[ROM][BETA]Wizard M2D Brushed 6.1[RE-OPENED]
After reading just yesterday after reading + Que PPC being robbed of his Wizard and Money.
I decided to add That little security utility that send you a SMS when the sim gets Switched.
Well it was planned to late.
While Putting on some new shoes my Wizard got stolen out of my Jacket.
Bringing this Project to an early end.
%#[email protected]&*
Or.... maybe this is a good time to start something i have been wanted to experiment and try for a long time..
An Open ROM.
I won't be able to test but still there's a lot that i can do.
I'm really sorry but it looks like some one else will need to make a fully functioning Wizard Rom with M2D.
UPDATE:
Propably the weirdest request you have seen on XDA
I want to by some one a little Present.
And i'm asking for a small donation to do so.
Why? Because that someone found my Wizard Broken And Battered (still working after putting back the battery under a bridge.
I told him how important this particular phone was, and that i would try to do something nice to make it up to him for being a good normal Person that does what is normal.(the right thing)
Thanks

For your Donations.
50€, maybe i'll even get myself a little present.
So good news Project is re-opened.
Also Special Thanks to Ather90 for helping out with the BugFixes (Really helps with getting some more sleep )
And in now particular order Thanks to, VanDenBos, Gullum, NFSFAN, Ababrekar, DSIXDA, HTCTOUCHXP, HavocNL, AbinBasu, VetVito, Boto, SWiftblade, PKoper, Piranha, Bereda, Cmonex, POF, MrBarvian, Anichillus, It's right, Dfereira, the list can go on and on and on, etc etc etc, Nothing would be possible without great XDA users.
Well Here I Am, back home. Now I don’t like to hurry when doing something, and I do like the concept of a long testing run with good users.
It’s been two years (at least) since I made a Wizard rom, and it will be my first public one.
The Rom is now into the Beta Fase, It's Useable.
It’s based on J.vd.Spanks Kitchen Oem Packs.
Now I don’t like just throwing my own Oem Packages into a kitchen.
I like to let each Package go through my hands again as I like to check everything by hand again and again.
Main Goals:
1.Utilize Ext_Rom as part of the actual Device instead of just Autorun Install
2.Incorporate some MortCooking into the Rom
3.Incorporate specifically Customized MortButtons interface for Wizard.
This Alpha only has the first part incorporated.
It is running Total Commander from Ext_Rom, WMP skin from Ext Rom, MP3Trimmer skin from Ext Rom and Volume Control from Ext_Rom.
As far as I know I haven’t seen this being done yet (seams some are doing it, Rock On), why waste 10 MB of space if you can use it for files that would otherwise fill and slow down your device and Windows folder?
Still a lot of work to do, and I would like to have a social life next to my Moderating Dutties here and There.
Enjoy,

Wizard for me is like starting over all over again.
First thing is to read up on why HTCHome isn't working correctly (version 2.1)
Ababrekar also has the exact files figured out that can run from different Directory in M2D, not al thought.
Tried S2P today in Ext rom but S2P like to create cache files where it's installed so that's a no go. But i will put it into a zip file then use Mort to install it into Program files instead of a Cab installation.
I already had three skins done for this, Commmanager, WMP skin and Volume Control (HTC Volume doesn't work here it kills volume control altogether)
G4 or G3 should not make a difference I only put the OS and Ext rom in the nbf file (first Mistake learned not to use capitals in 9b000000)
I have a G4, used to be G3 untill Good T-Mobile replaced the whole motherboard. A Colleague has a G3 so i have two test devices.

I don't know what happen but after wm6 start to be ported to Wizard, no one anymore use extended rom.
It's good see again extended rom be used with a good functionality.
The only problem that can exist, it's if anyone try to direct update from wm5 to your rom on a G4 deice, will get a corrupted extended rom that will drain like a hell the battery.
On this case it's necessary flash a clean extend rom after update to wm6 and then flash your rom again to get extended rom working.
About HTC home i have a explode version who work perfect on wizard, i need to try a lot of version to find this working version (btw that is the version on TNT).
If you want i can send you by PM, just inform me
Edit:
Already find the link that i send to it's right
http://rapidshare.de/files/40177517/htc_home_xplode_n2a.cab.html
just check if this still work
i cannot access rapidshare from my work =/

Thanks, I just Sorted it out.
Learned my second lesson with HTCHome.
I was missing HTCUtil1.dll
1.5 didn't use it, and i didn't have it in my Regular OEM Package for 2.1, as i have so grown used HTCUtil1.dll always being in the oem that i didn't put it in my OEM Pack. So i don't mind Admitting my little Failures.
Third lesson, forgot that SDAutoRun only likes it with Autorun in windows folder, should check if Sleuth has anything on that Because it would be fun having the freedom to put AutoRun.exe where ever i want.
The first part of Autorun runs fine but then when it tries to execute SDAutorun.exe from Ext Rom it stalls.
Nice seeing HTCHome popping up again.
I can now switch to the version patched to get graphics from HTCHome folder. The put a Zip file with the graphics into the Ext Rom.
Use Mort to unzip the files into the HTCHome Subfolder inside Windows.
That should start cleaning out the windows folder some more.
**** i might start liking this to much again...
What a great device, Like being a little kid patching up his old bike to ride harder.
There's still enough files in there that don't mind working from outside of Windows.
I Always Flash from BootLoader, so i install from a virtual machine and do my paranoid routine. Put Device into Bootloader. Start RUU, Then close WSecSomething.exe & Rapimgr.exe, Connect Device, Flash. Old Habits, Die Hard.

It doesnt matter MEN!

holy crap! I gotta try this!

i'm finaly in home...
i will try it right now!
any bug i will report!
what base you are using?

Thanks
Tried it and it has a lot of potential. Look forward to future releases.
I really didn't find any bugs so far.

i already test here and look a good start.
touchflo is not working on contact screen. its craching.

Installed it tonight. Looks good and fast. Not much overhead (crap programs), which I like. I'll load my own stuff.
The only major problem that I have run into is with the Comm manager. When I turn on wifi (it connects), I cannot turn it off. Have to soft-reset to turn off.

