ok, so the diamond forum has a thread on themes..however. it is pages and pages about sites that hold themes that you have to wade through only to find that none of them are VGA (all QVG or WQVGA etc)
so, how about we have a thread that links to or shows ONLY vga themes??
ONLY VGA THEMES!!!
I've been searching for hours for good VGA themes for SPB Mobile shell and not had a great deal of success.
so, if you have managed to find some good ones...link to them here or upload them here.
thanks
HEAR HEAR!!! TOtally agree with you mate, am also trying to find good themes, or at least an ORGANISED database to get those themes instead of them being all over the place.
Mmmmm..... so what do you mean by "VGA Only Theme" ?
Are you refering to the images (background etc) or to the whole look and feel?
I also presume that you are talking about Themes with TF3D disabled as by default - TF3D is true VGA?

That's what I was thinking...all tabs, all icons, and all tf3d apps (i.e. weather) is VGA to my understanding.
I was thinking more of themes that use MS rather than TF3D since I very quickly got bored with TF3D as it was all form and lack of function for me.
None of the TF3D themes I've seen improve on function: Clock taking up too much of screen, while the font size from date (day of week) is too small, and I can't even read the content of my next appointment (caused by font size & room on screen).
HTChome and its HHC are mostly (only ?) QVGA/WQVGA based.
I found HTC_Home_VGA.cab but that delivers unreadable fonts as well
It seems based on on a different HTChome.dll to be put in \windows that decrease the font to fit in the TINY -inoperable- boxes of a WQVGA screen.
Next, I found PJC_HTCHome.cab that delivers a properly readable screen ..... but ONLY with its built-in theme/icons. HHC (themes) does not operate properly with it, AND I saw that it stores its settings in different area of the registry.
Further I noted that using SecondToday was promising, but would NOT allow my agenda to be 'picked' on the second screen.
TF3D (when active) shows next agenda-item in too small a format, cannot be adjusted with either the Advanced-Configuration tool nor the DiamondTF3D config tool.
So... at the moment I have TF3D disables, and have PJC_HTChome on the 'primary' start screen (there, it IS showing the agenda item in a readable format).
I have SecondToday showing WLM, and BatteryStatus
Somehow in the process, I have lost the ability to QuickLaunch the AudioManager.
Perhaps that has a dependency on TF3D running ??
Status: Still no alternative themes for either TF3D, nor HTChome, and no properly working configuration manager.
I agree, which is why I dumped TF3D in the first place.
I have tried a few Mobile Shell themes and all have a few quirks in them, but on the whole they are getting better. there just aren't enough of them in VGA format

I have a few questions about Manila 2d that I have downloaded on my Samsung Omnia (VZ i910).
-How can you add contacts to your people menu?
-How can you add programs to the program menu?
*I have clicked on both, held each spot, but nothing happens.
-How can I set up my location for the weather tab?
*I have tried to click add location, but nothing works
-I have tried to download a new theme, however each and every time I do so (following directions) the interface only takes up 2/3 of the screen leaving a small area at the bottom under the different tabs of extra space. I had a feeling that perhaps the files I was downloading weren't QVGA, but I downloaded another and it still didn't work.
Also, is there a reliable Manila 2d that supports landscape? I heard some member here was working on it.
Any suggestions are welcomed.
hmmmmm
i too have the omina i910...iim about to install Manila on my phone...but too sure anymore...lol
how is it......

