hi, I have a problem.. i bought toshiba portege g900, it has 800x480 display. im not able to find good video player for all known formats (divx, xvid avi, mpeg, 3gp, flv).
Build-in Windows media player can play 3gp nothing else (in whole 800x480 correctly).
DivX Player can play avi divx files in whole 800x480 too, but not smoothly (maybe too high compression, 180MB avi - 21minutes).
I tried other player such as TCMP (not able to play anything, not in 800x480), PocketMVP was case like TCMP.
CorePlayer was bliking video on screen, very strange.
Im noob at this so, please can you help me ? What should i do ?

i am having problems with converting my file's with my DVD to PDA converter!!
once it's been done my window media player on my qtek9100 (mda vario/xda mini s) wont play the movie file???
does any one know the best format to convert to???
or know any settings the files should be in??
please help!!!!
the problem is media player only plays wmv and mpeg if i remember. most dvd rips are in avi format. if you still want to continue using wmp then you need the codecs
but, to make your life easier i would recommend that you use tcmp or coreplayer. it's an app that can play virtually all kinds of video files
Cheers!!!!!!!!!:
Give this a shot.... and yes, use CorePlayer.....
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/mobiledvd/?en
Features:
Fastest possible conversion speed
Adjustable quality with real-time preview
No additional software needed on Pocket PC
DVD and video file sources
Conversion to both WMV and XVID formats
Possibility to convert entire movie or only some part
Dual core CPU support
Support for slow 200MHz Pocket PC devices
qVGA, VGA and square screen support
too bad you have to pay for that....
have you tried this
XVID4PSP but it also can:
import formats:
AVI DIVX ASF MPG MPE M2V MPEG VOB TS M2P D2V MOV QT 3GP HDMOV RM RAM RMVB RPX SMI SMIL MKV OGM WMV DVR-MS PMP FLV.
export formats:
PMP AVC, MP4 PSP AVC, MP4 PSP ASP, MP4 iPod, MP4 iPod 640, MP4 iPod Touch, MP4 iPhone, MP4 PS3, MP4 Xbox 360, MP4, AVI, AVI DV PAL, AVI DV NTSC, AVI Hardware, MPEG-2 PAL, MPEG-2 NTSC, MPEG2-TS, MPEG2-PS, FLV, MKV.
there are MANY MANY tweaks that can be done to help video play more smoothly. I use this to convert to .avi & wmv for my 8525 to play with tcmp.
also did I mention this is FREE....but donations are welcomed.
it also has output for:
Blackberry 8100, 8300, 8330
Toshiba G900
Sony Ericsson K610, K800
Motorola K1
Nokia 5700
I use the output option for "MP4 Blackberry 8830" which has the same screen res as mine...
also if you need DVD back-up software here is DVDFab HD Decrypter 4.1.2.0.
It allows you to only rip the main movie if so desired and dis-regard extra languages.
hhhhhhhhmmmmm...yeah........also FREEEEE.
I use DVD Decrypter and AutoGK to convert movies for playback with coreplayer....made a small tutorial HERE on doing it....the numbers I use are fine for 320x240 (QVGA) devices, probably best to double the filesizes and resolution for a 640x480 (VGA) device.
The movies are generally 2 pass XVid encoded with 128 VBR MP3 sound. Work fine on both software and hardware accelerated playback on the Hermes.
nice guide by the way....but since DVD decryptor is no longer supported it can not bypass the newer DVD encryption....so you'll constantly receive the error messages "Cylinder redundancy error"
Thats why you'll have to download and install the DVDfad HD decryptor from my post above which will bypass all dvd encryption on standard DVD's as well as HD and Blu-ray....to make a back-up of your legally bought DVD's of-course.
Also by default DVD Decryptor creates 1gb files when ripping the movie. You can go into , 'Tools', 'Settings' and on the ''IFO MODE" & "ISO MODE" tabs you will need to set "file Splitting" to "none". This way it creates a single 4gb+ .vob file which is the entire movie. Then import that into Xvid4PSP.
Xvid also allows you to import the multiple 1gb files and auto joins them to create 1 file just as in your guide also....
If original movie is larger that 4.74gb....Xvid4PSP also has "DVD shrink" incorporated into it which allows you to compress a movie to fit standard dvd.
hope this helps...
What is a typical size of a ripped movie with normal settings? I want to know what size memory card to get for this. cheers!
I saw this video a while back
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14iRsFcN1Qs
and noticed that the htc gallery was playing videos. Are all those videos in mp4 format? I thought they were originally AVI and thought that HTC put in DIVX support for the Leo, but on my Leo it's not finding any of my DIVX vids in the album. Any ideas?
Coreplayer works alright, but without graphics drivers it does have a hiccup in the framerate every so often even with the might of snapdragon.
HTC's albums have never played DIVX I'm afraid.
The ones in the album are probably MP4 or 3GP files.
Search for a utility called MP4forHD which someone on here made - it converts anything to MP4 - specifically for the Touch HD (which is the same resolution as the HD2).
Works a treat, and wasn't laggy on the HD - so I imagine it'll be better on the HD2
Yea guess I was just fooled by the DIVX watermark on some of the videos that were played in the link i posted. I thought I read somewhere that the HD2 played DIVX videos natively, but oh well.
Coreplayer is playing fine for me now - no skips once I increased the video and audio buffers (2048/512 I think).
Core Player
On my HD I could play AVI files using Core Player, on the HD2 the same files play the audio but the viseo is:
1. In small screen very "liney" and doubled, 2 images side by side.
2. In full screen the screen is blank.
Any ideas?

