Ok, I'm looking for a site or software to create funny picture messages. Now I'm sure you are all laughing, yes yes...
I have a HTC Excalibur that allows you to sort of create one. I could never get the music to play if I added a short clip. So, basically I'm an idiot who doesn't send MMS's but would like too. Any have any recommendations. Where do you find your MMS messages?
screen 320x240 if that matters
P.S. you can stop laughing now

i can figure out how to get my phone to read my text messages to me, i could have sworn this was possible...can someone tell if its possible and if so, how to do it?
-oh i dont mean speech to text (that works)
This should go in the Q&A section...
There are quite a few Market apps which do this... like Speak Message Service, SMS Speak...
Handcent sms does this too.
(The first app I installed on my N1..I've used it on my hero before and absolutely love it....)
So I came from an Iphone 4 and so far am happy with my captivate, except for one area, pics and vids.
I have two kids and like to take tons of pics and vids of them. With that I always found myself sending what I took via MMS or email to my flickr account. With the iphone this was a breeze. If the size was too large it could compress or allow me to choose a smaller video size. Unfortunately I can't even send simliar pics or vids via MMS or email as i have before.
Yes..I know you can choose the MMS mode for video, but to be honest the quality sucks. Pictures, there is a reason I take the pic at 5MP cause I want to view and send it that way.
I find myself wanting to go back to my iphone for this reason. But I am enjoying everything about my cappy. If anyone in a similar situation has any advice or possibly resolution to allow my cappy to act as before, please let me know.
Appreciate any advice.
I use handscent instead of the defult messenger. It compresses all my 5mp pics and sends them at a good quality.. i dont know about video because i havnt used it
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
I use Pixelpipe to upload videos and pics all the time with no issue.
Thanks for the suggestions...
I do see that handcent dose compress so I am actually happy about that. Appreciate it.
The video issue is two fold though. Although I am on the cappy, my wife and mom have iphones. So you can rest-assured I get messages wondering where the latest pics or videos are.
So quick (good resolution) videos is a must via MMS. Hell, even email I can send a full video to my flickr account. I compared the two recently actually. Took a video on my iphone 4 and my cappy. Same length, same subject, lightiing everything. I was able to successfully send it, recorded resolution, to my flickr and normal email on my iphone. The captivate not so much. "FILE TOO LARGE" blaring everytime.
So i guess the search OR wait is on to make this happen.
Thanks
So I just purchased a brand new Vibrant 4g for the amazing deal of only $250 after I sold my captivate for the same price the other night. I have a question that hopefully can be answered.
1. I have names in my messages? For example. My message might say "Me: How are you doing?" with the incoming being "*name here*: I am so awesome. Nothing can touch my awesomeness". This to me, is a complete waste of my messaging space since I can just look up top to see the name of who it is. My Captivate did not have this same "problem". I glanced through the settings but didn't notice a way to switch it off.
Thanks to anyone who could answer this for me, I really appreciate it. I may think of more questions eventually, but these are it for now.
So do you guys have this happen also? Do I need to post a picture?
That is just the way the default text messaging app displays messages. If you don't like it, I would recommend downloading another SMS app like Handcent which is fully customizable and doesn't add names.

Why didn't my Captivate do this then? It was basically the same phone just without the 4g...
So I've been using GO SMS for awhile, but just had a friend point out to me that when I send him a pic, he gets a shady looking link from GoSms. (Not to mention this enables the dev to spy on any photos I send)
Appears that the app sends MMS thru their server (Go MMS feature). But I can't find a way to disable this c**p..
The dev doesn't answer emails, so anyone find a way to disable the Go MMS "feature"?

ROTFLMAO. Well, next time read the docs I guess. Do NOT use the Go-MMS functionality if you want to send normal MMS. Use attachment in normal SMS mode.
How on earth did you think the picture/video would fit into 160 chars?
No matter what mode, or how you make an attachment, it uploads it to their server and sends a link.
I think I've been around cells long enough to know the difference between mms and sms.
[APP] GO Sms Pro V3.48 is released
Please post in pre existing threads on that note thread closed.
So I can send mms no problemo however I cannot receive from particular people. Those particular people tend to be iphone 4 users. People with the older iphone seem to be fine. It's really only like 4 people but it's annoying.
My carrier is Wind Mobile.
android 2.3.4
kernel 2.635.7
all up to date and what not.

Personally, not getting messages from iPhone users would be a feature and not a problem...
However, I would call into tech support as this seems to be a carrier issue and not a phone issue.

LOL
Can they receive mms from you? Maybe their phone is sending it in a format your phone doesn't understand? Maybe iPhones can only talk to other iPhones because they think they're better than everyone else.

it's the opposite for me. I can receive pictures from my friend with an iphone, but they can't receive pictures from me. it says that the pictures are in a format that doesn't work or something
I forgot the details but reading your reply made me remember something. I remember in sending a text with a picture attachment, sometimes my phone would want to send it in a format that android phones understands as a slide show. I forgot how to get it, if possible, to send it as a regular picture. Don't send multiple pictures in one text, that will most definitely send it as a slide show. I forget if it's opening up the messaging program and select through menu to get an attachment or to use something like root explorer or quickpic and hold down on the file and select send then choose messaging. All pictures seem to be compressed heavily when sending with a text. If there was a picture that I didn't want compressed, I would just send it as an email to the other person if possible. I forgot what file types are allowed to be sent with a mms text. Try different combinations and methods of sending it, you might stumble across the way that sends it as a jpg or jpeg or whatever and not a slideshow pic. I think my htc evo and evo shift were notorious for that. I would try to send a pic to someone with a samsung android and they didn't know what to do with it or it was unknown file type or what. I think I figured out a way around that but forgot what I did.
I have the same issue with my wife's iPhone. If there is text and an image in one message I just get the text, as a caption, with a blank image. If she does not include text, I can see the image fine. So when she sends me a pictures I have to ask her to not put any text as a "caption."
I think it's possibly this is because iPhone assumes everyone only uses iPhones too. Typical of Apple philosophy to implement their own standards instead of universal standards.
If that's true then it's good to know for future reference.
