Hello guys, I am new to this forum. I have searched for an answer to my problem already, but couldn`t find any. I have downloaded opera mini for XDA Orbit 2 (same as Touch Cruise). I used the HTC Touch download for it, as a HTC Cruise option was not available...I like it alot, its a fast browser, but how can I put text into the address bar without a hardware keypad? I guess its a simple answer to a stupid question, but I have no access to my software keypad once opera is started. Only option is: "Add symbol" and that is very unconveniant...
Thanks in advance, pTx
I was having this problem in my rokr E6 before and i fix it doing the folowing step.
go to setting and (uncheck the direct address input) and it will be ok
*yawn*
I've answered this question too in my MIDlet Bible... please DO USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION EITHER HERE OR IN THE BLOG!!!
In a nutshell: assign bringing up the SIP to a HW button and you're set...
Thank You! Your nutshell helped.
Actually I did use the search function, but as You probably know yourself, sometimes the search term is not 100% fitting->thus no success. I tried several with no answer at hand. Sometimes not so easy for non-native speakers...This may explain my question. If no one would ask questions or no one would answer them the forum would be pretty empty, wouldn`t it? If You think this question has been posted tons of times, You may delete the thread anyway.
Greetings from Magdeburg, Germany, pTx
Hi
a newbie here - so sorry my first post is a question (though i have tried doing searches first for the answer - but to no avail)
I've (somehow!) upgraded my Mini-S to TNT-19213 - fantastic interface etc
However, when it comes to input options, I just have
"Block recogniser"
"Keyboard"
"Letter recogniser"
....but no longer do i have "PhonePad"
any thoughts on how i can get this back? Many thanks
Hi
from looking around, i think i'm right in thinking that the PhonePad (T9 input etc for text messages etc) doesnt come with WindowsMobile-6.1 ? ....and so you have to use a 3rd party product
If this is the case, could anyone suggest a good one to install?
Many thanks
With my TyTN = Hermes and WM6.0 the autosuggestion of words seems much better than the Raphaels (at least in the hardware keybord stance).
Can someone explain why that is or if I have haven´t understood the utility or something else right?
With TyTN it basically suggests 4 alternatives in a diagonal way, it can be one word or SEVERAL words in a row, depending on what I´we written before. And you choose from them with the upp and down arrow keys. Simple and quick.
With Raphael it suggests several ONLY singular words horisontally, and if it´s not in the dictionary it automatically chooses another word than the one you´we just written (!?). Slow and awkward.
Also - who is behind this solution? Windows Mobile 6.1 or is it HTC Raphaels unique solution?
Thanks in advance
/Danne
Anybody have an opinion or information on this matter?
At least the system is a part of WM6.1 or if it´s Raphaels unique solution? Because I´m thinking about buying a Kaiser with WM6.1 instead and wonder if it has the same solution.
Sorry, no additional info, but I'm in the same boat so to speak.
I find it completely useless, specially since I don't always use English in my SMS messages, and I found that it becomes a nightmare if it doesn't find a match and then forces my word to something it thinks it should be.
What I cannot understand is that under Settings-Personal-Input-Word Completion - I have DISABLED it, but it still friking tries to complete my words, even in keyboard mode???
Do you know of another place to disable this dastardly excuse of a feature?
HAH!
Found it! If you want to disable it completely, the do the following:
1) make sure you disable it under settings - all settings - personal - Word Completion.
2) When you open a new message, bring up the virtual keyboard and look for the button that reads "ABC T9" - it has a toggle on the button, make sure it is on "ABC" and NOT T9 -voila!
Now I can SMS again!
I´m glad I was not the only one being irritated about this. But at least it´s possible to turn it off, so thanks for posting the solution Piie
I actually returned my TP because of this and severeal other reasons but I´m thinking about buying it again or some other WM6.1 phone. So do you know if your solution to turn if of works with Word Mobile documents as well?
And still, if somebody knows if it´s part of Raphael or WM6.1, please let me know.
Agreed 100% on the uselessness of word completion feature on the TP. On mine, the T9 feature actually slows the sms application so much as to make it completely unusable. This is probably my biggest complaint with this device.
Yip, following the steps as posted also removes the predictive text completely for Word ( and all other apps I have used so far)...
Thanks piie
I believe its part of the TP keyboard (SIP) not WM6.1 , when i had my kaiser with wm6.1 this "IRRITATING" issue was not there, but when i installed the diamond keyboard on my kaiser, this thing came out...... now its part of the TP because of its keyboard.......... so its HTC
I was getting annoyed with the behavior described in posts 1 and 2, disableds the whole thing too (I had an Excalibur before and it seemed to work far better on this particular aspect).
However, I decided to give the TP's T9 another shot and started changing it's configurations and finally got rid of the annoiance related: when on a text field, bring up the T9 options by pressing "Fn" + "Space", select "T9" settings and on the screen that appears uncheck the "Spell Correction" and "Auto-substitution" boxes.
Now I'm using the word prediction (T9) again just like I used in my old device, tipying much faster! (specially because I commonly write in portuguese and my keyboard is the UK one...).
Hope this helps you guys.
Cheers.
Sweet!
So you can still have predictive text, but remove the actual "irritant" of it overriding your word if it doesn't match it's dictionery - seems like that is the answer to your problem Danne?
For me - I really don't care for ANY kind of prediction - most often than not, even in English, the suggestions are maybe 30% usefull if that...
Great!
Yes, this is solution and now I know it´s part of Raphael/Diamond and not WM6.1!
Still, the Hermes WM6-solution with prediction of several words based on what you previously have written seems better. But I am happy with this!
I guess that´s the last words for me in this discussion.
Thanks guys!
just wondering how to disable word completion without installing htc ezinput, because at input settings by disabling it, doesn't work at all.
here's everything you need to know on how to get back to the old style autocorrect and change your dictionaries: http://www.fuzemobility.com/?p=1527
That however breaks your hardware keyboard
sym key will stop working and you can't get pound and euro sign using FN key....

