Turn off vibrate on startup? - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Is it possible to turn off the short vibration on when the phone restarts?
My TP auto softresets every morning at 6 am and every morning it scares the hell out of me with it's nasty vibration sound.

It does it to me too so i'd be interested in this.

Isn't the vibrate part of the Boot-Up self-test routine to make sure the vibro thingie is working in the hardware. All Nokia phones also do this.

Put your device on something soft and you won't hear the vibration as much, or change the time that it softresets.

[HELP] Low vibrations

Hello, i have a little problem, when I had my old phone HTC Artemis (P3300) I had it mute and set only on vibration. When i had my phone in pocket I felt it everytime when i had incoming phone call or sms. Now with my Leo, whe i set my phone to vibration only mode I often didn't recognize if someone really calling. Don't feel anything... Is it possible that Leo has lower vibration than my old Artemis?
If yes, is any way how to make it vibrate more?
ThX
set it to vibrate not silent and see if it helps
dunno about vibrating more or something. not sure if it is posible... all I know is there is an app i had see in opnmarket that changes the vibration pattern. see if that helps too
cheers
Do you have a rubber case on? I also had this issue and when I removed the rubber case the vibration was stronger.

Vibrating while on a call?

"You know what really grinds my gears..."
Why does the phone vibrate when on a call? Seriously - this should be built into the operating system. A notification sound will suffice. It's so annoying to have a vibrations all on your earlobes. Is there a way (app) to configure this? Anyone else feel me or am I making a big deal about this?
Never noticed mine vibrate,
what is the notification for?
I turn off all in-call notifications though.

In-call notifications? Where is that? The vibrations come from sms messages.
Never noticed that.. but I have had the 'smart alarm' go off while I was talking on the phone. Was quite convenient.
And apparently it is audible enough to hear on the other end as several people have inquired as to what the noise was.

Mine doesn't vibrate when on call. Just gives a beep, maybe because I turn off vibrating notification in the sound and display setting
Wow. So I'm the only one that uses vibration for text messages? Also noticed it vibrates while charging - this also mystifies me because I don't see why anyone would need it to vibrate while being charged. Is this not common sense? I wonder if this happens with other android devices?

No, this happened to me several times. I eventually just turned off the vibrations all together. I agree, it would be nice to get a notification tone in the ear if you have the vibrate function on.
Have you tried Handcent SMS? It has great customizations for the vibration feature, among other things. Even different vibration patterns for distinct individuals. Give it a shot - might be what you're looking for.

I need the vibrate alert far too much to disable it all together. I rarely hear my phone, but almost always feel it.

Why would you not want it to vibrate while charging? During calls I could see (I have the same complaint actually), but why during charging?
+1 for a solution to this. Way too annoying when your on a call and you get a txt message but turning off vibrate is not an option.

Well, if the phone is charging its obviously plugged in. If its plugged in, its not in my pocket...its probably on a table or desk. Why do I want it to vibrate on the desk? If I'm not touching it, I can't feel it so an audible alert is good enough...
Its annoying sure, but I don't make enough phone calls for it to be really a bother. Oh well.

Is there a phone in the market that upon sensing external power it automatically switches notification type? Pike
I've had a quite a few smart phones (or so I thought) and don't recall any if them doing that.
Then again, if it's charging, it's not in your pocket. Switch notification to audible and problem solved. Takes all of one second.

All of my previous phones were running Symbian - none of them vibrated while on the phone or charging (moot point really).
Who wants to remember to switch their notifications to anything after a phone event happens? While you're at it, why not tell people to make sure they turn off their ringtones when they place or receive a call. Same logic. Doesn't make much sense to me...
I agree. Other phones I've had don't turn vibrate off when plugged in. I think they should, but they don't. So you can't really call this a "defect" with the Captivate.
However, I don't recall any of the other phones I've had vibrating in your ear when you are on a call. To me, that is a oversite with the dialer app and should be fixed.
I agree with you. I have had the think vibrate my ear off a few times.
One thing that really pisses me off is the dialer with an incomming call. ITs a pain in the ass to actually answer the call. Intead of it answering when you swipe, you have to go through 3 steps:
-Swipe
-pick end call or hold call
-swipe again to answer.
Im going to start a new thread to see if anyone knows how to answer call waiting instantly without these steps.
Here's an app I quickly made that disables the notificiation vibrator when in a call. It is a very simple/minimal app with no icons to run, or settings to change. Just don't uninstall while in a call or the vibrate setting will remain off. I only tried it with Call + Gmail vibrate.

Got ya.
Its just a matter of how i use my phone. When my phone is charging, most of the time its on vibrate and i feel the vibration in the table/desk or hear it on my night stand.
I just didn't make the jump in logic.

