Whenever I get a SMS from someone overseas, the time shown on the SMS is in their timezone, rather than mine. This is a bit confusing and also means that new SMSes from other countries are listed below other messages I've already read. Is there a way to get Windows Mobile to show all times in my time zone?
Bump...
Am also having this problem with my new HTC Touch Pro, except the times are totally off (the person that's messaging me is way behind my timezone, yet their messages appear two hours ahead of my timezone?)
Anyone know how to fix this? It's pretty annoying

I have a Mio A701 with WM5, the latest official ROM.
Whenever you write more than 160 characters (or 80 in Unicode, I've disabled the Unicode option anyway), that message will be sent in multiple sms.
The thing is, whenever I pass that limit (160 characters), aka need to send a multiple sms message, I just can't send it. I always get the error "Your text message cannot be sent".
So, is this a bug, an option that can be checked/unchecked? The logical thing would be windows sending it automatically, wouldn't it?
yeah it should auto split it into 2 and send them both it works for me
so it could be an issue with the rom you are using or the operator but then
people with other phones would get the same prob
I also thought that maybe was some kind of configuration I had to do because of the operator, because with other cellphones I could always send text messages like that without any problem. I've asked this in many places but never got a reply
No one really knows a solution to this? Or at least that it happened to someone here? I'm still stuck with splitting the messages manually I've changed my rom to WM6.1, but it's still the same! With generic cellphones this never happened, so I don't really know where the problem is coming from.
I've thought that maybe it's because the sending timeout is too short... Can that be changed in the registry?
I'm back again! And still with the problem
I've found out that with SMS Chat v1.05, I can send messages normally. With any more recent version, or any other program, the same problem occurs. Any idea on why?
I work in the basement of a building, and thus, my reception is spotty at best. I tend to use my phone most for text messaging (and not even SMS, though I'm not sure I'm clear on the difference).
If I'm sitting on my desk, I will eventually (through the proper alignment of air particles or whatever) get signal and receive text messages, though sometimes they're delayed. However, when I reply, I usually get "text message cannot be sent" and the message stored in drafts (and often I don't even see this message, and only notice hours later that the message wasn't sent).
Every other (non smart-)phone I've had has automatically retried to send text/SMS until it succeeded, but for some reason Windows Mobile doesn't do this, and relies on me realizing that a message is still in drafts, and makes me resend manually.
I found this thread from 2006 that addresses the same problem, but there was no solution at the time. I was hoping that Mobile 6 or 6.1 would solve the issue, but it appears they still just abandon failed messages.
Are there any third party apps that will retry until successful? I'd like it to be for standard text messages, though I could switch to SMS with my wife to solve the main issue.
I've found a post in the kaiser software forum that says that "Palm Threaded Messaging" does this, but isn't that a Palm app? They also mentioned that it gets rid of the 'text messages' link in messaging, which is unacceptable.
Anybody know of an app or registry fix that would solve this? I've tried searches on google and this forum, and have come up with nothing. Does anybody have the skill to write such an app? I might be willing to pay for a couple hours worth of development.
Thanks.
I am looking for the same solution.
I have a samsung i760 and have a similar work issue where I have little or no reception depending on the alignment of the stars.
Please help us out
This can easily be done with mortscript. Simply move all messages in the drafts folder to the Outbox and they should send. You can also check signal strength before you do it. I am sure somebody is willing to whip something up.
wish they would!!
I am used to Nokia's features and with the bad reception i get in my office at home I am used to just hitting send then once i get a ray of light willing to carry a signal the msg gets sent, but on this diamond i gotta get up off my jacksie and go find a signal before hitting send. This is a major inconvienience as you can imagine.

Mobile Secretary is fine for sending Automated responses to missed calls. But is there a way to include the "resending" feature in WM 6 ?
Hi everyone, I'm new here, and to the HTC Touch Pro, and I tried searching for a solution to this problem but I couldn't find it.
I have Verizon as I said, and I used to have the LG Voyager phone. I just upgraded to the HTC Touch Pro, and have noticed an annoying problem with my text messages.
With the Voyager, when I'd text over 160 characters, as long as I was sending to another Verizon customer, it would send one long text message, it wouldn't break it up or anything. Also I could receive messages over 160 characters from anyone who could send them to me.
With the HTC Touch Pro, if I send over 160, it breaks it into multiple messages, which is annoying to the person I text. Also and more importantly, I can't receive messages over 160 characters. I get the text cut off at the 160 point, followed by a message saying something to the effect of the previous message was edited to remove extra features, or something similar to that.
Other than the change to my data plan necessary for a PDA/Smart phone, I made no other changes to the account when I switched phones.
Does anyone know how to resolve this?
I've looked around a lot and have found 1 or 2 peoplethat have the same problem but nobody has any answers. Anyone have any ideas?
The thing is, that this isn't a problem... it's a default feature which.. unfortunately, I doubt can be changed.
Of course, i might be wrong..
Well thanks for clearing it up anyway. I didnt realize the voyager was actually doing somethingout of the norm to allow those messages to send. Thanks for the reply.
I have the same problem, and its very annoying.
There has to be a way to fix it, maybe flashing a new radio eh?
I'm not sure cause im new to the whole smartphone thing, i just barely got this tp a couple weeks ago.
that is what the phone company allows it's not something that can be changed.
I have tried many cooked roms with my i780, almost all of them WM 6.5.
I realized today that if I have more than one number registered inside an outlook contact (I am used to register alternative mobile phone numbers in the "pager" field), when I receive an sms from a contact with more than one phone number, there is absolutely no way to find out which number was used to text you. Also, when you reply, you don't know the phone number you are texting, you just know that its the same that was used from your contact to text you in the first place.
I realized that today when I was chatting a friend of mine believing that I use my "free of charge" sms messages (which I do when I text his main number) and ended up charging my balance. He told me he was using his alternate number (that I have registered as pager) and when I tried to somehow confirm it, i see there is no way. All you get is the name of your contact. No way to access extra info either for received or sent messages.
Am I missing something? Has anyone else realized that and/or has a problem with it?
I am not sure if I am the only one, but noticed a slight problem regarding to SMS display.
It's regarding the sender's and mine timestamp. Not sure why, but SMS's I recieved from a friend who was responding to my SMS got timestamp lower than my original SMS. I would understand if it would be some seconds, but the difference there was ~2 minutes. So basically his reply to my sent message was put above my message. Seemed like it would be sorting the messages according to sent time from my friend's telephone
Anybody else noticed such glitch? Any workaround ?
It's a known issue for some people. It's a problem with the timestamps on the messages themself but can sometimes be remedied by altering you phone's time. Do you have the date and time settings as "automatic" or are they manually configured by you?
am on automatic. And I don't really see a point of going away from ntp syncing. Is it possible to mark incomming SMS's with current timestamp of MY phone ?