Hmm looks like i need to go skin an older Commmanager. (only the On Off Buttons)
The Default WM6.1 MS Wireless Manager (wrlsmgr.exe) does work correctly with Wifi, good one there.

Two tests here, Test with old Touchflo settings file or switch to other Contact App then RandomAccess altogether.
And trust me it's going to be messy for the coming time as i'll be bumping into loads of stuff that i have grown accustomed to work.
That's the reason i'm only posting the NBF file, it's for Flashing Junkies

Can We have some screens please? I will test it later ^^

Lol I tested it and is slow...
Bug with commanager ...
I can't open it...

How can you do this?????
ITS .19588??????? Why? if there is new builds?
It doesnt matter...Its great!!!!
The camera is awsome!!!! launched inside of pictures and videos app, works like a charm!!!!
No more diamond tryings this is Brushed Metal!?
Like the customizations on your hornets MR SVI..
Same issue for commmanager and is not mapped to hardware buttons even the camera. And the contacts dont be mapped to right softkey.
Lots of Memory... but I cant install all my stuff in EXT Rom... just the Pocket RAR b3. i think this is not for this use but will be great like in HTC Universal.
Speedy and stable.
Touch.lnk dont works on start/settings... In programs the cube is launched but no works... stucks! end hardbutton needed.
Nice Rom I'll try more and more... jejeje

[24-Dec-2007] XDA Mobile 6 Release 5 RC1 with .NET CF 3.5!

XDA Mobile 6 Release 5 RC1
Christmas has come to the Wizard!
This is a Release Candidate! Click Here to dowload the Final version!
XDA Mobile 6 Release 5 (XM6r5 for short) is the fifth version (and most likely my last since I now have a Tilt/Kaiser phone) of the popular XM6 rom series for the Wizard. This ROM tries to bring the stability of XM6r3 to a rom similar to XM6r4 (which had a few issues).
XM6r5 is built on the OS 5.2.318 Build 15342.4.0.01 rom that was provided to us by InGeNeTiCs from Howard Forums. While this is not the "newest" release of WM6, it is the last known release that was built for the Wizard (ie: its not a port from another HTC Device). Various pieces of the base rom have been upgraded, so some of it is stuff ported from other phones so that it can have newer functionality. Overall, I feel this base is very stable and fast and makes a great base to cook on.
Please Note: this ROM was NOT intended to push the limits on speed optimization or memory optimization. It was made to be functional, stable, and something that I myself wanted and will use. I've found it to very quick and responsive (especially with Overclocking with BatteryStatus), and so far Battery life has been very good for me and those beta testing this. If you have a Battery Drain issue, make sure you flashed back to an official rom before you upgraded to this one, as that should correct extended rom corruption that has been shown to cause battery draining. BatteryStatus is NOT included in this ROM. If you want to overclock or use other features of BatteryStatus, you are welcome to download and install the latest version of BatteryStatus yourself. I personally use it, and have OMAP set to 247MHz with CPUscalar set from 143 to 247 and Boost set to 260Mhz.
Base ROM Information
The base rom was an "Official" Wizard WM6 ROM that was part of the development cycle of WM6 inside of Microsoft (Dogfood as they call it). The base rom was not a port of another device rom with drivers and stuff pieced and parted onto this one, but this was an actual Wizard WM6.
Windows Mobile 6, OS 5.2.318 Build 15342.4.0.01
ROM Version: 10.1.0.811 WWE
ROM Date: 08/11/06
Protocol: 4.1.13.09
There is no Radio, IPL, SPL or Extended ROM included in this (so its G4 "safe").

In addition to the apps listed above, the following fixes and mods were made to improve the user experience on XM6r5
Changing ringtone now stays changed when you leave the Phone app

Regional Settings default to English (United States) and use a slash for the date seperator (M/dd/yyyy)

Pressing the "End Call" button does not disconnect GPRS but minimized the active application. Pressing and holding the "End Call" button for about 5 seconds will do a GPRS Disconnect
Internet access over ActiveSync (USB) connection works (You must apply a registry fix on your PC first. See the next post for the fix)

Requirements
You MUST have an IPL and SPL at 2.xx or higher (BOTH not just one or the other).
You MUST be running ActiveSync 4.5 on Windows XP (Vista comes with the correct sync utility, although there have been issues reported about Vista and sync'ing with PPC's so be aware of that).
Before you attempt to upgrade to this ROM, Please follow this thread to learn how to flash roms, CID unlock your phone, and how to fix issues you may run into! It is also recommended that you flash your phone with a Windows XP computer and not Vista. It will work with Vista, but if you run into problems Vista can't talk to a phone in Bootloader mode!
Recomendations
I HIGHLY Recommend that you flash back to an official rom before upgrading to this (or any) custom rom so you have a clean base (and correct any Extended ROM corruption you might have). G4 users would flash back to their provider's latest official release or the Wizard Love ROM. G3 users can use T-Mobile 2.26 for a good base.
If you use BatteryStatus (its NOT included in the rom!) to overclock, I don't recommend overclocking above 260Mhz, and the CPUscaler settings in BatteryStatus should not be set to a min lower than 143MHz (or your device may not wake back up after going to sleep).
Newer Radio ROMs on WM6 have had issues in the past (especially for Cingular / AT&T users). T-Mobile 2.19 (UK or NL versions) seems to be the most stable, but you can now run newer radios with the attached cab. This cab also works for some other providers but not for all, so its up to you to test what works for your phone.

Known Issues
When entering a contact in the "To:" field it does not link to the outlook contacts, it instead shows suggested words. You can tap the word "to" and it will go to the contact list no problem.
After the initial flash, some have reported that QuickMenu pops open the start menu when you are supposed to tap the screen to start the phone setup. Just wait a second or two and it will close by itself. Or tap anywhere on the screen and it should close so you can begin the normal setup procedure.
The base rom has a bug / feature where if GPRS is active, unanswered calls may not show up as a missed call and may not give notification of the unanswered call. If this happens, the unanswered call shows up in the history as an answered call with a duration of 1 or 2 seconds.

