very interesting.
No US 3G. Lame.
Europe/Asia: 900/2100 MHz
For Canada, US, South Americas, Australia, South Africa - that's enough to make it almost useless ... no 850Mhz
Ya, NO 3G in US makes this phone crap. I own the original Touch Cruise because it was a tri band 3G phone.
I have noticed that most of the new phones HTC is putting out lack the 3G North America, what gives?!!!

Just a theory, but if you look at their 2009 lineup leak, at least the one that sorta specifies that certain phones are targeted at specific networks in the US...I kinda get the feeling that they want to make sure that certain models that are headed to the US will be the only ones that those in the US are using. It probably isn't a long term strategy, but it makes a little sense to see how well they suited they are for the US market using their own name.
I wouldn't be surprised if they also release a non-subsidized US-centric model that is superior to the carrier models, just as a test to see if they have to rely on carrier subsidies or if they can be successful without playing ball with the carriers exclusively. I suspect this is part of the reason the Diamond was eventually released in a US 3g friendly build.
It's only because of the US carriers... they don't give you enough freedom, as like the carriers in europe... sure we get branding, and network locks, but that's all there is... we didn't deviate from the Asian standards as the US market did oh so long ago...
Ok Maybe this is just a random theory of mine, or just random stupidity, but please follow along here. This is an idea of mine that came from how the HTC Dream and the HTC Sapphire could basically use the same roms, basically because the two phones where so close in spec details. So in theory (taking a device from around the same date, in this case the Sidekick 4g and the Galaxy S 4g) two devices with very, very close specs might work on each other. Ill put the phone specs below.

I'm not trying to get the development section of this device's hopes up, but, in theory this might work. So im going to start testing Rom's from the Galaxy S 4g to see if they work on the Sidekick 4g. I know there is another device with the same specs as the Sidekick, but, i sadly dont remember what it was so i cant look into testing Rom's from that device. There is basically no risk from trying this if some people want to try this theory also since this phone is basically unbrickable and you can use the UnBrickable Resuscitator to go back. Ill keep every on up to date with the progress of this and let every one know if and when a rom thats either Gingerbread or ICS works with this. I say again this is just a theory that im going to start testing. Its nothing set in stone.
I wish you the best of luck, I know that other devs ran into huge issues when trying to do this.

What if that was just a rumor lazy devs spread around....???
Its just a driver, like any computer there is a proprietary driver and then there are generic drivers......
If you look at the reference guide I'm working on ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1466906 ) you'll see there's no one device which uses all the same components as our Sidekick. But the majority of the hardware in our phone appears in another Android phone. So it might be possible with some mixing and matching.
This was the main problem. Samsung used non-standard parts in building this phone, and by extension, had to rework/rewrite most of the drivers in the process. The SGS4G is the closest that I've found yes, but the video driver is different indeed.
For those who wish to pursue development through this idea, the SGS4G kernel/rom will boot on the SK4G, but none of the drivers work, so you cannot see anything or use the rom. Basically, the SGS4G kernel has the processor components for the GB kernel, but nothing else.
EDIT: took another look at this again today, looks like we'd need some GB bootloaders as well, which we do not have, and need to be built specifically for this phone.
i guess i just dont understand why samsung is so stupid with this, do they realize if they let development fall into the open source community that more people would want this phone?
The random parts probably come from the fact that Magenta wanted this phone to look and feel like the old Sidekicks. Thus, they probably had to scrounge up non-standard parts to get the feel right, then realized they had to code everything different.
My hopes of getting an official GB port are dwindling...=/

may be you can try port T759 to T839 the camera is same
The camera is the least of our worries, the issue is that in order to have correctly linked binaries, we need a 2.6.35 kernel on the SK4G.

That would be so sexy... definitely going to be a frankenstein experiment and a half to get this working. Driver from here, driver from there, and some re-writes over that way. Spoke with Samsung about an update on their end yesterday, they don't know squat as usual.
Best of luck and my cash offer still stands for the guy who gets GB rockin on this device.

Exhibit 4g (1) has the closest I can find except for our KB and exhibit has a flash. will need a kernel dev to map keyboard lights and several other things. But of coarse it has no support either. ;-(
Dumb questions: are the existing hardware drivers used in Froyo incompatible with Gingerbread? How much work would it be to modify them to work under Gingerbread?
the jump from froyo to Gingerbread would require an updated kernel, which would in turn require modifying them at least somewhat to be compatible. for experienced kernel devs this might not be as difficult as it seems to be to me, but as far as I've tried, it seems to be insurmountable so far.

Well, the way i see it is that people usually just asked questions in the thread, and i think i adressed most of the problems or current bugs. So untill the new release or a bug magically decides to stroll on in i think i addressed everything pretty well in the OP.

unfortunately this is a combined thread for all note pro 12.2 it seems.. and the only roms ive noticed have been for the P900 only .. wondering if having a specific one for each of the others like att/vzw/tmo, etc would help.. not sure it would..
not savvy enough to know if it would be possible to port in a sense the p900 ones to make them work with the others like the 905 etc.
From my Fired-up Note Pro 12.2!
This is already a very market-specific device, and then you go buy the variant that is for an even smaller market, hoping there will be ROMS for a device owned by maybe 40 XDA users? Not bloody likely.

p905 has other platform than p900 (snapdragon vs exynos), so porting something between p900 and p905 is quite difficult
Are there any issues with the bootloader being locked or anything like that on the Verizon version?
Oh wow I wish it had more support had no idea they were that different... well at least I have root
Yeah back when I'd use my Verizon galaxy tab 10.1 I would be one of the beta testers for the guy that was developing the kernel for cm 10 support for the tablets in that model line (great dev named Pershoot). He would put in countless hours trying to piece together something that would support all of the variants and I would flash test ROMs over and over again to verify that all features worked. That experience taught me to avoid a US carrier branded android tablet if I wanted to tinker with roms lol. I haven't seen anyone developing like that here yet. It's an impressive commitment developers make.

