usefull.
That was an answer to a different question, perhaps someone will find your tip useful. Thanks though.
The question is how to stop WiFi from shutting off when the screen blacks out, whether or not it's plugged into AC.

Hi, Benjimen, did you check Schap's Advanced Config 3.2.0.0, there are some settings for Wifi. I haven't tweaked/tested any of them since I don't use much of Wifi. Hope it may help you.
Thanks -- I've read about that, but haven't tried it. Was really hoping someone knew the registry tweak to accomplish it, looks like I'm out of luck though
It sounds like you're 'guessing' it might be a feature? Does anyone who has tried the program actually know and care to post factual info? I took a look at the info for the software, and it does't appear to be one of the tweaks, at least not in the example screens.

I have the Schap's Advanced Config 3.1.0.0 installed and i cant find enything about that, only to shutdown the wifi if there is no activity....
I alsa didnt know that there was a 3.2.0.0 version, will try to check that out later.
Chears.
PS: sorry benjimen if my previous post didnt help...
i have downloaded the 3.2.0.0 and i also could not find anything there that could solve your problem.
Chears.
the problem is when one click the power button one dont
turn off the screen
one suspend the device power most systems down
you can get programs which just turn off the screen
which would leave the wifi on
but the device run out of batt pretty fast if it's
not suspented
In Polaris.Aserg.WM61.WWE ROM WMP plays when the screen is switched off, Probably you can check with him for your requirement.

...yes, you can get lots of programs to do lots of things -- would be relevant of you to provide an example, which programs are you referring to? Again, not interested in what WiFi does to the battery, but thanks for that reminder
benjimen, as was given as a tip changing the time-out is a working temporary solution.
I did something similar with a software that allowed me to make "user profiles". The "work" profile had a longer time-out just to keep my wi-fi active

How frustrating I saw this topic and thought it would help me do what the OP is trying to do, but it's just a bunch of non-answers Don't people read the original question before answering?
benjimen, sorry if I am bothering you - did you check http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=329139 and the links mentioned there.

or find more programs like it using google to search

Thanks for trying Rudegar, but who really wants to install another layer of junk just to accomplish what should be an option.
Thank you 02xda2, I found a tweak in the thread you linked to, the registry entries did the trick! Here they are for anyone who might be interested:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State\Suspend\{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}
-change (Default) DWORD Dec to 1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State\Resuming\{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}
-change (Default) DWORD Dec to 1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State\Unattended\{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}
-change (Default) DWORD Dec to 1
If you need to change it back, the default entry for all of them (at least on my Cruise) was set to 4

Enable schaps advanced config 3.2 -> menu -> more settings -> connections and check "enable wifi on standby mode"

Thanks, but I got it with just the registry entry. I've always had bad luck with the do-it-all tweaker programs, at some point set something I shouldn't and mess something up.
I was looking for a way to do it via a registry edit, and found it thanks to another poster here -- if anyone is looking to do the same it's a couple posts back, or click here.

Hey guys, hopefully you can help me out with some of my queries on customizing wm6.5.
How can i set the lockscreen to be always lit, instead of dim on wakeup/lock. I cant find any backlight tab in the power settings. Is there anything in the registry for it?
What about the constant vibration on normal+vibration mode, can I have it set to the same ryhtmic vibration for manner mode? I know there's an app called VAlert, but is there any registry tweak for it? Also, can I stop the music/vibration for a text after I tap on the screen? As for now, it'll only stop if i press the End Key.
And one more thing, can I remove the BCC CC From to subject fields etc from Messaging. I seem to recall there's a tool for it but I cant remember what it's called.
Thanks =D

It may be under Start->Settings->Personal tab->Lock, or on my current ROM, Start->Settings->System tab->Power->Backlight, and there's a checkbox.

I think VAlert should use a registry tweak to do it. Not sure though... As to the second part, I don't think that's possible...

Not seen that... Although in 6.X ROMs messaging uses html based form creation, so have a look for email.htm or new_email.htm in \Windows, and see if there's anything discernible in there.
Just found something new that may be of interest for question one...

Thanks for all your replies.
I have checked the link you provided and tried what have been suggested but unfortunately they did not work. My LockLevel key kept going back to 0 after soft reset.
Well I might have to just use VAlert in the end. Will check out the email.htm too.

Right... Very odd. Did it work whilst LockLevel wasn't 0? If so, I can write a quick applet that sets it to whatever at startup.

Well, I am not sure if I needed to restart for it to be take effect or not, but it didnt work when I lock the phone after I edited the registry. Screen was still dimmed. So I am not sure if it was because it didnt work, or the registry change didnt take effect.

Yes when I tap it, it lights up. But what I am looking for, is for it to not dim in the first place, to have it light up once you turn it on.

Sup guys, new here and I browsed around and didnt find this, maybe its just a setting;
But Im on my new S3, and when I go to hit the volume rocker down (to turn it on silent or up to loud so I can hear call rings) Its changing my In-game volume only. Now I woke up to this, maybe I was asleep and changed something I do not know. But this is a hassle, I know I can change the volume on all three settings by clicking the gear icon to get the pop up window but its seriously a hassle, I want the default volume rocker to control the phones notifications, vibrate function etc. Is this a easy setting fix?
Also, side note to the main problem, but has there been an update or setting put into place for the re-sized text on webpages? I switched from my HTC Thunderbolt and it did that automatically, I read in some reviews this was one of the S3's downfall. I've looked through the IE settings and nothing appears on that subject. Am I just going to have to hold it landscape or scroll to read USA Money all the time?:crying: Hopefully not, but any input is appreciated bros.