XM6r5 Addons and Information
Radio ROMs
Here are links to a few of the Radio ROMs that I've used with XM6r4. Remember that Radio's newer than the 2.19 radio may require the WM6 Fix CAB that is attached to the first post of this thread.

Cingular 2.25.11
2.61.11
2.69.11

How to not have a 24hour Clock (or how to show AM/PM)
This works on all WM6 roms
Go to Start > Settings > System > Regional Settings
Make sure you have the correct Region selected
Click on the Time tab
Click on the drop down box for Time Style
Notice the little up and down arrows? This is a scrolling region in this dropdown. Click the up arrow a couple of times and you'll find h:mm:ss tt
Thats it. Microsoft is amazing at having a 2 line scrolling region on this dropdown. You'd think they would have had at least 3 or 4 lines show up for chosing (and it would be more obvious that its a scrolling region then too).
GPRS / MMS Setups
First, here is The Ultimate Thread with people posting operator settings for about all providers! In the first post is a link to the thread where walshieau is creating an automated way of setting up all of these!
What follows is a list of automated and manual ways of setting up GPRS and MMS for various cell providers and regions that I've collected:
The cab file for Cingular users to setup GPRS and MMS - Click Here.
For T-Mobile US users, here's a link to a thread by Lurch with 3 cabs for the various plans. Famewolf tested the 3rd one and it worked for him.
For T-Mobile US users, here's a link to a post by FZZF that has info for your setup of GPRS and MMS by hand
Here's another link with cab files for T-Mobile US users:
MMS auto config t-mobile.cab (Thanks to marscandybars for posting this)
Here's the settings for the original (Pre-Cingular) AT&T Wireless (blue sim)

Install the wm6voip.cab.
Restart your Wizard (Soft Reset).
Go to Start > Programs > Toobox and open Setup VoIp Aplication.
Insert your VoIP account information.

Connecting XM6r4 to the Internet via ActiveSync 4.5 on Windows XP
For those having issues connecting to the internet via Active Sync, cut and paste this code onto your PC in a file called net_over_activesync.reg and run it (on your PC not your phone)
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services]
"AllowLSP"=dword:00000000
Splash Screens and Splash Only RUU for G4
For G4 users, Click Here for the RUU with the Splash Screens of this rom (since you don't get them when you use the shell tool). As I understand it, this is completely safe for a G4 as its nothing but splash screens (no OS, IPL, SPL, Extended ROM, etc, just splash and htc logo screens). I've also placed the .bmp files that make up the splash screen in the zip file so you can see them directly before flashing this.
If you have problems flashing the above RUU on a G4, then extract this http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=29158&d=1152698784 and pull the nk.nbf file out of the above Splash Screen file and put it into the directory of this one and run this RUU. You can use the same method for flashing the Radio Only ROM (pull the nk.nbf file out of the radio only rom and put it into the directory of this RUU and run it). Thanks anichillus for that link! You can also check this thread for another RUU that is in English and seems to work for most G4 users. Thanks Vippie!
Weather Panel Setup
See my post in the Wizard forum on how I setup WeatherPanel. It will give you a fixed dll with correct moon phases through 2008, new/better Moon phase icons, and a cool theme called Chameleon-240 QVGA. I dumped SBSH Pocket Weather after seeing this setup
Hermes Black Cabs that may be of Interest
Transcriber can be added back into XM6r4 by using the Black 3 Add-on CABs file. There may be others in it that may be of interest also for some. Included in this file is Cyberon VoiceCommander, Cyberon Voice Dial, VIjay555 utils, and a Slingbox patch (none of these I've tested).
Turning off Word Auto Completion
Some people do not like how Windows Mobile tries to suggest words that you may be typing. If you are one of those people, jacob-mda wrote up a post on how to turn it off. Check out This Thread.
Auto Completion for Spanish
User peu found the file to change the auto completion of words to Spanish. You can check his post here for details and a link.
Skinning the Dialpad
You can find skins for this dialpad HERE. See image attached below for an example.
Skinning MortPlayer
MortPlayer is very skinnable. Check out the qVista example attached below. You can find qVista here: http://www.aximsite.com/boards/them...rting-qvga-vga-landscape-portrait-square.html
More skins can be found here: http://www.sto-helit.de/index.php?module=download&action=list&category=23
Or create your own skins by reading this: http://www.sto-helit.de/freeware/pocketpc/mortplayer/en/skinhelp.html
BatteryStatus (for Overclocking, CPUScalar, and much much more)
BatteryStatus is a very popular utility around here and for good reasons. Currently its in a beta phase and the author is releasing new versions of the beta constantly so I decided not to put it in the rom and let people install whatever build of it they want. Also, some versions of BatteryStatus have been known to cause excessive battery drain, so be aware of that too. You can find it in the Official BatteryStatus thread and if you do use it, feel free to give feedback on it in that thread as they are always looking for ways to improve it.
NOTE: If you do use overclocking, I recommend you use the OMAP Apps tab to setup Camera to be at 195Mhz as it can mess up the display if you are overclocked and doing the camera.
How to change Keyboard for other languages and layouts
This thread has information for changing the keyboard to work for other layouts.
.
Included Apps Info
Info on Included Apps
Keyboard Skins
I've included in the rom an application called Keyboard Skins that allows you to change the onscreen (SIP) keyboard colors. The app is in Start->Programs->System. There are 20 different keyboard skins you can choose from! Just choose from the list, and after the program ends you will need to do a soft reset to see the new skin. Enjoy!
WkTask
WkTask is a Task Manager that has a lot of functionality. Its small, quick, and powerful. You can find out more about it (including a video demo) by going here: http://soft.photoracer.net/docs/wktask_en.html
QuickMenu
Quick menu is enabled by default and gives the Start menu a drop down style. Use the QuickMenu settings (found under the Start Menu) to configure the options. More information can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=340358
Note: QuickMenu has task manager functionality (which is NOT enabled by default). If you don't want / need the features of WkTask, you could disable it, and enable the QuickMenu task manager instead. Do NOT enable QuickMenu's task manager features without disabling WkTask (or other Task Managers you may load) as they can conflict with each other and cause unpredictable results).
SK tsync
Included in this rom is SK tsync, which will synchronize your phone to time servers. I've included in \Windows a special link called tsync silent.lnk . You can copy this link (with TotalCommander or use WinXplore) to your \Windows\Startup folder and it will allow your phone to sync its time after a reboot. Famewolf also wrote a Mortscript for easy install (since Mortscript is part of this rom). Click Here to download this script, then just place it on your phone and run it, and it will copy this shortcut to your Startup folder for you.
MobileJustice v0.8
MobileJustice is an Anti-theft app that you can configure on your phone. Just go to Start > Programs > Accessories and click on the MJConfig icon (first time in you will get a message that there isn't a config file, just click ok and it will be created). To us this, check the Enabled box, then click Add on the Allowed line. You can then setup your SIM card as an authorized one, and add other SIM cards IMSI numbers if you use more than one. Next click on Add next to Report to: and setup an SMS number (wife, friend, colleague) where you want the text message to go to if an unauthorized SIM is put into your phone. You can add multiple SMS numbers if you want. At this point, your phone will now be setup so that if an unauthorized sim is put in it, then it will send an SMS (with no record of it being sent) to your Report To list on the next boot (you can test this by not setting up (or removing) the Allowed and then doing a soft reset).
For more advanced, you can turn on the Disp MsgBox at the top and then put in some text in the MsgBox text line. This will pop up a Message box on the screen of the phone after a boot, if an unknown sim is in the phone.
You can also enable RMon (bottom half of the screen), put in a pass phrase, and then turn on MsgBox (GPS and LocCall do not work on Wizards, and the other options haven't been implemented in this version). By doing this, you can now send an SMS to your phone in the following format:
+m passphrase message
Rmon will intercept the sms message (so it will not show up as a received message), and if the passphrase matches the one you put in the configuration, then it will pop up a message box on the phone with your message in it (so you can secretly send messages to the thief to possibly intimediate them (or whatever).
The project page for MobileJustice is located at: https://sourceforge.net/projects/mjustice/
How to upgrade to Final without Reflashing
The info here is still beta as the final has not been released yet! But feel free to use the cab in the first post to apply fixes I've found before Final is released. The CAB and this information are subject to change until the Final version is officially released
If you want to upgrade to the Final version without having to Reflash, I'm providing a CAB to do this. The CAB is attached to the first post of this thread. Files installed by this are installed in storage memory and NOT in the ROM (you have to flash to put things in the ROM). You must choose to install this on your device and not on the storage card (It shouldn't ask you but if it does choose device) for this to work.
This cab does the following:
Updates PIM Backup to 2.7
Changes WkTask left and right setting so it doesn't hide VoiceMail (and similar) notification icon
removes the tools folder icon from the Windows folder
Changes the Wait Cursor to be the Touch one
Change Start->Settings->System->About to show XM6r5 instead of XM6r4
Fixes Smartdialing Options in the dialpad menu
Add default registry entries so when (if) BatteryStatus is installed, Phone and Camera are set to 195Mhz
You will need to soft reset after this install completes. You can see the new Wait Cursor when the today screen is first starting to load (or go to the CommManager and press a button like FlightMode or Wifi and you should see the WaitCursor spin).
BTW: Also remember since this is a cab install, you can remove it, and if you do a hard reset you will have to install this again.