Okay,
I'm also fed up with waiting for cyanogen to port their ROM to the P905; so I decided to give it a go myself.

I've tried downloading the ROM that is available for the sm-p605, but it can not simply be flashed on the p905 of course.
Give me some time to look at it and I'll post here as soon as I get it working.
Greets.
Here's my take on roms for the Note Pro....if you're rooted & have Xposed installed you really don't NEED to flash a rom. You can customize the stock rom the way you want for the most part. I know some developers also tweak the performance in their roms but the Note Pro is quite fast stock. What feature do you really need that can not be added with Xposed?

Not much, I guess, I just don't like Samsungs TouchWiz, for starters, I know there are different launchers out there, but I want it gone from my system.
The same goes for those who have the p900, they already have ROM's available, then why shouldn't we, p905 owners?
But thanks for the input though.
tl;dr Are Infinix phones reliable?
I've been looking to upgrade my phone from the 2014 Moto G, and I was wondering if anyone has tried Infinix phones?
The have caught my attention considering their extremely low prices for relatively high specs (I'll list the specs below for those of you who haven't even heard of the brand). I am a bit reluctant towards buying a Chinese phone considering their reputation for being of low quality as well as the phone's small battery since MediaTek processors are power hungry.
Here are the specs of the Infinix Zero 3

Gentlemen
I want to pre-order the Samsung S8+ with 128GB/6GB RAM from South Korea on eBay.
Dual-SIM is a must for me.
However, it is not clear to me if this South Korean model comes with single SIM or dual SIM.
Example:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-Gal...385846?hash=item4d573224f6:g:58MAAOSwhQhY5dc7
or
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-Gal...970777?hash=item2a7eeb3759:g:PFYAAOSwTM5Y5d5q
Can anyone help me out with this information? Thanks.
From the product website it looks like it's single SIM:
http://www.samsung.com/sec/smartphones/galaxy-s8-plus-g955/SM-G955NZKESKO/
I translated the page with Google Translate and there's no word on dual-SIM.
It comes with dualsim in India, lte+lte capabilities.

On a different note, this is not the phone I was referring to. The model you are referring to from India has a 5.8" screen in 4GB RAM.
I am also very interested in that phone, another search found this :

Where to purchase S8+ g9550 128gb/6gb/dual-SIM
I would like to keep this thread alive because I have asked the same question and though the Korean version S8+ sm-g955fd does meet the dual sim requirement, I also would like the hardware with the best performance and that is currently the version sold in China as the S8+ sm-g9550. So far I have chat, emailed, and called representatives from Samsung with no positive results. The g955fd is still the only dual sim version reasonably available on Ebay and Amazon. If someone knows where the S8+ g9550 with 128gb internal storage, 6gb RAM, and dual sim capable may be purchased, please post the link.
Thanks in advance.

it won't be available until May 25th. Wait and check on Ebay ^^
Hong-kong version ( probably 9550 ) will have dual sim 6gb ram and 128 gb internal. Earlyer today was announced by samsung.
To use 2xsim and sdcard you'll have to cut your sim card. A lot of step by step videos are to be found on youtube ( S7 S7 edge, huawei mate dual sim hack)

Dual sim and 128GB. BUT snapdragon ^^
I think the seller in Hong Kong is lying about having stock because of the long delivery time of mid June!
I've got the 6GB Korean version ( I'm in Korea ) and it's not dual sim it's single, also I'm pretty sure the Hong kong version that also has 6gb has not got exynos but snapdragon for the Chinese market.
I have preordered the Chinese SM-G9550.
It has 6gb ram, 128gb storage and has the dual sim or memory card option which is quite a common set up with the Chinese models.
I preordered on the 13th and paid on the 22nd of MAy. so, it's been some wait and I suppose it might arrive Monday 29th or Wednesday I am guessing.
You'll find them difficult to come by for a bit I expect.
Just got notification of it being sent out. Woot!
Just received mine from the seller in Hong Kong ordered previous week.
SM-G9550.
6GB RAM, 128GB storage and has the dual sim or memory card option.

I now own the SM-G9550 6+128Gb version
It is dual sim/storage option. So you can either select the extra sim, or the extra memory option for mine. Only seemed to be one option when I bought it, but the other 64gb SM-G9950 I see have a range of options, including single sim or dual sim.

I don't know much about buying or selling though - can't help you with that.
Cheers.
I picked my 9550 (128gb/6gb/SD) up from Suning in Hong Kong on Friday and was surprised that it was the hybrid sim/micro sd tray so either 2 sim operation or sim and micro sd... Or you could perform some surgery to your micro sd and fuse it to your sim card to get 2 sims and micro sd