Now Coreplayer works for me. Thanks for settings
I did the test and played the same movie:
- in Avi with CorePlayer,
- in mp4 AVC with the HTC album
And there is absolutely no comparison. The Mp4 played through the HTC album viewer is far better, thanks to the hardware acceleration and the Snapdragon processor.
I uninstalled CorePlayer, and convert all my .avi movies with XDA HD Encoder, or directly with Xilisoft Ultimate.

maybe u have to set "directdraw" instead "qtv" in video settings
Actually, I do not understand why people want to keep on using Core Player.
The best movie player is already embedded in the HD2 itself in Photos/Videos album, because it has hardware acceleration.
CorePlayer is now a very old-fashioned software (2007) and the latest versions (1.35 and 1.36 are quite buggy).
Play your mp4 with the HTC video player and you will really see the difference.

yes true but to play divx or xvid files, coreplayer is still the best one,you dont need to convert it in mp4 and 1.36 is working just fine on my leo without bugs
where is the HTC video player located on the phone & will it play AVI files?
where are these setting changed?

menu/tools/preferences
select page
/video then change qtv to raw framebuffer
i got coreplayer to work perfect only with these settings
in preferences-->select page--->video---> than select GDI and smooth zoom
any different setup would show pixelated image(video)
While we're talking about CorePlayer, can it show subs? If so how?
Have searched through every settings now but i can't find any settings for subs.
If not, is there a player that plays DivX Xvid's with subs in srt or sub format?
CorePlayer plays almoast everything i can think of, and are working fine on HD2 here to.. Is CorePlayer dead now or what?
i don't think coreplayer can play subs , but tcpmp can...however i didn't try it on my hd2 and don't know if it works
tcpmp works fine set to either gdi or rawframebuffer
not tried subs but they should work too
biggest benefit of tcpmp over coreplayer is the price

Tcpmp works, you can use srt (and I think smi) subtitles. You have to use GDI as video driver to see them.
Colors
Do you like the colors of coreplayer (or tcpmp) out of the box?
I had to change them to custom, raise the contrast a bit and lower the brightness.
I find HTC album images a bit too dark instead (but I can't change)

ummm......ain't wma files audio only files?
For those who might be desirous to buy CorePlayer 1.36 I strongly recommand to be patient.
Indeed CorePlayer 1.36 is a dying software. CoreCodec is currently finalizing a version 2.0.
It would be useless to waste €30 on v1.36 now and probably have to pay later for v2.0.

Hi !
Is there a player able to play mkv 720p files ? It doesn't matter if it drop down resolution to fix in the one of the monitor.
I have tried TMCP but it crash as I select the files, coreplayer instead said that it do not support ac3....I think that it would be nice to add ac3 support to core player..
Why go through all this trouble? Just reencode the movie or just get a normal DVD Rip. I don't think there is a player for WinMobile that can play 720p. It will look like crap anyway.
yea I knew that I could easily ttry with a standard format...but I think that the only problem with the core player is the ac3 audi..I think that it can manage the mkv video part...
I think the limitation is imposed by the OS, not the hardware. And I also think you won't find a 720p WinMobile video player. You're not the first one asking about this and surely you won't be the last one.
hd2 cant handle 720p video, I tried on an android build - vplayer alpha(something like that).
It was really laggy.
i don't get it why is anyone even thinking about this... as the native resolution of the HD2 is less than 720p.... it's like watching bluray discs on an hd ready tv set... u can do it... but you don't need it...
Hello,
So I have had my TF300T for a week now, and I have the screen time out at 2 mins. I am using the app Mx Player to play .avi's. In the mx player app i have it set to keep the screen on. But after like after a random set of mins it stops the video and shows the last screen (video selection screen). Then the screen turns off after two minutes. This is probably an app bug, but are you guys having this problem? Do you think it is the app, the video file? If you have had this problem how did you fix it? I really like mx player... Any help would be much appreciated!
-Voiid
Edit: found out that the video wasn't in the right format
Supported video format for the Transformer Pad TF300 is: MP4 h264 and the audio needs to be AAC.
it is well known that video stops in middle..sometimes
it is unfortunate that mx player, dice player and bs player still cannot play all the videos well...... especially some full HD files like 1080p,720p MKV, MTS, M2TS videos due to the TF300 video format limit ( AVI, DivX, MPEG4, WMV, QuickTime, H.264 ).
to transfer MKV,MTS,TiVo,MPG movies to TF300 for enjoying in 720,1080p with these video players, you need a third party software to convert HD,full HD videos MKV, MTS, M2TS, FLV, TiVo, MOD, 3GP, MPG, etc to Asus Pad TF300.

Thank you so much for the help! I was starting to get worried that no one would help me.. thanks for the heads up that this is normal. So you say i need to convert the video to a better format. What is a good format? And what software are you talking about? if you need to send me a pm, go ahead. Thanks for the help!!
So with a lot of googling and a lot of time spent. I figured this out:
Supported video format for the Transformer Pad TF300 is: MP4 h264 and the audio needs to be AAC.
I tried MP4 h264 but using mp3 audio and it wouldn't work with the normal gallery but worked with MX Player(as it seemed, tested for an hour) with no problems or hick ups.
But i just tried a MP4 h264 using AAC audio and it does work with the normal gallery. I hope this helps someone else with the same issues i was having. I used DVDFab 8 to convert the file.
If you are having sound issues with mx player.. Use sw decoding
Better option is using dice player...