Yes, its G4 Safe (I state that in my first post ) and can be flashed on any Wizard device (and ONLY Wizard devices... Well, Prophet too which is basically a Wizard).

Yeah I love major Holidays and tieing a ROM release to them (and I put XM6r2 out on last July 4th I believe, so thats 3 ). Unfortunately, I will be selling my 8125 (will go onto eBay this week) as I need to use the money for a bill. I was supposed to get an 8125 from a co-worker, but that appears now that it isn't going to happen.
To be honest, other than updates to built in software, there have not been major changes from r3 to r4, and now to r5. I don't care for the ported ROMs to the Wizard, so I feel I've went about as far as I could go with the 318 rom for now.
@musungus77 - In the Kaiser forums (and elsewhere) its claimed that on WM6 with .NET 2.0 removed (which I did) and .NET 3.5 installed, there is about a 20% increase in speed of .NET based apps (some claim overall ROM speed is better this way, but I'm not sure about that)
@ykktotal - I'll consider a Lite version, but after this full version has been tested more (remember this is a Release Candidate. There may be another RC or even a slightly different Final version of r5). I'll also look at releasing the Cooking Package kit also (like I did with r4) so people can cook it how they want it.

Look at the screen shots for r4. Basically the same. I'll do some screen captures shortly and post them.
BTW: In looking at the screen shots for r4, I just realized a "bug" in r5... I forgot to change the reg entry to indicate this is r5 (so it still shows XM6r4) .
thansk for this great rom mike!

hi Noonski,
Good to see you getting busy trying to cook us a new rom I'm up for the challenge...
Sure, i got balls.
Show me the goods.
I just now figured out how to integrate Bepe's new Mini Litchen into my familiar HyperCore infironment.
First one i made was based on an older WM 6.1 build and it suck maytor ass but really show the slowness well.
It's full of buggs as i haven't done any work on my old packages wich are incomplete.
But by installing them anyway into the rom it's easier for me to see what needs to be done , if you know what i mean.
So that's "RUU_Signed01.nbh"
And just now i made my first from Bepe's new Build 5.2.199 (I make mistakes with numberings who cares it's the latest)
Added some stuff to be sure the Rom would be larger then 50MB to flash.
Haven't removed anything else yet.
Swiping will give an error as Cube is not in it.
Rename RUU_Signed02.nbh into RUU_Signed02.nbh
But it's fast and very clean.
There's nothing really modified but it might be funny to see some weird experiMENTAL builds that ussually don't get out.
Links coming for both RUU's without the whole Updater stuff with it.
Now how do i kill biotouch completly?
I've attached BioRandomAcces.zip
Drop the files into windows folder, it will bring up Random Acces when swiping upwards
What would be cool Small App to replace the cube with?
(I don't want it back anyway)
Thing about Bepe's Build is Both ELF and ELFIN and i can't change the PP to 4 or 6.
So it will be 8 MB PP but it is a better Build then the first one i tried.
I still need to learn stuff about XIP editing (if it will even make it possible)
Link Removed
Link Above For Flasher Anymous Subscribers. Be sure to make a back up of your contacts as you won't be using the above roms a longer then 2 hours.