I received my HTC Diamond2 (English) few days ago. This is my first pocket PC, and, this is my first contact with Windows Mobile. So, please excuse me if I don't know something obvious.
Well, I installed Advanced Japanese IME, as I need to read and write in Japanese. With a lot of trouble, I finally found a way to switch languages. To do this, I have found a small program called "kbdswitch", which works well now.
But, I would like to create an icon in the position between "START" and the system icons at the top of the screen. An icon like the one created by PQz2 will be perfect, and I would like to assign "kbdswitch.exe" to it. This way, the icon is almost always visible and I can run "kbdswitch" to switch languages.
Is there a way to do this. I will greatly appreciate any hint going in this direction...
Does anyone know how to have these in WinMobile 6.5 ???
Come on guys !!!
I really need Block Recognizer/Letter Recognizer back to my PDA.
Does anybody know to get it ??????
I'm using a cooked ROM form NRGZ.

Chosoe "Letter Recognizer or Block Recognizer"

Windows Mobile 6.5
In Windows Mobile 6.5 on the HTC Touch2, there is no "other input methods" on the menu. Has anyone been successful in finding the Block Recognizer?

There's no option to do that. I already tried !
I'm asking for some .cab, some program that can put it back !
I need it too
please, help
I found this using the search feature of this board : http://www.giesecke.tk/xda/index.php?dir=Old_ROM%2FWM+6.1%2FEssential%2F You'll see it's called 'block recog.cab'
Took me all of 15 seconds
you are very quick and thank you
but that cab is for wm6.1 and I already had it :=)
we need some help for wm6.5, where the block recogniser is realy hardly disabled
I need it too.
The onscreen keyboard is drinving me crazy.
If i would have known that there is no letter recogition i would have kept my old phone.
Letter Recognizer or something near.
After a good bit of searching and a number of trials I think that I have found something that you might find useable.
Take a look at MobileWrite for Windows Mobile by InkMark Software. Not free but reasonably priced.
My first PDA was a Palm III and since then i have become quite good at the type o letter recognition that Palm had. I have had it in every PDA and phone everv since. When i got my HTC Touch2 it was mighty disappointing that they had removed it. Seems kind of stupid to do that or did they forget ?
searching block recognizer as well.... thanks - now I at least know what it's called on english ROMs
I would have searched 'graffiti'
running 6.5.1 German ROM from Bulltrip
Hi,
I have been searching high and low for a solution to this problem too ...... it is driving my nuts !!!
Anybody got any updates/solutions?
Cheers
I'm still waiting as well
I have a Dimond2 with a stock 6.5 Telstra ROM. I see that there isnt the option of choosing Block/Letter recognizer...but....when I installed PhoneAlarm, it has the option in advanced settings to choose which input type you want as default upon startup. I had Letter Recognizer in there from a backup that I had from another phone...and when I restarted, the Letter Recognizer SIP appeared. Its still not in the list you can choose from, but it proves its in the ROM somewhere. Just need a hack to enable it to be chosen from the list.
I have asked in another forum and got this reply ....

Did not solve my problem but maybe it will help some of you gyus.
Good news for fellow sufferers !!!!!
After snooping around, trial and error and many heart stopping moments ..... I have found the solution to the problem.
Have managed to get the Letter Recognizer working well on my device. Still got 2 problems though:
1) Sometimes it can be a bit slow, and sometimes, not very accurate. But I think overall, it is still acceptable.
2) It is not able to switch between this SIP and the default Touch Input SIP. This is not an issue for those who use Letter Recognizer exclusively though.
Will post the steps soon.
Cheers

I'm going to sit here and hit F5 until your update comes through, and then I'm going to try it, and if it works I'm going to pour a six-pack of beer into this laptop for you.
