listen to messages - Nexus One Themes and Apps

i can figure out how to get my phone to read my text messages to me, i could have sworn this was possible...can someone tell if its possible and if so, how to do it?
-oh i dont mean speech to text (that works)

This should go in the Q&A section...
There are quite a few Market apps which do this... like Speak Message Service, SMS Speak...

Handcent sms does this too.
(The first app I installed on my N1..I've used it on my hero before and absolutely love it....)

Few Questions (SMS and Keyboard)

Hey guys, just got my inspire. I had a couple questions though. Everything i have a conversation with a person via sms, their names come out as NAME(M (XXX) XXX-XXX). Anybody know how to get the M (for mobile) and the number not to show up? It makes it look really cluttered.
second, i tried installing the gingerbread kb (not a fan of senses) and it keeps giving me a force close. any ideas?
I use handcent and it just has the person's name. Although when I look at my text conversations on the stock app it only has their name there too.
Get This from the market for the keyboard. Works great.

I'm not trying to be rude, really, but you need to use spell check or something because your spelling & grammar create an impression that makes you seem child-like & lazy, and in turn could turn some people away. I know I reached for the back button before I even finished reading. Just something to think about.
I'm pretty sure there's not a way to do what you're asking. You could do the opposite, use handcent or chomp as your main messaging app and blacklist the conversation. Do note that this will make all communication with that number invisible in the app & you will not receive notifications (you will from the stock sms app unless you turn them off) until you take them off of the blacklist.
An easier solution: don't delete your text messages. If you feel like you have to, make a plan to delete only every day or two (or however long you prefer) and do a backup prior. I hope you realize that text messages use very little space & there's no real reason to delete them immediately unless you're trying to hide them. Just think before you act... and problem solved.

[Q] Google Voice Text Messages

Ok guys, I can't find a thread on this so here's my situation. I have a nookColor, I'm currently running Froyo on it and I would like to be able to have my Google Voice text messages get stored like normal texts so I can use something like Handcent or GoSMS to send and recieve messages through my GV number. If anyone knows of a way to do this or could point me at some files to poke through I'd be much appreciative
I don't think this is possible, but if it was, it'd be very convenient for me to have as well.
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App

[Q] Names in messages? How do I get rid of them?

So I just purchased a brand new Vibrant 4g for the amazing deal of only $250 after I sold my captivate for the same price the other night. I have a question that hopefully can be answered.
1. I have names in my messages? For example. My message might say "Me: How are you doing?" with the incoming being "*name here*: I am so awesome. Nothing can touch my awesomeness". This to me, is a complete waste of my messaging space since I can just look up top to see the name of who it is. My Captivate did not have this same "problem". I glanced through the settings but didn't notice a way to switch it off.
Thanks to anyone who could answer this for me, I really appreciate it. I may think of more questions eventually, but these are it for now.
So do you guys have this happen also? Do I need to post a picture?
That is just the way the default text messaging app displays messages. If you don't like it, I would recommend downloading another SMS app like Handcent which is fully customizable and doesn't add names.

Why didn't my Captivate do this then? It was basically the same phone just without the 4g...

Apps that edit incoming SMS based on keyword?

Hi, so basically this is my issue - I have a huge, huge pet-peeve over text speech (lol particularly). I have a couple of friends who use it excessively and I guess that is the trend these days, like the teen who got arrested over posting to facebook, "Got a dui and hit a car, lol!"
I'd like an app that could edit any incoming texts and just delete the lol (or any other keyword, or replace it, etc) so I never have to see it.
I did find one app called SMS Corrector, but the free version was limited and did not seem to work correctly on my device.
Are there any other apps that could do this?