No it will be a 4 side
Just tried to install icecube on this clean rom.
It started up but did not recognize left, right and down slides.
It's missing to much Touch Files and drivers and registry settings at the moment.
And i don't have all my **** here at work.
I disabled the Up swipe for cube now.
HKLM\Software\OEM\TFLOSettings\
EnableCube=0
Changed the thread name into Vanilla.
Time to brick my device, i'm doing a little experiment with XIP to bring 4 MB pagepool to Bepe's Build.
I don't know what i'm doing so let's pray.
Aeugh... that didn't work.
i'm using ur RUU_Signed02.nbh rom! it's real fast...
would u tell me what happened with the wireless settings? cant find it anywhere...
happy to test ur roms Noonski!

[11 Mar] "Mobile Vista" ROM v1.1 (my Cooked Wm6.1 3.02 ROM)

Welcome to my little ROM - which I'm calling Mobile Vista. Why this name? Well, like Vista WM6.1 the newest OS available from MicroSoft at the moment, and some people say it's buggy but I love it and found it very stable!
Firstly, thank you very much to EVERYONE on this forum, especially to those who've posted in this thread and sent comments. I've taken bits for my ROM from pretty much everywhere and everyone, so I can't list everyone whose work I'm using (as I simply don't remember who I got most of it from). If anyone in particular feels annoyed that I've used their work, please PM me and I'll either remove it or credit you accordingly (your choice).
Please take the time to read ALL of this post and post 2. There are a few things I've worked hard on including that I haven't seen anywhere else.
Why did I release a ROM?
I know I'm not the greatest chef (by a long way) but there wasn't anything out there that was JUST the way I wanted it. I loved parts of most ROMs, but each one had something missing, or something I didn't want, so I set about adding/removing the bits myself. I've ended up with a ROM that I like and so I thought I'd share it. I know lots of you will dismiss it, it will never be as good or popular as Duttys, Schaps, Slueth, etc, but if one other person uses it then it was worth the time uploading and sharing it!
Onto the ROM itself:
It started life as Slueth's WM6.1 v3.0, but I've made a LOT of changes since then - ripping bits out, adding bits in, it's been a blast!

Screen set to switch off at 3 mins on battery, never on power
Softkey's set to New Menu (left) and TomTom (right)
Button 6 set to Comm Manager(press) and File Explorer (hold)
New SMS, MMS, Voicemail and E-mail all set to default to (same) female voice announcing type of message received.

Start Menu organised into folders (with Dutty's icons)
IE Homepage set as http://www,google.co.uk/pda
IE starts in Full Screen mode
Today Screen set up as I want it!
Changelog:
v1.1
Removed MS Voice Command (over the legal line I'm afraid)
Changed HTC X-Button 2.0 to X-Button 1.51 (2.0 has bugs that caused nearly all reported faults in v1)
Updated Today Agenda to newest version
Updated Dotfred's Task Manager to newest version
Removed Coreplayer as newer version due out very shortly (so one in ROM would be wasted space when new version comes out)
Changed button settings to reflect reflect of MS VC
Changed sound notifications for SMS, MMS and e-mail to reflect removal of MS VC
Added a couple of new games - Patience and Tangled Bugs
Still to Do
Still a couple of things I can't seem to get to set from flash/hard reset. Once changed, they stay changed, just can't find a way of getting them to start that way:
Even though all the Regional Settings are set to English UK - the option in Settings still shows the default of English US
Can't get the SIP keyboard to start with "Use gestures for the following keys" selected
Screen text size always starts at position 3, I prefer 2
BatteryStatus always starts without the extra lines/indicators showing. I recommend (in the options) ticking everything on page 1, then "Show
more indicators", "Show Powerdrain", "Show WiFi rows", and "Automatically Hide WiFi rows". That's the setup in the screenshots.
Would love to change the Accuweather IE Favourite (which I never use) to XDA-Developers PDA forum, but I can't find where to in my kitchen
Getting rid of customer feedback! I know it goes once you click "no", but can we stop it in the first place?!?
If anyone knows of the way to set any of these within the ROM so they don't have to be done post-flashing, please let me know as they're bugging me!
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and if you have any comments or suggestions please feel free to post them - any feedback greatly appreciated.