First off, my apologies for not proof reading my poor swyping abilities.
What I was trying to state is that if it bothers you so much that the phone should ring as opposed to vibrate when plugged in , it just takes a second to change the notification type. Not sure what is there that doesn't make sense?
The vibrating in your ear, is totally understandable, hence why i didn't comment on that. IF my phone vibrated while it's on my ear, i'd be upset too.

I don't think you have sms vibrations set or maybe you're using non-stock rom - it's under the messages application. You had me for a minute cause I never checked call settings\all calls. Nonetheless - no that doesn't work. It still vibrates on a call.

Thanks I appreciate the effort. Unfortunately it seemed to turn off the vibrations all together. Lol. Even when I'm not on a call it doesn't vibrate. Can we get a second iteration? Please?
Thank you guys for the Handcent and ChompSMS suggestions. These seem to handle the message events the way I expect as they allow for in-call vibration alert customizations. Unfortunately they take over and get rid of my message puzzle pieces (cheezy I know, but I've grown to like those little things). I'm so picky - but that's what great about android right? Endless customizations!
I defintely would be interested in a less intrusive way to deal with the issue (i.e NoInCallVibrate)

Issues with the Vibrate Volume Setting

Received my Sensation directly from T-Mobile last week and noticed that I was missing alot of phone calls and messages. I always have my phone set to vibrate, so I originally thought the issue was simply that the Sensation didn't vibrate quite as hard as my old phone (MT4G).
Anyways, I called my Sensation from my work line to see what was going on.
1/3 of the time the phone would not vibrate at all
1/3 of the time the phone would vibrate once and then go silent
1/3 of the time the phone would continually vibrate as expected
Restarted the phone a few times, same problem.
Factory reset, problem still there.
Anyone else run into this issue?
I am having this issue as well. I have an email into HTC. Mine only vibrates when I turn it on. So I know it can vibrate.

Let me know what you hear back
Did you guys hear anything or what was your final solution. I just noticed today that mine is NOT vibrating. I have done factory reset and checked everything. I missed a lot of calls today because of this. I always have my phone on vibrate and don't like the ringer.
Same problem here. Took delivery of the Sensation today: no haptic feedback, novirate on connect and no vibration when ringer set to vibra. Any idess?

I have the same problem - did you get a fix?

[Q]{Possible bug} Phone does not ring while charging

Twice now this has happened today:
Phone is on wireless charger for some time (over 30 min, less than 2 hrs)
Incoming call comes in
Phone vibrates but does not ring (I have calls set to do both), but otherwise looks/acts normal (wakes up, displays caller, etc.)
After the call is completed I put the phone back on the charger and place a test call to it. Both vibration and ringtone work as they should.
My only hypothesis thus far is that the phone doesn't ring the first time after the phone locks during charging, but this is probably not correct.
1. Has anyone else experienced this issue; and if so, how should I/we notify google if they haven't been already
2. Any ideas on how to fix this
FYI I have unlocked BL and root but otherwise stock.
This is happening also to me(and not only during the charging), i have set both of them(ring and vibrate),after a long period of inactivity it only vibrates, after this it works fine until it gets a long period of inactivity again..?
Is this a hardware issue?
There is a bunch of other posts about a problem with the speaker working intermittently. I have the same issue (unrelated to charging or not). I can check every ten minutes and half the time sound is working, the other half silence. Seems like a serious bug (or hardware fault?).

I tend to belive it's a software issue, else the speaker works just fine.
Discovered this morning that my alarm doesn't seem to work when charging. Could this be related at all?
It's not related to charging as I have got this multiple times without having the phone charging.
Also, I noticed that sometimes in some apps, sound doesn't work either.
I have the same issue, It doesn't seem to be related to charging for me as well. My phone will ring for one second and then vibrate from then on. I find that it works normal after rebooting for the first call and then after that it happens again for every call there on after. I am completely stock 5.0 btw

How Do I Turn Off ALL Vibrations?

Hello everyone,
About 8 months ago I dropped my Pixel. I was pretty upset, had only had it a month, but all it did was put a dent right where the opening for the speaker is. Sound worked, screen wasn't cracked, I was happy.
Well, 8 months have gone by and about 2 days ago I think the mesh that covers the speaker has turned loose from the case. Again, no big deal, it's still there, sound still works, etc. BUT ... now I get this HORRIBLE metal rattle every single time the phone vibrates.
Does anyone know how to turn off ALL vibration for the phone?
I've gone through Settings -> Sounds and turned it off for phone calls and touches. I've gone through some individual apps like Hangouts and Messages and turned it off for those app's notifications. But there are so many times the phone vibrates.
How do I turn off the vibrate for when you unlock with the fingerprint sensor? How do I turn off the vibrate for when you double click the power button to quick launch the camera?
If anybody knows how to disable ALL vibration on the phone I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Chris Williams
Don't think you can disable the fingerprint vibration or the camera vibration unless you're running a custom rom. You could try and run a custom kernel that let's you set the vibration intensity. You could then set it to 0 and the vibration motor won't work anymore.
