Hi there!
I got some Problems with the new SMS-Chat Style...
I used Jeyo Mobile Companion to Backup my Smses for a long time. And there are approximately 2k SMSes in my Backup. When I import my Backup everything is doing fine. I can browse my SMSes on my device without any Problems, and I can see that there are all of them on my device. When i try to read some of them via Messaging(on the Phone) there is as mess.
- The messages are not in the correct order(time, date)
- a lot of messages are missing or just not displayed
When I access my device via PC& Software i can see that all of them are there, and there are correct time stamps.
I am not sure if this is a Problem caused by the Software(Jeyo Mobile Companion), or the new chat style. Perhaps anybody has an idea or could help me a bit further.

i am using the latest bepe rom in german
i got the xda orbit 2 from o2 (pola200)
I think you should use the PIMBackup. It can backup all in your PPC, including the SMS-Chat style. I am using HTC Cruise.
I think this "SMS Chat" function ist so confusing, that it could result in such problems you have.
Just disable the Chat Style and see if it helps. There are 2 programs that can do the job for you.
1st is "SMS Tweaker", which can only disable/enable SMS Chat.
2nd is "Advanced Configuration Tool". This can disable/enable SMS Chat and provides a lot of additional configuration options, such as Enable GPS Photo, File System Cache settings, etc.

Hi
I have an xda 2.
I recently carried out a hard reset to clean up my xda 2.
Unfortunately when I tried restoring my back up (from active sync) there appears 2 be a problem with old sms messages.
I had created a number of sub-folders where I had moved my old messages.
I can see the old sms messages in the folder but I can not open, read or forward them. There are no problems with new sms messages.
Has anyone come acrosss this before and can you advise me on how to retrieve these please?
Thanks.
Salim
....No response...does noboby love me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well I've had a look through the forums and have foubd similarish problems but nothing seems to help
This is wht I have done so far
1. Downloaded mobile vault to interrogate my back up - but this has proved futile as when I go to where I believe the sms messages are the ones I want are blank (even though I can see them in the sms folder but not expand them).
2. I downloaded Jeye Mobile companion and Jeyo Outlook extender
JMC did not help much
Jeyo Outlook Extender will let me read the SMS messages that are in my inbox (but not accessible via the XDA II). However, any stored in the other folders I have set up are not accessible (I don't seem to be able to see the folders I have set up on the XDA II).
3. I have performed more hard resets - and backups any sms in the back up (even in the inbox) suffer the same fate of not being readable (But I have now backed up mu more recent ones elsewhere).
Well I'm exhausting my options now.
Any help would be more than welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(I have searched the forums but haven't had much luck - if anyone knows of a similar post that has had a reply then could they point me to it).
Any news
Has anyone ever found a way round this?
Similar problem - looking for a solution also.
I had to restore after my SPV M2000 hard reset itself and I cannot view Old or NEW sms messages (apart from when the message bubble is shown as a new message arrives). My messaging inbox, drafts, outbox and deleted items all show the number of messages in them, but I cannot view or access any of them.
Is there any way these messages can be accessed or deleted?
Help!!
Any solution yet
Hi... has anyone figured a way around this yet?
I've spoken to someone at o2 and they said it had something to do with the way the inbox is recognised/linked.
After a hard reset the system is given a new id...but the old messages are linked to an older id....
There must be someway around this.
If I can see the message headers surely there must eb a way of reading the messages!!!!!
HELP PLEASE
A work around if you're stuck
I use Sprite backup which caused this problem after a restore. After raising it with their support team they supplied me with the attached file which allows SMS messages to be received and read.
BE AWARE that all messages on the device will be deleted, but new messages received will work. This will erase SMS, MMS & any emails that are on the device, so use with caution. Make sure you have a full backup!!!
Today I received sms form my friend. Nothing special - alert appeared, I clicked "Go to". And then... There was no chat history (I had pretty long chat with my friend), only one "link" (blue underlined label): "View older messages...". When I clicked on it (I thought chat was too long for cache, but I have longer working good) something started mixing and flashing on screen and now I had EMPTY all boxes (inbox, sent, outbox). When I killed (with task manager) Messaging app I couldn't run it again...
Luckly I made backup (with SPB Backup) this morning, so I had many chances to try to repair it. I discovered, that when I entered that chat (with "View older messages") and then I click OK, not close or X, this same happends - I lost my messages and cannot run Messaging app.
I'm fighting with it for about 4 hours now. I recovered morning backup about 20 times... On the other forum I've found, that messages are kept in "\cemail.vol". I noticed, that this file gets smaller (2-3 times) after this situation... I also tried deleting it (it's pretty hard, because file is protected, but I can do it with mortscript added to startup) without result - I still had all my messages, and entering that one chat was causing failure.
Does anybody have idea what could I do? I know, Hard Reset, but I'd like to keep my messages. I tried Jeyo Mobile Companion and other software to backup my smses, but Palm has teaked OS, and none of these apps can see my messages. At least I'd like to export it to txt file to read them on pc/ppc.
Can anybody hepl me, please?
Best regards,
Milosz
PS
I won't do HR now, waiting for solution and watching if other chats are "good"...
No chance i think. As you have said, the Palm Treo handles SMS-Messages not in the standard way. For the future you can try "SMS forwarder & archiver" from thbi. With SMSForwarder you can redirect your sms-messages to Outlook Notes. The Program ist only available in german in the moment.
Look here: http://www.thbi.de/de/software/smsforwarderarchiver/index.html