FAQ and other details
Please ensure you use a WM6.1 compatible Radio with this ROM I use 1.64.08.21 which works fine for T-Mobile UK. Could everyone else please post which Radio ROM and Network they find works so we can build up a list of what works andwhat doesn't?
Version 1.1 was published at post 82. Anything before that is v1, anything after is v1.1 unless the post says otherwise
New to this?
There's no shame in being new! Welcome. To flash a ROM:
- Make sure you have Hard SPL installed first. If you haven't DO IT NOW, really or else your phone may well break.
- Download the ROM (links in post 1)
- Attach phone to PC via cable and make sure Activesync fires up and connects
- Unpack your ROM download, and run the RUU program
- Follow the on-screen prompts
- Wait nervously
- When it's finished flashing, the phone will take a while starting up - this is normal
- When you get to the Align Screen bit, Hard Reset the phone (important)
- Now follow the start-up screens until the phone reboots
- If you haven't already, make sure you've got a WM6.1 compatible Radio installed. If you don't, you'll experience problems with sound (not just in a call), the camera and your legs will probably drop off too!
- When you've got the ROM installed and the right radio installed, you're off and running!
Issues
1 ) - (Thanks to Ionutz6 for another great spot)
Even though I've updated to the newest version, Today Agenda still appears to crash if you access the options through Start > Today > Items > Today Agenda > Options. As a work around, please tap and hold on Today Agenda on the Today screen, and select Options from the context menu. Does anyone have a suggestion for a Today plug-in calendar that does everything Today Agenda does but doesn't crash?
2) - One or two people have found the phone is in Flight Mode immediately after you flash. If your signal strength stays with the cross, check the Comm Manager to turn Flight Mode off.
3) - (Thanks to cgjones for this spot)
Video calling doesn't work. The button shows in the dialer, but pressing the button just initiates a voice call rather than a video one.
FAQ
Why doesn't this include HTC Home or the Cube?
HTC Home is out because it takes up half the Today screen, and FTouchflo interferes with Transcriber, so the Cube went out in favour of handwriting recognition. Everything in this ROM is there because I use it, or like it, or think it's cool boasting material down the pub! If you think something else deserves to be in, suggest it - I can always make another version with it in if I want!
Why do you duplicate your links in Start Menu into the Programs folders too?
I like it that way! I've got the most used ones (for me) directly under Start, then everything inside Programs. To me, that's just the way it should work - like on your PC, pinning something to the Start menu doesn't remove it from the All Programs list.
Other ROMs have more free memory!
That's because there's quite a bit built into this ROM, and because there's probably lots of files i could safely remove to slim it down. Unfortunately I don't know what 95% of the files under Windows do, so I can't tell which ones can be removed and which can't. If you notice one that can be removed, please mention it here and I'll clean it out for version 2.
I think your ROMs rubbish!
Fair enough, I like it and that was the only reason I built it. May I suggest trying Dutty's or Slueth's as a mainstream alternative (although every ROM on here is great these days). Alternatively, grab yourself a kitchen and make your own ROM - it's great fun!
Looks Good..
Just flashed duttys latest, but will remmber this one..
I like the way you have tomtom and MSVC already installed - time saver.. Thanks
So, you are allow to cook M$ Voice Command in a ROM? I think M$ is going to come get you for that!
I thought long and hard about this

Good question. I took the view that MS VC 1.6 is available in several other ROMs and has been floating around here in cab and OEM for a while - just the US version rather than the UK one. I'd be quite happy using the US one, but it doesn't seem to recognise my voice as well as the UK version.
I've tried to avoid anything that might be warez, so you can't use Coreplayer without having a valid serial (which you get by buying the software!) and no maps come with TomTom (just like the other ROMs with it installed). If the mods decide my ROM does fall on the wrong side of the line, then I'll remove it immediately from these pages.
Thanks for the replies guys, it's nice to try to give a tiny something back to the community I've got so much from!

Thanks Duncstar! I'm really glad my first comment was positive, I was half expecting just a load of flaming as I pressed the "Submit Thread" button!
If VC doesn't come pre-installed on a production Kaiser ROM somewhere then it's warez unless you have a sanctioned trial version installed. What other ROMs include this?
Nice ROM btw
i second that comment on alreay havingtomtom and ms voice command already in there i believe faria a mod here use to cook roms with voice command already included! in the hermes forum!
I'm downloading it now b4 the fuzz does decide to come.. But nah, It looks really good, and mmmmm games. I probally install it Fri or Sat, but have you seen any problems with it? Most importantly, have you tried to install Blackberry Connect, and do I need to do anything with it? I am really feeling Sleuth's 3.0, But will try yours this wknd.. Congratulations on it
If anyone flames a cook, send them my direction. If they dont like the food, then go to a different diner.
BTW, nice look. Very well thought out. I can tell you took your time. D/L as we speak.

Bugger! I know there's OEMs for VC in Alex's ROM kitchen (tried to use it to convert it to UK) and a quick search shows there are other ROMs with it installed (e.g. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=356683&highlight=voicecommand , http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=352203&highlight=voice+command , http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=332737&highlight=msvoicecommand ). I haven't tried installing each of these ROMs to see if their version is UK or US, but would I actually need to find one with the UK VC on it for this ROM to stand?
Surely we're not allowed to discriminate against this ROM just because it's accent is different to the others? Doesn't that breach the European Human Rights Act?
Slueth, I am happy to go with your judgement. I'd LOVE to be able to offer others my ROM (in case they find it useful) but I don't want to bring this site into disrepute. I'm going to have to go to bed now (got to be in work in 6 hours!) but if you feel it's got to go, please feel free to delete the download links from the first post.
Thanks.

Never used Blackberry so can't comment on if it works or not. I know I haven't done anything to MAKE it work. Could the first one to try (if the ROM isn't deemed warez and removed) please post the result and I'll pop it in the second post? Thanks.
I'll bring the VC issue up in the "inquisitors" (moderators) section and see what they think.
wow so could
this is the only cooked rom so far that works with voice command announcing incoming calls and messages from the units speaker ,i dont do bluetooth so i am super happy ccamper thanks bro for sharing your cooking!
at least in my case, this rom is not working with new WM6.1 ROM 1.64.08.21, the phone stays off. im trying the 1.64.06.04 right now. maybe it would be fine if ConfusedStu can reccomend a radio ROM for best experience with his ROM.
EDIT: My bad, the phone is default set to OFF, you need to turn it ON in the comm manager in order to work! I thought my radio is the problem... My oh my, this flashing...
Looks good...
I like it.. I will be playing around with it some more.. but odd thing has happened so far.
When i started the phone after the update it vibrated for about 3 min until I went into the sounds and pressed a selection.
I now find that I have no sounds at all - ie if I have the volume set to whatever level I get no sounds (and I have tried selecting other ringtones to see if that was the problem)
Any suggestions?
Cheers

do a hard-reset (keep both soft keys pressed and do a soft-reset, follow instructions). it is usually a good rule of thumb to do a hard-reset right after installing a new ROM, as you may have found out in some of the chef posts around here...
Still no luck

Good thoughts - I did try this and still have no luck - I did work out what the vibration at the start was - I had a voicemail notification that was activating - and that was the vibration.
Further tests hav found this:
1. Media player shows that it is playing - but with no sound.
2. Ringtones vibrate - but no sound.
3. Speakerphone works fine in a call - I can hear the caller and the caller can hear me.
*shrugs* not sure what the issue is..