It will usually change the volume with respect to your current context, I've seen: if in a game with sound (which is most of them on my phone), it will change the overall Game/media volume, but if on a home screen it changes my ringtone volume. I also get appropriate volume changes for when in a call and/or on my Bluetooth earset.
I only know of going into Settings->Sound or using the gear shortcut in the notification bar or when changing any other sound to alter my System volume.

No, the stock browser has degraded in my opinion: it has no auto-wrap of text for zoomed pages. Opera is now my default browser because of various reasons, but this was the highest priority one to fix (and, Opera re-wraps quite well, IMHO). I have seen other owners here who liked Dolphin browser, too.
- ooofest
In the stock browser, there is actually a setting (not on by default) that makes it auto wrap. Although I use chrome, my roommate uses default and has no problems.

There is an "auto-fit pages" setting under the Settings->Advanced submenu, though this is not the same as word-wrapping, I've found.
If your roommate has a different setting they use, that would be interesting to learn.

Problem fixed, it was a weird app I recently installed that was asking weird permissions, after I uninstalled and restarted, problem fixed.
But not to be a problem after problem thread, but my Burst mode in taking pictures doesn't take the 20 second burst mode, only the 8 "Best shot". When trying to take a 20 picture burst, it only takes one and goes to processing. What could that be?
Hi,
I just purchased an x96 box and was looking through the features when I saw the security feature for setting up a resticted profile. Since I have kids I thought it would be good to set one up, so created my password and then clicked "enter restricted profile". Not only did it restrict the apps that were availible to me, but now in the sttings tab all the buttons are gone (except for network) so I can't change any settings. As well there isn't anything for me to toggle back to normal profile. I basically am stuck in restricted profile and cant change it. When I turn on and off the box it comes back on in regular mode (all the apps), but then 5 seconds in it says "switching to restricted profile" and I cant make any changes to settings.
Anyone who can help would be a lifesaver.
Cheers

Thanks
I ended up doing a factory reset. Click on the apps button on the home page. Near the bottom is a button that says "backup......". Clicked on that and checked off delete data and delete "something" then hit restore. Good to go.
Hope that helps.
Let sera...
Ok so I got a x96 foolishly done the same thing. Here's how to set it again. While the power is off in the av point on the rear of the box poke a match stick in and there is a button insode. Hold it down. It will come up with options like a boot sort of setup options. I went to clear data or something along those lines and boom back to factory settings. I looked everywhere for a reset button it was only because company I purchased from advised me it was there.
Ditto! Is ther e any other option than reseting factory settings? How can i apply the original passcode I entered?
Did you get it fix?

X96 restricted profile problem
Now any new solution? When I set PIN code and apply restricted profile after that I cannot reverse normal mode, can't apply PIN code
With a factory reset ?
So did anyone work out how to get back removing restricted profile without a factory reset. It seems so counter productive...
Thanks.
Hope it works for you too.
Okay. So, I didn't see a reset button hidden anywhere, but I didn't wanna have to do that anyways. What I've found is that when you turn it off and back on, you can go back out of restricted mode. You just need to be really fast before it re-enters restricted mode again. You have about ten seconds. It's best to connect a mouse because it takes longer to scroll to the apps and options using the remote. But I did everything in time because my password was 0000. As soon as it turns back on, as quickly as possible, go to settings, >security & restrictions, then go to turn off restricted profile. Quickly enter your passcode and you're home free! After that, I'd highly recommend deleting restricted profile. Hope this works for you too!

Yours is the best idea to solve the issue. Unfortunately my GT1 is so fast, that gives me only 1 second. The same is with wired mouse. Is there any experience, if after master (pinhole) reset the Google account should get back all (Kodi reppositories, YouTube account,...) settings ?
I have exactly the same problem with my Philips 49PUS7502/12 Android TV. I even didn't set up a PIN CODE for it. I can't get out of this profile. Any solution rather than factory reset? I have many apps and customization.
I can successfully run widgetupdatet and musicproxy on my uis7862 unit.
But I think i need to make it start at boot/wakeup and also make it not battery optimized
So for start at boot/wake up, i turn it on with User - application. But this make widgetupdater app show up everytime when unit boot up, which i prefer it to hidden
For battery optimized setting, I don't have battery option from my setting menu.
May I have your advice on this?
@KёniG
Thanks

cool, thanks. Let me try this app on my unit for battery setup part
May I know how about the startup part, anyway I can make the app screen do not popup and make a more silent startup?
(for my firmware, I can make app startup automatically in settings -> user -> application settings
Thanks again
@KёniG
I've switched to paid version and turn on "silent start" seems it will just flash then go away which is good now.
However I don't find the way to open the app to change settings anymore (don't see the icon at notification menu) . need to wipe out the app data to get back to setting screen

My answer above is about silent start up.
If you have the restricted notification bar it is required to reinstall the app to enter settings. Silent mode is not appropriate way for you.

Thanks, so either I can still choose silent startup but need to reinstall app if i need to change settings
Or
I dont make it silent startup but i will see the setting screen everytime the unit starts?
and one last thing
After I use musicproxy+widgetupdater. When I use my wheel button - "mode" to change the source, it will go through radio, Phone, Bluetooth music, then my specified music player, then stopped if i press "mode" again. Originally, the next app is the map and then loop back to radio. Is it normal behaviour?
Thank you so much
Played a bit more, seems AIMP is working fine to loop the button cycle.
Your problem got solved?

silent startup still make the app no longer configurable but is ok as I don't think need to always configure that often.
For wheel button issue, I find out is my specific app (KKBox) issue. If I change to AIMP or another music app then is working fine to cycle the sources.
And i think a setting which is quite useful for me is "Multiple music app" which will show current playing app info in that widget area