The landscape part, I would check the main M2D thread. I believe that Helmi was close to getting it done. Which version of M2D are you using? I ask because the version might actually be the reason why you can't get it to work properly. I have seen that problem a few times in the early versions of M2D, where people had all sorts of issues adding things to the launchers. Let us know so that we can help you out.
I just spent the last 3 hours getting all the nessary information to install Manila 2D on my Omnia. I got it working. now the only thing is the the flow menu that you use to navigate between all the features (Home, Contacts, Messages, Internet etc...) is 3/4 way down the screen its not at the bottom where it should be. so when i go to Contacts the flow menu is 3/4 way down but all my contacts go down to the bottom. is there anyway to fix this
Thanks
Hi,
I have just the otherday managed to upgrade my HTC Touch to an actual official WM6.1 OS supplied by HTC (belive it or not!). Since I bought the phone in Bangkok I have had to wait for the relese of the HTC Thailand upgrade.
It included the ThouchFLO 2d (which I recon sux....can't change a thing about it), but I really liked the big clock in wm6.0. Is there a way to download a file somewhere to get the clock (a clock) to show up at the "settings/today/items"?
I have had a look at the Throttle launcher, M2D but can't really get any of them to work properly....anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
/F
my device:
HTC Touch P3452 ELF0100, WM6.1 CE OS 5.2.19972 (build 19972.1.2.7)
ROM 3.07.707.02 WWE, 10/25/08
Radio 03.34.90
Not sure what you mean about big clock but do a search for HTC Home plug-in (I think the latest cab is version 2.1) and see if that is what you are after. Otherwise, have you tried the Manila 2D customizer tool (M2DC)? I don't know if it works on shipped roms TF2D but it might let you change certain aspects of TF2D.
Good luck
Hi,
Yes sorry for being a bit unclear....what I ment was ofcourse the digital clock display at the HTC Default Home screen. I have tried the HTC Home plug-in but it, as for so many others (feedback) freezes and forces me to hard reset.
The problem occurs when I turn off the Touchflo 2D in favour of other themes, I get no option to display a clock on the today screen (under items to display). Hence downloaded themes comes out as plain as can be without anything but a background, start and bottom bar.
I would like to have a digital clock display as for the previous HTC Default Home screen....or similar clock at least.
I read somewhere that you could display/hide the clock by changing registry values under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\CHome\CClock, Disabled to 0, as per this website. I have chacked in that location but found no such registry value named cclock.
Staring to think I might be actually a bit stupid for missing something very simple.....you never know until someone tells you!
I hope I made myself a bit more clear...
/F
Well it sounds like you know what you are doing so I don't want to sound too "teachy". But what you are doing in the Item screen is turning off a Today plug-in (TF2D). AFAIK, everything that would appear on the Today screen is displayed as a plug-in. Your rom opted to show the TF2D plug-in. This plug-in overrides all others in the item screen so in order to use another plug-in, you must uncheck the TF2D plug-in. So with no plug-ins selected, you will have a blank Today screen.
There are several plug-ins you can install as alternatives to TF2D such as HTC Home, RLToday, etc. Just query Today plug-ins. Once installed you can initialise them from the Items screen. It is a little worrying that HTC Home crashes on your device. You might try a soft reset (small hole, poke with stylus) or uninstall it and reinstall it. It might be that you've run out of Program memory (Settings-->System--Memory). A soft reset will free it up again. I hope some of this is helpful.
After more than four years with different WM smartphones, I finally moved to a PPC with the Samsung i770 aka Saga. The phone works great at 96 dpi with RealVGA, but I am having trouble finding a good today screen. I am surprised on two counts:
1. Incompatibility of themes between various screen resolutions, and
2. Small number of themes for the 320x320 screen of the i770.
I am looking for a today screen setup that looks like Manila 2D, but allows more things on the "home" tab (voicemail indicator, time of the next alarm, next 2-3 appointments instead of one, ability to control all-day appointments, etc.) I also absolutely need a calendar / appointments tab. Nice-to-have is the ability to show multiple timezones on the "home" tab and integration with the Samsung Alarms application rather than the Microsoft one that is part of the OS Settings. Is there anything out there that matches these needs? And what's the most popular / versatile today screen "shell" that people are using on 320x320 devices? It looks from the threads here that HTC Home was all the rage many months ago, then SPB Mobile Shell was the shell seeming most skinning action, and then UltimateLaunch, and then Manila 2D. What's the "in thing" now?
Thanks!
PS: I am tinkering with ThrottleLauncher right now, but I am not sure if there is something "better" out there.
You can use SPBMobileShell 2 (3 will be out soon so you might wanna wait) and look for a skin containing everything you just mentioned. there is a huge skins thread for SPBMS in the Dev&Hack section
Thank you. The challenge has been to find something that works with the square 320x320 screen at 96 dpi. Most screens seem to be for QVGA resolution.
Titanium today is very cool, but is there another transparent today screen for wm6.5 apart from Manila 2d?
Thanks
Dunno what else you could mean by transparent but there is also Pointui spb mobile and wisbar. They are not so easy to work with. Spb mobile I think, is the easiest and Pointui can be very attractive.

A 1 + for pointui
Throttlelauncher is a good option, you can configure it at your own taste using themes (even Iphone, Android, TF3D, BB, GSmart imitations or some themes specially made by a person or for a person with some useful and nice aspects) or taking some of the themes and making your own one. You can add widgets, flash, and WM-Today plugins into the panels of ThrottleLauncher.
You can do a search here in xda-dev's or go to www.throttlelauncher.com
* NOTE * I experienced some problems running TL if my device is low of memory *BUT* I continue using and recommending it (and trying to put it into my cooked ROMs) - I run it with Kaiser and with Herald both WM6.5.1 now.

Yes, some of the TL themes do have transparent toolbars depending of the PNG's that the theme uses. As they are capable to disable the toolbars of WM you can use full screen themes with their own (or without any) toolbars - where they can be configured as the theme developer, or the user, like to.
Moved this thread outside of Dev and Hacking where it did not belong.
transparancy is possible in wm6.5, means what you want is practically can be done.
Thnx a lot for your replies friends.
In fact i was looking for new today screen with transparent taskbar.
Throttlelauncher can be very good. Will give this a try.
I've started some serius programming for WM, and I'm kinda having enough of this HTC sense and all the modded WM apps. HTC TD2 is a good platform, it has lot of RAM good CPU etc. why does it has to be slow? I mean it is now kinda like the Omnia 2, lot of extra stuff makes it worse. (I'm using original 6.5 rom) I disable HTC Sense, it made the device whole lot faster, and it disabled some of the fancy extra menus, modded email stuff, calendar etc. which is nice, but some of them are still really annoying (eg. SMS interface, big font in File Explorer etc.) I also changed the default font size, it helped (FileExplorer) but the softkey menus are still pretty damn big. is there any way to change the size of it? maybe RegEdit? Oh yeah, i haven't talked about the full screen notification area stuff, the volumecontrol etc. anyways, if you have any ideas, or you had the same problem, or maybe you have a clean rom for TD2 then please comment it down below!
Hello mrSAJT,
First I was using SoftKey Applet to edit the softkeys. Do not forget to download and check all applications mentioned on the left. Especially Task Manager!!
Now though I'm using NueNoBar to completely remove the softbar (WM6.1), instead I'm using the hardware keys remapper!
Standard Volume sucks, therefore I'm using SetVolume instead.
I'm not too happy with the stanard SIP, thus I started using FingerKeyboard2 and that's a relief!
4 Specialized settings I use: Advanced Configuration Tool
Standard F(ile) Explorer sucks too, though with several extentions its getting betta! See: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6420813#post6420813
Extra camera modes
HTC coloured top bars (You need to install SDKCert.cab if you've not already got it).
HTC Coloured Top Bar.cab
or
HTCzar's HTC Iconbar.cab -=[ Screenshot ]=-
Disable push internet (and save 10 MB RAM)
WMLongLife is an automatic 2G/3G band-switching solution. Though BETA, I've had no problems with it @all!
Hope this helps,
Senax
