Samsung omnia and Garmin Mobile XT maps - General Topics

Hi everybody, I'm trying really hard to get Garmin Mobile XT installed in my device, since Garmin is the only one who has maps for my region (Qatar).
I was able to install the program and it works perfectly (GPS and all) but I still cannot make it recognize my map. I used Garmin Maploader to load the GMAPSUPP.IMG file, GMAPSUPP.UNL has been generated correctly as well but still doesn't work.
Maybe is something related to folder structure, since I installed it into /My storage but I actually have two folders:
/Garmin
-ERRLOG.TXT
-Garmin Mobile XT.exe
-GARMIN.NVM
-GARMIN_ARTE.NVM
-GARMIN_FLASH.NVM
-GARMIN_MDB.NVM
-GARMIN_MPM.NVM
-GARMIN_TRIP.NVM
-GARMIN_WPT.NVM
-GarminDevice.xml
-Que.exe
/MyStorage/Garmin
/Apps
/EULA
/Help
/Vehicle
-GMAPSUPP.IMG
-GMAPSUPP.UNL
-SW.UNL
Then I have another Garmin Mobile XT.exe under /MyStorage
All this has been created while installing Mobile Xt v42050w and the upgrade to v50010w selecting /MyStorage as a destination folder
Does someone have a clue about what my issue is?
Thanks in adv to everybody!

After battling for 2 days to just get the software (Garmin XT) to work on my new phone I found the following, which may help you.
-GMAPSUPP.UNL - This is the UNLOCK code for the MAP installed (GMAPSUPP.IMG and GMAPBMAP.IMG in my case)
-SW.UNL - This is the UNLOCK code for the software to run
If I was you I would backup the memory card, uninstall the app, run the recovery app from the Garmin CD to reinstall it to the memory card, insert into phone and boot up the phone. Copy the 2 .UNL files into the \Garmin Folder on the memory stick.
Good luck as Garmin locally could not help me at all...

Hello I'm trying to get the Garmin XT softaware; can anybody here tell me where I can get it. Thanks in advance

Can you be more specific?
Which actions do you perform? Input and output?
Usually it's just executing the cab file on your mobile and done.
When I try to install the tomtom cab it hangs at the first block of the progress bar.
And when I try to install mc guider it tells me that it's not an original SD card?
Even though when I try to install the Dusk theme it doesn't too??
I think it's a bit strange?
A little update.
TomTom is running
Now I need to install the maps I don't have any idea yet how to do that?
Can someone help me with that?
Thanks.

With my install on the TouchPro² it was somehow included, the map already had to be copied on the SD card.
Installing a new map, I don't know. I've the Benelux now and I want to install the Europe but the guide is written in unclear broken English. You have to use Easyinstall or something :S.
Help WilcoD or help me
Hey Wilco,
i've got a diamond 2 too. first you've gotta have frameNET 3.5 installed on your phone. Then download the map you wanna use, i've got western and central Europe 2GB version. And first let it be placed on your pc.
Then install 'easy activator' on your pc, and run the program. Running it speaks for itself.
Then instal the maps on your TD2, on the sd. And get the 'voice fix' file and place that in the 'navigator' folder.
And your good to go.
Good luck
All sorted out, works like charm now

Install Cabs via ActiveSync/Windows Mobile Device Center

I found a way to get cabs to install via ctiveSync/Windows Mobile Device Center. Previously I have came to a problem that it does not run as administrator. With a combination of CABviaAciveSync and Always Run as Administrator I have solved this problem.
To get the latest of each go here:
CABviaActiveSync
Always Run as Administrator
Use ARAA to make "CABviaActiveSync.exe" ARAA and then you should be able to install via ActiveSync/Windows Mobile Device Center!
As a side note I'd like to mention that if you use this plus AppToDate will make it even easier. After a hard reset (can't figure out how to cook my own rom... yet) all I have to do is install my old version of the app then AppToDate updates them all!
Very nice. I have found it's just as easy to load any cab file onto the micro SD card, and run the cab file from the SD card on the phone...

Thats what I have been doing but after many flashes its gets a tad annoying. I'm also aware of programs that will install a complete folder of cabs but I just prefer using the computer. I do keep all the cabs on my SD too just in case i have to Hard-Reset on the go.
will this work on windows 7 x32?
using htc hd2 phone

Make rom file from PND?

Dear,
I am new on this forum therefore I do apologyze if I am posting at the wrong place
I have a nearly no name GPS (Magnum PND 2735) with Navigon on it.
It has Windows CE 5.0 on it (some references if it can help/ 00039-267-519-955 and X11-1532).
On the internet I found a program called MioPocket (MP, I can't post a link here, google will find it easyly for you). It allows you to get acces to the OS of your GPS and also allows to use other GPS programs (with a handy user interface).
Now I first used an older version of it with no problem. Then I installed the latest version and I had some troubles with some softwares so I decided to remove it again an reinstall it. Unfortunately it must have gone wrong; Now the GPs does not start, I have the startup screen working and then nothing starts. I suppose some drivers must have been deleted.
Now I have acces to my GPS with a USB cable to my computer. I have acces to the root of the GPS (Windows) but a lot of files are secured.
I have a friend with exactly the same GPS. He copied a maximum of files (able to copie) for me but it didn't work.
As a lot of files a locked I looked out for a rom file but did not find one. After a lot of research I found this friendly forum. I know my problem has not to do with HTC phones but the solution might be the same.
I would like to know if it would be possible (and how) to make a rom file from the OS on my friend's GPS and then how to install it to my GPS.
Is there specific software requested? Is there a procedure on how to make a rom file from a mobile device? Is it possible to make a rom file from any mobile device?
I do hope anyone can help me, I was so happy with my GPS.
First of all I thank everyone on this forum, you are all friendly and helpful.
