Hi all,
donno if some other guys faced this problem. when im sending sms longer than 160 letters the message is not sent still im charged for one sms as being sent but actually the sms was not sent and it will remain in the draft box :SSSS
plz can someone tell me if im doing something wrong here!
guys????? where are the brains?
It could be yours that's missing.... disable the unicode messages as on ALL PHONES AVAILABLE TODAY (and tomorrow)
oh im sure u think u have a brain too, if i wanna disable the unicode how can i send sms later in other than english??????? and im sure it doesnt have anything with the prob im talking about.
but thanx for using ur brain for such a CLEVER comment.
AND UR A SENIOR MEMBER .... WAAAAW
Sending SMS in unicode means you get 70 characters, because of "special" language specific characters like the hungarian öőüűéáóú....
Sending SMS in "normal" means you'll lose all the special character, thus you'll get something like this oouueaou...
There's no way around it, not on regular phones, not on SmartPhones, nor on WM.
@ wesram: Just out of curiosity, what are you sending via SMS? Love letters? Literature? Books?
I use unicode (because I need letters like čćžšđ) and I never need more than 70 letters in SMS.
For longer stuff I use e-mail... or call other person.
SMS = Short Message Service

wawww thats new, this is the first time i know that u cannot send more than 1 sms (160/70) u sould contact the operatrs and tell them this brilliant idea.
and thanx for the lesson about unicode. but still till the moment i dont think u got what i mean from the beg. !!!!!
the problem is when the characters exceeds 160 or 70 the message is not sent. and yes it works on all the other phones )) try to test it if u can afford to lose credits )

wawwwwwwwwwwww thats clever tooooooo,
i wonder did u get it urself or searched for it over the net ??? sms=short message service )))
if it was only that u can send 1 sms only (160 or 70) then why in the hell they let u write more than 165/2 or 76/2 and even u can send up tp 5 sms in one shot only.
and yes beleive it or not some people can send more than 1 sms and they can afford it, if u cant i think it will be ur own problem and i can send u some credit ))))
Standard question... Hard Reset?

Hey guys,
i am searching for for a solution to get notified about delivery of sent sms. i know that i can enable it but than i always get an SMS from "System Administrator". Is there any way to just get a popup "message delivered"?
I mean even my further mobile phone of sony ericsson had this feature
Thanks for your tipps

If you install HD Tweak then there is a setting in there that will notify you of a message being sucesfully being sent; I use it!
Owen.
jgui sms report eraser is one solution. Unfortunately it 10 euros.
Although you get delivery reports in the same style as you mentioned, it will do it silently and can erase or transfer them to delivery reports folder immediately or after a set period.
So you can check if you need to know if its been delivered, but otherwise be undisturbed.
That's the option I use in the face of not having found a better one..
Edit - realised there is a freeware version available as well. Don't know if it has all the options though.

Yes, you can do that. It is really simple. If you have a registry editor, this is what you have to change:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings
Change "SMSNoSentMsg" value from 1 to 0 in order to get the confirmation!
Another way of doing exactly that is to install the cab file I am attaching.
Thank you guys for your replies!
But Owendavies and Chris Cross Solution is the one i mentioned in my first post?

So i will check out the jgui sms report eraser, but it´s freeware in the standard version, can´t find a big difference to the pro version
i tried the hd tweak for delivery reports
but i'm still getting a text to say its been delivered
which is actually quite annoying lol
i like to know that the message has been delivered but i just want it to tell me, rather than sending a text
i have unticked the stand message options and used the hd tweak version but i'm still getting a text
any ideas please thanks
I don't think that somebody has figure it out yet.
Hey everyone.
Does the "feature" where the sms one pressed is selected after all the other sms's are loaded, suddenly interrupting the writing, ever bother you guys?
I wonder if it's possible, as per the image below, "move out" the reply button from the menu list as a shortcut.
My programming skills lack here but I'd gladly make a reply icon if any of you geniuses would be able to do this.

Interested. +1
I'm surprised not more people are bothered by this
Do the programmers think this is doable?
Would be good
I would like it too. +1

no its going to the message thread and you have to press on that box where you can type text before you can start with ur reply.. wich costs a tremendous ammount of time. *sarcastic mode*
I dont get the idea of fix behidn this?? Isnt that just moving the reply shortcut, it would still open the same messaging window loading all the messages still...?

Hum, so it's depend on your ROM.
On mine [Artemis], this goes in reply's mode [I'm in conversation's mode].

Remember you have to take the version of your language ROM. [the .dll of that topic is for ENG version].
Very good idea I think I don't want in that hole conversation mode. It is slow and it takes time.

I don't really follow what you're talking about.
I am using the latest Messaging.
Let me try to explain again.
When one presses the actual message, the conversation mode comes up and the sms's start loading. As soon as all the sms's finish loading, the message you had pressed becomes highlighted.
If you are writing meanwhile the messages are loading, as soon as the messages finish loading you won't see what you're writing anymore.
I've tried Artemis v14 and it was the same there.
I don't think there is a ROM that doesn't have this "feature", but if there is, please enlighten me.
If it's still unclear I could try to make a video, but I am sure that the latest HTC Messaging does not solve this, since I am using the latest one.
This is why I want the reply button out there. When pressing the reply button, no sms will be highlighted and you can write your text easily.
It is not a matter of being lazy, as I saw someone else mention earlier, but if you encounter this I don't know, maybe 20-30 times a day I ensure you it will get to your nerves!
Let me repeat myself, the thing bugging me is not that it doesn't go directly to the reply box, but that when the text you just pressed becomes highlighted, you don't see what you write anymore!
I have a similar problem.
When replying to a SMS, the messaging client loades all SMS you have in your contact box [and lagged the client] and when it finished, the keyboard comes over the typing SMS. So you can't see what you were writing.
But I merely remember a ROM |WinMo 6.5] where the messages are in the same mail client, just like on WinMo 6.1 [where mail and SMS where in the same messaging client].