I pretty much guarantee that you don't have a WM6.1 radio or Polaris Radio installed do you.
gr8 rom ! especially the today screen layout.

Released: JustMe - New Concept (Currently with 70mb+ FREE.) [Beta 2: 07-17-08]

Here it is:http://www.darthnet40.com/xda/ivanmmj/Kitchens/JustMine/
The XPR is the standard one. It will show a XIP number of... crud I forgot...
The LZX is obviously the one with the LZX compression. That will show the wrong XIP number due to a bug.
MAKE SURE THAT THE FILES END UP IN C:\Cell\JustMine\ etc etc.
Beta 2 fixes a few things with the scripting and the ROM.
Special thanks go to:
Ttran for the AWESOMELY fast XIP he provided
Aserg for the trails of LZX compression that I followed
moullas for the FTP space!
Everyone else. (Just cause I know I'll forget some people.)
The SYS build is 19588 and the XIP is 20XXX something or other. (I'm running the LZX right now so I can't check.)
I have a new idea... I'm just going to release two mini kitchens with the JustMe and the JustMe LZX edition.
The difference is that the LZX edition uses LZX compression and if you build a ROM with nothing on it, you can get the following:
FREE: 70.07MB storage (This is with Advanced Config ON also, since there was a bug in the config.xml that caused it to be built along with the ROM even when I disabled it.)
Total: 73.36MB
RAM: with 4 PP: 30.78
Bug: It doesn't show the correct XIP number. It will show an older XIP due to the imgfs.bin I used from one of Aserg's ROM.
Both MiniKitchens have:
Built in:
Aserg's HTC Scrolling (TouchFLO's BioTouch)
Aserg's Policy
Ivan's Tweaks
The possible packages are:
HTC Random Access
PocketXpdf
SPB Diamond Calculator
Connection Setup 1.0.30488.1
CommManager (The one with the little circles that say on and off... and I fixed the always open by itself issue.)
Customization - JustMe - Still working on this one.
HTC Album 1.0.1030.720
HTC Touch Dialer - An oldie but a real good one.
HTC EnlargeStartMenu 1.1.33048.1
Internet Sharing
HTC Home with Proxy Support (Choose the JUVSHTCHomePrxy - Custom)
Keyboard drivers for both Herald and Wing
Not So Black keyboard skin
ArcSoft MMS 4.2.8.1
NETCF 3.5
Office 6.1
OneNote 6.1
OperaMini 4.1 with Esmertec Jbed
Oxios Memory
QuickMark v3.6
S2P 0.40 (This version stores itself in the windows folder to avoid a copy of itself in the Program Files.)
TCPMP 0.72RC1 (same as above)
Schaps Advanced Config v2.1.0
The Standard Dial Pad, ugly but very small and very functional
X-Button 2.1.33556.2 with big buttons
PHM Registry Editor
Total Commander 2.5b3
WM5torage 1.8
Remember, this are all programs that I personally use. It's not the prettiest ROM, but it's fast and it does it's job. If you guys would like me to UPDATE any app, tell me. I won't be adding any more programs unless I feel I would use them. Like I might add GoogleMaps...
This will be like having a ROM cooked like me, but without me having to upload all different kind of versions. You can also use it for a base for other ROMs as long as you give me some credit. The OEM was stripped by me, the SYS was ported by me from another port to another phone and the XIP is directly from Ttran, if he lets me use it. If not, it's going to be one of my own. The LZX is technically from Aserg, although it was more like reverse engineered from his ROM. ;-)
This will be my ONLY project for now. (Other than the class.)
How about DotFred Softkey, Quickmenu and iContact? Also MS Voice Command?
Right now I am using Big Storage, with SPB Mobile Shell, the ROM is fine, Mobile shell the jury is still out...eats alot of memory. Am trying to find a good today screen program to use that meets all my needs.

I like Quickmenu (thanks, Ttran) but I like PocketCM over iContact. I don't think Ivan COULD make everyone completely happy. The option of updating new versions is more important to me than having it cooked in a ROM.
I've been running the gauntlet on today screens also. SPB Mobile Shell lasted long enough for me to get home and change it (mem. and battery issues). Have you tried the various skins for Battery Status? There is also rlToday with themes. I have spent most of my time in "Development and Hacking" looking or Today screens.......something to do while waiting for Ivan to finish a project.
you should add asergs all too smexy 2g touch dual dialer. just for the fun of it.

I have a small 128mb card that I have formatted to fat32 and use it to flash roms....I found I couldn't do it with the bigger cards even when I partitioned it. So if I flash I just pop out my 4g and put in the little one flash then pop back in the big one. Working with a smaller card helped me.

Excellent cant wait to see this... At the moment running Just2Clean with mobile shell, core player, battery status and a couple minor programs with close to 60mb available... goes superfast cant wait to see this
I must say, the XIP that ttran gave me makes the whole thing SUPER fast even with the LZX compression.
Right now, with a ROM with all the trimings minus QuickMark and I still have 50mb+ free.
Oh one small thing for the kitchen... Internet Sharing

I would definitively use it, if you can get me either the OEM package or the Cab for it.

Can't wait for the new kitchen

I might include them if you can get me the OEM packages or the Cabs. I think I have QuickMenu already, and possibly at home, I might have SoftKey, but if you can get me all three, that'd be great. Same with MS VoiceCommand. Remember, this is more of a ROM that I personally use that I've decided to release, though.

SPB Mobile Shell isn't freeware, so I can't include it. I have to get a good battery status package. I'm not going to include any themes, though.
i cant wait for this rom teach
The only thing holding me back from releasing it right now is.... umm... nothing but my laziness... or the fact that I want to merge the two mini kitchens together and make it so you can choose the LZX or XPR (default) and it will lay out everything for you.