Thanks thbi for your answer.
Is there way to export (to any form) my messages? I decided to purge all messages from my Treo but I'd like to hve copy (copy to read them, not backup).
Where does Treo store messages? In what file?
I made HR and I'd like to restore my backup (SPB Backup) but except that file. I tried resoring everything except databases, but I have my messages... And still having this same problem...

Hi there,
I have had a couple of WinMo devices and like to keep all my text messages.
Everytime I do a hard reset or get another phone, I make a backup with SMSBackup and restore them using this program too.
The problem is that the older messages aren't shown by windows in the thread mode (also not in fe. PocketCMContacts).
These messages come from a winMo 5 device...
I can see the messages when I disable the thread mode, but I find the thread option better and would like to use it.
Does anyone know what I could do to make these messages show in thread?
Is there a conversion needed?
thanks in advance
Maybe this guide will help you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=420564 ??
It's for PIM Backup but it might be the same root problem with WM Threaded SMS's.
Thanks
Dave
Thanks for the info. Have just tried this, but now the messages show in thread (not all of them, the ones from windows mobile 5 are in the bottom seperately...) but can't view them.
If I select a message, I just get a blank screen with the date and time of the message, but the messages aren't displayed.
If I use fe. Vito SMS Chat, I can see all the messages and they are set to the correct person, but the default windows message program and pocketcm apparently don't recognize them..
Annoying, so if anyone else has had the same problem and has it resolved...

Hey, i have Windows Mobile 6.1 and for any SMS thats over a day old, it doesnt show the time, only the date. Is there any way I can see the details of the message or have it so it shows (day/month hours:minutes:seconds)?
Also, is there a programs that backs up the messages, but keeps the threaded conversations structure? Because Im using PIM Backup and when i restore my SMS from a backup, it groups the sent and then the received.
thanks in advance
hate to double post, but can anybody help me?
SMS Database
Hi
I can't advise on the day/date stamp of older SMS conversations. However, in terms of the "threaded" structure, this is only a method of displaying the SMS Messages sent and received. Both Threaded and Standard views of SMS messages sent and received use the same database. I think they're in pim.vol, but others may be able to elaborate on that point.
Either way, I think that if you can successfully back up and restore this database you should be able to display the restored messages in standard or threaded mode.
Cheers

thank you,
but i did successfully restore the database,
but when it is restored, the sent and received are grouped.
like this:
before the backup:
sent message 1
received message 1
sent message 2
received message 2
and then after restoring the backup:
sent message 1
sent message 2
received message 1
received message 2
theyre in the right order, just not like a conversation
try spb backup
searching for the same thing since I switched to 6.1 . and the only way I found was to disable the threadview with Advanced Config (or any other programm that can toogle this)..
I read something that other roms CAN have this feature that they display date and time.. but never seen that "live" :/

I too wonder why cant we have the completedetails about the time stamp on the SMS like any ordinary mobile phone has. many a times one definitely feels the need to know these details..
Regarding the backing up the SMS you can use ppcpimbkup by dotfred..It works just perfect...
PowerSMS is free and packs a few extra features... It's what I use personally.

you sure these restore sms (in threaded view) in the right order?
Hey everyone,
I've wondering this for a long time and couldn't find a solution to my problem. I have samsung i780 and have upgraded it to windows mobile 6.1. It comes with the SMS displayed as a chat conversation, which is neat. I want to backup all these conversations, as they are.
When I try most SMS backup software,(like iMobile SMS backup or Godswmobile SMS transfer) they backup all the messages, but they don't save it in a conversation way. They split them into sent or received smses, and its really hard to make sense of things and its tiresome.
Is there any software that can save the entire conversation as they are displayed in wm6.1? (i.e sent-received-sent-received etc)
Or at least someone can think of in this way:
In the conversation window, I can select all, and then copy the messages to Microsoft word or Note. The problem is, it shows very few messages at a time(as the screen is small, so only like 7 or 8 are displayed at a time), and I have to keep clicking on 'Older' to go to the very first sms, which is like a 1000 click before. And its tiresome to copy/paste it in the word, and if one small error, you are pushed back to the very recent sms chat.
Cant I just access the main html/xml file on the mobile where all of this is stored? Anyone knows how to retrieve the file where all your SMS chat/conversation is saved?
Thanks
Okay, I found the software.
Jeyo Software is the one. God, I wish I had known such a software existed before. Its just beautiful.
One more thing, any idea how to restore contacts that were saved as .xml?
Thankx