Many things that we have on the SPRINT side of things are disabled or limited BECAUSE SPRINT ROM's have certain things which other ROM's do NOT and therefore, sometimes limit our abilities to do things... At thesame time, disabling/changing these settings give us almost unlimited usability ... jejeje
Anyway, when sending MMS, SPRINT DOES NOT HAVE A LIMIT on the network (like AT&T has, VERIZON too) but they put limits on THE PHONE itself which causes the "LIMIT" to appear to be a NETWORK issue... BUT ITS NOT!!!
Took me a WHILE to find this registry setting but I FOUND IT!!! jejeje [I AM CURRENTLY RUNNING THE TANGO V1 8773, by ANSAR]
Go to the REGISTRY EDITOR and navigate to this entry:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\ShortMsg\MMS\Profiles\Sprint\MS
The MS entry should have a "Value Data" of "2000", change this to "51200" press "OK"
You should now see the MS entry have "0x0000C800 (51200)"
Ohhh Yeah baby, thats it!!! You are done my friends... Go wild sending multiple videos and pictures because the size should not be an issue anymore!!! ... jejeje
I am almost certain this will work with other ROM's as long as they are for the GOLD_C (HTC Arrive) but I have not tried it on another yet...
IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR THE SMS 160 CHARACTER LIMIT, SEE MY OTHER POST HERE:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1615966
I CANT STRESS THIS ENOUGH: THANK YOU ANSAR FOR THE CUSTOM ROM AND ALL DEVELOPERS THAT HELPED UNLOCK OUR PHONES
AND OF COURSE, DONT FORGET TO HIT THE "THANKS" BUTTON IF THIS HAS HELPED YOU!!! JEJEJE
Didn't work on my Arrive. I typed a message that significantly longer than 160 characters and it still greyed out the send button and prompted "message too long."
It lists (51200) as the value....
Sorry maybe I misinterpreted. I thought this was refering to the 160 character limit. But obviously I need to read and pay attention. This is about the size of an mms message.

Im looking into the 160 limit... Hope I have it today... The registry is EXTREMELY long and so far, I have found many many entries but none for the character limit...
EDIT: THIS HAS BEEN FOUND, SEE FIRST POST FOR LINK!!!
But rest asured that I am looking into that because it annoys me too... looking for that entry is how I came across this one (it reminded me of my WinMo days... jejeje)

Good stuffs...I can't wait till it is found...surprised it hasn't been discovered by now...its almost like people have tried and run into a wall or found that it there is no "easy" registry fix for it...cuz c'mon you dont think by now someone annoyed or motivated as us hasn't done been down this path already and tried to... Yet everyone stays hush hush about it and then you get the just deal with it till there a oem release. Its a conspiracy i tell ya LOL!

When the unlocked ROMs first came out I sat down and probably spent a few hours searching for where this limit would be at but I couldn't find anything relevant. My guess was either a registry value was missing or it's labeled weird. Our best chance at finding this problem would probably be to ask our fellow CDMA users or 7 pro users to look through their registry and find all the values that correspond with SMS. But I haven't had the time or patience to do that So someone else could ask around for it and then compare it with our registry. That would be the simple way to do it I would think.

I have already looked and found the proper registry entries that allow the OS to send messages over 160 characters. The message does not get sent and many minutes later you get an error that the message could not be sent. I found this by comparing settings with the Verizon Trophy settings. It seems to me that it's not a registry issue but a dll issue. The Windows Phone OS needs to do the splitting of the messages before they are sent to the network, but it does not. The Verizon network most likely supports the splitting of the messages over the network when Sprint does not. I think the fix needs to come from Microsoft since Sprint can't just go and change the way their network works. I'm guessing the reason MS hasn't done anything is because Sprint doesn't seem to want to support Windows Phones and it may not be worth it for MS to do this for only one phone. Speculations, of course.

Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Cellular\SMS\Router]
"CDMAConcatenation"=dword:0
Changing the above from 0 to 1 allows for the "message is too long" to go away and lets you send a longer message. This is a known registry settings among the chefs, btw. I tested others to make sure I wasn't missing anything that might work, but nothing else worked. This one is the head of the snake. There is no easy solution yet, as far as I know. MS has to make the SMS app do the concatenation process seamlessly if it is not supported by the network.

Hi guys.
Im from Portugal and we use special characters when writing like "à ã é" etc..usually we can use 160 characters per sms but for some reason if we use those special characters some bug happens that reduces characters to 60 per sms!!(or something like that). That almost triples the cost of the message. Now wtf is this? How can google let this happen? Is there a way around it?i tried gosms but it does not have an option to disable special characters. My girlfriend has a galaxy S2 and it is on stock rom modified by Vodafone Portugal and she can use those special characters and the bug does not happen. So i assume that vodafone has changed something. I am on 4.0.4 (not official, i flashed it from the nexus s android development)
Any help?
I'm currently on my G2(gingerbread) and just tried this. They all still count as one character. Never noticed this on my nexus though. If you don't get a response by the time I get home, I can check from the nexus to be sure

It's not a bug. It's the way the characters are being "translated".

I am using the modified mms apk from our nexus s section but what the app does is use "e" instead of "é". It sucks that i cant write correctly. On my girlfriends phone(stock, as mentioned earlier on first post) she can use special characters normally. Isnt there a way to keep using special characters instead of them being converted to normal characters?