I was actually commenting about not liking SPB Mobile Shell.
Personally, I just want to get a hold of the LZX version. I don't care if grandma's toenail is included, just want to see what it can do.
Ttran and you have made my Wing actually usable. ALMOST went back to my Wizard before I found the ROMs both of you have cooked.
Thanks for what you do.

Well it took some time and a couple of hundred Flashes.
But i wanted to make something no one has ever seen before.
And after seeing Schapps new Project and some old app called MortButtons. I thought, hey i can do something like that. And there was some more stuff that i wanted to try out, to extend how a rom is cooked.
So before the final version of the new Surface Rom, which will be differently skinned and maybe lose some apps or gain some.

hehe, looks like noonski already beat me to the screenshot. but wait there is a little hidden magic behind those various wallpapers in each screenshot above....and so these jump in to give u some clues as to whats behind the touchy curtains of Mort Buttons Configuration
now this was ma favourite....the rom flash completion message is so unique... (big grin smiley)
Noonski Edit: The idea came from Ababrekar, and it actually really only shows after the Mort install script in the background finished.
Part of the cleanliness of the mort install script that runs in the background is what makes the Rom Still Fast despite being filled with Bloot.(if you can call it that.

How do you mean HovacNL?
More Apps PFew Addict. And enjoy your trip.
The error does no harm.
It's the last line of Install script, so it does not mess with the previous lines
It was a test, i posted it to the development thread but not here.
The build i have now does not have that error.
And it's not sunday yet.... This was still a nightly.
I have decided on keeping one Menu Blank to be configured for your personal needs.
You know like favourite settings Extra installed Apps or Web shortcuts.
This version is missing a lot of the new icons fro the menu, It's a no worries build, well except for that Diamond Keyboard. (haven't had the time to do the research on Gullum's Diamond Keyboard.
Ah well at least opening HTC Album from Camera works. (Go, HTCTouchP for that Camera)
Hey Noonski Awesome
My latest release is on Diamon 20273 XIP. It is even more stable Can you PM me the SPC password, the server address and login details too? (Formatted my PC so lost everything) I'll up the XIP on server

The Sys files hold most of the core applications you always see.
These rarily get updated that much and (when was the last time the calander changed?)
Changed are so small and unnoticeable in SYS that upgrading is not worth it.
The XIP however holds some of the most important files that Windows CE run on. NK.exe Device.exe and some others. But these are the parts you don't mess around with and between new builds most changes occur in these files.
As for OEM files again these are rarily updated like the SYS, but since most HTC applications are in this section you will find that more files get updated in the OEM files.
Also using full SYS and OEM from a VGA device even if it's newer isn't the best way to go. Yes it will work. But most resource files like .DLL carry extra Graphics for that higher resolution. Yes they also hold regular QGVA graphics, so they will work.
The files themselves just for this reason are bigger. And since the files hold more information, in microseconds it will still take longer to read through the file, and it might take a bit more memory remembering and storing the used Resource from these files.
But the XIP section is as far as i understand resolution independent.
There's a lot we can do in OEM and SYS to squeeze performance but there's not a lot to tweak in XIP as this quickly becomes system critical.
Just try to kill device.exe or nk.exe in a good taskmanager, you'll see how important it is
But this is just what i know (think) globally.
got it, thankx for the nice explanation. now i m impressed to try new builds

Euhm, it's not skinned yet that's why it's a unskinned public preview.
The skinner ran of with a Playmate to Hawai
It's currently running Triple Darkness Skin.
Beside the whole interface adepts to whatever Theme you use.
I believe there's a screenshot fanaddict that will post a few screens. Or i will make some new ones later in the night.
Maybe ayyu3m will make a few screenshots of all the update Menu's and home screen with his favorite personal theme. (diamond Theme does not fit with HTCHome and BTstatus at that spot.)
Or better yet why don't some of you post your Fav Themes?
how can i improve the communication manager a bit? it shows only 3 buttons. & advanced configuration tool also didnt help.
& i more thing after opening the bluetooth explorer the warning is shown in some language other than english.
nice rom anywez........
Noonski Edit: Question added to Future FAQ
Commmanager functions will move to the Endkey which isn't finished yet.
(Was planning to do that after finishing this build)
So it might be i will have to switch to 6 button commanager in final version.
It was sort of a Proof of Concept that even Commanager can be integrated into the menu system.
Basicly the new Endky Commanager will be nothing more then 24 different version of the same menu and 24 scripts to control them.
Or maybe if i'm lucky i only need 24 scripts.
Button runs script, Script starts service, Script renames menu (or writes next menu from thin air) then restarts the newly renamed/created menu with the ON/OF State. As you can see i'm not a programmer as this could propably be done differently.
Would be even nicer if Mort Buttons would get additional function to Show Up or Down state of a button depending on a registry key.
(hard work for Mort less for me )
So depending on how long final skinning is going to take i might even have it finished.
Yup Bluetooth explorer need to replace the MUI file, good find, easy fix, This was the version i used from The Piko Crew which will be doing the german version. I have WWE version in stock Added to To Do.
Also the Commmanager used is the actuall Windows Mobile Commmanager, it's always been in the Roms as wrlmgr.exe (wonder why some people don't take it out if they are using HTC commmanager)

just flashed it, looks great love the cube!
Noonski Edit: Put Similar Question and A into Future FAQ
Yeah i removed the cube animations from the Menu, but it seams you read up a bit and found the way to change this.
(Cube animation sometimes takes a few seconds to start because it has to to more calculations)
Also one of the reasons i chose to start Taskmanager is because it confronts a user with the fact that Stuff is already running before you start more apps. The only thing that BTstatus X button is good for now is to controll the Long Tapp of X button to close
Don't mind the memory i had all the apps open.
Hey ayyu3m, how's it looking when you set it to use you Che Backdrop?
flashed it.. looks great only when I push start, programs all is empty....start, settings is OK.... how come
